Canadian federal government issues permanent postal ban on hate speech publication

James Sears, editor of Your Ward News, has been charged with the wilful promotion of hatred against Jews and women. Today, the federal government announced it was permanently banning his publication from being distributed through Canada Post.

'Your Ward News promotes disgusting anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, misogyny, homophobia, and racism.'

A Toronto-based publication widely criticized for disseminating hate speech against minorities, Jews, women and the LGBTQ community has been permanently banned from distribution through Canada Post.

In May of 2016, the federal government issued a temporary order banning Your Ward News from using Canada Post following a number of complaints about its discriminatory content.

A board of review was struck to review the decision; it held 11 public hearings between April of last year and Feb. 2018.

There's been a lot of talk lately in Jewish circles about US Jews losing faith in Israel and the dangers that poses to Israel. Here is a statement earlier this year that no one has picked up, from Jonathan Greenblatt of the ADL, emphasizing the vital nature of that bond: American Jews are vibranium mined in Wakanda for Israel, or Bitcoin or Ethereum, a "natural resource" you don't want to "squander" or "sub-optimize."

"Vibranium" is a component in the armor of superhero Black Panther, who hailed from Wakanda, that made him impervious to many weapons. Vibranium was coined in 1966 by the late Stan Lee, who died this week.

US senators seek to stop arms sales to Saudis... after killing similar Bahrain bill

A newly proposed bill in the US Senate would suspend the sale of weapons to Saudi Arabia and block refueling of Saudi warplanes bombing Yemen, as punishment for the death of a Washington Post columnist.

A group of senators on the Foreign Relations Committee, led by Bob Menendez (D-New Jersey) and Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) introduced the "Saudi Arabia Accountability and Yemen Act of 2018." It was sponsored by three Democrats and two Republicans.

Menendez, who is the top Democrat on the committee, said that sanctions against 17 Saudi nationals introduced earlier on Thursday by the Trump administration were "not enough" to ensure a credible investigation of the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, and pressure Riyadh into ending the war in Yemen.

Comment: Meanwhile House Republicans shut down a similar debate dedicated to ending US support for the war on Yemen. Sputnik reports:

A month after US members of Congress from both parties claimed to be disturbed at the ruthless murder of Saudi writer Jamal Khashoggi, Republican leadership in the House of Representatives prohibited a debate about ending US support for the Saudi coalition.

The House voted 201-87 to shut down debate Wednesday on Rep. Ro Khanna's (D-CA) resolution on the US role in in Yemen under the War Powers Act. "In American history... never, never has the speaker of the House and the majority denied a member of Congress a vote on matters of war and peace," Khanna said Thursday in remarks to Democracy Now.

"This is basically rendering ineffectual the War Powers Act," Khanna said, referring to the law passed in 1973 that was intended to keep the president from committing the American military to an armed conflict without the consent of Congress.

'Germany can't accept being treated like an occupied country' - Former Chancellor Schroeder

Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder didn't mince his words about the incumbent US Ambassador to his country Richard Grenell, saying the US envoy's treatment of the host country was insulting.

Speaking with Reuters about Grenell, the veteran German politician said the ambassador's actions suggested that he believed Germany to be occupied by America.

We can't accept being treated like an occupied country. When I look at the behavior of the US ambassador to Germany I get the impression he sees himself as an occupying officer rather than an ambassador in a sovereign country.

Grenell, who was appointed to his current job in May, has made quite a stir in Berlin. Some MPs even called for his ouster, over his stated sympathies for European right-wing political forces and a forceful approach in promoting the interests of American businesses amid a looming trade war with the EU. This remark was absent in Reuter's English-language story about the interview at the time of writting of this article, but picked up by German language media.

Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang said Beijing is ready to further develop economic ties with Russia, increasing bilateral trade and facilitating mutual access to each other's markets.

"China is ready to boost energy, innovation, finance and trade cooperation with Russia," Li Keqiang said during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the ASEAN Summit in Singapore.

He noted that 2018 marks an important stage in high-level relations between China and Russia.

According to China's PM, the sides have a lot of opportunities for developing business cooperation.

Beijing is "interested in expanding the two countries' access to each other's markets," Keqiang added.

Comment: China and Russia are leading the way, and those countries also looking to operate in a multipolar world, bypassing the belligerent West, are following suit:

Steve Barclay, who supports leaving the EU, has been confirmed as the UK's new Brexit Secretary, as Theresa May looks to replace cabinet members who have resigned in the fallout from the UK/EU withdrawal deal.

