Puppet Masters
The US media reported shock and outrage at the committee's findings, but what did we actually learn from their report? And is the truth about what went on - and is still going on - far worse than we're being told?

The Scotts 'Miracle-Gro' Company which created genetically modified RoundUp-Ready Kentucky Bluegrass has announced that it will conduct field trials at the homes of Scotts' employees. What's more, they can do so without any government oversight because there are no laws that prohibit or limit the planting of GMO grass.
We already know that RoundUp ready crops have been linked (retracted, but read more on that here) via independent peer reviewed studies to inflammatory, genotoxic, neurotoxic, carcinogenic, and endocrine disrupting diseases, as well as infertility. RoundUp also chelates important minerals from the body, robbing you of your good health.
Now, cattle will graze upon GMO Kentucky Bluegrass and people will ingest the RoundUp chemicals sprayed on the cow's favorite meal.
You can guess who is behind this latest GMO development.
Scotts is Monsanto's exclusive agent for the marketing and distribution of consumer RoundUp.
We are running out of time to try and get Scott's from being able to market and sell this latest GMO product. You can sign this petition which will be sent to Hagedorn, along with the CEOs of Lowe's and Home Depot who are expected to sell the GMO grass.
The world is busy expressing outrage and disbelief after revelations by the US Senate that the CIA used brutal torture methods against prisoners, allegedly to prevent further attacks on the USA in the wake of September 11.
In reality everything that's been admitted in the CIA torture report has already been described by us, the victims of America - whether free or still imprisoned - in excruciating detail to our lawyers, to the media, academics, politicians and even to the police, from the day we were released. The greatest revelation to me at least is that this report was released at all.
As an exercise in openness at least it appears there has been some progress. While it must be noted that the report only details abuses carried out by CIA agents (without mentioning the US military or FBI), there has been far more transparency compared to the countries that were co-opted into the CIA torture programme. In fact, these countries' complicity is even more sinister, considering 25 of them were from Europe. Yet none have made similar confessions. Britain's complicit role in US torture, and the outsourcing of terror suspects to dictatorships in Libya, Egypt and Syria remains woefully unreported, and that was main reason I visited these countries following the so-called Arab spring.
Maybe the leaders of the 54 countries which facilitated the torture can't remember that the Bush administration was committing these crimes on their soil, with their intelligence agencies, with their permission and full cooperation. But those of us who were the recipients of 'American justice' can never forget.
The $585 billion National Defense Authorization Act of 2015 is one of the must-pass pieces of legislation that Congress moves every year. But like they did in attaching extraneous riders to the must-pass government funding bill, lawmakers used the defense bill as a vehicle to pass a massive public lands package.
The bill sailed through on a vote of 89 to 11.
Many of the land measures were popular. But one, the Southeast Arizona Land Exchange and Conservation Act, had twice failed to win support in the House of Representatives, blocked both by conservationists and conservatives.
The deal gives a subsidiary of the Australian-English mining firm Rio Tinto 2,400 acres of the Tonto National Forest in exchange for several other parcels so it can mine a massive copper deposit.
It was set up to address economic issues and the debt accrued by the US government after the War of 1812.
Of course, because there's nothing more permanent than a temporary government measure, the committee became a permanent one after just one year.
It soon expanded its role from raising tariffs to having influence over taxation, banking, currency, and appropriations.
In subsequent wars, notably the American Civil War, the Committee was quick to use its powers and introduced the union's first income tax. They also detached the dollar from gold to help fund the war.
This was all an indication of things to come.
Over the subsequent decades there was a sustained push to finally establish the country's central bank that will control money and credit, as well as institute a permanent income tax to feed the expanding aspirations of government.
They succeeded in 1913 when the Federal Reserve Act was passed and the 16th Amendment ratified, binding the country in the shackles of central banking and taxation of income.
Over the century that followed, the US has gone from being the biggest creditor in the world to its biggest debtor.
Massive scenes of violence were reported in Zurich, one of the world's most quiet and prosperous cities. Some 200 masked left-wing radicals clashed with police and set streets in the city center ablaze. Seven policemen were injured in the incident.
Comment: Zurich is Switzerland's largest city and a major financial hub hosting several banking corporations. The city is also one of the wealthiest in Europe. Are the riots false-flags intended to discredit #ReclaimTheStreets?
He spent his mornings, afternoons and evenings sending thousands of tweets of propaganda about the Islamic State militant group, acting as the leading conduit of information between jihadis, supporters, and recruits.
His tweets, written under the name Shami Witness, were seen two million times each month, making him perhaps the most influential Islamic State Twitter account, with over 17,700 followers.
Comment: Meanwhile, India arrested the man behind the Twitter account:
Police in southern India said they have arrested a man who has admitted to running a popular pro-ISIS group Twitter account, but added that he appears to have no direct links to the militant group. Mehdi Masroor Biswas, a 24-year-old engineer, was being questioned by authorities, Bangalore's top police official, M.N. Reddy, told reporters on Saturday . He said police have no evidence so far that shows that Biswas had any direct links to militants of the Islamic State or any other radical Muslim extremist group.ISIS is created and supported by the United States. In another interesting news, Pakistan arrested an Indian national who is suspected of being a South Asian al Qaeda commander
"He appears to have been only majorly active in the virtual world," Reddy said.
Does this have anything to do with India's stance as a BRICS member nation?
US 'Troubled' by Reports of Crimean Leader's India Visit
Only time will tell.
When President Putin makes his lightning one-day visit to India, the main thing on his mind will be power. He'll be discussing nuclear cooperation and energy when he meets Prime Minister Modi.
"Nuclear energy cooperation is one of the pillars of our strategic partnership. We concluded two inter-governmental agreements in this field in 2008 and in 2010," Putin said in an interview with Indian PTI news agency.
There are two key Russian-India nuclear projects underway. The Kudankulam nuclear power plant is the only nuclear power plant which meets all the "post-Fukushima" safety requirements. The second is awaiting a decision by the Indian government on where it wants to build a new Russian-designed nuclear power plant.
"Our resources enable us to build up to 25 power plants in India. According to experts, however, even these units may not meet the needs of a dynamically developing economy like India," Putin said.
Comment: While Western nations arm twist developing nations for business investments, Putin uses "honest business rationality" to build mutually beneficial relationships with other countries.
The United States has tried to woo India with large investments over the last two decades. But Indians still seem to prefer Russia:
How can India be BFFs with both Russia and the United States?Modi to Putin: Russia to stay India's top defence partner

