Puppet Masters
As a guest on the popular podcast Pod Save America, Sanders was questioned about his views on Israel by co-host and former Barack Obama staffer Jon Favreau:
Favreau: You're very critical of Bibi Netanyahu and the Israeli government. We spend a few billion dollars on aid to Israel. Would you ever consider using that aid as leverage to get the Israeli government to act differently?
Sanders: Absolutely. Absolutely. I mean, we are giving large sums of money...look, let me back it up before the tweets start flowing in. (laughter) I lived in Israel. Actually I worked in a kibbutz for a number of months. I have family in Israel, I am Jewish, I am not anti-Israel. Ok, I believe that the people of Israel have absolutely the right to live in peace, independence, and security. End of discussion, that's what I believe. But I think what has happened is, in recent years under Netanyahu you have an extreme right-wing government with many racist tendencies.
The claim, estimated to be worth more than 1 billion pounds ($1.24 billion), was filed at the Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT) on Monday, U.S. law firm Scott + Scott said. JP Morgan, RBS, UBS, Barclays and Citi declined to comment.
Some of the world's biggest investment banks have already paid more than a combined $11 billion in fines to settle U.S., British and European regulatory allegations that traders rigged the currency markets. Litigators have long hoped to replicate in Britain the success of U.S. class action claims against banks, including Goldman Sachs (GS.N), HSBC (HSBA.L) and Barclays, that have resulted $2.3 billion in settlements for big investors.
In May the European Union fined five banks a combined 1.07 billion euros ($1.19 billion) for forex rigging through cartels of traders known as "Essex Express" and "Three Way Banana Split".
The lawsuit is being led by Michael O'Higgins, the former chairman of British watchdog the Pensions Regulator, and is being funded by litigation finance group Therium.
Her guest, the attorney Alan Dershowitz, offered an answer that combined legal analysis and political handicapping. "They come back in November of 2020, when we all go to the polls and we vote against people that we think lied," he said. "But it would be a terrible thing" — he held up a finger for emphasis — "to criminalize lies."
Dershowitz is a frequent guest on shows like "The View"; for decades, he has been a frequent guest just about everywhere. If you are a television producer putting together a segment about a celebrated criminal case, Dershowitz is an ideal booking. Intellectually nimble and supremely confident, he is an emeritus professor at Harvard Law School but also an occasional reader (and subject) of the tabloids. Over the years, he has written thousands of newspaper articles, magazine columns, and Web posts. With help from research assistants, he has published three dozen books — including "The Best Defense," "Chutzpah," and "Sexual McCarthyism" — that recount his cases and advance his opinions.
Comment: What a class A lunatic. And he's STILL lauded as one of America's 'leading intellectuals'!

A wreath sits on the seat of Faris al-Sersawi, 12, who was killed by Israeli forces during a Great March of Return protest, October 7, 2018.
Some 59 Palestinian children were killed last year and 2,756 more were injured — the highest number since 2014, according to a report by UN secretary-general Antonio Guterres that will be published this week, an advance copy of which was seen by Mondoweiss.
While Guterres called for a probe into the deaths and blasted Israel for endangering Palestinian youths, the UN chief did not embarrass Israel by naming it on his "list of shame" in the annexes of the survey.
Comment: Israel has been criticized and condemned within and without, and it makes no difference to their behavior. The only tactic that has ever shown any promise is the Boycott, Divest and Sanction movement. Israel is terrified of it. It worked on South Africa and it can work here. Money is the only thing despotic regimes respond to. And make no mistake, despite all the PR blathering about the 'only democracy in the Middle East', with respect to the Palestinian people, Israel is despotic.

1. The LNA Air force carried out a series of precision strikes against the Air War College in Misurata, as well as the Turkish Air Control Room in the city which is openly allied with Turkey. The Misurata airport has become a military base for Turkish Drones used to target the LNA while they fight terrorists. Turkey has a number of their military in Misurata in a war room directing the drones. The LNA Air force also targeted and destroyed the Turkish war room in Misurata. The attack on Misurata come after the forces loyal to the government of Serraj bombed the Libyan National Army base of Al Jufra, south of Tripoli. The LNA had warned the tribal leaders in Misurata that they must expel the Turks and Qatari's from their area or they would be taken out. Apparently the tribal leaders had no control over the terrorists that control Misurata. The Italians were also warned of the attack and removed their 280 troops to Tripoli so no Italians were wounded. THE BIG POINT HERE THAT EVERYONE IS IGNORING IS THAT ITALY HAS OCCUPATIONAL FORCES IN LIBYA ILLEGALLY AND THEY ARE SUPPORTING THE MISURATA TERRORISTS.
Comment: Sputnik news adds:
The Libyan National Army (LNA), led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, has begun the second stage of the offensive on the Libyan capital of Tripoli, Ali Qaidi, a member of the country's Tobruk-based parliament, said on Monday.Haftar is the choice of the Libyan tribes, who are throwing their full weight behind him.
"The [LNA] forces are advancing on Tripoli for a new day of the Operation Flood of Dignity, that is, as part of the second phase of the military operation after the army has achieved most of its goals," Qaidi said.
Earlier in July, the LNA said that it had successfully completed the first stage of the offensive on Tripoli.
Since early April, the LNA has been engaged in an offensive to gain control over Tripoli. The UN-backed Government of National Accord has been waging a counteroffensive to prevent the LNA from capturing the city.
Libya has been torn apart by conflict since the long-time leader Muammar Gaddafi was overthrown in 2011. The eastern part of the country is governed by the parliament, backed by the LNA and located in Tobruk. The Government of National Accord, headed by Prime Minister Fayez Sarraj, operates in the country's west and is headquartered in Tripoli.

