New York Times ascribes Gaza's misery to 'Palestinian infighting'

Israel bombing Gaza
The New York Times has published a long article about Gaza's misery that begins on the front page today, and then takes up an entire inside page, under the headline, "With Gaza in Financial Crisis, Fears That 'an Explosion's Coming.'" The article is a manifesto from Hasbara Central - the Israeli propaganda arm - explaining the worsening Gaza tragedy as the product of Palestinian infighting. An Israeli general is quoted at length by reporter David Halbfinger; United Nations and human rights officials are not quoted at all.

The article states this theme from the start:
At the heart of the crisis - and its most immediate cause - is a crushing financial squeeze, the result of a tense standoff between Hamas, the militant Islamist group that rules Gaza, and Fatah, the secular party entrenched on the West Bank.

Judge who refused to drop Assange's warrant questioned over links to security services

Julian Assange judge mocked online by WikiLeaks founder supporters
Julian Assange's supporters are questioning the integrity of the judge who upheld his UK arrest warrant, accusing her of being influenced by the British authorities and the secret service.

Earlier this week, Judge Emma Arbuthnot rejected arguments presented by Assange's legal team over why he breached bail conditions by seeking political refuge at the Ecuadorian embassy in 2012.

Judge Arbuthnot said she rejected the activist's request to have his warrant dropped out of fear that he could be extradited to the US, where he would face espionage charges. Since there is no extradition treaty between the UK and Ecuador, Assange cannot be arrested inside the embassy's grounds.

Comment: Craig Murray writes more about this charade of a trial:
The truth is that just last week the evidence was published which inarguably proves that the questioning for sexual allegations was only ever a charade to secure Assange in custody for deportation to the US, to face charges for publishing the USA's dirty secrets. In 2013 Sweden wished to drop the investigation and the arrest warrant, and was subject to strong persuasion from the Crown Prosecution Service to maintain the warrant. This included emails from the CPS telling the Swedes "Don't you dare" drop the case, and most tellingly of all "Please do not think this case is being dealt with as just another extradition." That last exposes the entire pretence in just one sentence.

That's what an Upstate South Carolina man said about the awful discovery he made Tuesday morning while out for a walk.

Fifteen dead dogs were found dead in a Laurens County community, by Mickey Fortin.

All of the dogs were chihuahuas and all of them appeared to have been shot, said Laurens County Animal Control supervisor Giles Gilmer, greenvilleonline.com reported.

As Israel's war on free speech continues, boycotting is the right thing to do

Israel's war on free speech continues

Tracking the consequences of Israel's apparent conviction that it should never be bound by the rules and conventions that constrain the behavior of other countries sometimes leads one into dark places. The daily torments inflicted on the Palestinians is increasingly a horrific tale that has no apparent end, while Benjamin Netanyahu struts and boasts of his power to do more and even worse, openly calling for war with Lebanon, Syria and Iran on a world stage where no one seems willing to confront him.

I have chronicled how Israel does terrible damage to the United States, through inciting war, its financial demands, and its unparalleled ability to make Washington complicit in its war crimes and general inhumanity. But, as bad as it is, in some areas the worst is yet to come, as Israel and its hubristic leaders know no limits and fear no consequences, thanks to the uncritical support from the American Establishment, a large percentage of which is Jewish, that is unwilling to take a strong stand against Netanyahu and all his works.

Israel has been particularly successful at promoting its preferred narrative, together with sanctions for those who do not concur, in the English language speaking world and also in France, which has the largest Jewish population in Europe. The sanctions generally consist of legal penalties for those criticizing Israel or questioning the accuracy of the accepted holocaust narrative, i.e. disputing that "6 million died."

How does climate change obsession affect families? A NYT post about the Valve Turners provides an unexpected insight into the tragic consequences of what happens when someone truly believes in climate doomsday.

Comment: There's no need to force your beliefs on your family - though it may be this person was unstable to begin with. And just as tragic is that all of his beliefs were based on lies, because we're entering a period of global cooling, and it has nothing to do with 'carbon emissions'.

Rights groups warn immigrants about Florida travel as arrests soar

illegal immigration border sign
More than a dozen advocacy groups issued a warning about traveling in Florida on Wednesday saying immigration arrests there have soared more rapidly in the past year than in any other area of the country.

Leaders from immigrant rights and nonprofit organizations said new cooperation between Immigration and Customs Enforcement and 17 Florida sheriffs is also spreading fear in the state.

The travel advisory issued by 15 groups warns immigrants from other states to reconsider Florida trips or to be ready to encounter immigration agents at airports, sea ports and bus stations.

"We are taking the step of warning our communities that as the Florida lawmakers, state, local and federal do not take steps to push back against the anti-immigrant policies, we do not feel like our communities are safe in the state," said Tomas Kennedy, deputy political director at the Florida Immigrant Coalition.

US fan defies Olympic Committee by waving Russian flag in support of "innocent" Russian athletes

us fan defies olympics russia flag
While all the talk at the Olympics was about the historic event of the two Koreans marching under a unified flag, this American citizen drew the worlds attention by waving another flag - The Russian Imperial Tricolor.

Who would have thought an American fan would have been among those flying the banned Russian flag? RT interviewed the fan who explained he was trying to avoid the political issues, and rather send a message of support to Russian athletes who were unfairly banned. He explained that the Russian athletes participating are clearly innocent of any wrongdoing, and they are being punished for what others "may or may not" have done.

Comment: The US and Western establishment can't help themselves; they're bitter, manipulative, sore losers, and not just when it comes to the Olympics:

Hungary introduces legislation to ban "national security risk" NGOs like those of George Soros

Anti soros poster hungary
Hungary's nationalist government introduced legislation that would empower the interior minister to ban non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that support migration and pose a "national security risk".

The bill, submitted to parliament late on Tuesday, is a key part of Prime Minister Viktor Orban's anti-immigration campaign targeting U.S. financier George Soros whose philanthropy aims to bolster liberal and open-border values in eastern Europe.

The government says the bill, which would also impose a 25 percent tax on foreign donations to NGOs that back migration in Hungary, is meant to deter illegal immigration Orban says is eroding European stability and has been stoked in part by Soros.

Comment: Soros' diabolical meddling is well documented:

The Taliban, who are fighting to thwart foreign forces and defeat the US-backed government, declared that the US must end its "occupation" and accept the Taliban's right to form a government "consistent with the beliefs of the people."

The Taliban offer of dialogue came in a statement addressed to the American people.

"Our preference is to solve the Afghan issue through peaceful dialogue," the Taliban said on Wednesday, while warning that their readiness to find peace should not be taken as a sign of weakness and that their armed campaign would be sustained no matter how powerful the US opposition is.
