Ukraine says it destroyed Russian vehicles that entered territory

Liar Poroshenko and his buddy Cameron
Ukraine's president Petro Poroshenko has told David Cameron that a column of Russian armoured vehicles that entered Ukrainian territory late on Thursday night had been destroyed by Ukrainian forces.

In a phone call to Cameron on Friday, Poroshenko appeared to confirm a report by the Guardian and other journalists that Russian armoured personnel carriers had crossed the border. He suggested that Ukrainian troops who have been fighting pro-Russian separatists in the east of Ukraine swiftly knocked out the Russian column.

A statement from Poroshenko's office said: "The president informed [Cameron] that the information was trustworthy because the majority of those machines [Russian military vehicles] had been eliminated by the Ukrainian artillery at night."

Comment: There really isn't a lie too big for these psychopaths to spew to the world. The idea that Russia would have sent a military detachment into Ukraine and simply allowed it to be destroyed is laughable and can only have come from the pathetic, pusillanimous mind of the US' puppet dictator in Ukraine.

The madness is intensifying: Aid convoy to Ukraine faces disruption, may be attacked - Russia

Trucks from a Russian humanitarian convoy arrive to park on a field outside the town of Kamensk-Shakhtinsky in the Rostov region, some 30kms from the Russian-Ukrainian border, Russia, on August 14, 2014.
Moscow has information that the convoy delivering humanitarian aid to eastern Ukraine may be attacked by Kiev's forces, with the "punitive" Aidar Battalion planning to mine the road that the vehicles will use, the Russian Foreign Ministry says.

Russia sent a convoy of 280 trucks carrying humanitarian aid - such as medical supplies, food, including baby food, sleeping bags and other basic necessities - to conflict-torn southeastern Ukraine on Tuesday. The convoy is currently stuck near the Ukrainian border, and is awaiting final approval from Kiev before moving forward.

On Friday, Moscow accused Ukraine of attempting to disrupt the humanitarian aid convoy now that the preparations for its delivery have reached their final stages and all key issues have been agreed upon.

Putin vows to end bloodshed in eastern Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin
Russian President Vladimir Putin has promised to do everything to stop the ongoing violence in eastern parts of neighboring Ukraine.

Speaking in Crimea on Thursday, the Russian president described the violence in eastern Ukraine as fratricide.
"The country has sunk into bloody chaos in a fratricidal conflict," Putin said, adding, "We will do our best to end this conflict as soon as possible so that the bloodletting in Ukraine ends."
The Russian president also lashed out at Western governments for pressuring Russia over Ukraine. Putin said Moscow will withdraw its participation in such organizations as the European Court of Human Rights, should the West threaten Russia's national interests.

President Putin also said he has signed off on establishing a Russian military task force in Crimea.

EU denies bullying Russia's trade partners over food ban

The EU is not working to thwart Russian trade with Latin America and elsewhere in the world, EU spokesman Peter Stano tells RT.

Russia is seeking out new suppliers to fill the substantial gap left after it banned food imports from the EU, US, Australia, Canada, and Norway. However, the EU is reportedly trying to interfere and persuade other countries not to gain from the EU's misfortune.

The Financial Times reported the EU is allegedly working to try and convince Brazil, Chile, and other Latin American countries not to meet Russia's demand for agricultural products.

Brandon Martinez: ISIL/ISIS is being aided and abetted by Israel

Image

Brandon Martinez, a Canadian journalist and freelance writer, believes that the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL or ISIS) is the co-product of the Israeli regime and the United States who are supporting it financially and militarily.
According to Brandon Martinez, ISIL is pursuing a Zionist agenda that was set out in 1980s by a fanatic Israeli strategist Oded Yinon who had envisaged the balkanization of the Middle East nations that are not supportive of Israel's expansionistic, imperial agenda.

"Recently we saw Israel bomb several Syrian military sites to aid the ISIL insurgency in the south of the country, which illustrates quite clearly that ISIL is being aided and abetted by Tel Aviv as part of a broader Zionist destabilization plot in Syria," said Brandon Martinez in an interview with Fars News Agency.

"Israel's ultimate agenda, as outlined in the [Oded] Yinon document and other Israeli geopolitical manifestos, is to have Muslims and Arabs fighting and squabbling amongst themselves so that nobody can challenge its hegemony and also so that it can get away with the ongoing ethnic cleansing of Palestine with little protest from the outside world," he added.

As said by Mr. Martinez, it's in the best interests of Israel to ignite infighting and dispute among the Muslims and Arab nations, while in effect the different Muslim denominations, including the Shiites and Sunnis, are not at odds and always lived in peaceful coexistence as long as the foreign powers don't pit them against each other.

