Vile human being Donald Trump hails torture and mass executions in South Carolina rally

Donald Trump closed his South Carolina campaign on Friday with a rambling speech highlighted by a giddy, almost childlike, enthusiasm for torturing and summarily executing the suspected enemies of America in the name of safety.

Trump was in free-association mode ahead of Saturday's primary, dwelling for an extended time on one topic, like heroin in New Hampshire or Japan's monetary policy, and then jumping to another.

"I'm really good at the trade," the billionaire told a crowd of thousands. "I'm really good at the borders."

The standout topic, however, was terrorism and national security. Trump repeated - favorably - an apparent myth about how General John Pershing summarily executed dozens of Muslim prisoners in the Philippines with tainted ammunition during a guerilla war against the occupying United States.

"He took fifty bullets, and he dipped them in pig's blood," Trump said. "And he had his men load his rifles and he lined up the fifty people, and they shot 49 of those people. And the fiftieth person he said 'You go back to your people and you tell them what happened.' And for 25 years there wasn't a problem, okay?"

Bernie Sanders dodging foreign policy discussions is a clear sign of his lack of progressiveness

For a few magic weeks, Bernie Sanders was taken seriously as a presidential candidate with a chance to win - a huge watershed for a self-avowed socialist. But after falling short (even if slightly) in Iowa and Nevada, and with no friendly states on the horizon, Sanders is back in protest candidacy territory.

Could taking on Hillary Clinton's warlike foreign policy, which Sanders stubbornly refused to do, have changed the game?

Ta-Nehisi Coates argues that Sanders's avoidance of racial justice issues says a lot about "how the left prioritizes its various radicalisms." (It astounded me that a progressive would launch a presidential campaign in April 2015 without one reference to Black Lives Matter, the year's most animating issue on the left.) The same can be said of Sanders's refusal to seriously critique Hillary's hawkishness, or her support for Israel.

Though Sanders opposed both Iraq invasions and has a clearly dovish record (except, of course, on Israel), his campaign is a potential setback to the movement to stop America's repeated drift toward war in the Middle East. His success suggests that war and Palestine aren't vital issues to the left, and that a progressive challenge can thrive while avoiding them entirely.

Sanders's campaign removed antiwar expression from the 2016 election (aside from Donald Trump) and is letting neocons maintain the fiction that opposing militarism is politically costly. Which is how they stay in power under both parties.

Comment: Face it folks, unless Bernie takes on American imperial ambitions head-on by criticizing the US war machine, his words are essentially empty. He can't change the problems at home unless he takes on the gross amount of money spent on war. What's the difference if he's going to "take on the bankers" if he's not going to take on who the bankers work for? Everything he says is just meant to quell the unrest among the semi-enlightened masses, much the same way Obama's message in 2008 did. How did that end up for voters in 2008? People are going to have to realize that whoever is made president is going to follow orders and continue implementing the elite's plan for worldwide domination and control.

Germany heading for a showdown with Austria over 'unacceptable' migrant policy

Austria has drawn the ire of neighbor and close ally Germany over the country's handling of the migration crisis, with Vienna's decision to accept no more than 80 asylum seekers per day labeled "unacceptable" by Berlin.

Ahead of planned talks between Austria, Bulgaria and the ministers from the Balkan states on Wednesday, German Interior Minister Thomas de Maziere slammed Vienna's actions, saying the decision to accept only 80 asylum seekers per day, while allowing 3,200 more to travel through to Germany, was sending "the wrong signal."

Vienna's decision to introduce caps on the number of people passing through the country has led to fears of bottlenecks along the Balkans, while it also goes against the German-led desure to keep EU borders open, whilst securing a bloc-wide agreement on refugee resettlement.

Comment: While these idiots play political games, seeking to 'impose' decisions on one another while forever avoiding the crux of the issue, the refugees are truly suffering.

Now this woman, just in order to save her starving children from the rubbles, is forced to go to Europe, to the rapists and thieves who destroyed her life, asking for shelter and food. And they spit into her face! They say: "It is too much for us, too difficult to accommodate you and others like you! Woman, you came to take advantage of us. You came to have a better life at our expense!"

Leith Fadel, editor-in-chief of Al Masdar News, is reporting that "moderate" rebels (funded and armed by the United States and its Arab client states) are now fighting alongside ISIS in an attempt to push the Syrian army out of Southeastern Aleppo.

[T]he Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) is attacking the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in southeastern Aleppo; however, they are not alone, thanks in large part to the joint effort from the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and Jund Al-Aqsa (Syrian Al-Qaeda group).

ISIS and the Islamist rebels share control over the small village of Rasm Al-Nafal, along with 2 other points on the Khanasser-Aleppo Road that they captured in a simultaneous assault on the National Defense Forces (NDF) last night.

Both the Islamist rebels and ISIS announced that they control Rasm Al-Nafal and they have yet to attack one another; instead, they are assaulting the Syrian Armed Forces, who just sent fresh reinforcements to this front in order to recapture the points they lost along this road.

NATO's promises of security and attempts to drag Serbia into the alliance are particularly humiliating for the Balkan country at a time when two of its diplomats held hostage in Libya were killed in a pin-point US airstrike, Russia's FM spokeswoman said.

