Top US general blames Afghan gov't collapse on 'psychological effect' of Trump-Taliban peace deal, despite Biden never implementing it

Trump-Taliban deal had 'psychological' effect on Afghan government says top US general
The collapse of the Afghan government and its security forces can be traced to a 2020 agreement between the Taliban and the Trump administration that promised a complete US troop withdrawal, senior Pentagon officials have told Congress.

Gen Frank McKenzie, the head of central command, told the House armed services committee that once the US troop presence was pushed below 2,500 as part of President Joe Biden's decision in April to complete a total withdrawal by September, the unraveling of the US-backed Afghan government accelerated.

"The signing of the Doha agreement had a really pernicious effect on the government of Afghanistan and on its military, psychological more than anything else, but we set a date - certain for when we were going to leave and when they could expect all assistance to end," McKenzie said.

Comment: The General is blaming a peace deal that never took effect and despite experts predicting years ago that the US-puppet government would not hold? As America's attempt to Westernise Afghanistan by force fails, Kabul may now find its place in Russian & Chinese-dominated Eurasia

Biden Build Back Better Bill: $700,000 fines for companies that don't mandate vaccines included in $3.5trillion 'reconciliation' package

The Biden administration has included a vaccine enforcement mechanism in the $3.5 trillion, 2,465-page 'Build Back Better Bill' which will enable the government to enforce fines on employers whose employees do not get the vaccine.

The mechanism, buried on page 168 of the Democrats' 'reconciliation' spending bill, will allow a tenfold increase in fines for businesses with 100 or more employees that 'wilfully and repeatedly,' violate a section of labor law that deals with workplace hazards, of which Covid-19 is now a part.

The increased fines on employers could go as high as $70,000 for serious infractions, and $700,000 for wilful or repeated violations - a sum which can be applied to each instance of a violation rather than a total limit.

If enacted into law, the fines could rapidly bankrupt companies whose employees are not vaccinated, in effect forcing businesses to comply with Biden's inoculation drive.

It comes after the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) published an emergency Covid-19 rule in the Federal Register this summer, which added Covid-19 to a list of possible workplace hazards for healthcare employment.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi has not yet announced when the House will vote on the reconciliation bill that includes the new vaccine enforcement mechanism.

Russian authorities have arrested and detained Ilya Sachkov, the co-founder and chief executive of Group-IB — one of the biggest cybersecurity companies in the country — on charges of treason.

Details about Sachkov's detention remain unclear but it was reported by Russian media as authorities searched the company's offices, reports Reuters. State news agency Tass said Sachkov, who was arrested on Tuesday, was charged with allegedly transferring classified information to an unnamed foreign government, claims that Sachkov denied, according to the report.

Group-IB confirmed the arrest of its CEO, but a spokesperson for Group-IB did not comment beyond a statement on the company's website, which said the company is examining the Moscow court's decision and that it is "confident" in Sachkov's innocence.

Reprehensible egotist: Fauci says he will never reach a point where he resigns over Covid-19 controversies

Dr. Anthony Fauci testifies before the House Select Subcommittee on Capitol Hill
White House health adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci has made it clear he has zero intention of resigning from his position despite a controversial standing with the public, dismissing critics as conspiracy theorists.

Appearing on Hugh Hewitt's radio program, Fauci was asked if he could ever see himself resigning if he caused "more harm than good."

"No, absolutely, unequivocally, no," Fauci replied.

The infectious disease expert then went after Hewitt and other critics on a variety of "controversies" related to his own medical advice, as well as that of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

"We have been dealing with an evolving situation," Fauci said at one point, echoing a defense he's presented for himself in the past. He added that examples of his advice changing - such as being against masks early in the pandemic - can be chalked up to changing data influencing his perspective.

Comment: It's more than a little satisfying to know that this narcissistic little gnome is helping undo his own propaganda by leading more people to distrust the US government. Thank heavens for small mercies like the pathological self-absorption of a worm-tongued troll.

WikiLeaks Editor-in-Chief Kristinn Hrafnsson said former CIA Director Mike Pompeo has "confirmed" a bombshell report about alleged agency plans to "kidnap or kill" Julian Assange by calling for the prosecution of its sources.

During an appearance on journalist Megyn Kelly's podcast aired on Wednesday, Pompeo was asked to respond to the explosive Yahoo News story - which was based on inputs from some 30 former US intelligence and national security officials with knowledge of the agency's efforts against WikiLeaks. Pompeo said:
"I can't say much about this other than whoever those 30 people who allegedly spoke to one of these reporters; they should all be prosecuted for speaking about classified activity inside the CIA."
He noted that the report published on Sunday made for "pretty good fiction."

However, he confirmed that "pieces of [the report] are true," such as the existence of a CIA campaign to target WikiLeaks after the organization had published highly sensitive documents from the agency's so-called 'Vault 7' that offered a glimpse into some of its hacking tools and methods.

Comment: Did Pompeo just hang the CIA by its own noose?

Florida sues Biden administration to end catch-and-release policies

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis
Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) on Tuesday announced that the state of Florida is suing the Biden administration over its "unlawful and destructive" catch-and-release policies. Speaking at a press conference, DeSantis also said he will sign an executive order to prohibit state agencies from "aiding and abetting" the federal government in settling illegal immigrants in Florida.

