Society's Child
Stelter made his claim on the latest edition of his CNN series Reliable Sources when he asked Yale professor Timothy Snyder how the "reality-based media" - like CNN - should cover Republicans like Donald Trump, who continue to float theories about the 2020 presidential election being fraudulent.
Snyder's advice was to "drop the fair and balanced approach" and to "make democracy itself the story," seemingly endorsing more negative coverage of Republicans than Democrats.
According to the NYT, the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo is planning to do all that and more, as it says it may soon fire about 400 employees who have chosen not to get the single job required by the edict (which was pushed through despite being blocked by a federal judge).
Similarly, officials at Northwell Health, the state's largest health-care provider, estimate that NWH might be forced to fire thousands of people who have refused to get vaccinated.
In an economy with more job openings than workers - 2.2MM more, to be exact - forcing workers to choose between employment and their health or religious compunctions simply isn't a smart idea.
Without even a hint of self-awareness, the governor apparently agrees: "What is looming for Monday is completely avoidable, and there's no excuses," Ms. Hochul said, pleading for those who have not done so to get vaccinated," Hochul said during a weekend press briefing.
But we digress.
Comment: Getting the picture? The better informed and stalwart healthcare professionals (among others) refuse to get jabbed with dangerous vaccines - and all that the authoritarians who are implementing the policies of medical tyranny know how to do is double down on their edicts. The brewing storm of disintegrating healthcare in the US (and elsewhere) is getting even worse.

"All our son did is ask the questions that everybody was asking themselves, but they were too scared to speak out loud," Scheller's father, Stu Scheller Sr., told Task & Purpose. "He was asking for accountability. In fact, I think he even asked for an apology that we made mistakes, but they couldn't do that, which is mind-blowing."
Scheller first rose to internet stardom by posting a video to Facebook blasting military leaders for the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, questioning their command decisions on the events leading up to and during the final evacuation effort.
Comment: And from the Gateway Pundit:
Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller, a 17-year veteran, risked his career and pension when he posted a scathing rebuke of the senior military leaders who failed US servicemen serving in Afghanistan.Powerful integrity: Marine who slammed military over Afghan mess says he's resigning - Updates
Joe Biden's incompetence and corruption led to the death of 13 US servicemen and 15 more were critically wounded in a blast by a suicide bomber in Kabul on Thursday.
"I want to say this very strongly. I have been fighting for 17 years. I am willing to throw it all away to say to my senior leaders: I demand accountability," said Scheller.
"I'm not saying we've got to be in Afghanistan forever. But I am saying, did any of you throw your rank on the table and say, 'Hey, it's a bad idea to evacuate Bagram Airfield, a strategic airbase, before we evacuate everyone'? Did anyone do that? And when you didn't think to do that, did anyone raise their hand and say, 'We completely messed this up'?" Scheller added.
"I thought through, if I post this video, what might happen to me — especially if the video picks up traction, if I have the courage to post it," he said."But I think what you believe in can only be defined by what you're willing to risk. If I'm willing to risk my current battalion seat, my retirement, my family's stability to say some of the things I want to say, I think it gives me some moral high ground to demand the same honesty, integrity, and accountability from my senior leaders."The video went viral.
Following his public scolding, Lt. Scheller submitted his resignation letter to his superiors effective 9/11.
On Monday Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller was arrested and sent to the brig.
You are not allowed to speak out against Joe Biden. Even if you retire from your post earlier in the month.
All this to say, when Ioannidis speaks, people tend to listen. Since the beginning of the Covid-19 circus, Ioannidis has been critical of the scientific claims being made about the virus and the measures that have been taken to deal with it. So it is probably a good idea to pay attention to his recent article "How the Pandemic Is Changing the Norms of Science".
In the essay, Ioannidis reflects on the damage that has been done to science through the corrupting influence of politics during the pandemic. "Trust the science" has become a slogan bleeted out by politicians wishing to push an agenda and has little if anything to do with science in and of itself.

