German expert: Kiev events is coup organized by open Nazis who follow Bandera tradition

Thousands of pro-Russian demonstrators across eastern Ukraine and Crimea are protesting against the new government. Helga Zepp LaRouche is a German journalist and politician, founder of the Schiller Institute said in an interview with the VoR that the current Ukrainian authority is a result of the Nationalist intervention, and has no legitimacy.

Ms. Larouche, how can you comment on the situation in Ukraine at the current time?

I think it is extremely important that the truth about the events be made internationally known because there is such an absolute discrepancy between what is happening or what has been happening and how the mainstream Western media have been portraying events.

I think that the press conference by President Yanukovych from yesterday, where he stated that he still is the legitimate president of Ukraine, is absolutely true because there was no impeachment procedure and what happened in Kiev was a coup by people who are predominantly openly Nazis. They are obviously back to the tradition of Stepan Bandera, who was a Nazi collaborator in the 1940 helping the invasion of the Nazis. And these are people who openly use the slogans, logos which are very clearly Nazi.

War Whore: Kerry wants more war and money for elite: slams "new isolationism"

Budget cuts will reduce global clout, warns secretary of state, and hints that US would consider military strike on Iran

US secretary of state John Kerry decried what he called a "new isolationism" in the United States on Wednesday and suggested that the country was beginning to behave like a poor nation.

Speaking to reporters, Kerry inveighed against what he sees as a tendency within the United States to retreat from the world even as he defended the Obama administration's diplomatic efforts from Syria to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

"There's a new isolationism," Kerry said during a nearly one-hour discussion with a small group of reporters.

"We are beginning to behave like a poor nation," he added, saying some Americans do not perceive the connection between US engagement abroad and the US economy, their own jobs and wider US interests.

He also said that the US had an obligation to pursue nuclear negotiations with Iran before it considered going to war with Tehran to force it to give up its nuclear activities - a strong hint that the Obama administration would seriously consider a strike on Iran if the diplomatic talks fail.

Russian senators approve unanimously Putin's request to use stabilizing military forces on Ukrainian territory

Russia's Federation Council has unanimously approved President Vladimir Putin's request to use Russian military forces in Ukraine. The move is aimed to settle the turmoil in the split country.

The upper house of the Russian parliament has voted in favor of sending troops to the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, which would ensure peace and order in the region "until the socio-political situation in the country is stabilized."

The debate in the Federation Council has revealed that Russian MPs are united on the issue, with many of them sharing concerns on the recent events in Ukraine. The common notion was that since the power was seized in Kiev, the situation has only been deteriorating with radical nationalists rapidly coming to power and threatening the lives of those opposing their actions, most notably the Russian citizens living in Ukraine.

Taking the decision to use the Armed Forces in Ukraine does not mean that it will be carried out immediately, Grigory Karasin, Putin's official representative in the Federation Council, has said.

"The approval, which the President [Vladimir Putin] will receive, does not literally mean that this right will be used promptly," Karasin said.

Putin requests senators' approval to send troops to Crimea

Russian President Vladimir Putin has asked the country's senators to approve using Russian military forces in Ukraine to settle the situation there. Russian MPs have said that the turmoil in Crimea could allow for such a move.

Earlier on Saturday, the Chairman of the Federation Council, Valentina Matvienko, said that the current circumstances in Ukraine make such a move possible:
"It's possible in this situation, complying with a request by the Crimean government, even to bring a limited contingent of our troops to ensure the safety of the Black Sea Fleet and the Russian citizens living on Crimean territory. The decision is for the president, the chief military commander, to make, of course. But today, taking the situation into account, even that variant can't be excluded. We need to protect the people," Matvienko said.

"In connection with the extraordinary situation in Ukraine, the threat to the lives of citizens of the Russian Federation, our compatriots, and the personnel of the armed forces of the Russian Federation on Ukrainian territory (in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea)... I submit a proposal on using the armed forces of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine until the normalization of the socio-political situation in the that country."
The Russian government has so far been careful in its assessment of the new self-proclaimed Ukrainian government in Kiev. Matvienko said the reason for that was Russia counting on its Western partners, who vowed to guarantee the February 21 agreements between ousted Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich and the opposition.

U.S. and Thailand: A conflicted alliance

While President George W Bush heaped praise on Thailand, which he recognized as the United States' oldest ally in Asia, a diplomatic debacle played out behind the scenes.

Bush's farewell address to Asia was made symbolically in Thailand to highlight the 175-year anniversary of US-Thai diplomatic ties while also touting his administration's many self-professed diplomatic successes in the region, including the widespread promotion of liberty, law and democracy.

Left unaddressed were tensions in US-Thai bilateral ties, which have risen sharply in the wake of the September 2006 military coup that ousted democratically elected prime minister Thaksin

Shinawatra and sparked accusations among the fallen premier's supporters that Washington has taken sides with the military and its political allies in the country's ongoing political conflict.

The Flea to the Bear: Obama warns Russia of 'costs' in Ukraine

Image

President Barack Obama is warning Russia "there will be costs" for any military maneuvers it launches in Ukraine, a move U.S. and Ukrainian officials say they believe to be already underway.

Officials say Obama may retaliate by canceling a trip to Russia this summer for an international summit and could also cut off trade discussions with Moscow. But it's unclear whether those moves will have any impact on Russia's calculus in Ukraine, which is at the center of what many see as a tug of war between East and West.