House Oversight and Reform Committee Chair Elijah Cummings, D-Md., leads a meeting to call for subpoenas on Capitol Hill in Washington on April 2, 2019.
Last April House Oversight Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) released a report implicating Democrat Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) in colluding with the IRS and Lois Lerner against the nonpartisan voters rights group "True the Vote."
Catherine Engelbrecht, the founder of "True the Vote," testified before Congress in February.
She was targeted by FBI, IRS, ATF, and OSHA after she filed for tax exempt status for her voters rights group.
Engelbrecht said this during her testimony before Congress and Cummings,
"Frankly, to sit before my accuser and be silent in the face of what he did was unconscionable."
This week the House Oversight Committee released more emails that prove the IRS was feeding Rep. Cummings with confidential tax information on the voter fraud prevention group True the Vote.
Comment: Top Democrat Elijah Cummings is again making the news. President Trump advising the congressman to clean up the "worst" congressional district in the US instead of criticizing the treatment of migrants at the border.

A supporter of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro attempts to kick a car which is part of a convoy transporting opposition leader Juan Guaido on March 30, 2019
On July 25, the US Department of the Treasury announced new sanctions against people and companies allegedly linked to the importation of food.
The list published on the Treasury Department website includes 10 people, including children of the first lady, Cilia Flores.
Comment: Max Blumenthal, who has covered the attempted coup extensively, noted at the time of the attack on Guaido's motorcade
"It's ironic to see government security forces actually protecting Guaido, a figure who is calling for the government to be toppled and attempting to fragment the security services from within," Blumenthal, editor of the Grayzone Project, said.Guaido is a wussy snowflake who expected the US to hand him the presidency. An exemplary product of the U.S.' elite educational system.
"It's also ironic because we constantly hear about Venezuela as some kind of ruthless Communist dictatorship. But here you have a situation that will certainly not be tolerated in the US or other countries, like Russia, China or Germany... What kind of dictatorship is this? Well, apparently it's not a very effective one," the journalist said.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has staged another verbal attack on Israel by saying, "whoever is on the side of Israel, let everyone know that we are against them."
Speaking at a gathering of Turkey's ruling AKP Party in Ankara on Sunday, Erdogan said that the Turkish government does not "approve of silence on the state terror that Israel blatantly carries out in Palestine."
The remarks come against the backdrop of ongoing war of words between Erdogan and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, with the Turkish President referring in March to Netanyahu, who faces corruption allegations at home, as "the thief who heads Israel".
Erdogan then described Netanyahu as a "tyrant who slaughters 7-year-old Palestinian kids."
Comment: It may just be politics as usual, but it's refreshing to see. But at least Erdogan is in a position to call a spade a spade. The Anglo world is bought and paid for, and could never get away with stating the facts as bluntly as Erdogan.
US-affiliated forces in Syria have 'hijacked' the illegal oil trade from Daesh (ISIS), Col. Gen. Sergei Rudskoy, chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the Russian General Staff, announced in a Monday briefing.
According to the senior officer, in addition to their criminal enterprises, US-trained militants have been training to destroy oil and gas infrastructure and to organise attacks against Syrian government forces.
Col. Gen. Rudskoy accused the US of providing various Arab and Kurdish militias with arms in exchange for assistance in the illegal trafficking of Syrian oil to the East of the Euphrates. Specifically, Russian intelligence has accused US-controlled entities of organising the illegal production and sale of Syrian oil from the al-Omar, Conaco and Tanak oil fields on the Euphrates River's east bank.
Comment: More details:
According to the chief operating officer, some of the combatants trained in the US- controlled Syrian Al-Tanf zone are being transferred in US Air Force helicopters to the Euphrates region.
The best trained saboteurs are sent to areas controlled by the Syrian government to destabilize the situation.
"Their mission is to sabotage, destroy the oil and gas infrastructure and carry out terrorist actions against government units. The presence of such groups is noted in the As-Suwayda, Palmira and Al-Bukamal areas," said Rudskoy.
Russian intelligence has also revealed information about the secret transfer and concentration of fighters in the southwest part of Syria's ceasefire Idlib, and preparations are being made for an offensive.
"Intelligence is currently recording the covert transfer and concentration of fighters in the southwest part of the ceasefire zone. At least 500 terrorists from Tahrir al-Sham have been relocated from the northern parts of Idlib province. Preparations are being made for an offensive," said Rudskoy.
In May, after visiting Assange in Belmarsh Prison for an interview and psychological examination, Melzer concluded that the US, Britain, Sweden and Ecuador shared responsibility for the "psychological torture" of Assange.
On Sunday new details emerged of Melzer's conclusions, after the publication of letters that Melzer sent to the respective governments of those countries.
The UN Human Rights Commissioner also published two responses received from the US and Sweden which strongly rejected Melzer's claims and arguments.
Comment: RT further reports:
In the letters, made public over the weekend, Melzer appealed to the governments of the UK and Sweden not to surrender Assange to the US justice system, where the 48-year-old will likely be "tortured." At the same time, he demanded a fair trial for Assange from the US.
"Given the strongly perceptible public and official prejudice held against Mr. Assange in the United States, there are serious reasons to doubt that he would receive a fair trial before an impartial judicial body as required under human rights law," Melzer wrote."I underscore my most serious concern that, if Mr. Assange were to be extradited or otherwise surrendered to the United States... he would be exposed to a real risk of torture or other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment."The UN official also confirmed the deteriorating physical and mental health of the journalist, who showed "all symptoms typical for prolonged and sustained exposure to severe psychological stress, anxiety and related mental and emotional suffering in an environment highly conducive to major depressive and post-traumatic stress disorders (PTSD)."
Unless Assange gains access to a psychiatrist, his mental health could deteriorate further, Melzer warned, stressing that "Assange's health condition and cognitive and sensory capacity have been, and still are, significantly impaired."