Stop Antisemitism, which was launched in 2018, has listed many Americans as its "Antisemite of the week," including pop star Dua Lipa, Daily Show host Trevor Noah, MSNBC's Mehdi Hasan, and even Human Rights Watch executive director Ken Roth - a Jewish American whose father was a refugee from Nazi Germany.
After Massie became the only Republican congressman to vote against further funding for Israel's Iron Dome missile system last week - an act consistent with his politically libertarian and fiscally conservative track record in Congress - Stop Antisemitism set its sights on the representative, publishing a photo of his face with "JEW HATER" stamped on top.

At least 25 people are in hospital, and about 100 residents of the block of flats in the centre of Gothenburg, on the west coast of Sweden, were evacuated after the explosion, according to Swedish Radio.
"I woke up to the bang, I first thought it must be a firecracker. Then people started screaming hysterically. 'Get out!' Neighbours started knocked on the doors", Tone Ploman, who lives nearby, told the newspaper Dagens Nyheter.
The causes of the explosion, and the exact building where it occurred, are unknown so far.
Comment: It remains to be seen whether this is a criminal act - because Sweden has been subjected to numerous incidents, such as car bombs, in recent years - or whether this can be put down to natural causes; whether that be human error, or whether this is yet another example to add to the list of unusual explosions and fires that, recently, have been occurring with an increasing frequency:

People out on the streets to celebrate the end of the COVID-19 restrictions, in Oslo, Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021. Police in Norway on Sunday reported dozens of disturbances and violent clashes including mass brawls in the Nordic country’s big cities after streets, bars, restaurants and nightclubs were filled with people celebrating the end of COVID-19 restrictions. The Norwegian government abruptly announced Friday that most of the remaining coronavirus restrictions would be scrapped from Saturday and that life in the nation of 5.3 million would return to normal.
The Norwegian government abruptly announced Friday that most of the remaining coronavirus restrictions would be scrapped beginning Saturday and that life in the nation of 5.3 million would return to normal.
The unexpected announcement by outgoing Prime Minister Erna Solberg to drop coronavirus restrictions the next day took many Norwegians by surprise and led to chaotic scenes in the capital, Oslo, and elsewhere in the country.

The companies, Avro Energy and Green Supplier Limited (often referred to simply as 'Green'), have ceased trading amid the crisis, the Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem) energy regulator announced on Wednesday. The watchdog insisted the customers of now-bust companies have nothing to worry about, promising a steady supply of energy to them in the wake of the news.
"If you're a customer, please don't worry - you can rely on your energy supply as normal. We will now switch you to a new supplier," Ofgem stated. The companies join several other small British energy suppliers that have gone bust over the past few days amid the ongoing natural gas prices hike. According to UK media estimates, the now-defunct companies served more than 1.5 million clients combined.

Andreas Malm is an associate professor at Sweden's Lund University, and the author of the book "How to Blow Up a Pipeline: Learning to Fight in a World on Fire." Malm's book does not only have an eye-catching title; he actually advocates destroying any and all fossil fuel infrastructure.
Malm wrote in his book, "Damage and destroy new CO2-emitting devices. Put them out of commission, pick them apart, demolish them, burn them, blow them up. Let the capitalists who keep on investing in the fire know that their properties will be trashed."
Comment: One wonders if the New York Times and the New Yorker would be content to see activist blowing up pipelines if it meant their own energy consumption would be cut. You can't accrue a whole lot of clicks (or advertising revenue) if the power is out.

This combination of photos shows co-hosts Sunny Hostin (left) and Ana Navarro on the set of "The View," in New York on Sept. 17.
Hostin and Navarro were unceremoniously yanked from Friday's broadcast of the hit daytime TV show after reportedly testing positive for COVID-19 halfway through the show, on which Vice President Kamala Harris was a guest.
According to the report, one person reported to have inside knowledge of the incident said, "[Sunny] is definitely returning to the studio [on Monday]. [Parent company] Disney said they're clear. No quarantining is necessary."
