Just hours after it was announced that Louisville officers would not face charges for the killing in March of 26-year-old emergency room technician Breonna Taylor during an alleged no-knock warrant incident, downtown Portland was once again flooded with protesters.
The videos show plumes of smoke coming from the building's top floors, and largely obscuring the sky above the facility. According to the local fire department, the flammable sound-absorbing cotton which the facility was using may be the main source of the blaze.
The fire was put out by the Dongguan city fire rescue department, city authorities say, and no casualties have been reported.
Americans would be wise to pay attention to what's going on Down Under. Victorian Premier Dan Andrews has gone on a police-state shopping spree to rival the Patriot Act, recently introducing a bill that gives the state government the power to preemptively detain "high-risk" persons, indefinitely, in quarantine facilities based on mere suspicion they might not comply with self-isolation orders.
This is being justified using Covid-19 stats that even the fear-porn-loving media establishment has acknowledged are probably very much inflated, based on a test whose creator was reportedly horrified by the thought of using it to diagnose viral infection. Yet the same media establishment has embraced Andrews' totalitarian lockdown as a model the US should adopt.

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser walks down 16th Street during a June 6 protest outside the White House.
Included in Bowser's lockdown executive order was a ban on gatherings of 10 or more people.
As the city progressed through the pandemic and cases flattened, the city eventually expanded the allowed sizes of gatherings to 50 and upped the limit to 100 people for worship services — whether indoor or outdoor.
But apparently the mayor had no problem with massive outdoor protests and rallies with thousands of people.
Now one large Baptist church in D.C. is taking the mayor to court for her worship restrictions.
Capitol Hill Baptist Church launched a suit against the mayor and the district in federal court on Tuesday for "violating its rights under the First and Fifth Amendments," the lawsuit said.
The suit notes that while D.C.'s government has banned services with more than 100 people — even if held outdoors — city officials have facilitated and tolerated massive social justice protests, rallies, and events, the Washington Post noted.
Comment: Kudos to this church for having the courage to confront the Mayor's hypocrisy when many religious leaders have remained silent and turned their backs on their parishioners.

Optometrist Robert Zoellner, Clay Clark, Dr. James Meehan, MD, and other Tulsa-based business owners are asking the city to immediately repeal the mask mandate which was passed by city council last month.
The group alleges wearing masks is causing healthy people to become sick while trying to prevent the spread of a disease that is not a deadly threat to children and much of the public.
"On the OSHA website it states that employers shouldn't make employees work in an environment where they have less than a 19.5 percent oxygen level," said Clayton Clark, one of the plaintiffs. "And the mandated masks cause employees to dip below a 19.5 percent oxygen level within 10 seconds of wearing a mask, so I don't want to make my healthy employees sick."

The measures are set to go into force on Friday afternoon, as the country shuts down for the weekly Sabbath ahead of the solemn holy day of Yom Kippur on Sunday and Monday. Even during normal times, Israel completely shuts down for Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement, with businesses and airports closed, roads empty, and even radio and television stations going silent.
In a televised address Thursday night, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledged the pain caused by the closure, but said the holiday season, when many businesses slow down in any case, was the best time to take action.

The Law Commission is calling for evidence from victims of hate crimes, police officers, prosecutors and civil liberties groups which will be assessed to help establish how misogyny hate crimes could work in practice.

"We see no dramatic surge, but the incidence rate is showing upwards tendencies. I would like to stress once again that it was an expected situation because all those who have symptoms of respiratory infections are tested," she outlined, earlier in this week. "And it's only natural that we see this growth. Probably, it may mean a second wave, if we want to call it this way, but we don't expect any dramatic surges or a serious worsening of the situation."

"Uncle Tom. Step & fetch, Negro. The end," Nelson tweeted in reaction to Cameron's announcement that a former cop involved in the shooting of Breonna Taylor would not be facing murder charges, but rather three counts of "wanton endangerment." It's a decision that has set off violent protests in Louisville, Kentucky and several other major cities.
Nelson, a frequent guest on CNN and writer for the Daily Beast, doubled down on the tweet on Thursday by reposting it to her followers.
