Leader of Islamic State is fictional character whose voice is played by an actor, says U.S. military

Image

Comment: Although this article appeared in 2007, it is quite apt today as the Islamic State is being touted as the next big terrorist organization that requires U.S. intervention all around the world to combat.

For more than a year, the leader of one the most notorious insurgent groups in Iraq was said to be a mysterious Iraqi named Abdullah Rashid al-Baghdadi.

As the titular head of the Islamic State in Iraq, an organization publicly backed by Al Qaeda, Baghdadi issued a steady stream of incendiary pronouncements. Despite claims by Iraqi officials that he had been killed in May, Baghdadi appeared to have persevered unscathed.

On Wednesday, a senior American military spokesman provided a new explanation for Baghdadi's ability to escape attack: He never existed.

Brigadier General Kevin Bergner, the chief American military spokesman, said the elusive Baghdadi was actually a fictional character whose audio-taped declarations were provided by an elderly actor named Abu Adullah al-Naima.

Comment: Fascinating, isn't it?

It's as if they had a plot line involving an 'Islamic State led by al-Baghdadi' waiting in the wings, but decided against using it at the time.

7 years later, an 'Islamic State led by al-Baghdadi' is justifying US intervention from Morocco to Pakistan.

Is this one equally fictional?

There are real people doing really horrible things in Muslim countries - most of them from Europe and Saudi Arabia - but the idea that they're part of some 'cohesive enemy threatening Western civilization' is clearly fictional.

Remember what former British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook said before his untimely death: 'al Qaeda' was a database of Western intelligence informants...

Croatia's gloom and doom: Criminal enterprise HDZ' takes over presidency

Image
© NEWS.CN
Kolinda Grabar Kitarović officially became Croatia’s fourth elected president after being inaugurated at a ceremony in St. Mark’s Square in Zagreb at noon on Sunday.
The inauguration ceremony for newly elected president of Croatia, who ran on HDZ - the Croatian Democratic Union's political party ticket, is scheduled for February 15. There is no reason for celebration. Croatia's brave Judge Calic issued guilty verdicts against HDZ party, former Prime Minister Sanader and four of his close allies on charges of corruption on March 11, 2014 . HDZ's appeal process may drag on until after the next parliamentary election, scheduled for the end of 2015.

According to BBC, "Prosecutors accused Sanader of "masterminding" a scheme to divert money from state-run firms and institutions during his two terms in office between 2003 to 2009, making illegal financial gains for the HDZ and himself." For Sanader, this was the second trial - he is already serving a 10-year jail sentence after being convicted for taking millions of dollars of bribes from energy company MOL and Hypo Alpe Adria Bank.

Comment: While Croatian media are currently busy speculating whether or not the new Croatian president belongs to the women's masonic lodge, Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic has first denied her involvement with the Trilateral Commission but then eventually admitted her involvement, with a caveat: "Trilateral Commission has nothing to do with freemasonry".

What we know for sure is that Ms. Grabar Kitarovic has been on NATO's payroll from 4 July 2011 - 2 October 2014 as the Assistant Secretary General of NATO for Public Diplomacy.

Putting it mildly, it seems highly inappropriate that someone with such a Curriculum Vitae would be even considered for presidential elections in any independent state. Or perhaps not - if we consider Croatia as effectively being a NATO puppet state. It seems Kolinda's true agenda is to continue the legacy of her party founder, Franjo Tudjman, who has paved the way for pillage and plunder of Croatia's natural resources while its people are barely surviving on the brink of existence.

ISIS beheads 21 Christian Copts, Egypt eyes revenge

Egypt's President Abdel el-Sisi said Cairo "reserves the right to respond in any way" to the killing of 21 Copts by Islamic State militants. The extremist group has released a graphic video showing the beheadings of the Copts that were kidnapped in Libya.

Sisi warned that Cairo would choose the "necessary means and timing to avenge the criminal killings" as he spoke on state television in the wake of the surfaced footage of the brutal executions.

