Peter Schiff: Americans are in for a rude awakening

Peter Sciff on RT
On Jan. 13, Peter Schiff appeared on RT Boom Bust with Bubba Horwitz to talk about the yuan, the dollar, the stock market and the US economy. Peter said the dollar is eventually going to collapse and it's going to be a rude awakening for Americans.

The Chinese yuan has been gaining strength against the dollar in recent weeks, in part because of optimism that there will eventually be a resolution to the trade war. But the Chinese currency is still over 17% lower than it was when the US imposed its first tariffs. Does this mean the markets are cautiously positioning for a deal, or is there still skepticism about the phase 1 deal? Peter focused on the bigger picture.

CNN, Warren's sexism jibe against Sanders backfires as #CNNisTrash trends on Twitter

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., answers a question, Jan. 14, 2020, during a Democratic presidential primary debate hosted by CNN and the Des Moines Register in Des Moines, Iowa.
The top three trends on Twitter Wednesday morning across the United States were #CNNisTrash, #NeverWarren, and #WarrenIsaSnake.

CNN has been widely criticized for its perceived bias in moderating yesterday's Democratic presidential debate in Iowa. With just three weeks before the first primaries, six leading candidates descended upon Des Moines last night to take part. But, as with previous debates, much of the public discussion centered on the organization, framing and bias of the organizers and moderators.

CNN asked Bernie Sanders, the most left-leaning of the candidates, if he thought he "owed voters an explanation" on how much his health plan would cost them and demanded to know "how will he avoid bankrupting the country" when implementing Medicare for All. Meanwhile, on trade, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren was questioned about a new deal with Canada and Mexico and asked "why is Sanders' opposition to it wrong," giving her a puff question with which to undermine Sanders.

Comment: That such a desperate move from the Warren camp backfired so spectacularly is hardly surprising. However, Sanders seems to have bigger problems than slander at the moment, as Project Veritas has released undercover video of one of his campaigners calling for violence and 're-education' of Trump supporters in Gulags. This has the real potential to take Bernie down, as the mainstream American public are sure to be upset by the idea that one of the Presidential candidates is associated with far-left radicals. Tyranny averted, for now: Bill to end religious exemptions for vaccinations collapses in NJ

vaccine protesters

Protesters who are against ending a religious exemption for school vaccinations demonstrated on Monday outside the State House in Trenton, N.J.
The proposal had been one of the nation's broadest, but it came under intense criticism from vaccine skeptics.

It began as one of the nation's broadest proposed bans on religious exemptions to childhood vaccines.

But after weeks of sustained and boisterous protests by vaccine skeptics, as well as a last-minute effort to amend the proposed bill to win the support of key lawmakers, the effort collapsed on Monday in the New Jersey State Senate.

The Senate president, Stephen M. Sweeney, maintained that science, not protesters, would eventually emerge victorious.

Martin Luther King's 91st birthday: A reminder of an existential choice still undecided

martin luther king

Martin Luther King Jr. day has been celebrated every January 18 since it was a made a national holiday through the tireless efforts of Martin’s widow Coretta in 1983.
The world marches forward into the new year with a mix of hope and trepidation. The words of Martin Luther King who warned in his final days the universal truth that either we commit to "nonviolent coexistence or violent coannihilation" ring as true today as they did when they were spoken in 1968. In that speech, King stated prophetically that "this may well be mankind's last chance to choose between chaos and community".

Had Martin Luther King not been gunned down on the balcony of the Loraine Motel just at the very moment when he was leading a transformation of the civil rights movement into a global movement for economic justice and also resisting the Vietnam War (which today's Middle East wars are but an extension), the world might have become a very different place.

Unfortunately, a government conspiracy run by the same forces that had already killed Malcolm X and JFK earlier (and soon would also murder Bobby Kennedy) did snuff out the life of King. His spirit, however, has proven to be more resilient than his enemies ever could have dreamed. In spite of decades of effort to destroy the better soul of America that Martin died to defend, the structures of the deep state which overtook America after 1968 stand increasingly weak, insecure and exposed as ever... but not less dangerous, as witnessed by the current efforts to impose a new regime change in Iran and nuclear war with both Russia and China.

Three arrested at Pearl Harbor's main gate after live mortar round spotted in vehicle

Pearl Harbor Military Base
Three civilians were arrested at Hawaii's Joint Base Pearl-Harbor-Hickam after a security guard spotted a live mortar round in a vehicle waiting to enter the main gate late Tuesday, military officials said.

The guard at the main Nimitz Gate had ordered the vehicle to turn around when he detected the smell of marijuana and saw the ordnance in plain sight, according to spokesman Charles Anthony. The vehicle was attempting to enter the base without authorization.

An Explosive Ordnance Disposal team safely removed the round that Anthony described as "an explosive device" and "a deadly weapon." He said no firing device was found in the car and it is unknown how the men obtained the device.

Anthony said the round could be modified and triggered by something other than a traditional mortar tube, but no detonation system was found in the vehicle.

