The Spanish capital's state-owned public transport company, EMT Madrid, has introduced a new manspreading sign which forbids men from spreading their legs too wide while sitting on buses it operates.

"The mission of this new icon is to remember the need to maintain civic behavior and to respect the space of everyone on board the bus," said the company, which operates over 200 bus lines, carrying more than 400 million passengers every year.

"This new information sign is similar to those that already exist in other transport systems around the world to stop people adopting a posture that makes others uncomfortable."

Cops taser innocent disabled man and drag him off bus, breaking his hip, for not sitting down

police remove man from bus
Brad Hulett (39) is arguably one of the unluckiest men who's ever lived. When he was 12, he was hit by two trains, and permanently disabled, and a portion of his brain was removed. At 27, he was run over by a truck.

Both accidents left him permanently disabled. The train accident caused his left side to be practically useless. His brain surgery caused his skull to appear dented when half of his brain was removed. The man vs. truck incident resulted in constant back pain, aggravated most by standing.

But it wasn't until he had a run-in with Syracuse police officers that his luck, once again, took a turn for the worse. Officers were called to the bus where he was a rider on May 3, 2013.

Hulett refused to sit down, preferring to stand while holding the pole, reportedly because sitting hurt his back. When Syracuse's finest arrived, instead of noticing he is obviously disabled, and employing de-escalation techniques, the officers went straight to their tasers.

The disabled man was tased and dragged out of the bus. As a result of the officers' actions, he broke his hip in the process and had to have surgery, which left a seven-inch scar. The disabled man sued the officers, the police department, and the ambulatory services after charges against him were dismissed.

When 'Sarah' left the ultra-Orthodox Jewish faith, she became embroiled in a custody battle over her 11-year-old daughter. Her family still in the community refused her access to the girl for several months, she says.
"It's the most heartbreaking thing to not be able to contact your own child and see if she's okay, to see if she's happy, just nothing - zero contact," she told RT.

"For someone to rip that away from you is the most callous, vile, despicable thing that anyone can do. And when it's actually your own family who have done that ... that's unforgivable, and I won't forgive them - never."

A medical examiner in Texas has ruled a man's death was homicide following an altercation with an off-duty sheriff's deputy and her husband.

Local authorities are asking state and federal departments to help investigate the incident, while the family are demanding an arrest.

John Hernandez, 24, died of lack of oxygen to the brain caused by strangulation and chest compression, according to the Harris County medical examiner, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Comment: Update: Grand jury indicts Texas deputy & husband for the murder of John Hernandez
An off-duty sheriff's deputy and her husband have been indicted for murder after the husband choked a man in a Denny's parking lot in Houston. The man later died from those injuries, according to the medical examiner.

Sheriff Deputy Chauna Thompson, 45, and her husband, Terry Thompson, 41, were both indicted for the murder of John Hernandez, 24, District Attorney Kim Ogg said at a news conference Thursday.

"We believe this grand jury's true bill is a reflection of our community's belief that a crime occurred and that that crime was murder and it was participated in by Terry Thompson and his wife, Deputy Chauna Thompson," Ogg said. "We grieve with the Hernandez family and we wish them Godspeed during this difficult time."

More than a dozen witnesses testified, and a grand jury reviewed the autopsy report, the findings of the medical examiner and saw video evidence that was also released to the public. Ogg said Chauna and Terry were offered the opportunity to testify, but they both declined.

Ogg said that the couple participated in the murder under Texas accomplice law, which states that a third party is considered responsible if that person "solicits, encourages, directs, aids, or attempts to aid the other person to commit the offense."

The DA added that while they are investigating if the crime should be considered a hate crime, the grand jury has only moved on allegations of murder.

During the news conference, Ogg said that Chauna and Terry have been ordered to turn themselves in immediately, otherwise, a fugitive task force is standing by.

"We hope we don't need anything like that, there's no indication that we would," Ogg said.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez told reporters that Chauna has been "cooperative" during the process.

The couple faces five years to life in prison if convicted. Bond has been set at $100,000 each, according to KTRK.

"This is exactly what we wanted," said Jose Morales, a close friend of the Hernandez family, according to the Houston Chronicle. "Thanks to all the attention, justice is going to be served."

Seth Rich murder cover-up continues: Mainstream D.C. journalist denied FOIA requests

Seth Rich Foia
Are journalists starting to get to close to the truth in the Seth Rich case?

ABC 7's Scott Taylor was recently denied a Freedom of Information Act Request that he filed with the Government of the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department which requested copies of video footage captured at the crime scene by police officers body cameras and surveillance video captured from the hospital where DNC staffer Seth Rich was taken before his death.

Frustrated with the official response, the investigative journalist tweeted:

'Indiscriminate bombing': Leading 'NGOs' unite to criticize Mosul bombing campaign

Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, War Child and other advocacy groups have banded together to condemn the use of "inherently indiscriminate weapons" during the campaign to retake Mosul from Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL).

"The United Nations has estimated that 200,000 civilians remain in the two-square-kilometer area in west Mosul's Old City, which Iraqi and US-led coalition forces are encircling in preparation for the battle there," said a joint statement from the six prominent NGOs.

"All warring parties should cease using explosive weapons with wide area effects and inherently indiscriminate weapons in densely populated west Mosul. ISIS's unlawful use of civilians as 'human shields' and the difficulty of identifying civilians in buildings increases the risk of civilian casualties."

Donald Trump Jr.
Donald Trump Jr lambasted the 'BS' testimony of former FBI Director James Comey to the Senate Intelligence Committee in a series of irate tweets during Thursday's hearing.

The eyes of the world were drawn to Comey's testimony as many wondered if US President Donald Trump - the subject of many of the questions at the hearing - would respond to the ex-FBI director's remarks.

Ex-director Comey is before the committee to answer questions about his firing by Trump last month, and whether the president pressured him to abandon an investigation into ties between his administration and Russia.

A US college in chaos: No safety, no learning, no future

campus closed
The Evergreen State College's internal chaos is now intertwined with falling enrollment.

The next few days are critical for the future of The Evergreen State College.

The public state college near Olympia has become a national caricature of intolerant campus liberalism in both The New York Times and Fox News. At least one professor has been harangued and classes disrupted by shouting mobs of students accusing the famously progressive campus of "systemic racism."

That coverage apparently has incited anonymous threats of mass murder, resulting in the campus being closed for three days. In the critical last week of school, students have been deprived of learning by extremes on the left and right.

Comment: But mostly the "left".
