Puppet Masters
Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces freed five villages on the outskirts of the city of Manbij in Syrian Aleppo province from the Daesh terrorists Friday, a Kurdish source told Sputnik.
At least 12 terrorists were killed in Friday fights, the source said.
However, Russian leaders interpret the systems as a threat to them because these "defense systems" are strike-enabling. The new ballistic missile systems enable NATO forces in Poland and Romania to strike Russia with cruise missiles, and then deflect any response.
Russia and China raised similar objections to the missile system being established in the southern part of the Korean Peninsula. In Cold War terms, these missile systems give "first strike capability" to the United States and its NATO allies in Eastern Europe.
The installation of the missiles in Poland has been quite unpopular. Naturally, the installation of the system in Poland has been accompanied by a crackdown on political forces that object to it.
Comment: The "noise machine" is very obvious to anyone paying attention. Unfortunately, because it is so noisy and obnoxious, it isn't very obvious, as yet, to a lot (read, probably most) people.
James Jatras, a former US Senate Foreign Policy analyst, made the remarks in the wake of two massive US-led war games that are about to begin in the Baltic region, near Russia's borders.
Three US B-52 Stratofortress bombers took off from Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota on Thursday to "train and integrate" with 6,100 US allied forces during the annual Baltic Operations (BALTOPS) drills from June 3 to June 19.
The bombers will also take part in NATO's Saber Strike drills that are being held in Baltic States-- Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia -- from May 30 to June 22 and involve nearly 10,000 forces from 14 countries.
During a presidential election year, two of the three remaining major candidates - Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump - have given no indication that they will heed the words of President Truman. For example, Trump has indicated he will give the CIA authority to torture that even the CIA considers illegal.
As for Mrs Clinton, her zeal in supporting the violent overthrow and assassination of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011 only gives added impetus to the out-of-control players inside the CIA to commit similar actions in a Clinton administration. Only Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders appears to channel the beliefs of Truman when it comes to reining in the CIA.
Among the organizers of the initiative is Alexei Makukhin, an adviser to the Ukrainian military. He said that troops fighting militia forces in eastern Ukraine hear a "steady barrage of radio and TV broadcasts that seem crafted to sow doubts about their mission."
"In setting up the Ukraine army radio station, Mr. Makukhin has had help from a US nonprofit called Spirit of America. Unlike many nongovernment organizations in war zones that pledge neutrality, this one tries to align its efforts with US objectives," the article read.
Comment: Here's a wild idea: If the Kiev junta wishes to improve their troops' widespread demoralization, they should stop sending them on missions that kill civilians, destroy communities, and make living conditions impossible for the people of Donetsk and Lugansk.
Comment: There's another angle to the SDF's push to Manbij in Aleppo province (coming right after Daesh took back some territory from U.S.- and Turkey-backed 'rebels' in northwestern Aleppo):
"The speed of the SDF units' movement into Manbij shows that the liberation of the area under the control of the SDF, and with it the strategically important towns of Azaz and Marea in its west, is just a matter of time," said Selcen, who was the Turkish consul in Erbil, the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan.Erdogan apparently asked the Americans about the operation on Manbij and was told that the forces are led by a majority of Arabs, not Kurds. Perhaps that will ease Erdogan's displeasure?
"The liberation of Manbij enables the creation of a corridor between the Kurdish regions of Afrin and Kobani. Or course, this step would have a negative impact for Ankara and its Syrian politics. Nevertheless, I get the impression that Ankara has toned down rhetoric regarding Manbij."
However, the fact that the Obama administration has been consorting with terrorist allies of al-Qaeda and the Islamic State in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Libya, and other countries has received little to no coverage in the American media. More astoundingly, Ahrar ash-Sham, which, along with the al-Nusra Front massacred 19 Alawite Muslims in the Syrian village of Zara in May, is not designated a terrorist group by the US State Department.
The simple fact is that from CIA director John Brennan to national security adviser Susan Rice and US Central Command chief General Joseph Votel to Senate Armed Services Committee chairman Senator John McCain, the Obama administration and the Republicans who control Congress have consorted with Islamist terrorists. These groups have included those who have executed Americans and who help finance and plan terrorist attacks against civilians around the world. The visit of al-Nahhas to Washington follows a long tradition of the US government consorting with Sunni Mujahideen (called the "muj" by their CIA overseers), jihadists, and Salafists starting with the support for Muslim insurgents in Afghanistan and continuing with the provision of military training and weapons to Sunni Arab guerrillas in Iraq.
Amid concerted offensives to liberate the Iraqi cities of Raqqa and Fallujah from Daesh terrorists, on Wednesday the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), backed by the United States, also began an offensive against Manbij to free the Syrian city from Daesh. The city is in the governorate of Aleppo, and is located close to the Turkish border.
In November last year Turkey was so belligerent it shot down Russia's Su-24 fighter jet which was was carrying out anti-Daesh operations in northern Syria, close to the Turkish border.
According to Lavrov, the US-led coalition "is just going through the motions." "When I talked recently with [US Secretary of State John] Kerry, I inquired why they had actually stopped bombing terrorists and actually had not made a single sortie to fight oil smuggling into Turkey," the Russian foreign minister said.
"He [Kerry] said they were dealing with this. Again, the logic is put forward that terrorists are mixed with the good opposition and, therefore, when you hit terrorists, you harm the good opposition, which must be avoided," Lavrov said.
"But I reminded him that late in February they solemnly promised us that the groups that they consider patriotic and loyal and with whom they cooperate, will be removed from the positions occupied by Jabhat al-Nusra," the Russian foreign minister said, noting that over the past three months nothing had been done.

There will be no "world war". President Putin said this in Vladimir Solovyov's film World Order. I am convinced that responsible politicians in the West will not allow this to happen either, because they still remember well the horrors of the First and the Second World Wars. Russia suffered the greatest losses during the war in Europe, China suffered the greatest losses in the Pacific as it fought Japanese militarism. Again, the politicians cannot let that happen.
Of course, we can rely on others, but above all, we need to think about us being prepared to prevent another war. Such attempts are being made in regard to building excessive military capabilities and in violation of international treaties.
Announcing the June 1 start of hurricane season, Obama warned Americans to prepare for imminent climate change-caused hurricanes:
"All of us have seen the heartbreak, the damage and, in some case, the loss of life that hurricanes can cause. And as climate continues to change, hurricanes are only going to become more powerful and more devastating.
"One of the things that we have learned over the course of the last seven and a half years is that government plays a vital role, but it is every citizen's responsibility to be prepared for a disaster. And that means taking proactive steps, like having an evacuation plan, having a fully stocked disaster supply kit. If your local authorities ask you to evacuate, you have to do it. Don't wait."