"Any violation of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity would be deeply destabilizing," Obama declared Friday in a statement from the White House. Such action by Russia would represent a "profound interference" in matters that must be decided by the Ukrainian people, he said.

Separately, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said that while he would not address specific U.S. options, "this could be a very dangerous situation if this continues in a provocative way." Asked about options in a CBS News interview, he said that "we're trying to deal with a diplomatic focus, that's the appropriate, responsible approach."

Best of the Web: Anti-Semitism comes full circle: Israeli Defence Forces unit led fascist militia in Kiev - How much involvement did Israel have in neo-Nazi coup d'état?

Image

Delta, a Ukrainian-born former IDF soldier, headed a force of 40 men and women, most of whom are not Jewish, against gov't forces

He calls his troops "the Blue Helmets of Maidan," but brown is the color of the headgear worn by Delta - the nom de guerre of the commander of a Jewish-led militia force that participated in the Ukrainian revolution. Under his helmet, he also wears a kippah.

Delta, a Ukraine-born former soldier in the Israel Defense Forces, spoke to JTA Thursday on condition of anonymity. He explained how he came to use combat skills he acquired in the Shu'alei Shimshon reconnaissance battalion of the Givati infantry brigade to rise through the ranks of Kiev's street fighters. He has headed a force of 40 men and women - including several fellow IDF veterans - in violent clashes with government forces.

Comment: Just how deeply is Israel involved in this coup d'état?

Given the veneration for Nazi collaborators and tendency towards historical revisionism among participants in the Ukrainian putsch, are these what the Jewish elites, when castigating dissenters among their ranks, would call "self-hating Jews"?!

Hardly. And especially not with the Israeli ambassador's involvement in this.

Remember, the Second World War produced the deaths of 65 million people, but in the version of events they've worked so hard to cement, that war was first and foremost a project to eliminate the Jews!

Assuming then that that was the case, what on earth is going on here? We saw one of the leading French Jews, Bernard Henri-Levy, lend his considerable support towards making this situation come about. And now it turns out that the IDF were instrumental in leading these neo-Nazi revolutionaries??

If such things can't shake ordinary Jews from the death grip of their psychopathic elites, we don't know what can. "Remember the holocaust!" they cry at the slightest hint of criticism. Yes, we are remembering it. Have YOU suddenly forgotten??

Whatever game the Zionists, NeoCons and Imperialists in New York, Washington, London, Tel Aviv and Paris are playing in Ukraine - or think they're playing, with either planned or unexpected consequences - this is, at the very least, more evidence of the way in which certain types of character-disturbed people - found among all creeds, races and classes - naturally identify and align with the destructive principle under the guise of "making the world a better place".

Indeed, a "better world" for their subjugation of humanity under fascist, totalitarian control.

MEPs call U.S. drone strikes unlawful: European Parliament votes to ban them

Europe's politicians have voted by a landslide to propose a ban on US drone strikes that have killed thousands in Yemen and Pakistan, calling the killings "unlawful".

The European Parliament voted by a majority of 534 to 49 MEPs to support a resolution demanding that EU Member States "do not perpetrate unlawful targeted killings or facilitate such killings by other states", and calling on them to "oppose and ban practices of extra judicial targeted killings."

Green MEP and chair of the Parliament's sub-committee on human rights Barbara Lochbihler said: "The European Parliament has today raised serious concerns with the use of military drones and the deaths of thousands of civilians resulting from drone strikes.

Propaganda Alert! Crimean checkmate is payback by Putin for Ukraine's revolution

crimea parliament
© David Mdzinarishvili/ReutersRussian flags outside the Crimean parliament building in Simferopol.
Days after the end of Vladimir Putin's Sochi Olympics, the borders of Europe are shifting. Or, more accurately, military forces suspected of acting on Moscow's orders are creating a new cartographic reality on the ground.

Overnight, alleged undercover Russian special forces seized control of Simferopol airport, in the administrative capital of Crimea. The move comes less than 24 hours after a similar squad of shadowy, well-armed, Russian-speaking gunmen seized Simferopol's parliament building and administrative complex. If anyone was in doubt what this meant, the gunmen left a clue. They raised a Russian flag above the parliament building.

Comment: This last sentence is a most unenlightened piece of nonsense, considering that the US/Nato/EU are, and have been, engaged in landgrabs all over the world for centuries, with the Ukraine only the latest in a long line of victims. Russia meanwhile, is vilified by puppet journalists and media mouthpieces for any slight move made in self defense. We are seeing the most desperate western propaganda attempts since the Cold War.

The global parasites: 26 top American corporations paid no federal income tax from '08 to '12

Twenty-six of the most powerful American corporations - such as Boeing, General Electric, and Verizon - paid no federal income tax from 2008 to 2012, according to a new report detailing how Fortune 500 companies exploit tax breaks and loopholes.

The report, conducted by public advocacy group Citizens for Tax Justice (CTJ), focuses on the 288 companies in the Fortune 500 that registered consistent profit every year from 2008 to 2012. Those 288 profitable corporations paid an "effective federal income tax rate of just 19.4 percent over the five-year period - far less than the statutory 35 percent tax rate," CTJ states.

Comment: For more in-depth information on the enormous scandal of corporate tax avoidance (which still probably only scratches the surface), check out the book: Treasure Islands, by Nicholas Shaxson.