The little-known MP for North East Cambridgeshire had been serving as a minister at the Department of Health and Social Care. He will replace Dominic Raab, who quit earlier this week over the EU withdrawal agreement.

Unlike his predecessors, Barclay's role will be limited to getting the Brexit bill through parliament and to preparing the country for the process. May will lead the negotiations personally.

Barclay joins Amber Rudd in the cabinet, the latter replacing Esther McVey as Work and Pensions Secretary. Earlier this year Rudd resigned over her mishandling of the Windrush scandal.

PM May is either 'completely useless or plotting to keep UK in EU' - UKIP

The withdrawal deal Theresa May recently presented satisfies neither Brexit supporters nor its opponents, the UKIP leader told RT. Gerard Batten says the move either proves the PM's incompetence or a plot to stay in the bloc.

The vast majority of Britain's political establishment turned against the prime minister as the draft divorce deal with the European Union was made public on Thursday. And it's unlikely that the document will proceed, as both British and EU parliaments are reluctant to greenlight it, the UK Independence Party leader believes.

Speaking to RT, Gerard Batten ridiculed the very idea that May was allowed to head the withdrawal process as she has always been a hardline remainer, who nevertheless "does not satisfy" either side. He claims she has negotiated a deal under which the UK doesn't really leave the EU.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has been charged under seal by the Trump administration. This has been revealed by a purportedly accidental copy-paste error in an unrelated court document which used Assange's name, interestingly not long after it was reported to the Wall Street Journal that federal prosecutors "have considered publicly indicting Mr. Assange to try to trigger his removal from the embassy because a detailed explanation of the evidence could give Ecuadorean authorities reason to turn Assange over."

Insider sources have reportedly confirmed to the Washington Post that Assange has been charged. Because those charges are sealed, it's impossible to know what they are or how they're being justified. If you ask #Resistance Twitter, it's because it's #MuellerTime and Assange is about to be arrested under some mysterious charges involving WikiLeaks' publication of non-government, non-classified emails in 2016. If you ask QAnon cultists, it's because Donald Trump is planning to extradite Assange so as to rescue him and deal a fatal blow to the Deep State. If you ask people who actually know what they're talking about, however, it's most likely for WikiLeaks' Afghanistan and Iraq war logs and/or last year's CIA leak publications, and most likely using the Espionage Act. This would constitute a deadly blow to press freedoms, and arguably a greater leap in the direction of Orwellian dystopia than the Patriot Act.

U.S. prosecutors are preparing to pursue a criminal case against Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, escalating a long battle targeting his anti-secrecy group even as he remains holed up in the Ecuadorean embassy in London.

Prosecutors have obtained a sealed indictment against Assange, something that emerged in a Thursday filing in an unrelated criminal case in a Virginia federal court. Because the indictment was sealed, the nature of any charges against Assange has not been made public at this point.

Thursday's filing had also been sealed, but it was made public for reasons that were unclear, according to a person familiar with the matter. Joshua Stueve, a spokesman for the U.S. attorney's office in Alexandria, Virginia, said the filing was made in error.

Russia has been scheming for decades to splinter the West with civilization-shattering fake news, claims a shocking three-part film series published by the New York Times. The series was filed under "op-ed" for a reason, however.

Russia's alleged "meddling" in the 2016 presidential election is the "culmination of Moscow's decades-long campaign to tear the West apart," according to the scary graphics-filled, spooky music-stuffed video series. The three-part report - safely labelled opinion/editorial - insists that America's internal political squabbles can be traced back to a "virus" conceived by "KGB spies"in the 1980s. Who knew that the Soviets had Twitter?

"Americans are using Russia's playbook against one another without the faintest clue," the NYT series warns. To back up their ironclad claims, the filmmakers interview a former Czechoslovak intelligence service officer, Ladislav Bittman, about all the terrible fake news that the KGB once spread - and purportedly continues to inspire. But how exactly did Bittman become privy to these juicy KGB scoops? The ex-spook never worked for the Soviet security service, and fled to the US in 1968. Just an opinion, basically.

RT's Murad Gazdiev takes a closer look at the sensational op-ed series - concluding that the evidence-free accusations might be an unfortunate case of psychological projection.
