Port Authority carries out an active shooter drill and fails to inform the local police

So secret that it's for your safety...

It isn't the first time that military, SWAT teams, FBI, police and Homeland Security officials have conducted large-scale emergency exercises inside cities and frightened the locals.

Joint task force mock disasters, raids and response teams now routinely takeover local areas in order to prepare for martial law and a thorough police state, and people are often riled by the sounds of explosions, gunshots, helicopters and teams of men in black uniforms.

Majority of college students scared to speak freely for fear they may offend someone, says survey

American universities have done a complete about-face away from the free speech havens they once were.

Recently brought to the forefront of American media has been the attack on free speech and lack of respect for the press on college campuses.

Most notably it was the incident at the University of Missouri last November where we saw the anti-first amendment attitude in full force.

During a protest on campus, students pushed and shoved reporters and cameramen to prevent them from covering the calls for resignation of University president Tim Wolfe over a supposed racial incident that happened on school grounds.

Former congressman lives in a remote cabin completely off the grid

congressman Bartlett
When Roscoe Bartlett was in Congress, he latched onto a particularly apocalyptic issue, one almost no one else ever seemed to talk about: America's dangerously vulnerable power grid. In speech after late-night speech on the House floor, Bartlett hectored the nearly empty chamber: If the United States doesn't do something to protect the grid, and soon, a terrorist or an act of nature will put an end to life as we know it.

Bartlett loved to conjure doomsday visions: Think post-Sandy New York City without power - but spread over a much larger area for months at a time. He once recounted a conversation he claimed to have had with unnamed Russian officials about how they could take out the United States: They would "detonate a nuclear weapon high above your country," he recalled them saying, "and shut down your power grid - and your communications - for six months or so."

Comment: Kudos to Congressman Bartlett for living a healthy sustainable life off the grid at a ripe old age.

French, German and British citizens constitute the majority of the European foreign fighters that joined the ranks of Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) in Syria and Iraq, the latest study by an independent research center based in The Hague says. France is the primary country of origin for the people who left to fight for the Islamic State terrorist group in the Middle East, as more than 900 its citizens traveled to Syria and Iraq to join the extremists, a research conducted by the International Centre for Counter-Terrorism (ICCT) and published on April 1 says.

The report also adds that the "overall number of radicalized French nationals or residents involved in jihadist networks but not necessarily having traveled to Syria [and] Iraq is estimated to be close to 2000." In absolute terms, France is closely followed by Germany and the UK which both also contributed large numbers of IS foreign fighters. According to different estimates presented in the ICCT research, 720-760 Germans and 700-760 Brits left their countries to join the ranks of extremists.

At the same time, Belgium contributed the highest number of European IS fighters per capita, as the proportion of people that left the country for Syria and Iraq amounts to some 41 fighter per million while the total number of IS fighters of Belgian origin has reached 516. In per capita terms, it is followed by Austria and Sweden, which contributed 300 foreign fighters each.

All the news that's fit to lie about: The New York Times demonizes gold

New York Times liars
Right now it is $1,390 an ounce, but before the events in New York and Washington it was $280 an ounce," he wrote. He added, "If the price of gold reaches $1,500 or a little over before you get this message, it's still all right to buy it. - NY Times quoting Bin Laden
Some of you may remember back in like 2003 or 2004 when gold's move up was starting to catch the eye of the mainstream media and CNBC's Bob Pisani made the comment from his theatrical perch on the floor of the NYSE that "gold is the currency of terrorists."

Enter the New York Times - where the truth goes to die.

The mainstream media has an obsession with demonizing gold. It's the metal of terrorists; it's a pet rock; you can't eat it; it doesn't pay interest...and now the NY Times is connecting the ownership of gold with Bin Laden. Why even bring this up? Bin Laden has been dead since 2002 (kidney failure) 2011.

Native American WWII hero and "Code Talker" Gilbert Horn walks on at 92

Code talker
Born on the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation in 1923, Horn enlisted in the National Guard at age 15, and then the Army at age 17, reports the Associated Press. Horn was among a unit of 2,750 men during World War II who made up Merrill's Marauders, a special operations unit who were tasked with cutting off Japanese communications and supply lines in the Burmese jungle, reports the Great Falls Tribune. Horn was trained in communications and encryption, and used his native Assiniboine language to become a code talker to disguise military communications, reports the Tribune.

Horn's training wasn't as formal as the training Navajo recruits received, but his language was close enough to theirs that they could communicate easily.

"They were not exactly the same words, but similar enough so we could converse in Indian," Horn told the Great Falls Tribune about being able to speak with other Native soldiers in a variety of Siouxian languages. "As long as they could get two of us together—they didn't have to be both Sioux or both Assiniboine—they were close enough so we could converse."

A Russian woman is being held on the suspicion of killing her German husband and feeding bits of him to their dog at their home on Mallorca.

Flesh from his arms had reportedly been cut off and fed to the couple's dog, an American Staffordshire bull terrior, according to the online Periodistadigital.

Initial findings widely reported in local media on the Balearic Islands indicated that the victim had been drugged before being repeatedly stabbed and had bled to death on the floor of their flat in Sant Llorenç.

The couple had reportedly married in January and Henkels had recently undergone surgery on his trachea and could therefore hardly speak.

Local police confirmed that they had been called out several times to the property in recent months over domestic rows.

Batukova, who was reportedly under the influence of alcohol and drugs when arrested, is due to appear before an investigating magistrate on Monday.

Beijing is ready to transfer some of its shipyards as well as chemical and steel plants to Russia's Far East. Russia is interested, but says this can only be done in full compliance with local environmental laws.

"We are ready to accept Chinese enterprises to establish joint export-oriented production in the Far East territory", said a spokesman for the Far East Development Department Rustam Makarov.

The Chinese factories are involved in construction, metalworking, energy, machine building, shipbuilding, chemicals and other sectors.

However, this movement will only be done if they comply with Russian environmental laws.

Police kill suspect, then kill his hostage; family seeks justice

On Feb 7, 2014, Matthew Serbus led police on a dangerous high-speed chase before crashing his car and taking Dawn Pfister as a hostage. Police would shoot Serbus as he held a knife to Pfister, then, walk up to Pfister and kill her too. The entire incident was recorded on a police dashcam.

The Chaska police department never released the dashcam footage showing the killing until now — after all the officers involved were cleared by a grand jury. Now, the family of Dawn Pfister is speaking out and has hired an attorney to bring their daughter's murderer to justice.

Two years ago, officers received calls about a hit and run and a vehicle driving dangerously down the highway. They found Matthew Serbus driving his car, weaving down the road, with the hood blocking his view. Inside that car was his girlfriend, Phister.

An 11-year-old boy has been speaking of his ordeal after being held prisoner for eight months by Islamic State before he eventually escaped. Ayman Sharaf Khaji told Sputnik of the awful suffering he and 100 Yazidi children had to endure.

It is difficult to image someone so young could have experienced such horrors. However, Ayman remains remarkably composed as he reveals some of the ordeals that he had to face during his eight-month nightmare.
