So, what do we have here? In Libya, in Syria, and elsewhere the United States has been on the same side as the al-Qaeda types. But not in Ukraine. That's the good news. The bad news is that in Ukraine the United States is on the same side as the neo-Nazi types, who - taking time off from parading around with their swastika-like symbols and calling for the death of Jews, Russians and Communists - on May 2 burned down a trade-union building in Odessa, killing scores of people and sending hundreds to hospital; many of the victims were beaten or shot when they tried to flee the flames and smoke; ambulances were blocked from reaching the wounded. Try and find an American mainstream media entity that has made a serious attempt to capture the horror.

And how did this latest example of American foreign-policy exceptionalism come to be? One starting point that can be considered is what former Secretary of Defense and CIA Director Robert Gates says in his recently published memoir: "When the Soviet Union was collapsing in late 1991, [Defense Secretary Dick Cheney] wanted to see the dismemberment not only of the Soviet Union and the Russian empire but of Russia itself, so it could never again be a threat to the rest of the world." That can serve as an early marker for the new cold war while the corpse of the old one was still warm. Soon thereafter, NATO began to surround Russia with military bases, missile sites, and NATO members, while yearning for perhaps the most important part needed to complete the circle - Ukraine.

Ship set to sail against Gaza blockade rocked by explosion

Gaza's Ark - a freedom flotilla aimed at breaking the Israeli blocked from within this besieged strip - was rocked by an explosion early Tuesday, partially sinking the vessel weeks before it was to set sail from the Gaza Port.

According to a statement from Gaza's Ark, no one was injured in the blast, but the night guard "was taken to the hospital for tests."

Ehab Lotayef, member of Gaza's Ark steering committee, told Common Dreams, "We don't have solid proof of who carried out the attack, but it is very clear there is one specific entity interested in the boat not sailing and in continuing the blockade of Gaza."

This is the first physical attack against Gaza's Ark, which has been under construction for nearly a year. Jointly organized by Palestinians in Gaza - including the Palestine Sailing Federation and the Fishermen's Solidarity Campaign - and international solidarity organizations, the vessel was constructed by Palestinians and slated to embark in June on a voyage through international waters carrying Palestinian goods and people from Gaza and around the world.

Ukraine crisis: Russia condemns U.S. 'Iron Curtain' sanctions

Russia has condemned new US and EU sanctions that have been imposed over Moscow's actions in Ukraine.

Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said "Iron Curtain"-style US sanctions might harm its hi-tech sector and that the EU was "under Washington's thumb".

Russia had no intention of invading eastern Ukraine, where separatists have seized government buildings, he added.

Later, the regional governor's headquarters in the city of Luhansk, near the Russian border, was stormed.

The AFP news agency reported that a crowd of more than 3,000 people, led by about 20 youths armed with metal bars, was attempting to take over the building.

EU split: US puppet Poland demands total obedience of Germany over Ukraine

Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski demands that Germany takes a clearer stance in relation to Russia amid the events in Ukraine, as quoted in an interview published in the German paper Bild on Saturday.

According to Komorowski, it is unclear what view some in Germany take of Russia in the current situation, which makes him suspect some German politicians of seeking a way in their foreign policy that Poland could hardly accept.

The Polish president said his country wanted the German Government to be more determined in its efforts to settle the conflict in Ukraine as soon as possible, so that Europe and its neighbours can live without fear in the future. It is better to extinguish the fire now than wait until it spreads to other countries, the president believes.

Poland and the Baltic countries support tougher sanctions against Russia and stronger NATO presence in their territories because of the Ukrainian crisis. Furthermore, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has recently proposed a European energy union to reduce the EU's reliance on Russian energy resources.

We all saw the pictures coming out of Mariupol today. I won't re-post them here. Simple people trying to stop a gang of heavily armed thugs who fancy themselves as some kind of "special forces" but whose "specialty" seems to be in shooting unarmed - or very poorly armed - civilians.

It would be wrong to compare these Ukie thugs to the SS, as some have done. For all their wrongs, the Waffen-SS fought well, and not only against defenseless civilians, but also in real combat. But these Ukie "special units" still have not managed in taking over Slaviansk or Kramatorsk! Yes, there even was a Victory Day parade in Slaviansk were Pavel Gubarev, the "people-elected governor" of the Donetsk region spoke at an official rally. Same thing in Kramatorsk where a Victory Day celebration also took place.

Amazing, no? We are, by Kiev's official count, already in the second phase of the second anti-terrorist operation and the "special" forces have yet to capture a single town!

And then there is Mariupol. What happened there is almost as disgusting as the massacre in Odessa. The main difference is that at least in Odessa the junta did not use uniformed "special forces" but soccer hooligans and specially bused-in neo-Nazi thugs from Kiev. In Mariupol civilians were shot by "official" unifomed personnel. And for what purpose exactly? How many *armed* "terrorists" have been captured or killed in Mariupol?