The Copts - native Christians of Egypt - are shown in the video dressed in orange jumpsuits with their hands tied behind their backs, while being walked along the seaside by jihadists dressed in black. The Egyptian men are then forced to kneel before being beheaded.

Several very graphic images of the killings appeared on Twitter. RT will not run the images, believing it is unethical to publish the footage or pictures of atrocities committed by terrorists even if they cannot be immediately verified.

Comment: Would this atrocity have been committed if the U.S. hadn't led the crusade to oust Gaddafi and have him murdered in cold blood, or engage in similar endeavors in Syria? Unlikely. Speaking of the U.S., their official response has been to "explicitly blame" IS terrorists for this "wanton killing of innocents". That is rich, coming from a nation that has been an exceptional leader in that department for decades.

Greek Envoy in Moscow: Paving way for Tsipras visit, strengthening ties with Russia

kotzias

Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias.
Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias held talks with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov to confirm the new Greek cabinet's commitment to upgrading ties with Russia, while showing no stomach for EU sanctions policy.

Visiting Moscow on his way from Berlin, Kotzias rebuffed criticism that the cash-strapped nation is hobnobbing with the Kremlin and hinted that the cabinet of Premier Tsipras will not turn its back on Russia.

Comment: You can listen to the program here.

Comment: Tsipras and Syriza are on a roll. Tsipras recently stood up to UK PM Cameron's ultimatum to back down on Greece's new anti-austerity stance. Here they are in Brussels. Tsipras refused to wear a tie.

President Maduro: Venezuela has foiled coup directed 'from Washington'

Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro
Venezuela's leader Nicolas Maduro has announced that the country has defeated an alleged US-sponsored coup which was reportedly plotted by five Air Force officers.

"We have broken up and foiled a coup attempt against democracy and the stability of our country," Maduro said, adding that the coup had been directed "from Washington."

The coup plan involved an attack on the presidential palace or another top target, Maduro said.

"This was an attempt to use a group of military aviation officers to provoke a violent event," and one of the detained plotters was "an [Air Force] general called Hernandez, alias el Oso [the bear]."

"On these dates, February 12 and 13, during the commemoration events, [the plot was to] fly a 'Tucano' airplane, arm the Tucano and attack the Miraflores [Presidential] Palace, or whichever location I would have been when participating in any one of these events. And then later attack other targets which they had outlined before," Maduro said, as quoted by AP.

Comment: Despite the U.S. State Department dismissing these allegations as "ludicrous", President Maduro is well aware of who is behind the plans to stage a coup in his country, and the same old CIA dirty tactics being used. As Oliver Stone commented last year, the US has a history of attempting to destabilize Venezuela:
They have seen this movie before. In 2002, the Bush administration "provided training, institution building, and other support to individuals and organizations understood to be actively involved in the military coup" that briefly overthrew then-President Hugo Chávez, according to the State Department. After the coup failed, Washington stepped up funding to opposition groups, which has continued to this day.

Ron Paul: 'Get NATO, foreign countries out of Ukraine to end civil war'

Ron Paul

Screenshot from Ruptly video
The best thing for Ukraine is to force NATO, the US, and regional players out of the country, former US congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul said. Without foreign meddling in the civil war, Kiev will focus on the nation's economic collapse.

"Get the foreigners out of there [Ukraine], get the Europeans out, the US out, get NATO out, and get the Russians out," Paul said at the International Students for Liberty Conference in Washington on Friday. "There will be less of a civil war going on there because they will have to worry about their debt. This is an economic matter too. You have to realize that the country is totally bankrupt."

"I'm not pro-Putin, I'm not pro-Russia, but I'm pro-facts," Paul stressed when defending his stance. "Crimea is not exactly a foreign country, according to the Russians. But I'm neutral on that," the former presidential candidate stated.

Paul - a 79-year-old retired doctor who spent nearly three decades in the US Congress representing the state of Texas - reiterated his previous statements, noting that what happened in Ukraine last year was a "coup" that was planned by "NATO, EU" and western Ukrainians. "One thing for sure that we do know, is we [US] had the conversations between our State Department and our ambassador before the coup - who will we put in place. And they planned part of the coup."

