Orange County Superior Court Judge Roger B. Robbins Thursday sentenced Christian Isadore Dubose to three years in state prison for punching a man so hard it left him with the mental capacity of a 14-year-old, the O.C. District Attorney's Office reports.
Dubose had faced a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison.
Dubose punched the 34-year-old victim outside a birthday party at a La Habra apartment on April 13, 2018, prosecutors say. Dubose followed the man and his girlfriend outside and then punched him, unprovoked, after accusing him of owing Dubose $200.
Experts from the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring (Rosgidromet) claim the recent spike in gamma radiation in Severodvinsk, Arkhangelsk Region on 8 August following a tragic incident during military trials is connected to the passing of a cloud of radioactive inert gases.
"It is assumed that the increase in the ADER (ambient equivalent dose rate) gamma radiation registered on 8 August, 2019 is associated with the passage of a cloud of radioactive inert gases. The meteorological situation in Arkhangelsk Region contributed to the rapid dispersal of the cloud", Russia's weather service reports about the identified changes in radiation levels from 5 - 16 August, in information published on its website.
The explosion that ripped through the wedding hall bustling with guests claimed 63 lives, Interior Ministry spokesman Nasrat Rahim confirmed early Sunday, adding that another 182 people have suffered injuries.
Witnesses said the building was packed with guests when the blast struck, as it's Afghani tradition to invite hundreds of people to weddings.
Comment: It's perhaps no coincidence that seemingly pointless attacks like this only give further excuse for the Western presence to continue in Afghanistan:
- Taliban sources draft deal: Foreign troops to leave Afghanistan in 18 months
- Taliban and Afghan delegations have 'successful' meeting with Moscow, pledge to meet again soon
- 50 dead in Afghanistan attacks as Taliban offered part in Presidential election if peace talks start

Are taxpayers funding academic institutions to indoctrinate our kids? That disturbing and irresistible question plagued me during the long drive home last week from college orientation. I doubt I am alone in this wake-up call.
Like many other women, I just sent my youngest child to college. I am so proud of him and his decision to join the Army ROTC and study engineering. He will be attending a revered Virginia institution known for its military Corps of Cadets program.
The centerpiece of the campus is the military parade field featuring beautiful pylons bearing the school's founding principles: words such as "honor," "duty," "brotherhood," and "ut prosim" (that I may serve). The war memorial also bears the names of all known cadets who have given their lives for our nation since World War I.
Several officials with knowledge of the Deep State spying on the Trump campaign and Trump administration tell us "you can't believe what's coming out."
It is also clear at this point that around 90% of the mainstream liberal media outlets bought into the hoax and sold it to the American public. And now there is proof that even the far left "fact-checkers" bought into the deep state lies. They were all wrong.
Gietelink sent the letter to the Kremlin, not thinking that anything would come of it. But to his surprise, the Russian embassy contacted him a few months later. A diplomat went to meet Gietelink in Almelo and told him that Russia wanted to distinguish him. The Almelo man traveled to the Russian embassy in The Hague with a group of 15 people on Wednesday. "What I found special was that we were not searched", he said afterwards. "They probably assumed we would do nothing because we stand for peace."
Comment: The following is what Albert Gietelink wrote to Vladimir Putin in his letter:
Dear partner in misfortune, as a 91-year-old European with only a few years to go, I look sadly upon the world today. And you likely feel the same way too. More than 73 years after the terrible war against Nazi Germany, the victors of that time find themselves in a Cold War. Russia played the leading role in that victory. In 1987, the Presidents of Russia and the USA signed the INF peace treaty. In a sense, that meant the end of the Cold War. As a result, those cruise missiles were not placed here. If President Trump's intention to denounce this treaty continues, a new arms race will arise. This is at the expense of better spending for our fellow citizens. And it increases the risk of a military confrontation with catastrophic consequences. Hence my sadness about the world in which you and I live.
Russian culture is a part of the European culture. Considering, for example, literature, music and the visual arts. Last summer, the country opened itself hospitably to foreigners at the World Cup for soccer without any problems. You have overcome the chaos in Russia caused by your predecessor. That has given you great popularity among your countrymen. You are now one of the few powerful people on Earth. This also makes it possible for you to make unpopular concessions in finding compromises on issues with the European Union and NATO. In doing so, you would historically serve peace and well-being to the citizens of Europe. The word Mir in your first name makes me hopeful. I wish you the best of luck and Mir in the new year. Warm regards, Albert Gietelink from Almelo.
I'm tired of everyone being outraged, getting worked up over the latest news cycle only to forget about it two hours later. Tired of being afraid to voice my own opinions, of knowing how saying the wrong thing at a barbecue while someone is filming on their iPhone could result in a nationwide clarion call for my head on a pike. I'm tired of rage mobs and cancelations.
2016 was the breaking point, or at least a watershed moment, when the vilification of diverse opinion exploded. Trump vs. Hillary forced everything into a binary, and suddenly bipartisanship and moderation became radical positions to take.
Now, you aren't just voting out of habit or, God forbid, voting for your own interests. Every vote is considered a statement on your personal identity and worth. Your value, who you are, what kind of world you want, whether or not you're a good person or an evil person...it all boils down to which lever you pull. Damn your reasons. Vote for the 'right' person, or else you are a fascist, or a racist, or a globalist, or a communist.
von Hoesslin is a Canadian citizen and gave Bloomberg his first interview since leaving the airline. He shared "hundreds of pages of emails, videos and documents" to back up his arguments.
After witnessing the Ethiopian 737 Max 8 crash in March, he knew there wasn't going to be any survivors, he said. He said that he felt a "sense of responsibility" about the crash, after pleading with pilots and managers to look into risks of the 737 Max flight control feature that turned out to be the cause of the crash several months prior in Indonesia.
After the March crash, he feared it had been triggered by the very same feature from the Indonesian crash, the prior October.
Snopes roasted after posting 'study' claiming 28% of Republicans think Babylon Bee articles are real
The "five most-believed satirical claims by the Babylon Bee" fool up to 28 percent of Republican readers, according to a study conducted by the Conversation (and credulously reposted by Snopes). The study's conclusions appeared at first glance to validate Snopes' much-mocked decision to fact-check obviously satirical stories by the Bee - clearly, Snopes' detractors simply didn't realize how many people were incapable of recognizing political satire!
But the researchers didn't present their subjects with Babylon Bee headlines and ask them if they thought they were looking at real news. Instead, they paraphrased the "false claims," ironing out the satire in a way that - ironically - made them look more like real news, as the Bee's own editor in chief pointed out.
Comment: Not a very scientific study - which sums up Snopes quite well. Those paraphrased headlines are akin to asking people whether or not Trump said "Mexicans are horrible people and we need a wall to keep them out". To a Democrat, that sounds plausible, and you'd no doubt get a percentage who thought it was "definitely true".
But the fact that Snopes actually fact-checked the washing machine article is priceless.
Siegle's comments come after the Washington Post's bombshell story came out which noted that Epstein suffered broken bones in his neck which is common in homicide victims who die from strangling. This revelation "deepen[ed] the mystery about the circumstances around his death."
"Among the bones broken in Epstein's neck was the hyoid bone, which in men is near the Adam's apple," The Washington Post reported. "Such breaks can occur in those who hang themselves, particularly if they are older, according to forensics experts and studies on the subject. But they are more common in victims of homicide by strangulation, the experts said."

Comment: That explanation makes no sense. A radioactive cloud just happened to be passing by at the moment of an 'accidental explosion' involving nuclear devices?