The governor criticized President Joe Biden for reversing many of his predecessor's immigration policies, notably former President Donald Trump's remain-in-Mexico policy for asylum-seekers and the reimplementation of catch-and-release. He told reporters:
"The reversal and weakening of our policies have amounted to an open invitation for folks all across the world to just simply come through the southern border illegally and basically get a ticket to ride to the interior of the country."
The governor observed that the number of immigration law enforcement encounters at the south west border has risen from 78,000 in January to over 210,000 in July, an increase of 171%.
"That's the highest monthly total in more than 20 years and there's no sign of it slowing down. You have another 208,000 in August and that was, again, close to another record. It's very clear that open borders is the Biden administration policy."

Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody filed the lawsuit
against the Biden administration Tuesday in the Pensacola Division of the Northern District of Florida, Fox News first reported. Florida is suing the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and its sub-agencies including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), as well as DHS Secretary Alejandro Maorkas and officials in charge of ICE, Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

Comment: Imagine if all similarly impacted states were to follow Florida's lead!

Nicolas Sarkozy given jail sentence for illegal campaign financing

Former French president Nicolas Sarkozy
The former French president Nicolas Sarkozy has been sentenced to a second jail term after being found guilty of illegal campaign financing for the vast, showman-style political rallies of his failed 2012 re-election campaign.

The 66-year-old, who remains an influential figure on the French right, received a one-year sentence that the judge said could be served under house arrest by wearing an electronic ankle bracelet.

Sarkozy is now in the extraordinary and unprecedented situation of having two custodial sentences. At the same time, he has maintained his high public profile, publishing a book on culture this month and regularly being interviewed on TV for his views on April's presidential race, with candidates on the right vying for his endorsement.

In March, Sarkozy became France's first postwar president to be handed a custodial sentence when he was given a three-year jail term, two years of which were suspended, for corruption and influence peddling over attempts to secure favours from a judge.

Chaplains ordered to interrogate Guardsmen seeking COVID vaccine exemption; threats to NBA players and Canadian doctors

Coast Guard Chaplain addressing the enlisted
Religious, athletic and medical professionals in North America are facing increasing pressure to not only get vaccinated against COVID-19, but also censor their concerns to keep getting paid.

The U.S. Coast Guard developed an accusatory script for chaplains to use when quizzing service members on their requests for religious exemptions from vaccines.

For example, the script directs chaplains to challenge service members with "visible tattoos" if they cite 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, which tells Christians to keep their bodies pure as "temples of the Holy Spirit."

Chaplains must grill service members who object to vaccines developed with aborted fetal cells on whether they also abstain from "Tylenol, Pepto Bismol, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Benadryl, or Claritin, all of which were developed using fetal cells. ... to note responses in memo."

Another document includes a list of quotes by religious leaders in several faiths promoting COVID vaccination. The First Liberty Institute told Just the News it obtained them from a service member who said they were distributed to chaplains by judge advocate generals.

YouTube is out of order banning channels like RT in Germany, as it's got a legal pass in exchange for promising free speech

Tech giant YouTube has permanently erased RT's German channels, but it should remember that it's not deemed a publisher. The price for this 'get out of jail' card is allowing all voices to be heard - even those it disagrees with.

It must be a wonderful feeling to sit among the tech giant royalty high above the little people in Mountain View, California, making arbitrary, far-reaching decisions to punish anyone who doesn't see the world the way you do. We're all mere playthings at their mercy.

Flick a switch here, click a button there, and you can punish any of the two billion active monthly users of YouTube, letting them know that you are not amused. Oh, the power, the power, the POWER!

The thing is, as Vivek Ramaswamy pointed out in his excellent book Woke Inc, published just a few months back, the giant tech corporations like Google, which owns YouTube, and like Facebook or Twitter, who take it upon themselves to deny people freedom of expression, are breaking that business covenant that lets them stream and host on their platforms in the first place.

Federal judge temporarily blocks South Carolina's ban on school mask mandates

South Carolina school mask mandate
A federal judge on Tuesday temporarily blocked South Carolina's statewide ban on school mask mandates, arguing that the provision discriminates against students with disabilities.

Judge Mary Geiger Lewis for the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina granted a motion for a preliminary injunction against the one-year law that had been written into the state's budget and put school districts at risk of losing funding should they require students and staff to wear masks.

The ACLU of South Carolina had filed a lawsuit against the provision on behalf of two disability advocacy organizations and a group of South Carolina parents of children with disabilities, such as asthma and autism.

The judge sided with the plaintiffs Tuesday, writing in her memorandum opinion,
"No one can reasonably argue that it is an undue burden to wear a mask to accommodate a child with disabilities."
She compared the mask mandate to schools being required to add ramps:
"to accommodate those with mobility-related disabilities so they could access a free public education."

"Today, a mask mandate works as a sort of ramp to allow children with disabilities access to their schools. Thus, the same legal authority requiring schools to have ramps requires that school districts have the option to compel people to wear masks at school."

"This is not a close call. The General Assembly's COVID measures disallowing school districts from mandating masks ... discriminates against children with disabilities."

Comment: The ramp comparison is ludicrous. All students are not 'required to use it' due to a disabled student's special need.
