Putin's warning to the West: Moscow sees Ukraine as part of 'Russian world' & this is meant to be taken seriously by outsiders

Russian President Vladimir Putin has fired the starting pistol on a new row with Kiev this week. The events in question, however, are not new - but very, very old, with Putin questioning the very basis of Ukrainian nationhood.

"I consider the wall that in recent years has gone up between Russia and Ukraine, between what are in essence two parts of a single historical and spiritual space, to be a great common misfortune, a tragedy." With these words, Putin laid out his version of Russian-Ukrainian history in a long article published on the Kremlin website earlier this week.

For Putin, those living across both nations are "one people," whose "spiritual, human, and civilisational links were formed over centuries." The president went on to say that "our kinship has been passed on from generation to generation. It's in our hearts... in the blood ties uniting millions of our families."

Beijing blasts 'irresponsible' US provocation after Washington rejects China's 'unlawful' maritime claims in the South China Sea

China has hit back immediately at US Secretary of State Antony Blinken after he said Washington firmly stands with other southeast Asian nations and not China in ongoing disputes over territory in the contested South China Sea.

Speaking at a daily briefing on Wednesday, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian told reporters in Beijing that the US was extremely "irresponsible" for involving itself in disputes relating to the overlapping claims of multiple nations in the South China Sea.

"It is extremely irresponsible of the US to deliberately provoke controversy over territorial sovereignty and maritime rights in the South China Sea, [and to] sow discord among China and ASEAN countries," he stated.

We found nearly $400M rotting in a forgotten taxpayer-funded government account

Collected taxpayer pool waits for Congress to decide its useage.
Holed away in a government account is a massive cash stash most anyone — from depleted federal programs to coronavirus-throttled charitable causes — would love to tap.

But it sits idle and untouched.

The intended beneficiaries of the taxpayer-fueled Presidential Election Campaign Fund — presidential candidates — don't want it, as they're soured by its restrictions on their election fundraising and spending. Other prospective recipients, meanwhile, can't have it.

Congress is what's preventing this.

Conservatives would prefer to disband the fund and repurpose its money. Many Democrats want the money to seed a reimagined public campaign-finance program contained within a broader "democracy-reform" agenda that's hamstrung on Capitol Hill. Neither side will budge.

Meanwhile, the Presidential Election Campaign Fund's pot had topped more than $396.4 million as of May 31 — a record amount during the fund's nearly 50-year history, according to US Treasury records reviewed by Insider.

If current trends continue, it'll soon surpass $400 million thanks to the financial heft generated by American taxpayers who check that little box on their annual tax return that directs $3 to the fund.

Michele Flournoy, an ex-Obama official and a close ally to President Biden, issued a mea culpa after addressing an event held by an Iranian group formerly on the US terrorism list, claiming she was "unaware" of its involvement.

Flournoy - who served as Barack Obama's undersecretary of defense for policy and now heads up a major consulting firm with close ties to the Biden administration - appeared virtually at the 'Free Iran World Summit 2021' event on Sunday, where she openly endorsed "internal regime change" in the Islamic Republic.
"This regime should not expect an easy ride from this administration or from the US Congress. The American commitment to Iran's people in their quest to be free remains unfaltering. When there is an internal regime change, and a government comes to power that renounces its revolutionary aims and terrorism, the United States will be the first in line to engage it."
However, approached about her speech by reporters with the Institute for Responsible Statecraft and the Daily Beast, Flournoy's consulting firm WestExec Advisors attempted to distance her from the event's sponsor, the National Council of Resistance of Iran. The council serves as the diplomatic branch of the Mujahedin-e-Khalq (MEK), an Iranian dissident group previously on the US terrorism blacklist due to alleged involvement in a string of bombings and assassinations between 1979 and 2000.

China cheers Russia's move away from US dollar in favor of yuan

Beijing has welcomed Russia's decision to cut the US currency from its National Wealth Fund and give the yuan a bigger role, China's Foreign Ministry has announced.

Last week, Russia fully eliminated the US dollar from its National Wealth Fund, reducing its share from 35% to zero. Meanwhile, it raised the amount of Chinese yuan in the fund to 30.4%, which put it in second place after the euro with 39.7%.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said Russia's action shows confidence in China's economic development and the future of the countries' cooperation. He stressed that China would continue to boost cooperation with Russia, which he dubbed mutually beneficial, while supporting its ally in international and regional affairs.

China has firm belief in its currency, with high hopes of it becoming the world's 'currency of choice' by 2050 under the country's so-called dual circulation strategy.

Comment: Economic upheaval takes a predictable turn to the benefit of some and fallout for others:
Russia has eliminated US currency from its National Wealth Fund while boosting the share of the euro, the Chinese yuan and gold, the country's Finance Ministry announced on Tuesday. British pound was lowered to 5% and the share of non-cash gold is 20.2%.
"These conversion operations were carried out with the funds of the NWF in foreign currency placed in accounts with the Bank of Russia as of July 1, 2021, as well as with federal budget funds in foreign currency in the equivalent of 31.6 billion rubles, credited to the Fund on July 2 this year in order to form it in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation."
The ministry indicated that the yuan and the euro are seen as an alternative to the dollar "as the currencies of Russia's leading foreign economic partners," while gold is viewed as "an asset capable of protecting the NWF's investments from inflationary risks."

