Antifa is mostly made up of privileged white dudes

antifa
At Occupy Wall Street, there were two very distinct groups. On one side of the park were the peaceful intellectuals. They ran the library and the general assembly, and organized services in the park. On the other side was the black bloc, a collection of black-clad punks, often with bandanas ready to serve as masks, who mostly engaged in drug use and drum circles. The latter group is directly related to the movement we now know as Antifa.

One thing that both of these groups had โ€” and continue to have โ€” in common is that they are mostly young white people. This is not surprising; poll after poll shows us that the vast majority of far-left progressives are white. The intellectuals at Occupy understood and tried to address this, giving special treatment to the speech and ideas of their small cadre of non-white participants. The Black Bloc and Antifa take a different approach; they just cover their faces.

Just a week after Nike appeared to bow to Chinese authorities' demands, halting the sale of a range of sports shoes in China after its Japanese designer showed support for Hong Kong protests in an Instagram post; the sportswear company has been implicitly banned from Arizona after nixing the launch of its "Betsy Ross Flag" sneakers after former football player Colin Kaepernick complained.

As The Wall Street Journal reports, the sneaker giant created the Air Max 1 USA in celebration of the July Fourth holiday, and it was slated to go on sale this week.

The other 31 are dead, according to the diocese.

Of the listed, 17 โ€” including four who are still alive โ€” were not in the database of accused Rhode Island priests maintained by BishopAccountability.org, a website that tracks the Catholic abuse crisis nationwide, according to WPRI.

Quillette founder slams Snopes for casting doubt on Andy Ngo's credentials

Editor-in-chief and co-founder of Quillette magazine, Claire Lehmann, took issue with fact-checking website Snopes after they shared a tweet which cast doubt on the credentials of Quillette editor, Andy Ngo, after he was violently assaulted by Antifa mobs in Portland, Oregon on Saturday.

Ngo, a journalist who has been known to clash with Portland based Rose City Antifa in the past, was pummeled by fists, milkshakes, eggs, and possibly cement during the violent clash. Antifa protesters also stole Ngo's camera equipment. He was hospitalized and later diagnosed with a brain bleed, but was able to leave the hospital late Sunday night, according to a GoFundMe page set up to help cover his medical expenses and recoup his lost equipment. The page had raised over $135,000 by Monday morning.

Political cartoons next on the chopping block as newspapers worry about 'offending' readers

With political correctness increasingly encroaching on the right to free speech and calls for censorship of 'offensive' opinions on the rise, there are signs that political cartoons and satire could be next on the chopping block.

Canadian cartoonist Michael de Adder has claimed that his contract was terminated after 17 years last week by a New Brunswick publishing company - the day after one of his cartoons critical of US President Donald Trump went viral online.

The cartoon in question was inspired by the image of a dead migrant child and her father washed up on the banks of the Rio Grande last week, having drowned while attempting to cross and seek asylum in the US. The illustration depicts the man and girl lying face down in the river as Trump stands beside them with a golf club in hand, saying, "Do you mind if I play through?"

Ikea worker fired after posting 'anti-gay' Bible quotes on company intranet

ikea store
An Ikea worker in Poland has been sacked for quoting Bible verses condemning homosexuality in a case strikingly similar to Israel Folau's battle with Rugby Australia.

The worker, named in local media only as Tomasz K, has filed a lawsuit accusing the world's largest furniture retailer of religious discrimination, sparking outrage in the heavily Catholic country where LGBT rights lag well behind the developed world.

Mr Tomasz, a long-term employee at the Krakow store, was sacked after he refused to take down Bible verses he posted in response to a notice on the company's intranet promoting a pro-LGBT event in May.

German military helicopter crash kills pilot, Indian MP's flight spins wildly out of control

heicopter
One of the two pilots was killed, the German Defense Ministry said in a statement. The government and armed forces have been plagued by aging equipment, prompting calls for a complete overhaul of its military hardware.

A military helicopter crashed near the northern city of Hanover, the German armed forces said on Monday.

The Bunderwehr confirmed that one of the pilots was killed while the other is in the hospital. Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the crash.

"Our thoughts, our grief, our sympathies are with the relatives of the pilot," German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen said during a visit to the crash site.

Helpless onlookers watched in terror as a helicopter carrying Indian politician Mahant Balaknath spun wildly out of control mere meters off the ground.

The MP was travelling from Delhi to Alwar and attempted to land at Ladpur village in Kotkasim around 10.30am Sunday when the unthinkable happened.

The quick-thinking pilot managed to regain control of the aircraft and avoid disaster. Authorities blamed a combination of strong air pressure and an uneven helipad for the incident.

Balaknath's pilot attempted a landing at a nearby village but was unsuccessful there as well and was forced to return to Delhi. The MP eventually traveled to his destination by road.

And these events come on the heels of a number of other aviation disasters and near misses. Below is just a selection of those that have happened in the last few months: But this disturbing trend has been on the rise for years. For more on the possible causes, see:

Best of the Web: Pathetic: NBC accused of putting a fake pimple on Rep. Tulsi Gabbard during Dem debate

tulsi gabbard fake zit
The team over at NBC appears to have taken their 'Mean Girls' style disdain for Rep. Tulsi Gabbard to new levels โ€” by adding a fake blemish to her face on live television.

The disappearing pimple was first reported on by TMZ, and Rep. Gabbard's press assistant tweeted a video and thank you note to them for covering it.

"The Congresswoman from Hawaii was talking foreign policy during the debate โ€” specifically the possibility of America going to war with Iran. Important stuff, no doubt. However, as Gabbard spoke many viewers focused on her chin and what appeared to be a tiny zit โ€” nothing that would require Dr. Pimple Popper or anything, but still ... it was there," TMZ reported. "Then it happened. Seriously, if you haven't seen it ... YOU MUST. Within a matter of seconds the blemish simply vanished ... AS Tulsi was talking!!! Remember, this is on a close-up camera, ON live television."

Comment: First NBC gets accused of turning off candidate's microphones during the debate, and now this. It seems the outlet has clear favourites and are rather unabashed in playing petty and dirty tricks to give them advantages. God forbid anyone be required to win debates based on their merit and ability. At least Gabbard seems to be taking it with poise and humor. Update from TMZ:
10:39 AM PDT -- Rep. Gabbard joined us on TMZ Live and says the red dot wasn't on her chin at all on Wednesday ... and she has no idea what the spot could have been. She's clearly not concerned about it and is ready for the rest of her campaign.

Socialism in action: French civil servants paid millions to do NOTHING for 25 years

Imagine turning up at work every day and doing absolutely nothing. Or better yet, staying at home and doing nothing and still getting paid. The dream is a reality for 30 French civil servants.

French taxpayers have been spending more than โ‚ฌ1 million per year to pay the salaries of 30 so-called "phantom" bureaucrats in the southern city of Toulon, a report by the Provence-Alps-Riviera Regional Audit Office, seen by local newspaper Var-Matin, revealed.

One of these ghosts picked up his state paycheck while simultaneously working a managerial job in the private sector, while all 30 received promotions and pay increases based on seniority, despite not working for more than 25 years.
