In their original tweet, the headline read, "3 ways companies can help fight Georgia's restrictive new voting law", however that tweet was deleted and the corresponding article on their website now reads, "Activists are calling on big companies to challenge new voting laws. Here's what they're asking for".
The riot broke out after around 1,000 young people gathered at the Roter Platz square in the city center. The agitated crowd attacked police and ambulance crews, hurling bottles, firecrackers, and pavement stones. The officers responded by launching volleys of tear gas and firing rubber bullets.
Legendary former NBA ball-player Charles Barkley had harsh words for American politicians when he spoke on CBS on Saturday afternoon, prior to Baylor and Houston taking to the court in the Final Four tournament.
"It was scientifically proven that communism is the only social-economic system providing the masses with justice and equality - 100% of scientists agree on this. The topic is not up for debate!", so proclaimed my professor during one of his lectures on the subject 'scientific communism', while the country of Czechoslovakia was still under communist control. I was reminded of his blustery pronouncement the first time I encountered the spurious claim that "a consensus of 97% of scientists agree global warming is man-made." Most people don't question scientific statements because they think they are facts. They do not understand that scientific statements must always be challenged, because Science is not about 'consensus'; ideology is.
In March of 2007, the website WorldNetDaily published an article entitled "Environmentalism is new communism". In it, the former Czech president, Vaclav Klaus, stated:
"It becomes evident that, while discussing climate, we are not witnessing a clash of views about the environment, but a clash of views about human freedom."He goes on to describe environmentalism as "the biggest threat to freedom, democracy, the market economy and prosperity." Klaus has also written a book: "Blue planet in green shackles", in which he states "communism and environmentalism have the same roots; they both suppress freedom." He also warns that any brand of environmentalism calling for centralized planning of the economy under the slogan of 'protecting nature' is nothing less than a reincarnation of communism - new communism.

Ida B. Wells-Barnett High School (formerly Woodrow Wilson High School) in Portland, August 15, 2019
After adopting a new namesake earlier this year, the Southwest Portland high school also wants to ditch its Trojan mascot. A committee comprised of students, staff and community members suggested the evergreens as the school's new mascot.
"Evergreens are characterized by the life-giving force of their foliage, the strength of their massive trunk, and the depth of their roots — in an individual tree and as a forest of trees," Ellen Whatmore, a teacher and mascot committee member at Wells-Barnett High School said, reading from a resolution. "They provide shelter and sustenance. They have histories that preclude us and will continue in perpetuity after we are no more."
But just before the Portland Public Schools Board of Education's vote to approve the new mascot Tuesday, March 30, Director Michelle DePass shared community concerns of an unwanted correlation between Ida B. Wells — the historic Black activist, and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist who documented and crusaded against lynching — and a tree which could conjure up reminders of hanging people with ropes from branches.
"I'm wondering if there was any concern with the imagery there, in using a tree ... as our mascot?" DePass asked the renaming and mascot committee. "I think everyone comes with blind spots and I think that might've been a really big blind spot."
Comment: The question is not 'did racism manifest in this situation?' but 'how did racism manifest in this situation?' Everything is racist.
A video of the encounter spreading on social media shows the officers being confronted by a man who is obviously unhappy to see them. "Please, get out, immediately get out of this property," the cameraman tells them, repeating the same message again and again in an increasingly loud and agitated voice.
Comment: One might wonder why attending pubs, sporting events and of course, protests, are gradually being permitted, but churches are having the hammer dropped on them?

The footage, which was filmed at the Christ the King Polish Roman Catholic Church, in Balham, on Friday, showed Metropolitan Police officers disrupting the service before announcing, "Ladies and gentlemen, this gathering is unfortunately unlawful under the coronavirus regulations we have currently."
"You are not allowed to meet inside with this many people under the law. At this moment in time, you need to go home," an officer declared, warning that "failure to comply with this direction" could lead to a £200 fine or even arrest if worshippers refused to give their personal information.
Comment: There appears to be a rise in dissatisfaction with the way police are enforcing the lockdown restrictions - understandably so - however it's worth remembering that the police are acting with the powers given to them through the 'emergency' legislation that was rushed into law by MPs; moreover, MPs recently voted to extend these undemocratic powers until September 2021 and are currently considering the discriminatory and ominous vaccine IDs:

- UK police stake out hairdresser for defying lockdown, follows £17,000 fine for staying open
- Firearms officers descend on gym for staying open despite lockdown orders in Merseyside, UK

The Republican governor had previously announced his intent to issue an order banning so-called "vaccine passports." His action also barred any government agency in Florida from issuing such documentation for the purpose of providing proof of vaccinations.
In his executive order, DeSantis asserts that "vaccination passports reduce individual freedom and will harm patient privacy."
Effective immediately, Florida businesses are barred from requiring patrons to provide documentation certifying COVID-19 vaccination to enter a business or to get served. But the order does not preclude businesses such as restaurants and retail stores from screening protocols and other measures recommended by state and federal health officials.

Through visceral campaigns, policymakers have deflected attention from themselves by emphasising the risks we pose to each other. Not only is this undemocratic, it has damaged society by turning people against each other.
This is by design. For decades, governments have turned to behavioural psychology to manipulate public emotion to achieve their objectives. But this has consequences. Those in power have worn down the population and created a heightened level of anxiety with negative effects that will be long-lasting. We must understand how this happened to ensure it does not happen again.
Government messaging first scaled up its fear tactics at the end of March 2020 when communications shifted from an expressionless Chris Whitty telling us, 'To help save lives, stay at home' to a more 'hard-hitting' (read: fear-inducing) approach. A video released in April [see below] opens with a shot of an ambulance and sirens wailing. Shaky shots of emergency rooms and the sound of panicked medical staff are interspersed with quiet, sombre music. Voice actor Mark Strong's deep, grave voice warns us that the coronavirus is 'life-threatening for people of all ages' as a cropped-headed patient is wheeled by.
Comment: Manipulation via targeted messaging is a sales ploy to which Western nations have become all too accustomed - so accustomed we hardly take note, especially when directed towards ourselves.
The figure represents a sharp increase from the 78,442 migrants apprehended in January, according to preliminary U.S. Customs and Border Protection data published by the Washington Post, as the Biden administration struggles to get a handle on the influx of migrants — especially unaccompanied minors — attempting to enter the country.
Customs and Border Patrol took in more than 18,800 unaccompanied minors in March, a 99 percent increase from the month prior. The previous one-month high, recorded in May 2019, was 11,861.
The number of migrants arriving as part of family groups surged to more than 53,000 last month from 19,246 in February and 7,294 in January, the report shows.
Though President Biden said last month's increases were similar to historic seasonal patterns as well as trends seen during the previous administration, the report notes that the "the precipitous influx during the first two months of his term has a more vertical growth curve than any comparable span over the past two decades." While the largest two-month increase in 2019 was roughly 45,000 in raw numbers, the period of the past two months has seen a rise of more than 90,000.
