Dr. Fauci was among highest-paid federal officials in 2019 — He banked more than President Trump's $400,000

Fauci
Dr. Anthony Fauci was among the highest-paid federal officials in 2019 — the last year for which data is available — even surpassing the $400,000 salary earned by former President Donald Trump, according to a Monday Forbes report.

Fauci serves as the director of the National Institute for Health's (NIH) National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and as chief medical adviser to the president. His salary of $417,608 placed him solidly among the top earners out of some 4 million federal employees, and making Fauci the highest-paid doctor on the government's payroll, according to data reported by Forbes.

Comment: Its galling that this technocratic monster is actually being paid with taxpayer money that is, in effect, aiding him in destroying the lives of many millions of individuals through his lies and obfuscations; this income being in addition to the money he's made owning the patents of his underlings' work, and God knows whatever other kickbacks he's pocketing from Big Pharma.

Not to mention the suppression of non-patented medication that could help countless numbers of people...

WHO advisor says COVID-19 likely started as leak from laboratory

One year after the pandemic started, World Health Organization advisor Jamie Metzl wants China to come clean about the origins of the COVID-19 virus.

The Kansas City-born, New York-based Metzl, who served as Deputy Staff Director of the Foreign Relations Committee under then Senator Joe Biden (2001-2003) and before that on the National Security Council (1997-99) and the State Department (1999-01) under President Bill Clinton), theorizes it was most likely an accidental lab leak in Wuhan.

"There's no irrefutable evidence," said Metzl, who was appointed to the WHO's expert advisory committee on human genome editing in 2019 and is also the author of Hacking Darwin.

Wrong target: UN chief urges global alliance to counter rise of neo-Nazis

Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urged coordinated global action on Monday to build an alliance against the growth and spread of neo-Nazism and white supremacy and the resurgence of xenophobia, anti-Semitism, and hate speech sparked partly by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Comment: Critical Race Theory nonsense. There is no growth and spread of white supremacy. They just changed the definition of the word so that everyone who disagrees with the new racism is automatically a "white supremacist." Notice the "partly sparked by Covid" bit. What a convenient virus it is turning out to be.

The U.N. chief also urged international action "to fight propaganda and disinformation." And he called for stepped up education on Nazi actions during World War II, stressing that almost two-thirds of young Americans do not know that 6 million Jews were killed during the Holocaust.

Comment: First point: what they say is propaganda and disinformation. Their own propaganda and disinformation is okay, though. Second point: great. Give equal time to the Gulag and Mao's Great Famine and Cultural Revolution.

Guterres spoke at the annual Park East Synagogue and United Nations International Holocaust Remembrance Service marking Wednesday's 76th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp, held virtually this year because of COVID-19.

He said the pandemic "has exacerbated longstanding injustices and divisions."

"Propaganda linking Jews with the pandemic, for example, by accusing them of creating the virus as part of a bid for global domination, would be ridiculous, if it were not so dangerous," he said. "This is just the latest manifestation of an anti-Semitic trope that dates back to at least the 14th century, when Jews were accused of spreading the bubonic plague."

Comment: We see a lot at SOTT. One thing we haven't seen is this looney conspiracy theory. We've seen a LOT of mainstream Covid nonsense, however, and countless other straight-up lies shoved down the public's throats.

More Biden libtard pandering: Lifts Trump transgender military ban

Biden executive order

Biden signing one of his blizzard of executive orders.
President Biden on Monday repealed former President Trump's ban on most transgender people serving in the military, the latest action Biden is taking to quickly unravel his predecessor's policies.

The president signed an executive order that "sets the policy that all Americans who are qualified to serve in the Armed Forces of the United States should be able to serve," according to a fact sheet released ahead of newly minted Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin's meeting with the president at the White House.

"What I'm doing is enabling all qualified Americans to serve their country in uniform and essentially restoring the situation ... where transgender personnel, if qualified in every other way, can serve their government in the United States military," Biden said before he signed the order.

Comment: In other news, Reuters is reporting that Biden will impose a South Africa travel ban due to covid:
President Joe Biden will impose a ban on most non-U.S. citizens entering the country who have recently been in South Africa starting Saturday in a bid to contain the spread of a new variant of COVID-19, a senior U.S. public health official told Reuters.

