A Hawaii-based US Army soldier who is accused of providing material support to ISIS was obsessed with terrorist videos, laughing at them and insulting the victims, an unsealed FBI affidavit and other court documents show.

The papers unsealed on Monday and seen by AP include revelations from an FBI informant, who the soldier - Ikaika Erik Kang - believed to be an ISIS member. Kang was assigned to Schofield Barracks, a US Army installation in Honolulu and served with the 25th Combat Aviation Brigade before his arrest in July 2017.

The soldier began researching Islam in 2014 and was obsessed with ISIS videos showing beheadings and suicide bombings, according to the unnamed informant. He could watch them four or five hours each day and more on the weekends, the informant recalled, remembering "feeling sick to his stomach, while Kang laughed and insulted the victims"of terrorist attacks.

New York City is suing eight companies that make or distribute prescription opioids for their role in the ongoing opioid crisis. The suits aim to recover $500 million for current and future costs combating the epidemic.

Mayor Bill de Blasio said opioids killed more people in the city in recent years than car crashes and homicides.

"Big Pharma helped to fuel this epidemic by deceptively peddling these dangerous drugs and hooking millions of Americans in exchange for profit," Mayor de Blasio said in a statement about the suits filed in New York State Supreme Court on Tuesday. "It's time [to] hold the companies accountable for what they've done to our city, and help save more lives."

Okinawa Governor Takeshi Onaga slammed the US forces in Japan as being "out of control" and "crazy," following a string of high-profile incidents involving military helicopters.

"The U.S. military is out of control. There is no oversight," Onaga said on Wednesday, in the wake of three military helicopters making emergency landings in the space of a month, Kyodo News reports.

Onaga was on his way to Tokyo to meet with the leader of the Komeito party to call for a thorough investigation into the circumstances of an attack helicopter's precautionary landing in Tonaki village on Tuesday, the latest in a series of chopper mishaps to take place in January.

'Jihadi Sid', another Brit, has become the Islamic State's (IS, formerly ISIS) new executioner replacing the notorious 'Jihadi John'. Now US officials have put ex-bouncy castle salesman, turned terrorist, on its global kill list.

Siddhartha Dhar, named in the UK media as 'Jihadi Sid,' was designated a global terrorist on Tuesday by the US State Department. It said Dhar has now become the group's executioner, replacing Brit 'Jihadi John', real name Mohammed Emwazi, who was killed in a 2015 drone strike after becoming one of the top targets for the US-led coalition fighting IS.

Who is the UK's new must-kill terrorist? The former bouncy-castle salesman was raised as a Hindu, but converted to Islam for his wife Aisha. Neighbors in Walthamstow, east London, say she may have set Dhar on the road to extremism.

Conan O'Brien attempts to refute Trump's Haiti s***hole remark by holding a staged photo-op at luxury resort

conan o'brien
Comedian Conan O'Brien tried to rebut President Trump's claim that Haiti was a "sh*thole" but the joke ended up backfiring on him after it was revealed O'Brien had merely staged his photos from inside a luxury tourist resort.

"#Haiti is truly a beautiful country," tweeted O'Brien alongside a picture of him in the ocean sipping from a coconut.

The comedian's intention was obviously to imply that the rest of the country was just as idyllic as the scene in the photograph.

A law that has seen hundreds of people handed life sentences for murders they did not commit will be debated by MPs on Thursday. 'Joint enterprise' doesn't require that a person plans or intends to kill, or is even at the scene.

Grassroots campaign group JENGbA, or Joint Enterprise Not Guilty by Association, supports more than 800 prisoners serving mandatory life sentences. The law has been labelled "racist" by the group, as some 80 percent of joint enterprise prisoners are from black and ethnic minority (BAME) communities.

A placard targeting "old white men" which was held up by a woman at a march in London has been reported as a hate crime by a member of UKIP.

Angered UKIP Assembly group leader Peter Whittle shared the image on Twitter. The picture shows a woman with pink hair sitting on a man's shoulders at a protest march in the British capital, holding up a sign which reads: "No country for old white men."

Whittle said on Twitter:
"I wish to report this placard, photographed at the Women's March in Whitehall London on January 21st, as a possible hate crime @MetCC."

Comment: Goose, gander. Why shouldn't Whittle report the tweet? He is only turning the SJW tactics against them. But by their rules, as a member of the 'patriarchy', he has no legitimate defense.

Bloody favoritism! Oxford University gives extra time to complete exams in order to boost female students' scores

Oxford University exam times were increased in a bid to improve the low scores of women, it has emerged.

Students taking maths and computer science examinations in the summer of 2017 were given an extra 15 minutes to complete their papers, after dons ruled that "female candidates might be more likely to be adversely affected by time pressure". There was no change to the length or difficulty of the questions.

It was the first time such steps had been taken. In previous years, the percentage of male students awarded first class degrees was double that of women and in 2016 the board of examiners suggested that the department make changes to improve women's grades.

However, despite the intention being to lessen gender discrepancies, the main effect of the time increase appears to have been an increase in the number of 2:1s overall, with 2:2 figures falling. Men continued to be awarded more first class degrees than women in the two subjects.

Comment: It's usually considered sexist to suggest that women require special treatment in academia but in the social justice world nobody really wants equal treatment, they just want favoritism.

A student who was seeking love on dating app Tinder was stabbed to death in her car, shortly after sending texts saying she was "looking over her shoulder" and reporting her fears to the police.

Molly McLaren, 23, sent a WhatsApp message to friends expressing fears for her safety after she broke up with Joshua Stimpson, 26, who she had met through the Tinder app.

The blood-soaked man was arrested in the parking lot at the Dockside retail outlet in Chatham, Kent, on June 29, 2017, jurors were told. McLaren was found dead in her nearby car, shortly after she sent a text to her friends which read: "[I] feel like I'm f****** looking over my shoulder all the time."

Stimpson, who dated McLaren for seven months, admits manslaughter but denies murder, arguing diminished responsibility. The pair had broken up two weeks before McLaren was killed in a stabbing frenzy with a kitchen knife.