A single sniper in Slaviansk has "succeeded" in shooting a 12 year old kid in the chest. Something the freaks in Kiev can be proud of, I suppose. The local press is now reporting that the SBU is sending more reinforcements to Slaviansk. It's pathetic, really.

Enough! Ecuador says USAID must leave by end of September

Ecuador has called for the US Agency for International Development (USAID) to leave the country by the end of September.

In a letter obtained by the Associated Press on Thursday, Ecuador's government told the USAID that it "must not execute any new activity," nor widen any existing projects in the country.

The letter, dated November 26, 2013, was signed by Gabriela Rosero of Ecuador's international cooperation agency and was sent to the US Embassy in the Ecuadorean capital of Quito.

The letter was reportedly addressed to USAID program officer, Christopher M. Cushing.

Rosero said that the USAID must pull out by September 30, and that "the decision has been made."

Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa suggested in December that the USAID's programs were no longer welcome in Ecuador, saying on one of his regular Saturday programs on television and radio that "we don't need charity."

In April, Ecuador ordered 20 US military staff working at the US Embassy in Quito to leave the country by the end of the month.

In the creation of its mass-distributed seed unit Pioneer, DuPont illegally employed technology developed by fellow agrochemical giant Monsanto, a US federal appeals court has ruled, affirming sanctions against DuPont.

The US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit let a lower court decision stand on Friday, agreeing that DuPont violated Monsanto's licensed seed technology, known as Roundup Ready, when it was developing its own seed to be tolerant of powerful, commonly-used herbicides.

Monsanto's Roundup Ready seeds are tailored to be able to withstand certain volumes of glyphosate-based herbicide, which Monsanto also makes. The companies are two of the top agribusiness titans competing for dominance through, among other products, so-called high-yield crops, most of which are genetically-modified organisms.

The appeals court agreed with a 2012 decision by the US District Court in St. Louis, finding that "DuPont had abused the judicial process and acted in bad faith," while adding that DuPont's actions were not considered "fraud on the court," Reuters reported.

Globalization is an economic movement aimed at the unification of peoples under a plutocracy. It is economic because it is driven by international trade and the constant search for new markets, raw materials and ever cheaper labor. Its arrogance has created a coherent and compelling body of writing that exposes its flaws. Russia serves as the instrument of the resistance against it, and therefore, she has been and will continue to be the target of globalist forces.

This paper argues that globalism is another word for western liberalism and "democracy." It is an inherently unjust regime of global rule that serves only the global oligarchy and insulates them from its consequences. It is presented as "inevitable" and as the result of impersonal forces. Neither claim is true, though the evils of globalization are not inconsistent with "rational" self-interest as defined by economics.

The resistance to this movement has been a bizarre coalition of mutually conflicting movements and personalities. This paper argues that, in order for globalism to be successfully challenged, a strong sense of ethnic, national or regional identity must emerge. Elements of the nationalist and Eurasianist doctrine provide some ideas on how societies can remove themselves from the destructive agenda of internationalism. In Russia's case, these are popular and, to an extent, are already developing in public policy.

Junta in Kiev is unforgiving: Ukraine builds dam cutting off Crimea water supply

Recent satellite images show that Kiev is deliberately trying to cut off Crimea peninsula's water supply by building a dam. In the meantime Russian scientists are trying to find ways to supply Crimea with fresh water.

Experts from the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources are developing ways to supply fresh water to the Crimea from the Kuban River in the Krasnodar region to the North Crimean Canal which now receives limited water-flow, as Kiev tightens the lid on Simferopol.

"As one of options of providing the peninsula with water, we are considering an option of drawing water supply from the Kuban River and channeling it through the Strait of Kerch to the end portion of North Crimean Canal," director of the department of public policy and regulation in the field of water resources ministry of Russia Dmitry Kirillov told Ria Novosti.

He added in order to do so the transfer an underground pipeline has to be built in three segments, with each stretching about 130 kilometers.

The options of laying a pipeline through the sea bed of Kerch Strait on special supports or as part of a bridge is now only in the design stage. Transferring water stock from the Kuban River via the Kerch Strait is estimated to cost up to 100 billion rubles ($ 2.8 billion).

Addressing the public on a Victory Day, the governor of Ukraine's southern Kherson region trampled on the feelings of many veterans and desecrated the memory of all those who perished during the war against Nazi Germany by calling Hitler a "liberator."

Governor of Kherson region Yuri Odarchenko was booed by thousands including WWII veterans when he told the previously cheering crowd that the Soviet Union tried to enslave Ukraine, while Hitler on the other hand tried to bring freedom to their land.

"Those [Soviet] aggressors justified their capture not only by their desire to seize others' territory and enslave the people, but they also put forward slogans about liberating nations and people that inhabit the lands which Hitler hoped to capture," Odarchenko told the crowd.
