The first cargo train, loaded with 37 containers, left the Belgian city of Liege this week to travel to the capital city of China's Henan province. The freight route is part of China's ambitious One Belt One Road project.

The train is loaded with goods including auto parts, baby food, pharmaceuticals and steel products for import stores in central China. It will travel 12 days across the continent via Russia before arriving in Zhengzhou. The trip is to cover more than 11,000km.

The train service is scheduled to run once a week initially, with the frequency to rise in the future.

"We have every interest in turning to China and having close, strong relationships, and we must see this as an opportunity and a necessity," said Pierre-Yves Jeholet, vice president of Wallonia.

Comment: The dogs bark, but the caravan moves on.

Driving while high: Stoned drivers now outnumber drunk drivers in the US, says new study

Stoned driving is on the rise in the US, with a new study showing that THC - the main psychoactive constituent of cannabis - is now the most commonly detected intoxicating substance in American drivers.

Following the legalization of cannabis in some states, Americans are getting higher than ever before, with an estimated 15 billion hours under the influence of cannabis each year. A newly released paper, 'Driving While Stoned: Issues and Policy Options' reports that the number of people driving while high is therefore likely to increase... and the science behind accurate drug testing for cannabis products is yet to catch up.

The paper calls on stoned driving to be made a traffic offense, adding that the government should invest in messages that highlight the dangers and risks of marijuana on the motorway, as many users believe that THC does not have an impact on driving ability.

The Fourth Turning is upon us; most Americans see a sharply divided nation

Amercia poll 1
The October 2018 AP-NORC Poll national survey with 1,152 adults found 8 in 10 Americans believe the country is divided regarding essential values, and some expect the division to deepen into 2020.

Only 20% of Americans said they think the country will become less divided over the next several years, and 39% believe conditions will continue to deteriorate. A substantial majority of Americans, 77%, said they are dissatisfied with the state of politics in the country, said AP-NORC.

The nationwide survey was conducted on October 11-14, using the AmeriSpeak Panel, the probability-based panel of NORC at the University of Chicago. Overall, 59% of Americans disapprove of how Trump is handling his job as president, while 40% of Americans approve.

More specifically, the poll said 83% of Republicans approve of how Trump is handling the job, while 92% of Democrats and 61% of Independents strongly disagree.

More than half of Americans said they are not hearing nor seeing topics from midterm campaigns that are important to them. About 54% of Democrats and 44% of Republicans said vital issues, such as health care, education, and economic activity, Social Security and crime, were topics they wanted to hear more.

A new psychological study from San Francisco State University claims that a full quarter of millennials are suffering from bouts of post traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, because of the 2016 elections.

The study is by no means comprehensive - the research pool was limited to 769 students studying psychology at Arizona State University - but of those millennials chosen for the test, 25% reported experiencing "clinically significant" levels of stress, along with other symptoms of PTSD.

Students were evaluated using an "Impact of Event" scale, which measures stress levels at various times following a major traumatic event, typically a tragedy or a personal illness or injury. The results, the Washington Examiner reports, "indicated that students' average stress score was similar to those of witnesses of a mass shooting seven months after the incident."

"Jews are the children of Satan" and other anti-Semitic conspiracies of synagogue shooter

The gunman behind the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting, Robert Bowers, was active and outspoken on social media, publishing bizarre posts in which he slammed Jews, diversity, and Donald Trump.

Moments before entering the synagogue on Saturday morning, the 46-year-old wrote on the social network Gab that he was "going in," stating that he couldn't "sit by and watch my people get slaughtered." That comment was in reference to the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS), which he says "brings invaders in that kill our people."

Three days ago on the same social network, Bowers posted a "daily reminder" in which he said that "diversity means chasing down the last white person."

Comment: Despite the liberal media claims that 'supporting Trump means you are alt-right", this man was against Trump and demonstrates what the real alt-right is like. Trump has denied any links to the attack.
Speaking to reporters ahead his scheduled rally in Illinois, the president confirmed that at least 11 people were killed as 46-year-old Robert Bowers opened fire on worshipers inside the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh during a Saturday service. Three or four police officers were injured in a stand-off with the attacker.

At the rally, Trump called the carnage "a monstrous killing" and thanked the officers for apprehending the suspect.

The president doubled down on his earlier call for capital punishment for the attacker.

"When you have crimes like this, we'll have to bring back the death penalty. They have to pay the ultimate price," he said. In the wake of the deadly shooting, Trump said that the US government "should stiffen up" laws, so it can bring perpetrators of such heinous acts to due justice.
In the wake of the shooting, social media platform Gab has taken the blame for the shooting, with some calling it the "alt-right's favorite platform". Paypal has terminated their agreement with Gab due to violations of their terms of service although they aren't specific as to what exactly. Twitter and Facebook also hosted some of the shooter's content but they have yet to face any repercussions.

Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, is using the blue buttons to deter people from smoking directly under the windows of the maternity ward
Smokers puffing away near hospital buildings are being shamed into stubbing their cigarettes out by pre-recorded messages saying, 'Someone's mummy or daddy is having cancer treatment'.

Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, is using the speakers to deter people from smoking directly under the windows of the maternity ward.

Staff, visitors and patients can now push a blue button to activate one of nine pre-recorded messages, which are played via a loud speaker outside the hospital entrance where smoking is a prevalent problem.

The messages include the voice of a child saying: 'Please don't smoke outside our hospital. Excuse me, do you think you can put out your cigarette.

'Someone's nanny, granddad, mummy or daddy is having cancer treatment today. Thank you.'

Central American migrants rest on the train tracks Friday as a thousands-strong caravan travels stops between Pijijiapan and Arriaga, Chiapas state, Mexico. Caravan members turned down an offer by Mexico that would have kept them in the two southernmost states of that country.
Under the "You are at home" plan, they would have received benefits if they applied for refugee status and stayed in the country's two southernmost states.

Several thousand Central American migrants turned down a Mexican offer of benefits if they applied for refugee status and stayed in the country's two southernmost states, vowing to set out before dawn Saturday to continue their long trek toward the U.S. border.

Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto announced what he called the "You are at home" plan, offering shelter, medical attention, schooling and jobs to Central Americans in Chiapas and Oaxaca states if they applied, calling it a first step toward permanent refugee status. Authorities said more than 1,700 had already applied for refugee status.

Senior German Jewish leader resigns after report exposes he's not even a Jew, has history of fraud and embezzlement

A senior Jewish leader in a northern German community has stood down amid allegations that he may have lied about his heritage - and might not actually be Jewish at all.

Wolfgang Seibert, leader of the Schleswig-Holstein chapter of the Jewish Communities Association (JCA), has resigned "with immediate effect, to avert further damage," according to the religious group.

Seibert, 71, has been a leader of the Jewish community in a town near Hamburg since 2003. His resignation follows a recent report by German news website Der Spiegel, which cited documents that questioned Seibert's Jewish heritage.

He publicly identifies as a Reform Jew, however, family documents revealed that neither he, his parents, nor his grandparents were Jewish. Reports now show that Seibert was born to Christian Protestant parents in Frankfurt, and was baptized into the Christian faith when he was three-days old.

Der Spiegel also claims that the religious leader never converted to Judaism, and dubbed him a "scammer," adding that he has a criminal record for multiple instances of fraud and embezzlement.
