Puppet Masters
According to the Washington Post, top-secret documents provided by the national security whistleblower revealed that a DNA sample was taken from bin Laden's body around eight hours after he was killed inside his Abbottabad, Pakistan compound.
The sample, the Post reported, "provided a conclusive match" between the DNA taken from the corpse and other bin Laden intelligence.
When the Associated Press filed a Freedom of Information Act request after the May 2, 2011 killing, the Pentagon responded that it had no such testing documents in its possession. Post reporters Craig Whitlock and Barton Gellman wrote Thursday that information about the test was included within the secretive "black budget" document leaked by Mr. Snowden and published in part by the paper this week.

Journalist and author Anabel Hernández, photographed for the Observer in Parque Mexico, Mexico City.
During January 2011, Anabel Hernández's extended family held a party at a favourite cafe in the north of Mexico City. The gathering was to celebrate the birthday of Anabel's niece. As one of the country's leading journalists who rarely allows herself time off, she was especially happy because "the entire family was there. There are so many of us that it's extremely difficult to get everybody together in one place. It hardly ever happens."
Anabel Hernández had to leave early, as so often, "to finish an article", and it was after she left that gunmen burst in. "Pointing rifles at my family, walking round the room - and taking wallets from people. But this was no robbery; no one tried to use any of the credit cards - it was pure intimidation, aimed at my family, and at me." It was more than a year before the authorities began looking for the assailants. And during that time the threats had continued: one afternoon last June, Hernández opened her front door to find decapitated animals in a box on the doorstep.
Hernández's offence was to write a book about the drug cartels that have wrought carnage across Mexico, taking some 80,000 lives, leaving a further 20,000 unaccounted for - and forging a new form of 21st-century warfare. But there have been other books about this bloodletting; what made Los Señores del Narco different was its relentless narrative linking the syndicate that has driven much of the violence - the Sinaloa cartel, the biggest criminal organisation in the world - to the leadership of the Mexican state.

Militants from Turkmenistan or China were among those at the seminary but the nationality of those killed was not immediately known.
Two missiles launched by a suspected US drone killed at least three foreign militants in an abandoned seminary near Pakistan's border with Afghanistan on Saturday, Pakistani intelligence officials said.
Two militants were also wounded in the strike in Mussaki village in North Waziristan, the officials said, adding that militants from Turkmenistan or China were among those at the seminary but the nationality of those killed was not immediately known.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief reporters.
What however is absolutely mindblowing is the following:
"We have identified one hundred videos attributed to the attack, many of which show large numbers of bodies exhibiting physical signs consistent with, but not unique to, nerve agent exposure. The reported symptoms of victims included unconsciousness, foaming from the nose and mouth, constricted pupils, rapid heartbeat, and difficulty breathing. Several of the videos show what appear to be numerous fatalities with no visible injuries, which is consistent with death from chemical weapons, and inconsistent with death from small-arms, high-explosive munitions or blister agents. At least 12 locations are portrayed in the publicly available videos, and a sampling of those videos confirmed that some were shot at the general times and locations described in the footage. We assess the Syrian opposition does not have the capability to fabricate all of the videos, physical symptoms verified by medical personnel and NGOs, and other information associated with this chemical attack."In other words, America may be about to launch World War III on the basis of one hundred videos, which it believes "the Syrian opposition does not have the capability to fabricate."
God help us all.
The British were no strangers to the use of chemical weapons. During the third battle of Gaza in 1917, General Edmund Allenby had fired 10,000 cans of asphyxiating gas at enemy positions, to limited effect. But in the final months of the first world war, scientists at the governmental laboratories at Porton in Wiltshire developed a far more devastating weapon: the top secret "M Device", an exploding shell containing a highly toxic gas called diphenylaminechloroarsine. The man in charge of developing it, Major General Charles Foulkes, called it "the most effective chemical weapon ever devised".
If the US directly attacks Syria, the real cause will not be the recent chemical attacks. What are 300 or so dead in a 2-year old war fuelled by the western powers that has so far killed over 100,000?
Chemical weapons are horrible. So are bullets, shells, bombs, cluster bombs, fuel-air explosive, white phosphorus, and napalm. All wars are crime writ large.
We don't yet know if the recent chemical massacre in Damascus was a real chemical attack using Sarin nerve gas, a rebel provocation, an industrial accident, or an attack by rogue Syrian army units? After Iraq, we can't trust western intelligence and so-called evidence.
This is not even the main issue at hand though it makes an excellent pretext for outside powers to intervene.
Comment: Once again, the U.S. is the "pot calling the kettle black", built upon from a long ugly historical list of their own, as "Congressional" sanctioned deeds:
Public Law 95-79 [P.L. 95-79]
Title 50, Chapter 32, Section 1520
"Chemical And Biological Warfare Program"
"The use of human subjects will be allowed for the testing of chemical and biological agents by the U.S. Department of Defense, accounting to Congressional committees with respect to the experiments and studies."
"The Secretary of Defense [may] conduct tests and experiments involving the use of chemical and biological [warfare] agents on civilian populations [within the United States]."

Indeed, being forthrightly dishonest to the American people concerning the rationales for engaging in foreign wars has become a century-old White House tradition.
The historical record of past presidents' prewar and wartime hucksterism is unambiguous, greatly contributing to the immense bloodshed and destruction that continues under the country's reckless international leadership to this day.
Nogales, Arizona -The feds' are exercising eminent domain along the Mexico border-- buying up property- but paying very little for it. Landowners in Santa Cruz county are livid.
"A man's home is his castle," said Tony Sedgwick, the co-owner and manager of Carmencita Ranch. "We've owned that since the 1950's."
But now Sedgwick is losing a chunk of it.
"They have taken the choicest part of my land," he said.
It's a valuable, not to mention scenic spot atop a high hill. And he's losing it because of a BP surveillance tower there. It keeps a close eye on activity along the fence. It's a mobile tower, but now that the Department of Homeland Security has taken the land, permanent towers may soon prop up. It's all part of an effort to tighten up security along the U.S.-Mexico border.
"If your neighbor had lights shining on your property, you would call police," Sedgwick said. "Who do I call? They are the police."

Officials check for signs of radiation on children from the evacuation area near the Fukushima nuclear plant in 2011.
Tokyo Electric Power Co (TEPCO) said on Saturday that the highly radioactive water was dripping from a pipe used to connect two coolant tanks. The pipe was repaired using absorption material and plastic tape.
Reports say radiation readings in water are high enough to kill an exposed person in four hours.
On Friday, TEPCO also said that it found new deadly radiation hotspots at four sites around the tanks.
The Federal Bureau of Investigations has sent out a classified bulletin warning about potential fallout from the Syrian conflict to all law enforcement agencies, and hundreds of Syrians may face interviews with agents in the coming days, according to unnamed senior officials who spoke to the New York Times.
All sources connected with any Syrians, have been told to look out for plans or even "talk" of a retaliatory strike on US targets, whether inside its borders, or abroad. Those under investigation will presumably include US citizens of Syrian origin.
"The field offices know what they have in terms of sources and investigations, but this is a directive for them to redouble their efforts and check their traps," one highly-placed official told NYT.
