Andrew Feather
DIY detective work by the father of murder convict Andrew Feather has cast doubt on the reliability of CCTV evidence gathered by police to jail him, his family told RT, as they prepare to appeal his case.

Feather, 27, was jailed under so-called joint enterprise law for a minimum of 26 years in 2014 after he was convicted of being the secondary getaway driver in the murder of Bradford man Barry Selby, 50. The father-of-three was confronted at 2am by a masked gang who burst into his bedroom, shot him in the knee and covered him with acid, resulting in injuries that would lead to his death four days later.

Feather has always protested his innocence, saying he was driving around the Holmewood estate where he lived at the time of the killing. In 2016, Feather and his three co-accused - Lee Calvert, Robert Woodhead and Joseph Lowther - had appeals against their convictions thrown out, but each had their minimum jail sentences cut. Feather now must serve 20 years.

"The case against him is all about CCTV. But the timings are just all wrong - they even don't marry up," Feather's mother, Michelle Feather, told RT. "If they don't marry up, how can they possibly say that this is my son's car? They can't.

If America 'won the Cold War,' why is the Empire pushing a 'second Cold War' with Russia?

new cold war

Cohen has been warning about the danger of an American-post-Soviet Cold War for nearly 20 years. During those years, representatives of the US political-media establishment have insisted that such a recapitulation was impossible because Russia was too weak; any US-Russian conflicts were regional, not global, and limited; and because the two countries now had the same social-economic system, capitalism, there was no ideological conflict between them. Any attentive observer of relations between Washington and Moscow at least since the early 2000s could have seen the unfolding reality, but only recently have authoritative representatives of the bipartisan American establishment acknowledged the new Cold War or "second Cold War with Russia." It was openly declared by the highly influential and fully bipartisan Council on Foreign Relations. It is implicit in the US Department of Defense's February Nuclear Posture Review, which specifies Russia as a global threat. And it underlies daily Russiagate allegations that "the Kremlin attacked American democracy" in 2016 and is now attacking democracies around the world. Indeed, these hyperbolic accounts often make "Putin's Russia" appear to be more menacing, invidious, and looming than was the Soviet Union.

"The Trump administration is letting oil companies dump toxic fracking chemicals into the Gulf with no regard for the risks or the law," said Kristen Monsell, a senior attorney at the Center for Biological Diversity.
The environmental group says 10 fracking chemicals were being routinely being dumped into ocean waters.

Several environmental groups have sued the Trump administration for allowing oil companies to dump fracking and drilling waste into the waters of Gulf of Mexico, endangering marine species and environment.

The Center for Biological Diversity, Gulf Restoration Network, and Louisiana Bucket Brigade are challenging the Environmental Protection Agency, EPA's Clean Water Act, which allows the oil companies to dump hazardous waste in the waters, through the lawsuit filed on Tuesday.

"The Trump administration is letting oil companies dump toxic fracking chemicals into the Gulf with no regard for the risks or the law," said Kristen Monsell, a senior attorney at the Center for Biological Diversity.

Comment: Another nail in the coffin for the Gulf of Mexico which is also being poisoned by commercial agricultural practices:

The Gulf of Mexico is now the largest dead zone in the world - and we have factory farming to blame for it

As part of joint agreement, Russia takes over oil and gas production in Syria

putin assad
It finally happened...

In accordance with an energy cooperation framework agreement signed in late January, Russia will have exclusive rights to produce oil and gas in Syria.

The agreement goes significantly beyond that, stipulating the modalities of the rehabilitation of damaged rigs and infrastructure, energy advisory support, and training a new generation of Syrian oilmen. Still, the main international aspect and the key piece of this move is the final and unconditional consolidation of Russian interests in the Middle East.

Before the onset of the blood-drenched Civil War, Syrian oil production wavered around 380,000 barrels per day. It has declined for some time then, since its all-time peak production rate of 677,000 barrels per day in 2002. Although the Islamic State was allegedly driven underground, the current output still stands at a devastating 14-15,000 barrels per day.

A woman in India has been arrested after posing as a man and marrying two females for their dowries, allegedly abusing one of them to get her hands on the loot.

