Edward Snowden questions competence in NSA investigation into security disclosures - sez he left detectable traces

NSA whistleblower says he left detectable digital traces of his removal of documents which the agency did not pick up on

National Security Agency whistleblower Edward Snowden has called into question the competence of the investigation into the aftermath of his disclosures, which was overseen by the NSA's new deputy director, Rick Ledgett.

In a new cover story for Wired magazine, the former NSA contractor provided writer James Bamford with previously unreported allegations of NSA cyberattack tools, including a piece of software, codenamed MonsterMind, that would automate a hostile response when it detected a network intrusion. He also alleged that a 2012 incident that took Syria's internet offline was the fault of the NSA.

Snowden told Bamford, a longtime chronicler of the agency, that he left detectable digital traces of his removal of scores of documents from the technically sophisticated agency, allowing the NSA to know precisely what he did and did not take. Yet making a specific determination of the extent of the data breach has escaped the agency, which has simultaneously made vast and dire claims about the damage Snowden caused.

The head of the NSA's digital forensics investigation into the Snowden disclosures, considered the most extensive in the agency's history, was Ledgett, who has since been promoted to deputy director, its most senior civilian position.

Desperate Kiev regime now claiming pro-Russian rebels shot down Flight MH17 by mistake in attempt to shoot down Russian airliner

Image
The official MH17 narrative still prevails: the "pro-Russian rebels" shot down Malaysian airlines MH17 with a Buk missile system provided by Russia.

In a new and rather unusual twist, however, according to the Kiev regime, the Donetsk militia did not intend to shoot down Malaysian airlines MH17. What the "pro-Russian rebels" were aiming at was a Russian Aeroflot passenger plane.

The MH17 was shot down "by mistake" according to an official statement by the head of Ukraine's Secret Service, Valentyn Nalyvaichenko(Ukraine News Service, August 7, 2014)

According to SBU Chief Nalyvaichenko:
"Ukraine's law enforcement and intelligence agencies have established during the investigation into a terrorist attack on the Boeing... that on that day, July 17, and at that time military mercenaries and terrorists from the Russian Federation planned to carry out a terrorist attack against a passenger aircraft of Aeroflot en route from Moscow to Larnaca... as a pretext for the further invasion by Russia,"

"This cynical terrorist attack was planned for the day when the [Malaysia Airlines] plane happened to fly by, planned by war criminals as a pretext for the further military invasion by the Russian Federation, that is, there would be a casus belli," he added.

Thus, according Nalyvaichenko, the terrorists downed the Malaysian airliner by mistake." (Ukraine Interfax News, August 8, 2014)
Nalyvaichenko said that the Kiev government reached this conclusion "in the course of its own investigation into the downing of MH17″.

Comment: What is so ridiculous about the outright lies being spewed by Kiev is that this is the exact logic that Kiev and the U.S. used for planning and executing the deliberate destruction of Flight MH17. THEY wanted to down the plane to justify further action against Russia. Talk about projection! There was a false flag that occurred all right, but it was the Kiev/U.S. government that is the culprit.

Urgent statement re: humanitarian convoy: Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Statement of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Connection with the Attempts to Derail the Delivery of Humanitarian Aid to Those Suffering from Hostilities in the Southeastern Region of Ukraine

The attempts to create new and greater obstacles in the way of the delivery of Russian humanitarian aid to the civilian population of Donbass cause deep concern. The implementation of this mission has entered its final stage. In discussions with the representatives of the Ukrainian authorities and the International Committee of the Red Cross ("ICRC"), we were able to reconcile practically all the key parameters of the transfer to the intended recipients of food, medicine and other essentials.

At the same time, there are forces that intend not simply to deprive the population of the Southeast of Ukraine of this assistance - which is of urgent, immediate necessity - but also to perpetrate open provocations likely to further complicate the situation in the conflict zone. Whereas, if earlier the humanitarian mission was obstructed through flimsy claims of organization and procedural difficulties, we are now receiving information about direct threats of the use of force against our convoy. Reports are coming in that a saboteur group of the «Aidar» punitive battalion is planning to mine certain sections of the roads in the Lugansk region with the intention of destroying the vehicles carrying the humanitarian cargo and the attending personnel; and then to accuse the Militia of these terrorist acts.

We also draw your attention to the sharp intensification of combat operations by the Ukrainian military, which pursues the obvious objective of cutting off the route - agreed-upon with Kiev - of the humanitarian column from the Russian-Ukrainian border to Lugansk.

Comment: Things are serious when the Russians openly acknowledge and warn of a false flag attack. As usual, the Ukrainians are acting like Israelis, right down to blocking humanitarian aid. Kiev doesn't seem to realize that, no matter what the outcome, the Russians will come out smelling like roses; Kiev smelling like something else entirely. If the convoy gets to the people successfully, this will show the world that Russia actually cares, and is DOing something to help the situation. If the convoy doesn't make it there, Russia will have tried its best, and Kiev will look like the inhuman butchers they are - depriving people in need of very real supplies and aid.

New York candidate for governor arrested for filming police

Despite the Supreme Court having ruled that videotaping police is legal and protected by the 1st Amendment, citizens all across the country continue to be arrested, charged, and abused by police for doing so.

Generally speaking, those videotaping and subsequently subjected to police harassment or brutality are activists or otherwise concerned and "average" citizens. However, the police state grows bolder and bolder every day in its attempt to crush dissent and instill the concept that challenging the power of the state will not be allowed, regardless of social standing.

Such is the case with the recent arrest of Randy Credico, a Democratic primary candidate in the New York State Governor's race who is challenging corrupt New York Governor Cuomo.

