Australia's The Age takes a stand on lockdowns: Victoria can't go on like this

Australia's Premier Daniel Andrews announces the extended lockdowns on Wednesday, September 1, 2021
A year ago, while Melbourne was in the grip of its long lockdown, the worst of the second COVID-19 outbreak was behind us. After peaking at 723 cases in late July, by the start of spring the daily figure for new cases had dropped to 70. At the time, all the enormous effort was paying off, and the eventual reward was a summer with few restrictions. A year later, it's a different state of affairs.

On Wednesday, the jump in new cases to 120 signalled that the chance of Victoria returning to COVID zero in the community has gone, and the government and health officers have acknowledged it. While the daily numbers are not in the same league as NSW's, the pathway back to more freedoms is the same - high vaccination rates.

Comment: For those with eyes to see, it's clear that Australia (and New Zealand) have been used as a testing ground for how far draconian restrictions on civil liberties can be taken. There has been no lack of petty tyrants willing to enforce them.

NSW Police investigate alleged arson attack on COVID-19 clinic in St Marys

NSW Police are treating as suspicious a fire which badly damaged a COVID-19 testing clinic in Sydney's west.

About 10:50pm on Saturday police were patrolling nearby and discovered the fire at the testing site on Forrester Road in North St Marys.

On arrival, a demountable building was well alight before firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze.

Police searched the surrounding area and discovered graffiti on a separate building.

Comment: And it's not just Australia, vaccination and testing centers have been vandalized in other countries, most notably in France. One report stated that the rate at which French centers were being vandalized was one per day since June!

It's no wonder people are resorting to acts of vandalism given the dystopian nightmare that is Australia. That said, one wonders whether acts such as this will play right into the PTB's hands and will be used to justify harsher actions against "anti-vaxxers" and "dissidents". Mercola has advised an alternative approach:

Victoria to ban swastikas as anti-vilification laws strengthened

The Victorian government is moving to stamp out the public display of Nazi iconography. It's notable the symbol used in the graffiti above isn't actually a Nazi swastika
Victoria is set to become the first state to ban the public display of the Nazi swastika as part of an expansion of anti-vilification laws.

Today the state announced plans to make Nazi symbols including the hooked cross illegal and make civil and criminal vilification easier to prove so that victims can seek justice through the courts more easily.

The legislation is expected to be introduced in the first half of 2022.

Attorney-General Jaclyn Symes said the findings of a recent inquiry into the state's anti-vilification protections were "sobering".

She said community consultation later this year would determine how broadly the ban would be applied.

Pro-Antifa California teacher to be fired by school district after Project Veritas video emerges

Gabriel Gipe

Inderkum High School teacher Gabriel Gipe appeared in a 10-minute Project Veritas video

A far-left California teacher with a hammer and sickle tattoo and an apparent affinity for Antifa and brutal communist dictators will be fired after bragging on video that he was working to radicalize his students "further and further left," his employer announced Wednesday.

In a letter, the Natomas Unified School District Superintendent Chris Evans wrote that Gabriel Gipe, a social studies teacher at Inderkum High School, would be terminated after Project Veritas found Antifa and Mao Zedong posters in his classroom and recorded him talking about indoctrinating his students.

Comment: The repercussions of the Veritas sting continue. The undercover investigator subsequently attended a meeting of the Natomas Unified School District:

The proposed meeting should be interesting. Let's hope that Project Veritas will publicize it in full.

Powerful integrity: Marine who slammed military over Afghan mess says he's resigning - Updates

Lt. Col. Stuart Schelle

Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller says he doesn’t “want a single dollar” from the Department of Veterans Affairs.
A US Marine Corps officer who was relieved of his command for chastising his bosses over the botched Afghan withdrawal has decided to call it quits.

Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller, who came under fire after a bombastic Facebook post last week, said on YouTube Sunday that he's sticking by his guns and resigning his commission — walking away from a $2 million pension after 17 years of military service.
"I could stay in the Marine Corps for another three years, but I don't think that's the path I'm on," Scheller said. "I'm resigning my commission as a United States Marine effective now.

"I am forfeiting retirements, all entitlements, I don't want a single dollar," he said. "I don't want any money from the VA. I don't want any VA benefits. I'm sure I'm entitled 100 percent."
The video, titled "Your Move," shows Scheller sitting in front of a chessboard in an abandoned school bus near his home in North Carolina.

He said he has been overwhelmed by the show of support.

Comment: Thousands of US soldiers and even more Afghan civilians lost their lives in Afghanistan in the last 20 years. Now it is obvious that it was just a very expensive and bloody show for the masses directed by PTB for their own reasons.

Some of the people directly involved in the Afghan war are realizing that the system was using them as pawns on a global chess-board for their personal nefarious purposes, not to bring any peace or fight terrorism.

Is the "man behind the curtain" exposed even more now?

