Puppet Masters

Residents of Kramatorsk (Donetsk Republic) trying to stop a Ukrainian pro-junta National Guard armoured vehicle, May 2, 2014.
The Khatyn massacre in Odessa has created a new reality, in which Ukrainian citizens, whose only goal is to defend their language, way of life, and values, stand in opposition to the neo-Nazi junta in their own capital of Kiev. Unlike the Donbass, where there is an armed militia, the protests in Odessa were entirely peaceful. But the Rubicon was crossed in Odessa on May 2. The taboo against the killing of peaceful civilians by armed militants no longer exists. It is no coincidence that a few hours after the tragedy in Odessa, the National Guard began ruthlessly shooting the residents of Kramatorsk who were attempting to block armored vehicles by standing in their path. It's possible that many of them did not even know what had happened in Odessa where their fellow Ukrainian citizens had been set ablaze right in front of the indifferent police forces while the neo-Nazis shouted, "Burn, Russians!" and "Death to the damn Russians!" and that those who escaped the fire were finished off with axes and clubs, all to the tune of the Ukrainian national anthem - a song that will now always be associated with the Khatyn in Odessa.

Russia will not permit last Friday's events to be "swept under the rug", the foreign minister continued. In his view, all witness accounts point to how the scale of the tragedy has been greatly under-reported.
Lavrov went on to say that the upcoming Victory Day is a good occasion for Russians not only to remember their past, but to not forget that the country has a "duty not to allow fascism to spread throughout Europe and the world at large".
The Russian FM spoke about how, for some time now, Europe has been very selective in its judgment of such ideologies, sometimes simply "ignoring" telltale signs, some of which have included all-out marches commemorating the fighters of the SS.
After violent clashes between radical pro-Kiev activists and people wearing St. George ribbons commonly used by Ukrainian anti-government protesters, the radicals raided a nearby protester tent camp.
The camp was then allegedly torched and people residing there sought protection from their opponents in the local House of Trade Unions.
The radicals pelted the building with Molotov cocktails, starting a massive fire.
Speaking at a news conference in Nikolayev, Timoshenko put it quite straight: if the country elects other candidate, there will be no avoiding a "third round of revolution."
"I do not want to bear responsibility for the failure of the revolution any longer," she said. "But if the country elects other president, and, as a matter of fact, I have only one rival now, I think we will have to venture the third round of revolution. Because otherwise I don't see any chance for changes. I simply know all these people."
She also told about her bill that she claimed would help solve the problem of corruption but admitted that "many representatives of the oligarchic authorities," including her chief rival at the presidential elections - Petr Poroshenko, "are not interested in it."
According to latest public opinion polls, Poroshenko is supported by 33.3% of respondents, while Timoshenko may count on the voices of ten percent of the polled.
Early presidential elections in Ukraine are scheduled for May 25.
One of the primary themes discussed on this site over the past several years is the growing realization that there is a two-tier injustice system operating in these United States. This fact is more disruptive to the smooth and healthy functioning of a society than anything else. It is more disruptive than financial theft, it is more disruptive that feudalistic levels of wealth inequality, and it is more disruptive than Big Brother illegal spying.
Nothing will tear the fabric of a culture apart more decisively than the appearance and recognition of a "justice" system which carves out immunity for the rich and powerful, yet comes down like a ton of bricks on even the slightest of crimes committed by the average peasants.
I have highlighted some examples over the past month or so. See below:
The "War on Street Artists" - Puppeteer Unlawfully Arrested and Harassed in NYC Subway
Charleston Man Receives $525 Federal Fine for Failing to Pay for a $0.89 Refill
The Homeless in NYC Are Now Living in Tiny Spaces in the Frame of the Manhattan Bridge
Additionally, The Guardian published an excellent piece just yesterday on the verdict of Cecily McMillan, an Occupy Wall Street protester who faces an incredible seven years in jail for elbowing a cop who has a history of violent tendencies.
Moving along, we now discover that at the same time the tax collecting agency known as the IRS (with its 89,500 employees) was pestering tea party groups, it failed to audit a single large partnership. Yep, that's right, the financial oligarchs are not just "Too Big To Jail," they are also "Too Big To Audit."
Peace activists must urgently act to illuminate the travesty of justice that is taking place. We spoke together to support negotiations with Iran. We must raise our voices now.
Ukraine's democratically elected president has been violently and forcibly removed with the financial and political support of the United States and European Union. The State Department did not just hand out cookies to a few protesters. It did not just select the replacement government. The U.S. spent $5 billion to instill Koch brothers democracy in Ukraine. The House has approved an additional $1 billion. What else? There are now two governments in Ukraine and the U.S./EU supported one is filled with neo-Nazis.
Deadly fighting broke out in the eastern Ukrainian city of Slavyansk, held by pro-Russian protesters. Ukrainian armored personnel carriers reportedly assaulted several checkpoints set up by pro-Russian forces, though protesters continued to hold the city. Five protesters were reported killed amid contradictory reports. Several Ukrainian armored vehicles were reportedly set afire in the fighting, and protesters rebuilt the checkpoints later in the day.
Thirty thugs armed with baseball bats from the fascist Right Sector militia, which led the February 22 putsch that installed the current regime in Kiev, stormed buildings held by protesters in the nearby port city of Mariupol.

MEMORANDUM FOR: The President
FROM: Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS)
SUBJECT: Urgent Action on Ukraine
The buck stops with you, Mr. President. If you want to stop a bloody civil war between east and west Ukraine and avert Russian military intervention in eastern Ukraine, you may be able to do so before the violence hurtles completely out of control. You need to take the initiative and do it now.
We recommend that you publicly disavow any wish to incorporate Ukraine into NATO and that you make it clear to Moscow that you are prepared to meet personally with Russian President Vladimir Putin without delay to discuss ways to defuse the crisis and recognize the legitimate interests of the various parties.
Comment: While it's unlikely to have any real effect on Obama, it's good to know there are some in the U.S. intel community with a shred of common sense.

ANTON WORONCZUK, TRNN PRODUCER: Welcome to The Real News Network. I'm Anton Woronczuk in Baltimore.
In recent weeks, as armed protesters took over government buildings in the eastern regions of Ukraine, we were repeatedly told by U.S. officials that Russia has been behind all this. But there has been little offered behind their repeated assertions.
Our next guest says the recent evidence trying to prove that Russian soldiers were among the armed protesters is bogus and is part of a propaganda stampede by media outlets who are concerned with promoting an anti-Russian bias.
Damascus will receive nine aircraft until the end of this year, and in the next two years - 12 and 15 respectively, according to the informant.
"Thus, we will fulfill obligations under a previously signed contract for the supply of 36 Yak-130 jets," the newspaper quoted the source.
Last June, Kommersant wrote that Syria had transferred some $100 million of advance payment to Russia for the first six Yak-130 jets under a contract signed in December 2011. At that moment all Yak-130s were ready, waiting only for a political decision to install engines and avionics, and then to be sent to Syria, according to the RIA Novosti source back in the days.