Pro-regime change Iranian 'aerospace analyst' tweets 'exclusive' video of shoot down of jet, writes book on Ukrainian airforce

babak
Wanting to know more about the PS752 flight allegedly losing its own ASD-B /GPS signal and leaving the civilian air corridor by some metres and being unable to identify itself, I was on some pilot forum looking for information. On the pilot forum there was discussion of how there was an Iranian commando base just 4 miles NE of the flight path; PS752 seemed to be assigned to PAROT 2, the SID when flying out of IKA. The plane just before being shot had for some reason turned back towards the airport. Crash site: 35°33'42.71″N 51°6'11.98″E.

The pilot forum says one "Babak Taghvaee" got it right from the beginning, even had the photos of the missile head etc. Before the formal admission came from the Iran military. In fact Babak's twitter feed claims he forced the admission from the Iranian military. On January 7, the FAA already banned US airlines from flying through Iran's airspace and most airlines were rerouting flights away from Iran/Iraq airspace even if it meant higher fuel costs. There were lots of articles on that. Iran's air defenses immediately after their missile attack on US bases in Iraq were on a state of high alert, similar to 9/11 following the planes hitting the Pentagon and Twin Towers. They were expecting a US reprisal and their chain of command was in a decentralized defensive mode.

Comment: He somehow got this exclusive today: more CCTV footage of the UA plane hit, this one showing TWO missiles being fired at it:

Sputnik reports on the newly emerged footage 'verified' by the NYT:
Newly-released video, reportedly verified on Tuesday by the New York Times, reveals two missiles launched on on 8 January allegedly from an Iranian military base in Tehran that targeted the Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) craft, moments before it was destroyed in mid-flight, killing all on board. The video, purportedly recorded by a security camera located on a roof near the village of Bidkaneh, four miles from an Iranian military site, was initially posted to YouTube by an Iranian, according to the newspaper.

Missing teenager Harley Dilly found dead inside the chimney of a vacant home

Police

Port Clinton Police Department officers search for Harley Dilly, 14, who has been missing since Dec. 20, 2019, in Port Clinton, Ohio.
Almost four weeks after 14-year-old Harley Dilly disappeared while walking to school, officials in Port Clinton, Ohio, said his body was found trapped inside the chimney of a vacant home.

Dilly left his home on Dec. 20 to go to his last day of school at Port Clinton High School before the holiday break. He never arrived.

Port Clinton Police Department Chief Robert J. Hickman tried not to break down in tears during a press conference on Tuesday where he announced that Dilly was dead. "This appears to be an accident, no foul play expected," said Hickman.

Investigators re-canvassed the area on Monday and decided to search the summer home that was under renovations. "There is no evidence of forced entry. Since there is a lockbox and anyone can go in and out of the house, we went inside to check the house," said Hickman.

Michael Avenatti arrested at Los Angeles courthouse during state bar hearing

Michael Avenatti
© Seth Wenig/AP, File
Attorney Michael Avenatti was abruptly taken into federal custody in Los Angeles Tuesday evening, following a day-long disciplinary hearing in which the California State Bar is asking a judge to prevent Avenatti from practicing law based upon their belief he poses a "threat of substantial harm to the public" if he continues to perform legal work.

Avenatti was on the stand when the court took a break and IRS agents placed him under arrest. Multiple sources told ABC News that Avenatti is accused of violating the terms of his pre-trial release. It was not immediately clear what he allegedly did to violate those terms because the documents are under seal.

The lawyer, who is facing multiple federal criminal charges in California and New York, will likely spend the night at the Metropolitan Detention Center in downtown Los Angeles or the Santa Ana jail before his appearance tomorrow in a Santa Ana federal court.

Avenatti skyrocketed to celebrity status alongside his former client, adult film star Stormy Daniels, who filed multiple lawsuits -- unsuccessfully -- against President Donald Trump. Eighteen months ago, the brash lawyer was a fixture on cable news shows and the topic of flattering pieces in Vanity Fair and The New York Times magazine. Reporters asked him about his skin-care routine and Tom Ford suits while he and Daniels posed for photographer Annie Leibovitz.

'I'm not allowing this': Yaniv vows to stop Ricky Gervais' Vancouver show

Ricky Gervais Jessica Yaniv
Trans activist Jessica Yaniv is back, and we're giving her attention yet again. After recently suing yet another immigrant-owned beauty salon for allegedly not waxing Jessica's hairy legs, Yaniv has also publicly denounced one of the world's most buzzing comedians: Ricky Gervais.

Gervais, who just knocked his Golden Globe hosting duties out of the park, recently announced that he would be touring North America and Europe, with stops in Toronto and Vancouver. While most Canadians with a good sense of humour are likely fans of Gervais, at least one Vancouverite felt as though the tour should have no place in her city.

"No," tweeted Yaniv. "I'm not allowing this," she replied to news of Gervais' visit.

Comment: Looks like the booking agent forgot to check in with Yaniv for permission before booking Gervais. Rookie mistake.