'Buy firewood & coal': MP warns Ukrainians after US, EU get access to national gas pipes

Image
The decision by the Ukrainian parliament to allow companies from the US and EU to co-manage the country's gas pipelines could lead to the country being left with no gas supplies in the coming winter, an MP has warned in an emotional online address.

Nikolay Rudkovsky, an independent MP in Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada, believes the law allowing 49 percent of Ukraine's national gas transportation system (GTS) to be managed by foreign companies is a big mistake.

"People, my advice to you is: buy firewood and coal! After the Law on reforming the management system of the united gas transportation system of Ukraine (#4116) was passed today, our country has been left with almost no chances of staying with gas," Rudkovsky said on Facebook, following the Rada session.

"Don't the MPs understand that we are now guaranteed to have a winter with no heating?" he asked.

Comment: With an ice age on the way, this is not the best time for Ukraine to leave itself without any heating for the winter. First the Kiev junta antagonize Russia by refusing to pay their gas bill, then they give 49% control of their pipelines to the US government that is obviously going to act in its own anti-Russian interest rather than the interest of the people of Ukraine. In short, the people of Ukraine and their feckless (un) elected government appear unable to stop shooting themselves in the foot.

Video: Donetsk residents record white phosphorus shelling

Citizens of Donetsk have recorded multiple videos of white glowing particles raining on residential quarters. The locals allege that Ukraine's military has shelled their city with internationally prohibited phosphorus incendiaries.

On Thursday night, people in the Lenin district of the city of Donetsk saw a flow of white fire pouring down from the dark sky alongside the now-familiar sound of bombing, RIA Novosti reported.

They suspect these have been incendiary shells stuffed with white phosphorous, similar to those reportedly used by the military during the blockade of another eastern city of Slavyansk in June.

So far there have been no official reports from the scene about the results of the night shelling of Donetsk, which could confirm whether white phosphorous munitions have really been used against densely-populated areas.

Palestine can sue Israel at ICC: Lawyer

Image

Gilles Devers, French lawyer and International Rights specialist
A French lawyer says there are still legal channels to prosecute Israel for its war crimes in Gaza at the International Criminal Court (ICC) after Palestine's initial case was rejected last week, Press TV reports.

Gilles Devers had filed a case at the ICC on behalf of Palestine in late July following Israel's attacks on Gaza, but the case has been rejected.
"The Foreign Minister of Palestine Mr. [Riyad] al-Maliki went to The Hague and then I learned that the case was rejected. The court's prosecutor said she decided to reject the case, because Palestine has not signed the Rome Statute and therefore cannot file a case," Devers said in an exclusive interview with Press TV.
The Rome Statute, adopted on July 17, 1998, established the ICC and entered into force on July 1, 2002.
"The court's prosecutor said that the 2009 Declaration of Competency was no longer valid, because between then and now Palestine has become a non-member observer state at the United Nations," Devers said, adding, "Several professors of law have said this has no connection with the case filed by the Palestinians in July. The ICC is independent after all. Therefore, we are going to launch a fresh procedure, asking the prosecutor to work with the Palestinian minister of justice."

Iraqi Kurdish forces take position near Taza Khormato as they fight jihadist militants from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) positioned five kilometers away in Bashir, 20 kms south of Kirkuk
For days now, since their dramatic June 10 taking of Mosul, Western mainstream media have been filled with horror stories of the military conquests in Iraq of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, with the curious acronym ISIS.

ISIS, as in the ancient Egyptian cult of the goddess of fertility and magic. The media picture being presented adds up less and less.

Details leaking out suggest that ISIS and the major military 'surge' in Iraq - and less so in neighboring Syria - is being shaped and controlled out of Langley, Virginia, and other CIA and Pentagon outposts as the next stage in spreading chaos in the world's second-largest oil state, Iraq, as well as weakening the recent Syrian stabilization efforts.

Jim Rickards
In his latest Gold Videocast, Peter Schiff meets with Jim Rickards, author of The Death of Money, for an exclusive interview about gold's role in the international currency wars.

Jim Rickards is Chief Global Strategist at the West Shore Funds, and Director of The James Rickards Project, an inquiry into the complex dynamics of geopolitics + global capital. In The Death of Money, Rickards shows why another monetary system collapse is rapidly approaching - and why this time, nothing less than the institution of money itself is at risk. Fortunately, it's not too late to prepare for the coming death of money. Rickards explains the power of converting unreliable money into real wealth, such as gold and other long-term stores of value.