The Finance Ministry explained that its latest steps were aimed
"at ensuring the safety of the NWF funds in the context of macroeconomic and geopolitical trends of recent years, and decisions aimed at "de-dollarization" of the Russian economy."
The ministry's action mirrors a similar move made recently by Russia's central bank in order to reduce assets held in US currency.

Pankin said that US sanctions and unpredictable economic policy "call into question the reliability and convenience of using the American currency as the priority currency of deals." As a result, the minister said, countries were now being "forced to take measures against the risk of economic losses and disrupted transactions," while using other currencies in trade is becoming increasingly convenient on the international agenda.

Vax Squad to the rescue? North Carolina town first to roll out controversial 'Doses to Doors' vaccine delivery program

U.S. President Joe Biden visits a mobile COVID-19 vaccination unit and meets with frontline workers and volunteers at Green Road Community Center in Raleigh, North Carolina, U.S., June 24, 2021.
A newly minted program intended to deliver the Covid-19 vaccine directly to people's doors in a North Carolina town has sent chills down the spines of some residents, while others welcomed it as helpful service for the infirm.

The program, called "Doses to Doors," is designed to target ZIP codes with low vaccine uptake and "dispel rumors" about the Covid-19 jab that may be circulating in those communities.

The program launched officially on Monday at the South Side Homes apartment complex in Charlotte, North Carolina, where volunteers from the nonprofit group Action NC distributed flyers with information about the shot.

"We're not confrontational, it's not like you have to get the shot," member Robert Dawkins told local outlet WBTV. "We get people that will say 'Yes, I will get the shot,' but the follow-up has always been the issue," Dawkins said. "Will they go? How can we get people to go out and go? So now that the health department is out with us, we miss that middle step now."

One man reportedly even "jumped at the chance" to get the one-off Johnson & Johnson shot right on his porch, according to WBTV. The man said that he was too busy taking care of his grandkids to go to the pharmacy, claiming he would tell his family members he had been vaccinated in the hope of convincing them to follow suit.

Peter Schweizer, president of the Government Accountability Institute (GAI), said on Monday that his organization had confirmed that President Joe Biden "was a direct beneficiary" of Hunter Biden's financial deals with foreign interests.

"We do have a copy, by the way, here at GAI of [Hunter Biden's] laptop and all the files," Schweizer said on the Sean Hannity Show. "It confirms that Joe Biden was a direct beneficiary."

The failure to prosecute George Floyd rioters and looters has created for blacks a form of "squatter's rights" to loot stores. San Francisco has an even more insane government than Portland, Seattle, Minneapolis, Chicago and New York. In San Francisco children of the criminal class become District Attorney. San Francisco's District Attorney is Chesa Boudin, whose parents were members of the violent Weather Underground and were convicted of murdering two police officers and a security guard. Boudin was raised by other members of the violent group.

Chesa protects black thieves by treating thefts that don't exceed $950 as misdemeanors, not subject to meaningful punishment. As long as the blacks add up the prices correctly, they can walk off with the goods.

The thefts have caused Walgreens to close 17 of its stores in the San Francisco area. San Francisco stores, such as Neiman Marcus close at 6pm due to looting. The looting has also caused Target to limit business hours. GAP in Union Square has closed.

The movie Escape from New York is going to resonate in every Blue City.

'Bay of Tweets': Twitter allows anti-Cuba bot army to run loose despite 'coordinated inauthentic behavior' rules

twitter bots
The United Nations has voted every year since 1992 to condemn the US 60-year embargo of Cuba, which is responsible for shortages in fuel, medicine, and essential parts on the island that have affected the life of every one of its 11.5 million people. Despite the suffering, the US maintains "sanctions are tools for democracy."

Even before protests broke out in Cuba on Sunday, a coordinated online campaign to spread anti-Cuban messages had begun circulating on Twitter. Not only does the social media giant appear to be uninterested in stopping it, but it has a history of arbitrarily shutting down Cuban government and media accounts as well.

As reports of protests in Cuba over brownouts and shortages of medical supplies spread on Sunday, debate on social media raged about the meaning of the demonstrations. Supporters of the Cuban government soon found themselves inundated with replies by accounts with zero followers and that followed zero accounts and had been created within the last few months or even days.

New documentary on JFK assassination reveals 'organized black op,' not a lone wolf killing: Director Oliver Stone to RT

Oliver Stone has released a new documentary on the JFK assassination, revisiting a topic that made him a maverick in Hollywood. Despite what the mainstream narrative suggests, the evidence points to a clear conspiracy, he told RT.

Some three decades after the release of his groundbreaking and controversial film JFK, Stone has returned once more to the events leading up to and following the gruesome killing in November 1963 of American's 35th president. For the legendary filmmaker and director, the assassination is as relevant today as it was thirty years ago.
