'End of days' signaled by birth of red heifer in Israel (thanks to fanatical breeding program) say Hebrew scholars

If proven to be the true, unblemished red heifer of prophecy it could signal the end of days
Rabbinical scholars are treating the birth of an entirely red heifer in Israel as a potential omen for the rebuilding of the Third Temple. Evangelical Christians, citing Biblical prophecy, believe it means the end of days is nigh.

If proven to be the cow of prophecy, the young calf will be the first true red heifer born in 2,000 years, an event that is meant to foreshadow the construction of the Third Temple in Jerusalem, heralding the arrival of the Jewish Messiah. Evangelical Christian theologians also believe the construction of the Third Temple will lead to Judgement Day.

The Temple Institute announced the birth via YouTube adding that the auspicious calf "brings the promise of reinstating Biblical purity to the world." The Institute claims to be "dedicated to every aspect of the Holy Temple of Jerusalem, and the central role it fulfilled, and will once again fulfill, in the spiritual well-being of both Israel and all the nations of the world."

Slipping Backwards, The West is Losing Liberalism

blake temptation painting

William Blake, The Temptation and Fall of Eve, 1808 (illustration of Milton's Paradise Lost)
We're slipping backwards. The steady progress which Western societies had been making toward empiricism, rationalism and tolerance is going into reverse.

We are becoming more tribal, more intuitive, more impervious to evidence. And oddly, it's happening, not as a result of war or poverty, but during a sustained rise in living standards.

Consider, to pluck a recent example, the New Yorker's decision to drop Steve Bannon from its "ideas festival." Bannon isn't my cup of tea ideologically - I'm a mainstream small-government conservative, whereas he pals about with Left-wing European populists who happen to be anti-immigrant (and are therefore inaccurately labeled "far-Right"). But, having invited him, it was extraordinary to disinvite him. Quite apart from the rudeness, the cowardice and the self-defeating publicity, it showed how far the New Yorker - and, indeed, the liberal media generally - have moved from genuine liberalism, in the sense of openness to at least hearing different ideas.

It is this aspect of the whole affair that is the most troubling and yet, sadly, the least remarkable. The New Yorker was effectively saying, "Your take on the world is so jarring that it may not be heard." That attitude is the opposite of liberalism. Liberalism, at least the English-speaking strain which is its best and truest variant, traces its pedigree back via John Stuart Mill and John Locke to John Milton, the Puritan poet whose dislike of authority was so pronounced that, in Paradise Lost, he couldn't help portraying God as lordly, arid and cruel. In 1644, at the height of England's civil and religious conflicts, he published Areopagitica, the first modern defense of freedom and free expression.

Comment: The answer probably lies in this line by the author:
"The sheer persistence of that idea across continents and centuries suggests that our notion of personal autonomy is the more difficult one to sustain."
The vast majority of people are 'not ready for' autonomy, if indeed they ever will be, or ever were meant to be, for that matter. They don't want it, though many merrily dabble in the illusion that they do, joining 'causes' and fighting for their 'tribe', spouting about freedom of speech and social justice, convinced of their rightness, when in truth they are vastly more ignorant than the person who knows himself to be so.

DC millionaire's network of secret tunnels discovered after house fire kills worker hired to dig them

As people scoff at the idea of secret tunnels under Washington D.C. as a wild conspiracy theory, a deadly fire recently exposed a vast network under a millionaire's home.

Ever since the beginning of the Pizzagate conspiracy theory, rumors have abounded of a network of secret underground tunnels in which children are trafficked to the elite in Washington D.C. Now, although there were no tunnels found under the Comet Ping Pong Pizzeria, a network of tunnels was recently discovered that makes these rumors not so far fetched.

Daniel Beckwitt, a 27-year-old day trader who lived in Washington D.C. has recently been indicted on charges of second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter. The charges stem from the death of 21-year-old Askia Khafra-who died digging tunnels for the millionaire under his D.C. home.