Credico was arrested on August 13, 2014 while on his way to a campaign interview.

Credico, while waiting at the Dyckman Street subway stop in New York City, witnessed two plain clothes men aggressively stopping and harassing a man in the tunnel. At first unaware of the fact that the two men were police, Credico whipped out his cellphone camera and began filming. When the two men, who were actually plainclothes transit police, discovered that they were being filmed, they arrested Credico.

Comment: Led by example, the NYPD has placed itself above the law. Our psychopathic leaders have defined reality for them, and the rest of law enforcement in the U.S.

Militarized Police State: Police in the U.S. have acquired vast amounts of surplus military weapons via Department of Defense program

The militarisation of police departments across America has escalated exponentially in the years since 9/11

If Ferguson, Missouri, looks like a war zone, that may be because its police force is armed to the teeth with military equipment. In photographs from this week's protests, officers can be seen toting assault rifles, wearing gas masks and body armour loaded with extra ammunition magazines, and riding around in mine-resistant armoured personnel carriers.

The militarisation of US police departments has escalated exponentially in the years since 9/11, with many local forces increasingly resembling US troops fighting overseas.

And with the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan wound down, much of the military's surplus equipment has been handed to domestic law enforcement agencies.

According to a recent report by the New York Times, since 2006 US police departments have collectively acquired 93,763 machine guns; 432 mine-resistant trucks; more than 500 aircraft; thousands of pieces of camouflage and night vision gear; and hundreds of thousands of ammunition magazines, all supplied via a Department of Defence programme.

The U.S. economy's bubble of false prosperity may be about to burst - 14 reasons

Image
© Wealthydebates.com
Did you know that a major event just happened in the financial markets that we have not seen since the financial crisis of 2008? If you rely on the mainstream media for your news, you probably didn't even hear about it. Just prior to the last stock market crash, a massive amount of money was pulled out of junk bonds. Now it is happening again. In fact, as you will read about below, the market for high yield bonds just experienced "a 6-sigma event". But this is not the only indication that the U.S. economy could be on the verge of very hard times. Retail sales are extremely disappointing, mortgage applications are at a 14 year low and growing geopolitical storms around the world have investors spooked. For a long time now, we have been enjoying a period of relative economic stability even though our underlying economic fundamentals continue to get even worse. Unfortunately, there are now a bunch of signs that this period of relative stability is about to end. The following are 14 reasons why the U.S. economy's bubble of false prosperity may be about to burst...

#1 The U.S. junk bond market just experienced "a 6-sigma event" earlier this month. In other words, it is an event that is only supposed to have a chance of 1 in 500 million of happening. Billions of dollars are being pulled out of junk bonds right now, and that has some analysts wondering if a financial crash is right around the corner.

#2 The last time that we saw a junk bond rout of this magnitude was back during the financial crash of 2008. In fact, as the Telegraph recently explained, bonds usually crash before stocks do...
"The credit market usually leads the equity market during turning points, as happened when credit markets cracked first in 2008."
Will the same thing happen this time around?

More Western Propaganda: UK Guardian reports it sighted Russian armored personnel carriers crossing Ukraine border

Newspaper the Guardian said Friday its reporter saw several armored personnel carriers, or APCs, cross the border with Ukraine.

The newspaper said the move was unlikely to represent a full-scale official Russian invasion, but it was clear evidence that Russian troops are active inside Ukraine's borders.

Dozens of heavy Russian military vehicles massed on Friday near the border with Ukraine, where a huge Russian convoy with humanitarian aid came to a halt as Moscow and Kiev struggled to agree on border crossing procedures.

Another reporter working for Reuters said he saw two dozen APCs moving near the border with Ukraine on Thursday night.

Russia says it is carrying 2,000 tons of water, baby food and other aid for people in east Ukraine, where pro-Moscow separatists are fighting government forces.

Putin: 'Ukraine in bloody chaos'

Vladimir Putin
© ITAR-TASS/Mikhail Metzel
President Vladimir Putin described on Thursday the current situation in Ukraine as "bloody chaos", pledging that Moscow will make every effort to stop the conflict.

"The country has fallen in bloody chaos, fratricidal conflict," Putin said at a meeting with Russian lawmakers in the Black Sea resort city of Yalta. He said that the situation is deteriorating. "A major humanitarian catastrophe has broken out in the southeast [of Ukraine]," Putin said.

Russian sanctions

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russian sanctions are not just retaliatory measures, but a means to support domestic producers and open up the domestic market to new partners.

"They are not just retaliatory steps. In the first place they are measures to support the domestic producers and to open up our markets to the countries and producers who are eager to cooperate with Russia and prepared for such cooperation," the head of state said at a meeting with State Duma members in the seaside Crimean resort of Yalta on Thursday.

Western propaganda heats up as Russian aid convoy is painted as military operation with no evidence to back up claim

Image
Ukrainian forces patrol near Vuhlehirsk
The BBC's Steve Rosenberg, who was given access to some of the Russian aid trucks, says many of them are "almost empty"

Around a dozen Russian light tanks have been seen heading for the Ukrainian border, as a Russian aid convoy remains parked near the frontier.

Comment: Of course tanks are heading to where the convoy is stationed. They have no defense, so Russia needs to send some kind of help for their people who are stranded because Ukraine is too paranoid to let the people of Eastern Ukraine get the help they desperately need.

The BBC saw the tanks early on Friday morning, but there was no confirmation that they were going to Ukraine. Two other reporters say they have seen Russian army vehicles entering Ukraine.

The convoy is still awaiting permission to take its cargo to cities held by pro-Russian rebels in eastern Ukraine which have been wracked by violence.