Biden on Monday is also reimposing an entry ban on nearly all non-U.S. travelers who have been in Brazil, the United Kingdom, Ireland and 26 countries in Europe that allow travel across open borders.

"We are adding South Africa to the restricted list because of the concerning variant present that has already spread beyond South Africa," said Dr. Anne Schuchat, the CDC's principal deputy director, in an interview Sunday.
So is Biden racist too?

Why not? Trump establishes 'Office of the Former President' in Florida

Palm Beach, Florida residents welcome former President Donald Trump home.
Former President Donald Trump has formally established an official post-presidency "Office of the Former President" in Palm Beach County, Florida.

"The Office of the Former President" will be responsible for managing Trump's "correspondence, public statements, appearances, and official activities," according to a statement released on Monday.

The office will also seek to "advance the interests of the United States and to carry on the agenda of the Trump Administration through advocacy, organizing, and public activism."

Comment: The Washington Examiner adds:
Former President Donald Trump gave nothing away about his plans for life after the White House as he dined with friends at his golf club on Friday.

"We'll do something, but not just yet," he told the Washington Examiner as he sat at his regular table in the Grill Room of the Trump International Golf Club. An aide to the former chief executive then swooped in and swiftly, but politely, ended the interaction.

Those marked his first words to a journalist since he left the White House on Wednesday and flew to Florida.

Allies have said Trump is eyeing supporting primary challenges against Republicans who he feels wronged him following his election defeat, such as Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) and House Republican Conference Chairwoman Liz Cheney (Wyo.), who was one of 10 Republicans to vote to impeach Trump earlier this month.

The president is readying an impeachment defense team for next month's Senate trial, though he has not commented on it publicly.

"Plague" of corruption in UK tax haven British Virgin Islands, outgoing governor declares

With a judicial inquiry looming and the EU looking to blacklist the territory, the BVI is debating where its future lies
The shuffling of diplomats around the UK's Caribbean territories rarely makes much of a splash. But Gus Jaspert ensured his last days as governor of the British Virgin Islands would be remembered.

In an emotional Facebook video post to the BVI's 30,000 inhabitants, he accused the country's government of overseeing a "plague" of corruption, interfering in the criminal justice system and attempting to silence anyone who raised concerns about the misuse of funds, including £30m to help the islands' fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Jaspert claimed that the BVI government had deliberately delayed legal reforms and hindered local inquiries into a string of corruption allegations including £5m spent on a non-existent airline and nearly £1m on building a short wall around a school. Tens of millions more spent on a hospital and a cruise ship dock are in question. Citing concerns about organised crime, he mentioned $250m (£180m) of cocaine seized from the home of a police officer last year.

Comment: That these tax havens exist and have been used to cover and support ongoing nefarious activity in the UK in particular, and elsewhere in the West, is not news, so one wonders just what else is behind these recent maneuvers:

Ice Age Farmer Report: Experts Sound Alarm: We Must Protect Our Food Supply

The US continues to shovel grains out the door even as Argentina, Ukraine, and Russia impose export limits. Experts are now warming that they are concerned (on a scale of 1-10...12) and that we MUST stop China from buying out all of our food, or our livestock -- and ultimately we! -- will suffer the consequences.

Senator Hawley: It's time to stand up against the muzzling of America

J Hawley

Senator Josh Hawley R-Mo.
Have you checked your social credit score lately? You might want to. Mine seems to have taken a nosedive this month. You might want to see how yours is doing.

Everyone knows what a credit score is. But social credit scores are new. They're the latest corporate import from Communist China, where government and big business monitor every citizen's social views and statements.

And they're the latest form of cancel culture in this country, as corporate monopolies and the left team up to shut down speech they don't like and force their political agenda on America.

For those who still believe in free speech and the First Amendment, this is the time to take a stand.