Existential crisis? The UK is on the verge of anarchy

Theresa May

UK PM Theresa May
Whilst our esteemed leader, Theresa May, is busy sabre rattling and threatening a cyber war against Russia, who she sees as the major threat to our way of life, perhaps she could just pause for a moment and look in to a mirror and wonder how much personal responsibility she has for the murder and mayhem that is happening on the streets of the UK.

I think more people are concerned about their safety from gun wielding, knife slashing and acid throwing yobs than from this pantomime of the danger of so-called Novichok.

Today the Times is saying that the amount of nerve gas in that perfume bottle could have killed up to 4 thousand people. However later in the article, in fact, buried deep in the article, is this paragraph, "Sources said that the estimate that the sample could have killed 4,000 people was a figure at the "extreme end of a wide range" but that the dosage was undoubtedly sufficient to cause significant loss of life."

Comment: It's a safe bet she will do neither of those. What a train-wreck the UK is becoming.

Saudi airstrike on al-Qahira Castle
According to Sky News Arabia, a terrorist has been eliminated in the province of Abyan, located in the southern part of Yemen. The operation was reportedly carried out by a US drone.

One of the heads of the al-Qaeda terrorist group was killed on Sunday by an airstrike in Yemen, the Sky News Arabia broadcaster reported.

US Central Command earlier claimed that since May 16 their forces had carried out six airstrikes against the al-Qaeda militants in the Shabwah, Hadramawt and Bayda governorates of the country.

Extremists have significantly strengthened their positions in the country, especially after the beginning of the civil war between the Houthi movement and the government, headed by President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi. The government is supported by a Saudi-led coalition, which has been carrying out airstrikes against the Houthis at his request since March 2015.

A study by research firm Wealth-X has found that the number of ultra-rich people rose 13 percent worldwide in 2017, totaling about 256,000 individuals with combined assets of $31.5 trillion.

According to the report, Asia saw the fastest growth, driven by mainland China and Hong Kong. The growth in the number of people worth $30 million or more (the so-called ultra-high-net-worth individuals) surged 19 percent in Asia, twice the growth rate of North America.

"Asia-Pacific is forecast to close the ultra-wealth gap with other regions over the next five years, but is expected to remain behind Europe, the Middle East and Africa in absolute terms," the report said.

Asia's financial hub Hong Kong saw its ultra-wealthy population explode by 31 percent in 2017 to more than 10,000, overtaking New York's 9,000 super-rich residents for the first time. Tokyo ranked third with 6,800 multimillionaires. China is home to 26 of the world's 30 fastest-growing cities for the ultra-rich.

Once the gold is processed, it is expected to yield a combined price of roughly Can$15 million ($11.3 million)
Miners in Western Australia have made what many believe to be two of the biggest gold nugget discoveries in recorded history, just four days apart.

"You might go your whole life and you'll never see anything like it. It's definitely a once-in-a-lifetime discovery," senior geologist Zaf Thanos said, as quoted by ABC Australia.

"As a geologist, like I said, you get excited by a pinhead speck. But to see something on this scale is just phenomenal. This sort of bonanza zone is incredibly unique."

Miners uncovered the amazing specimens in the first week of September at the 45-year-old Beta Hunt, which is operated by Canadian company RNC Minerals, and located near the small town of Kambalda, 630km east of Perth.

Cereal offender: Saudi Arabia arrests man for... having breakfast with female colleague

Breakfast with Egyptian man

Saudi authorities have arrested an Egyptian man after a video, showing him eating breakfast with a female colleague in a hotel in Jeddah, went viral.

The man filmed himself sitting beside his co-worker, who is dressed in a niqab, as they shared a meal together at their desk.

The video shows the pair waving at the camera and showing off their food. At one point in the clip the woman can be seen feeding a piece of food to the man - an action which appears to have fuelled the online outrage and led to calls for her to also be punished.

One Twitter user said a religious woman should put up barriers between her and her co-workers. She blamed the woman for the debacle, while another Saudi poster also questioned why the woman was not being punished; "Laughter, eating at the workplace... where are your limits?" she wrote.
