Turkey has committed an act of War against the Russian Federation, in its downing of a Russian Su-24 fighter jet.

A Turkish fighter jet shot down the Russian plane. Turkmen militia, under Turkish command, have killed one pilot who attempted to surrender. The pilot, being one man surrounded by hostile forces, clearly unable and not wanting to fight, followed protocols and Geneva convention-proscribed procedures, and would have attempted to surrender. Instead, he was either killed in the field, while landing, or executed by the Turkmen militia once captured. At the time of writing this, the other pilot is still MIA.


Comment: And yet this admitted warcrime was brushed off as "self-defense" by State Department Deputy Spokesperson Mark Toner:



It is highly probable that these actions taken by Turkmen militia, as a proxy force under direct command from Ankara, carried out these actions with tacit state approval. Turkmen militias have played a supportive role in supporting ISIS border crossings and ISIS oil shipments into Turkey.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Thursday that Moscow has already taken and will take diplomatic and military measures after the downing of a Russian Su-24 bomber by Turkey.

The Russian prime minister said that the downing of the Russian warplane over Syria was an "act of aggression" committed by Turkey.

"This was certainly an act of aggression against our country by Turkey, our neighbor and a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization."

"Military and diplomatic measures with regard to this crime have already been taken and more will be taken," Medvedev said during a government meeting on Thursday.

Russia deploys advanced S-400 missile defense systems to Syria

A RIA Novosti correspondent has reported that a Russian S-400 missile defense system has been deployed in Syria on Thursday.

The S-400 Triumf (NATO reporting name: SA-21 Growler) next generation surface-to-air missile system has been deployed to the Hmeymim airbase in Syria where the Russian Aerospace Forces group is stationed.

The Russian Defense Ministry announced the deployment of the S-400 systems on Wednesday, a day after Turkish fighter jets had shot down a Russian Su-24 bomber, which had been taking part in Russia's anti-terror campaign in Syria.

PM Cameron seeks to increase scope of airstrikes against ISIL.
British Prime Minister, David Cameron, has presented his Syria bombing plan to lawmakers saying Britain should join airstrikes against the ISIL terrorist group in the Arab country. "I believe that we should now take the decision to extend British airstrikes against ISIL into Syria," Cameron told MPs on Thursday. "It is wrong for the UK to sub-contract its security to other countries", he said while addressing the House of Commons.

During the speech, the premier said the threats to British interests and people are such that the country cannot afford to stand aside and not to act. He said there have been seven terrorist plots in the UK in the last 12 months. Cameron's call is in response to a recent Foreign Affairs committee report on airstrikes as well as recent deadly attacks in the French capital, Paris.

The UK is already part of a US-led anti-Daesh coalition but its air unit is restricted to target the terrorist group inside the Iraqi territories. The government argues it is illogical to restrict action to Iraq as ISIL does not recognize the border between the countries.

The Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn who is a veteran anti-war campaigner seems remaining against any action in Syria but he is under pressure to offer his MPs a free vote. On Thursday, he reiterated his opposition saying "he is reluctant to support strikes without the approval of political plan for Syria".

Comment: Cameron is sounding more scared and more desperate...could be an on-script "intended response" or, regarding Russia, the writing on the wall.

Gripping new details of the rescue of the downed Russian Su-24 pilot have been revealed. The details are straight out of the movie "Black Hawk Down," and reveal how Russian Marines saved the pilot in a breath-taking frontline op involving a fierce shootout with militants. Cpt Konstantin Murakhtin, who escaped death after his jet was attacked by a Turkish Air Force F-16, parachuted into the middle of territory held by hostile Syrian rebel fighters, making any effort to save him incredibly dangerous. His fellow pilot Lt Col Oleg Pershin was reportedly killed by Turkmen militants in the air even before landing.

Murakhtin was fortunate enough to land safely, but his position was directly in the line of crossfire from the Syrian Army and terrorists. He activated a life beacon and could do nothing but wait for help. The Marine rescue team sent to save the pilot left Russia's Khmeimim airbase minutes after the Su-24 bomber was shot down by the Turks in Syrian airspace, just one kilometer from the Turkish border.

"We moved out just 15 minutes after we got information that the Turks had downed our aircraft. The area was between Durin and Turkmen heights, where fierce shootouts have been taking place. We scrambled three [Mi-8] helicopters which headed for the probable crash site," a source close to the rescue operation told RIA Novosti.

Comment: Turkey claims that it "repeatedly" warned the Russian pilots, but the jet's navigator, who survived the crash and was rescued by Syrian forces, is adamant that they received no such warnings. The sole survivor of the downed Russian Su-24M Fencer jet says the Turkish jets did not issue any visual or radio warnings before shooting down the warplane.

"There was no warning, not by radio exchange nor visually. There was no contact at all," said Konstantin Murakhtin, the surviving pilot of the doomed jet, speaking to Russian journalists on Wednesday at the Moscow's base in Syria after being rescued by Russian special forces and Syrian troops.

The remarks made by the Russian pilot are in contrast to those of Turkish government that claimed its F-16 warplanes had issued warnings before shooting down the aircraft.

I ordered them to shoot, says Mr. Premier

Meanwhile, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that he himself had given the order to destroy the Russian jet.
"Despite all the warnings, we had had to destroy the aircraft. The Turkish Armed Forces carried out orders given by me personally," said Davutoglu, speaking to a meeting of his ruling Justice and Development Party, the Canadian ThinkPol news website reported.

War in Syria may be necessary and the Church of England must back armed force if it helps refugees, according to Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby.

Welby told the Guardian that after debating the issue in London the Church is effectively committed to backing military action in Syria.

He said "the implications are enormous" and that action is now "almost inevitable" given the seriousness of the Syrian crisis.

For having the courage to come forward and expose the drone program for the indiscriminate murder that it is, 4 vets are under attack from the government they once served.

The U.S. Government failed to deter them through threats of criminal prosecution, and clumsy attempts to intimidate their families. Now four former Air Force drone operators-turned-whistleblowers have had their credit cards and bank accounts frozen, according to human rights attorney Jesselyn Radack.

"My drone operators went public this week and now their credit cards and bank accounts are frozen," Radack lamented on her Twitter feed (the spelling of her post has been conventionalized). This was done despite the fact that none of them has been charged with a criminal offense - but this is a trivial formality in the increasingly Sovietesque American National Security State.

Michael Haas, Brandon Bryant, Cian Westmoreland and Stephen Lewis, who served as drone operators in the US Air Force, have gone public with detailed accounts of the widespread corruption and institutionalized indifference to civilian casualties that characterize the program. Some of those disclosures were made in the recent documentary Drone; additional details have been provided in an open letter from the whistleblowers to President Obama, Defense Secretary Ashton Carter, and CIA Director John Brennan.

Russia ready to consider steps to close Turkish-Syrian border with France

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has described as correct the offer of French President Francois Hollande to take steps to close the Syrian-Turkish border. He said as much while talking to reporters on Wednesday.

"Going back to the news conference of Presidents of France and the United States Francois Hollande and Barack Obama in Washington, I noticed that the French president suggested taking steps to close the Turkish-Syrian border to stop both the flow of militants and terrorist financing," the Russian minister said. "It is significant that President Obama did not respond to this in any way, but I think it's the right suggestion."

"I hope that President Hollande will brief us on the issue tomorrow (during the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin)," the Russian foreign minister said. "We would be ready to seriously consider the steps necessary for this."

"Many say that, by closing this border, we will effectively curb the terrorist threat in Syria," Lavrov added.