New Delhi and Moscow maintained strong ties during the cold war, united in part by suspicions of the West. More recently relations experienced some rough patches, especially when Russia decided to sell attack helicopters to Pakistan, India's cross-border rival. Russia was also miffed when India opted to buy some defense hardware from the US and France.
But at a July summit of the emerging-economy BRICS - Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa - Modi assured Putin that their two countries' bonds were as strong as ever. Any Indian child asked to name his country's "best friend" would answer "Russia," he [Modi] said, "because Russia has been with India in times of crisis."
By comparison, US-India relations have been more of a roller-coaster, even over the past decade and despite a high-profile re-launching of ties under President Bush that included the lifting of a three-decade moratorium on civilian nuclear deals with India.

The tension over Ukraine intruded on the choreographed visit when it emerged that the Russian-backed leader of Crimea had travelled as part of Putin's delegation.
"We highly appreciate the friendship, trust and mutual understanding with Indian partners," said Putin, who chiefly touched on bilateral issues in his statement to journalists. No questions were allowed.
VISION
The two leaders presided over the signing of a "vision" document setting out a roadmap for cooperation in the sphere of nuclear power. Putin said Russia could eventually supply India with 20 nuclear reactors.
In the event, Rosatom said that it would supply 12 nuclear energy reactors for India over 20 years.
A 1,000-megawatt reactor is operating at the Russian-built Kudankulam power station in Tamil Nadu, with a second due on-stream in 2015.
Indian officials said a total of six reactors will be built at Kudankulam. A further six will follow at a site to be determined.
Other strategic deals covered oil supply, infrastructure and an increase in direct diamond sales to India by Russian state monopoly Alrosa (ALRS.MM).
On defence, the two sides will seek to move ahead with long-delayed projects to develop a joint fifth-generation fighter jet and a multi-role transport aircraft, in addition to the chopper deal.
A spokesman for India's foreign minister said he was not officially aware of the visit by Crimean leader Sergey Aksyonov, who is subject to Western sanctions.
But Gul Kripalani, a Mumbai businessman who met the Crimean leader at a New Delhi hotel, told Reuters the talks were unofficial and Aksyonov had travelled to India as part of Putin's delegation.
The secret CIA report, in particular, talks about Mohammed Atta. This is one of the immediate leaders of the radical islamists who carried out the attacks on New York and Washington on September 11, 2001. According to the White House version, in April 2001, a few months before the attacks, Atta allegedly met in Prague with a senior agent of then Iraqi authorities. This is how in 2003 Washington tied Baghdad and the attacks, which became another reason for the beginning of the war.
However, as it turned out, the report of the secret service tells quite a different story. CNN has published excerpts from a letter of then-CIA Director John Brennan addressed to one of the senators. The letter talks about intelligence. "No employee of the Department for combating terrorism and no expert of FBI could find evidence that Atta was in Prague. However, the conclusion was just the opposite," - wrote Brennan.
Comment: The CIA will never be held to account for all the torture, murder, and chaos they have created over the past 13 years. That's a given. So what is the real result of this report on CIA torture? One, it shows that they tried their best to stop those morons in office from going to war based on bad intelligence, and two, it shows that they no longer torture people. Wrong on both counts.

Russian President Vladimir Putin before delivering State of the Nation address, 2014.
"Vladimir Putin tops the chart of most important and influential people of 2014," Agence France Presse said in its comment.
The list of influential people according to the French news agency also includes Pope Francis and a young Pakistani human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner, Malala Yusufzai; the leader of the protesters in Hong Kong Joshua Wong; schoolgirls from Nigerian district CIBC kidnapped as a result of the attacks attributed to members of the radical Islamist group Boko Haram; parents of executed American journalist James Foley - Diane and John.
Agence France Press is publishing its list of influential people of 2014 for the second consecutive year. The leader of 2013 ratings was a former U.S. intelligence employee Edward Snowden who found shelter in Russia; Iranian Leader Hassan Rouhani and Pakistani human rights activist Malala Yusufzai who remained on the list in 2014.