From CNN, to Proctor and Gamble to the Labour Party, to charities including the stillbirth charity Sands, and Friends of the Earth the rush to erase the word women when talking about female people has only accelerated since she said this.

It's not inclusive you see.

A Chrome browser extension lets you see if progressive rhetoric is actually illiberal.

Does something seem a little off about that corporate diversity consultant's plan to separate people by races? Is there anything wrong with the government distributing benefits to people based on immutable characteristics? Is "anti-racism" just racism?

Technology developed by The Daily Wire can help you — and your progressive friends — answer these questions.

'I lost hope, I lost everything': Former Afghan interpreter left behind by UK speaks to RT

Members of the British armed forces arrive at RAF Brize Norton base after being evacuated from Kabul, in Oxfordshire, Britain on August 29, 2021.
The UK government has abandoned people who worked for the Brits in Afghanistan, a former embassy translator has told RT. The Afghan man is now on the run, fearing that the Taliban would ultimately find and kill him and his family.

The former interpreter, using the alias 'Said,' spoke to RT as the deadline for foreign forces to leave Afghanistan was set to expire, and after the US and UK forces officially had wrapped up their withdrawal. Said used to work as a patrolling translator for British security forces at the UK's Kabul Embassy and was eligible for getting evacuated. However, unable to reach the Kabul airport without outside help, he was ultimately left behind by the UK government.

The abrupt collapse of the Afghan government had apparently caught London by surprise, leaving the local employees of the UK wondering if it actually had any plan to extract them, Said told RT.

Comment: Is this more rumor-mongering from the press or are 'collaborators' really being hunted down by members of the Taliban that didn't get the memo about changing to the more moderate 'Taliban-lite'? In reality, both are probably occurring, making the situation more and more complex.

Afghanistan: Women allowed to attend university under Taliban rule, says acting education minister

A protester holds a placard calling for education for Afghan women during a demonstration outside the US embassy in Athens, Greece on Saturday.
Afghan women will be allowed to study at university but there would be a ban on mixed classes under their rule, the Taliban's acting higher education minister said on Sunday.

The hardline Islamist group that stormed to power in mid-August after ousting the Western-back government have vowed to rule differently compared to their 1990s stint when girls and women were banned from education.

"The ... people of Afghanistan will continue their higher education in the light of sharia law in safety without being in a mixed male and female environment," Abdul Baqi Haqqani, the Taliban's acting minister for higher education said at a meeting with elders, known as a Loya Jirga, on Sunday.

Comment: It's the new and improved moderate Taliban! From Sputnik:
After the Taliban takeover, the Islamic group's spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid vowed to crack down on the production of narcotics, saying "nobody can be involved" in the heroin trade, which has been a key source of funding for the group.

Afghanistan's new rulers, the Taliban, while ostensibly seeking to portray a more moderate image by Western standards has vowed to police poppy cultivation more heavily.

Leaders of the Islamist group, which took control of the country in the wake of US and NATO forces pulling out, have been telling farmers in the southern province of Kandahar to stop cultivating opium poppies, according to The Wall Street Journal, citing local residents. Farmers are unhappy but have no choice but to comply should the Taliban begin to enforce the ban, the outlet cites a Kandahar grower as saying.
...

"If the Taliban prohibit the cultivation of poppy, people will die from starvation, especially when international aid stops. We still hope they will let us grow poppies. Nothing can compensate for the income we get from growing poppies," a poppy farmer in the Chora district of Uruzgan was quoted as saying.
Perhaps this image makeover has more to do with acceptance within the international community rather than an actual rebooted morality. From RT:
NATO member Turkey is reportedly nearing a deal to recognize Afghanistan's Taliban government and operate the Kabul airport in partnership with Qatar, paving the way for the Islamist group to attract foreign aid and investment.

The agreement is awaiting approval by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and will be finalized once Washington's exit is completed, the Middle East Eye (MEE) reported on Saturday, citing two unidentified people familiar with the negotiations.
...

One apparent sticking point in Ankara's talks with the Taliban has been the issue of who will provide airport security. "How can we give the security to you (the Taliban)?" Erdogan told reporters on Saturday. "How would we explain it to the world if you took over security and there is another bloodbath there? This is not an easy job."

The MEE report indicated that Turkey would provide security through a private contractor, manned by former Turkish soldiers and police. And Turkish special forces would operate in plainclothes to protect the country's citizens within the airport's perimeter.

In return, the Taliban would be recognized by Ankara as Afghanistan's legitimate government.

A former Disney artist, who wished to remain anonymous, joined Glenn Beck on the radio program to describe why he recently took action against his former employer by creating the viral video called, "It's a Woke World After All," on the YouTube channel PolitiZoid.

"I'm tired of watching my country go down the drain. It's time to do something," he told Glenn.

The former Disney employee and Glenn discussed the massive influence the late Walt Disney had on American culture, and why they agree today's woke Disney is not in line with what Walt once imagined.
