Russian activist jailed for 10 years for organizing 2020 protest against lockdown

russia opera singer jailed covid protest

A court in Russia's southwestern city of Rostov-on-Don has sentenced opera singer Vadim Cheldiyev to 10 years in prison for his role in organizing a massive rally against anti-coronavirus restrictions in the entertainer's native North Ossetia region in 2020.

Comment: He was an opera singer. He quit to return to his hometown of Vladikavkaz, capital of North Ossetia, in 2019, to open a charity for the poor. Russian state security must have had an eye on him since then because this video report about his charitable turn mentions that he was 'interviewed about his political beliefs' in 2019.

The Rostov regional court on July 19 also sentenced co-defendants Ramis Chirkinov and Arsen Besolov to eight and 8 1/2 years in prison, respectively.

Cheldiyev was found guilty of the distribution of false information about the pandemic, extremism, hooliganism, organization of mass disorder, and attacking a law enforcement officer.

Comment: From The Moscow Times:
Vadim Cheldiyev in April 2020 posted a video calling on people to attend a planned protest against Covid-19 restrictions in Vladikavkaz, the capital of Russia's republic of North Ossetia, over concerns that the lockdown would cost many local jobs. The baritone was detained shortly after and initially charged with spreading "fakes" about the pandemic.

A court in the southern Rostov region on Tuesday found Cheldiyev guilty of spreading calls for unauthorized mass protests and sentenced him to 10 years in a maximum-security prison.

About 1,000 people gathered for the April 2020 protest in Vladikavkaz, despite the lockdown measures, to demand local authorities' resignation and Cheldiyev's release from custody.
Seeing that both RFE/RL and The Moscow Times are Western propaganda mouthpieces, one might wonder if there is more to the story than a passionate local activist being hounded for his beliefs.

10 years for organizing a protest is obviously way too harsh. But the location of this protest may be a clue; one of Russia's 'trouble spots' that Western agents tend to exploit.

Was this particular protest linked with such agents?

"A Peasants Revolt" FDA and the CDC are on notice/ industry professionals say the casket industry is booming

I spoke to the family who owns one of the largest casket manufacturers in North America. They supply caskets to huge chains across the US and manufacture Prime Caskets, among others. It's horrific to have to report on such a thing, but the owners said that their sales of typical caskets have increased by 20%, and since Dec 2021 their sales of small-size caskets (under 5 feet, i.e, for children) have increased by 400%. He's not the only one talking about it, those in the funeral industry are well aware of the sudden change in the nature of their business.

Portland Antifa to host summer camp for kids

tear gas for portlanders summer camp
A Portland Antifa group called "Budding Roses" will be hosting an "Antifascist" social justice summer camp beginning July 25, where kids ages 10 to 14 will be participating in activities that include learning about police abolition, how to donate to bail funds, and what to do if they come in contact with tear gas during protests.

The City of Portland awarded Budding Roses with a Spirit of Portland Award and selected the left-wing extremist group as Nonprofit Initiative of the Year in 2018, according to their website.

The young campers will be learning curriculum from a book titled Tear Gas for Portlanders, which emphasizes the importance of "mutual aid" and teaches campers how to donate to bail funds if their comrades get arrested by police. They will also be taught how to proceed if police deploy crowd control munitions, such as tear gas.

Best of the Web: LGBT 'propaganda' faces complete ban in Russia

LGBT community
© Sputnik / Igor RussakParticipants of the rally 'March Against Hatred' aimed at protecting the rights of LGBT community members and immigrants in St. Petersburg.
The promotion of LGBT relations could be permanently banned in Russia under a bill introduced to the State Duma on Monday, which likens such messaging to war propaganda and incitement of hatred.

Currently, LGBT 'propaganda' in Russia is only banned when directed at children, but some politicians have been calling for harsher restrictions and punishments for the "denial of family values" and "propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations."

In an explanatory note attached to the bill, the authors argue that LGBT 'propaganda' has become widespread in Russia and is being promoted through the media, public events, streaming services and through the depiction of such relationships in films.

"In Russia, at the legislative level, it is not allowed to promote suicide, drugs, extremism, criminal behavior, as they are considered negative and socially dangerous phenomena. At the same time, formally, until now, there is no ban on propaganda of the denial of family values and non-traditional sexual relations, including with the use of film distribution," the note reads.

ArriveCan 'glitch' ordering vaccinated Canadians into quarantine without reason

ArriveCAN
© DAX MELMER/Windsor StarThe ArriveCAN app on Friday, March 25, 2022.
According to the government of Canada's ArriveCan app, David Crouch should be at home, avoiding all contact, quarantining, to protect others from the COVID-19 there is absolutely no indication he has.

Crouch is quadruple vaccinated, has not tested positive for COVID-19 and is showing no symptoms. The border guard who waved him back into Canada last week said nothing about getting a COVID test, or quarantine, but when he got home he found an email and a notification in his ArriveCan app, telling him to stay home for two weeks.

Crouch lives in Ridgeway, Ont., a 15-minute drive from the Canada-U.S. border and like many living in border communities, he has American friends he visits regularly. He also picks up groceries on the other side of the border.

He said there was no hint of an issue at the border, so the email hit him like a ton of bricks.

"I checked my email and there's an email from ArriveCan, saying you are quarantined. This is your second day of quarantine," he said.

Lawsuit alleges famed candy Skittles is 'unsafe for human consumption'

skittles
A California man is suing the candy maker Mars, alleging Skittles contains a "known toxin," making the popular candy "unfit for human consumption."

On Thursday, San Leandro resident Jenile Thames filed a lawsuit seeking class-action status in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Attorneys for Thames said Skittles were unsafe for consumers because they contain "heightened levels" of titanium dioxide.

Mars Inc. uses titanium dioxide to produce Skittles' rainbow of artificial colors.

In 2016, the Mars publicly stated its intention to remove additive from its products. However, the Thursday complaint noted it is still used in products like Skittles today.

In a statement sent by Mars to several other news outlets, the company said: "While we do not comment on pending litigation, our use of titanium dioxide complies with FDA regulations."

Seriously? BBC's 'independent vaccine expert' just happens to be in charge of Pfizer's UK vaccine centre

Adam finn head of pfizer britain
© Good Morning BritainProfessor Adam Finn, University of Bristol
Now updated below to show that, additionally, their 'vaccine is safe' for pregnant women 'expert' just happens to be the PI of the Pfizer Covid vaccine in pregnancy trial.

As I reported in this previous post the BBC is screening a documentary on 20 July in which mathematician Prof Hannah Fry - with the help 'experts' - attempts to convince 7 members of the public (who have so far refused) to take the Covid vaccine. As I pointed out the BBC (in the publicity for the programme) already signposted the likely extreme bias in the programme by massive underestimating the number of unvaccinated people in the UK, hence trying to present such people as a tiny extreme fringe.

This newspaper article about the Programme unwittingly provides more evidence of just how biased the programme is going to be. To give just one example, we have this:
As for concerns about how exactly the jab works, the group travelled to meet Professor Adam Finn, a paediatrician from the University of Bristol who has been instrumental in Covid vaccine research.