Comment: A victim of self-appointed congressional ethics police, Hawley is filing a counter-complaint:
Senator Hawley sent a letter on Monday to Sens. James Lankford (R-OK) and Chris Coons (D-DE) arguing that the seven senators who submitted an ethics complaint against Hawley and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) last week issued a "frivolous complaint to accomplish impermissible partisan purposes."
"These Senators have engaged in improper conduct that may reflect upon the Senate. The Committee should discipline these Members to ensure that the Senate's ethics process is not weaponized for rank partisan purposes."
Hawley's pushback comes as he faces fierce criticism for his actions on Jan. 6 — including calls for him to resign or be expelled from the Senate — after he and Cruz led the challenges against Pennsylvania's and Arizona's election results, respectively.

Democratic Senators. Sheldon Whitehouse (R.I.), Ron Wyden (OR), Tina Smith (MN), Richard Blumenthal (CT), Mazie Hirono (HI), Tim Kaine (VA) and Sherrod Brown (OH) last week sent a complaint to the Ethics Committee asking that it investigate Hawley and Cruz and "offer recommendations for strong disciplinary action, including up to expulsion or censure, if warranted by the facts uncovered."

Hawley has denounced the violence after rioters breached the Capitol, resulting in the death of five people, but he has stood by his decision to try to challenge President Biden's win in Pennsylvania. Hawley made his objection after the joint session resumed after being suspended for hours because rioters stormed the building.

Hawley on Monday appeared to reference calls for him to resign, writing in a separate letter to the Democratic senators that had "considered whether I should call for you to resign or be expelled from the Senate."
"The First Amendment does not ... give you carte blanche to abuse the Senate ethics process. I have today filed a complaint with the ethics committee that details your deliberate and partisan abuse of this process, including your apparent coordination with various dark money groups, and requests that you be appropriately disciplined."

After a string of censorship scandals, Twitter launches 'Birdwatch' initiative to combat 'misinformation'

'Birdwatch' - A deflection layer of Big Tech control
After a tumultuous fall during which Twitter brazenly censored American news outlets, pundits, and Trump supporters, the social media platform announced a new plan to manage disinformation and misinformation on the site. They're calling it Birdwatch.

"Introducing Birdwatch, a community-based approach to misinformation," Keith Coleman, Vice President, Product, writes on Twitter's blog. Coleman writes that
"Birdwatch allows people to identify information in Tweets they believe is misleading and write notes that provide informative context. We believe this approach has the potential to respond quickly when misleading information spreads, adding context that people trust and find valuable. Eventually we aim to make notes visible directly on Tweets for the global Twitter audience, when there is consensus from a broad and diverse set of contributors."
Twitter's announcement via video shows how a false claim, in this case the claim that "whales are not real" but "robots funded by the government," can go viral in minutes and can change the narrative about, in this case, whales. Then they say that "You can't trust everything you see online," and that this is why they're "introducing Birdwatch."

Comment: Encouraging the Twitterati to police each other is one of the key markers in establishing a totalitarian society - with potentially global significance in that tweets have the capacity to reach millions.

'Lawyer up, and get out': FBI first spurned Hunter Biden laptop, says Delaware tech repairman

John Paul Mac Isaac
John Paul Mac Isaac, the Delaware computer shop owner who unwittingly came into possession of Hunter Biden's laptop, says an FBI agent initially gave a stern warning to his family when first offered a copy of the explosive evidence about Joe Biden's son: "You better lawyer up and get out of my office."

In a wide-ranging interview Monday with Just the News, Isaac described what concerned him most about the contents on the laptop, his extensive efforts to get authorities in law enforcement and Congress to pay attention to it and his anger at the news media, Democrats and even security officials who initially accused him of carrying out a Russian disinformation campaign or trying to make money off the discovery.

U.S. intelligence has determined the laptop contents — now in the hands of the FBI and Congress and part of a criminal tax case — were not Russian disinformation. Isaac said he never took a dime for providing the materials to the FBI, Congress and Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani, not even when offered reimbursement for the hard drive equipment he used to make copies. Isaac told the John Solomon Reports podcast:
"Well, for somebody who's not very political, I assume what happened to me was the quintessential political hit job, to have that many people come out, without even talking to me, or having a conversation without doing a single background check.

"I still feel a little bit upset about that. I have people that I've known for a long time, they're convinced that I'm a tool, or I've been a pawn or I got huge payout. And it's completely decimated my business. I had to leave town."