The bizarre scam apparently began when 26-year-old Sweety Sen from the state of Uttar Pradesh created a fake Facebook profile under the name Krishna Sen in 2013. She then uploaded photos of herself wearing men's clothing and used the account to get in touch with women, according to Senior Superintendent of Police Janmejay Khanduri, as cited by Indian Express.

In 2014, Sen and members of her family traveled to the town of Kathgodam to meet a 22-year-old woman that she had got in touch with on Facebook.

"Sen had convinced her that she [Sen] was a man," Khanduri said. The two were married the same year and began living together in a rented house. However, the perceived marital bliss ended when Sen began assaulting the woman for her dowry, police allege.

Would you like £10,000 for doing absolutely nothing? Well, you may be in luck, provided you're under 55. The cash boon could pave the way for everyone in the UK to receive a basic state income, according to a recent report.

A paper by the Royal Society for the encouragement of the Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA) said the £10,000 ($14,000) payment, which would be split into two payments of £5,000 paid over two years, would mean that certain welfare benefits and tax reliefs would be removed.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) began collecting submissions of alleged war crimes from Afghan citizens three months ago. Since then, it has received over 1.17 million allegations, according to a report by The AP.

The statements were collected between November 20, 2017, and January 31, 2018, by organizations based in Europe and Afghanistan who subsequently submitted them to the ICC. Claims of atrocities carried out by the Taliban, Islamic State, IS (formerly ISIS), Afghan security forces, government-affiliated warlords, the US-led coalition, as well as foreign and domestic intelligence agents were all submitted.

The total number of Afghans seeking justice could reach the millions but has yet to be definitively determined, as one statement might be made on behalf of multiple victims, while one organization may be responsible for thousands of such statements.

"It is shocking there are so many," Abdul Wadood Pedram of the Human Rights and Eradication of Violence Organization said, as cited by The AP, noting that in some instances, whole villages had given statements. "It shows how the justice system in Afghanistan is not bringing justice for the victims and their families."

Most frequent flyers have been seated near a crying toddler at some point during their travels, but very few have been forced to endure the same "nightmare" as Shane Townley.

Townley, an artist from New York City, was one of the unlucky passengers who shared an 8-hour Lufthansa flight from Germany to New Jersey with a "demonic" tantrum-throwing child who screamed throughout the whole trip, according to viral footage Townley shared on YouTube.

"Watch as this kid runs and screams throughout the entire flight while the mother does little to nothing to stop him," wrote Townley. "[Three]-year-old on a 8-hour flight from Germany to Newark NJ. He never quits!"

In Townley's video, which has since amassed nearly 1 million views on YouTube, the young boy can be seen screaming, crying and standing up in his seat before the plane even departs. And just before takeoff, Townley said the child's tantrum took a turn for the "demonic."

Student witnesses report multiple shooters & mass shooting drill at Florida high school

Multiple students have since come forward after the tragic shooting in Parkland, Florida on Wednesday with details that raise some serious questions. These students have reported that a mass casualty drill was scheduled that day as well as at least one other student reporting multiple shooters.

It is important to point out that we are not claiming what these students are saying is true, however, we feel that their points of view are certainly newsworthy.

In one chilling account, a high school student not only told reporters that she witnessed multiple shooters, but she also explained how she was talking to the suspect, Nikolas Cruz, as she heard rounds being fired down the hall.

Presidential candidate Ksenia Sobchak and President Vladimir Putin
The Russian Supreme Court rejected a lawsuit - filed by another candidate in the race - seeking the cancellation of President Vladimir Putin's registration as a candidate for the 2018 election.

The lawsuit requesting Putin be removed from the presidential race was filed in mid-February by presidential candidate, journalist and socialite Ksenia Sobchak, who is running as a candidate for the pro-business party Civil Platform. She describes herself as a "none of the above" candidate for those who wish to register their disapproval against the political situation in Russia.

In a letter to the court, Sobchak explained that Putin's candidacy should be annulled because he has already repeatedly occupied the post, saying that he was elected president three times and also was acting president in early 2000, before he was first elected.
