"We would be happy to see you as an honorary guest" at the Vladivostok forum which starts on September 11, Putin told Moon during a press conference after they held talks in Moscow. The Russian leader has also invited North Korea's Kim Jong Un to the event, as well as the leaders of China and Japan. So far, only Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has confirmed his attendance.
Today Russian media reported that Kim has not yet responded to the Kremlin's invitation. "There has not been an answer yet," Putin's aide Yury Ushakov was quoted as saying by TASS news agency.
During his press conference with Moon, Putin said he "welcomed" a recent historic summit between Kim and US President Donald Trump in Singapore, when the two leaders signed a joint document calling for the denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula. "We hope this will allow tensions to be significantly reduced in the Korean peninsula and in the future create conditions for the formation of a sustainable security system in the region," he said.
During his three-day visit, Moon is also expected to watch South Korea's World Cup match against Mexico tomorrow in the city of Rostov-on-Don.
Recently, plans for a summit meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin were announced.
The report was first disclosed rather quietly late on a Friday evening three weeks ago in the Wall Street Journal, and subsequent reports indicated more and more details in terms of both the intent and the stage of planning conducted for these meetings. Hopes are rising that this meeting will lead to a normalization of relations between the US and Russia.
Over the past two weeks, the press has tried to destroy this narrative.
The Justice Department's tepid OIG report, with its risible assertion that there was no political bias in the FBI's Clinton email probe, suggests that it was written by people afraid to tell the unvarnished truth about the conduct of the federal government's police apparatus, an agency that openly defies congressional oversight and has participated in a vendetta against a sitting president. The FBI's leadership clearly hopes that the Democrats will win majorities in Congress and put a halt to the investigations into its multifarious abuses of power. The OIG is loath to face the ruthless reprisals that would inevitably follow such a disaster.
The resolution, calling for the "complete and unconditional withdrawal of foreign military forces" from Moldova was adopted by the UN General Assembly on Friday. The Moldova-sponsored document received a simple majority, with 63 countries voting for it, 15 against, and 82 abstaining.
Russia condemned the adoption of the resolution as a shortsighted move which could lead to a potential flashpoint between the unrecognized Transnistria Republic and Moldova, undermining the "fragile" reconciliation process.
So, what are the Kurds' options?
The US President clearly attaches no importance to the fate of the Kurds. He is ready to abandon them, despite knowing that they have no other place to go or protection they can seek. The Kurds lost the trust of the government in Damascus because of their unwise political and military choices - and of course they are hunted down by Turkey who considers all Kurds in Syria to be part of the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG), a terrorist-affiliated group by Ankara's standards.
Across the Atlantic, Italy's new 'populist' government has begun preventing migrant ships from docking at their ports, provoking an almighty row between Mediterranean leaders, with France's Macron chastising Rome and claiming that 'there is no migrant crisis'. But as the 'populist wave' and Trump's election win clearly indicated, all is certainly not 'fine'...
This week, Joe and Niall go Behind the Headlines on what is - arguably - the most pressing issue of our times

In March 2016 Barack Obama told CBS News he heard about Hillary Clinton's private emails through news reports.
But Obama lied.
FBI records released in September 2016 revealed Barack Obama emailed Hillary Clinton often using a pseudonym email account.
This point is barely mentioned in the IG's report last week and brushed over in a footnote to the report.
Comment:
- "How is this not classified?" FBI files show Obama knew about and used Hillary's email server with pseudonym
- New FBI docs implicate Obama in Killary email scandal - sensitive information discussed using pseudonym
- Not only Killary, entire Obama administration exposed for using private email to avoid FOIA requests
- How Obama made sure Killary would dodge indictment in email scandal
- Obama lied about knowledge of email scandal to protect Killary's White House bid
- Look whose name was scrubbed from incriminating Comey documents
This time the 72-year-old leader targeted the concept of original sin in the Bible. During a speech at the opening of the 2018 Information and Communications Technology Summit in Davao City on Friday, Duterte recalled the Bible creation story of Adam and Eve and how they ate the forbidden fruit.
"Comey said that he also was concerned about an issue specific to Lynch," Horowitz reports. "As discussed in more detail in the classified appendix to this report, Comey told the OIG that the FBI had obtained highly classified information in March 2016 that included allegations of partisan bias or attempts to impede the Midyear investigation by Lynch."
What, specifically, did the "highly classified information" indicate? It is "highly classified," so we naturally remain in the dark. What justified making the information "highly classified"? Nuclear secrets? A list of U.S. spies abroad? War plans to invade Canada? We do not know. But in an age when the Justice Department assails words that merely embarrass with redacting markers, the words "highly classified" provoke curiosity rather than close questions.
Comey's manner of dismissing the information does not inspire confidence. "When asked about this information," the report explains, "Comey stated that he knew it was not credible on its face because it was not consistent with his personal experience with Lynch."
Comment: So Comey is either a liar or an idiot.
Allegations that Loretta Lynch played favorites did not jibe with the former FBI director's experiences with the former attorney general?
Comey's "personal experience" with Lynch includes the attorney general successfully pressuring him to call his investigation of Hillary Clinton a "matter."
"The Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria received information about the upcoming Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist provocation by telephone from residents of Idlib Governorate. According to the Syrians, who spoke to the center's officers, last Friday a film crew from the news agency of one of the Middle Eastern countries came to the province. This group, together with the Jabhat al-Nusra terrorists, made fake videos about the evacuation of civilians to Alhelal al-Ahmar Hospital and the terrorists' active "restoration" of civilian infrastructure, allegedly destroyed by Russian and Syrian air strikes," the center's statement says.
As the Russian Reconciliation Center specified, the film crew used for their footage residential buildings which had been destroyed during clashes between different militant groups in the area.
According to the information received by the center, the fake films were set to be released by some Arabian and Western media outlets and then blamed on Russia. The Russian reconciliation center concluded that this would also play into the hands of Jabhat al-Nusra terrorists, helping them to receive funding from Western non-government organizations operating in Idlib.
Local residents cited by the center stated that the film crew had come to the province last Friday.
Comment: Given that the Syrians are in the opening stages of their offensive on Daraa, which will undoubtedly be successful (as have all their major offensives for the past year or so), we can probably expect another false flag from the Israel-U.S. camp and their proxy forces. It's their way of lashing out at Syria and Russia for destroying the terrorists they spent so much time and money nurturing.
- Coincidence? US resumes funding White Helmets just as Russia warns of yet another false flag chemical attack in Syria
- While the world focuses on Kim-Trump summit, an imminent false flag chemical attack is predicted in Syria

Comment: And just like that, #Russiagate has completely disappeared from the news cycle now that things are looking grim for the Dems and FBI.