On Friday, US airstrikes against positions of an Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) affiliate group in Sabratha, Libya, killed more than 40 people including two Serbian nationals held hostage by the jihadists. The Serbian prime minister said the death of two embassy workers was "terrible collateral damage" and demanded explanations from Washington.

On Sunday, speaking on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said Washington keeps accusing Russia of bombing civilian targets, providing no evidence whatsoever, and at the same times behaves as if nothing has happened when their own strikes result in confirmed civilian deaths.

Backstabbing Erdoğan declares 'Turkey has the right to invade Syria'

Turkey has the right to carry out military operations not only in Syria, but in any other country, which is hosting terror groups that threaten the Turkish state, Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

"Turkey has every right to conduct operations in Syria and the places where terror organizations are nested with regards to the struggle against the threats that Turkey faces," Erdogan was cited as saying by the Hurriyet newspaper.

Ankara's stance has "absolutely nothing to do with the sovereignty rights of the states that can't take control of their territorial integrity," the president insisted.

"On the contrary, this has to do with the will Turkey shows to protect its sovereignty rights," he added.

Comment: If Turkey invades Syria, in violation of international law, then the only 'right' they will have is the 'right' to be treated in the same way as their terrorists proxies.

We couldn't help but chuckle when we read in today's Haaretz about Israel's "changing approach" to the Syrian war, now that Assad and his allies are routing the foreign-backed fanatics that have been terrorizing Syria for the last five years.

To quote directly from the article: "Russian intervention has tilted the scales, and Jerusalem is concerned of a regime victory, which would be victory for Iran as well. To prevent that, Israeli officials believe [the] West must intervene in favor of moderate rebels."

Thanks for volunteering the west, Israel. But the real eye-opening line comes later in this thinly-veiled appeal for more military aid to head-chopping lunatics in Syria:

But three understandings are emerging as Israel updates its positions in light of developments: First, an Assad victory would be bad for Israel because it would also mean victory for Assad's allies, Iran and Hezbollah. Second, despite the heavy Russian bombings and internal disagreements in its ranks, the Syrian opposition is far from vanquished. The third is that the West must rouse itself from its inaction and try to send real military aid to what Israeli security officials describe as a kind of third force, the less extreme Sunni rebels and the Kurdish militias, so they, too, will stand up against the regime as well as against the Islamic State.

Syrian army scores major victory after 'pulverizing' Daesh & Nusra Front in Homs

The Syrian air force secured a major victory on Sunday destroying a number of terrorist positions and gathering centers in the country's northern Homs province, Iran's Fars news agency reported.

The airstrikes came as part of an ongoing offensive by the government forces and National Defense units in the eastern part of Homs city, Iran's Fars news agency reported. In a parallel development, the government forces flushed out al-Nusra militants holed up in the northeastern part of the strategic city.

Also on Sunday, Syrian air force jets destroyed a number of Daesh positions in Homs province inflicting heavy losses on the enemy both in manpower and military hardware.

In a recent firsthand report based on his travels to Syria's Aleppo, The Spectator associate editor Peter Oborne wrote that the Syrian Army's victories in encircling the militant-controlled portions of the city are, in some ways, reminiscent of the liberation of the city of Stalingrad during the Second World War.

Oborne's piece, published by the conservative British news magazine last week and entitled "Aleppo Notebook: the city's terrorist besiegers will now be besieged," was based on the journalist's recent travels to the city, and his interactions with ordinary Syrians.

{This is a preview of my forthcoming revision of my Working Paper on the Snipers' Massacre of 20 February 2014 on the Maidan in Kiev, Ukraine. Although based much on Ottawa University Professor Ivan Katchanovski's work, it includes some other data, including the following recent disclosure, confirming once more that the 'sniper's massacre' or shooting at least on that pivotal day was not initiated by the Berkut or any other forces of the Viktor Yanukovych regime, no less of Russia. Rather, they were an internal false flag operation carried out by the neo-fascist and ultra-nationalist element - the Svoboda Party and Right Sector - of the EuroMaidan movement that turned the first peaceful Maidan protests into increasingly violent protests and a violent seizure of power.}

Around the time of the second anniversary of the February massacre, yet another pro-Maidan sniper, Ivan Bubenchik, has emerged to acknowledge that he shot Berkut before any protesters were shot that day. In a print interview Bubenchik previews his admission in Vladimir Tikhii's documentary film 'Brantsy' that he shot and killed two Berkut commanders in the early morning hours of February 20th on the Maidan. Bubenchik hails from Lviv, having learned how to shoot in the Soviet army and undergone training at a military intelligence academy for operations planned for Afghanistan and "other hot points." Claiming that he was on the Maidan from the "first day," he soon joined the MSD's "Ninth" soten tasked with guarding the subway exits onto the Maidan, so the SBU could not use them to infiltrate the square. At some point, the MVD blocked their acces to the government quarters on Hrushevskii Strret. The Ninth soten delivered a written ultimatum that if by the next day Ninth's fighters were not allowed to move freely between the Maidan and the Metro, they would attack the Internal Troops, which they did with Molotov cocktails and stones.¹