Oops! Separatists report NATO troops trapped in Debaltsevo, Ukrainian military admits no Russian invasion occurred

In an interview with Ukrainian Espesso TV, Ukrainian military expert Major Aleksander Taran confirmed what General Muzenko head of the Ukrainian Armed Forces had to say on the subject.

During a briefing with General Muzenko he announced that "To date, we have only the involvement of some members of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and Russian citizens that are part of illegal armed groups involved in the fighting. We are not fighting with the regular Russian Army. We have enough forces and means in order to inflict a final defeat even with illegal armed formation present. "- he said.

Comment: No wonder they've violated the ceasefire in Debaltsevo. If these reports are true then of course old NATO wouldn't want to be caught in another bald faced lie of blaming others for exactly what they are doing. If only the shot-callers weren't utterly psychopathic then they'd likely call it quits out of shame by now.

Obama adviser John Podesta's biggest regret: Failure to break UFO secrecy

John Podesta
Outgoing senior Obama adviser John Podesta reflected on his latest White House stint Friday, listing his favorite moments and biggest regrets from the past year. Chief among them: depriving the American people of the truth about UFOs.

Podesta's longtime fascination with UFOs is well-documented, as his brief political hiatus following four years as President Bill Clinton's chief of staff freed him up to pursue his otherworldly passion.

At a 2002 press conference organized by the Coalition for Freedom of Information, Podesta spoke on the importance of disclosing government UFO investigations to the public.

"It's time to find out what the truth really is that's out there," he said. "We ought to do it, really, because it's right. We ought to do it, quite frankly, because the American people can handle the truth. And we ought to do it because it's the law."

Comment: It's good to see at least one politician speak out publicly on this issue, and do so sanely. Unfortunately, Podesta's judgment seems to go only so far. Hillary Clinton's campaign? Seriously?

More terrorism circus? Two dead, five injured in Copenhagen shootings

Danish police shot and killed a man early today who investigators believe was behind shootings at a free speech event and a synagogue in Copenhagen, killing two men and wounding five police officers, and was likely inspired by last month's terror attacks in Paris.

The suspected gunman was killed in a shootout with police in the Noerrebro district of Copenhagen, Danish investigator Joergen Skov told The Associated Press.

According to Copenhagen police, at about 5 a.m., the suspect was returning to an address that was under police surveillance. When officers tried to make contact with the suspect, he shot at them. The officers returned fire, killing him.

Skov said "nothing at this point suggests there were other perpetrators" in the Saturday shootings. Police officials said at a news conference Sunday that they knew who the suspect was but have not yet identified him, only saying he was from Copenhagen.

Comment: Saudi Arabia condemned the attacks in Copenhagen and North Carolina. According to one of the witnesses, the shooting didn't start until swat teams arrived.

Meanwhile, Bibi Netanyahu didn't waste time in inviting the European Jews to migrate to Israel. He offered a similar invitation to French Jews while nation is still mourning the loss of life in the Charlie Hebdo shootings. Despite the terrible tragedy of events like this, they always seem to be good for Israel, as Netanyahu said in reference to 9/11.

Ukraine truce being observed 'in general'

Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko talks to military staff in Kiev February 14, 2015.
A ceasefire that came into force midnight Sunday in Eastern Ukraine is holding in most places but not all, with both sides playing the blame game. But the city of Donetsk has had its first night without shelling in months.

The spokesperson of Ukraine's Joint Staff, Vladislav Seleznev, has confirmed that all shelling of Ukrainian positions has stopped at 3 AM local time.

"The military posture is fairly stable," reported Donetsk region's police chief Vyacheslav Abroskin.

According to the Donetsk militia representative Eduard Basurin, Donbass self-defense forces 'selectively' taped the enemy batteries without a second thought and in full conformity with previous statements of Donbass leadership.

French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius has confirmed that ceasefire in Ukraine is "generally respected".

"We can say that in whole the truce is observed, though some ceasefire agreement violations have been registered here and there," Fabius said.
