'Endemic US mass shootings driven by gun culture & nihilistic rage'

Due to widespread Islamophobia many US citizens are rushing to blame Islamist radicalism for an "pandemic" of mass shootings and do not realize that the government's own gun policies only fuel the violence, RT America's Chris Hedges believes.

Although most people in the US assume the radical ideology and Islamic terrorism are behind the present-day rampage, the fact is that mass shootings are an inevitable consequence of the US domestic policy, Hedges said.

"Islamophobia runs deep in the United States. I think when people hear about mass shootings before the name of the perpetrator is released because of the long "war on terror" there's often an unstated assumption that there is a connection to radical Islamic militancy. But, in fact, mass shootings, unfortunately, in the United States are endemic," Hedges told RT.

"It's a confluence of the gun culture of the nihilistic rage that grips the underclass in the United States and figures such as this particular shooter are easily seduced by ideologies that sanction this," he added saying that the latest massacre in Orlando will "stoke" even more Islamophobia in the US.

Hedges said that the current gun policy has only worsened the security situation in the country.

The threat of hybrid wars and defeating them

© wickedpleasures.tumbler
Hybrid Wars are actually something completely different than what most people think they are. My view is that what everybody else talks about - information war, economic war, institutional war - all of that has actually been practiced before, it's just that nowadays it's being integrated together into a weaponized approach.

Instead, my definition of Hybrid War deals with its practical implementation in transitioning a Color Revolution into an Unconventional War in order to pursue regime change or identity federalism in a targeted state.

"The Law Of Hybrid War", as I call it, is that "the grand objective behind every Hybrid War is to disrupt multipolar transnational connective projects through externally provoked identity conflicts (ethnic, religious, regional, political, etc.) within a targeted transit state", and we can observe that in practice by the US' efforts to obstruct Russia's integration projects in Ukraine and sabotage Iran's previously planned Friendship Pipeline through Syria. Looking forward, all of the infrastructure corridors that collectively comprise China's One Belt One Road global network, otherwise called the "New Silk Road", are obvious targets as well, especially the shared area of strategic focus that both Russia and China have in the Balkans and Central Asia.

Now that I've told you about what Hybrid Wars are, let me tell you how they operate. NGOs and intelligence agencies work to cultivate political and civil society front groups inside of the targeted states, eventually building these networks up until the point where they're strong enough to challenge the legitimate authorities. Before any hostilities even commence, NGOs and intelligence agencies spend time in fostering a sense of deeply rooted differences among the population that are usually centered on some form of identity, whether real, imagined, or exaggerated, in order to manufacture more intense anti-government resentment.

Russia dismantles the myth of American Navy's invincibility

Graphic of war ship on radar
US rules the globe, having a navy three times stronger than that of Russia. Moreover, the Pentagon has created a strategic command to deploy large units of land forces, consisting of hundreds of cargo ships of large capacity. All of these vessels are organized in very strong expeditionary naval groups and around aircraft carriers, amphibious landing ships, and naval convoys of troops and military equipment.

With troops deployed in Europe and Asia, with the armies of allied states, the US can trigger an invasion of Russia. Therefore Russia's new military doctrine establishes that the biggest risk to Russia's security groups is the American expeditionary naval groups, which can transport invasion troops to the Russian border.

Gitmo 2016: RT journalist interviews Guantanamo Bay guards, takes viewers inside facility

The new RT special GTMO 2016 offers a kaleidoscope view of the Guantanamo Bay military prison with conversations with guards, detainees' lawyers, excerpts from a detainee's daily dairy and the activists fighting for justice and their release.

"I can't speak about what went on with them prior to coming here," a non-commissioned military police officer at maximum security Camp 5 told RT's Simone Del Rosario. The officer's identity was withheld and his face is obscured from view in the special, which that takes viewers inside the military prison's Camp 6 as well as the entrance to Camp 5.

Camp 6

Camp 6 is where men are being held waiting for release. These are men detained for years, not charged with any crime. There are also others who are yet to be reviewed for possible transfer years after being detained.

They live in a communal setting with single cells measuring 95 square feet with access to showers, a media room and a library, according to the guards who describe the men as the most compliant. Additionally, they can watch television, read, and, guided by military-painted directions, pray towards Mecca.

Detained without due process, they are, to a degree, self-governed. The Camp 6 prisoners select a block leader to negotiate with their guards.

Life-threatening tyrant: German MPs call for a travel ban on Erdogan

The German police heightened the security of 11 Bundestag MPs with Turkish origin. The reason is the increase in number of threats and insults against them over the adoption of the Armenian Genocide recognition resolution.

Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung periodical writes the Berlin police, the police of the Federal Parliament and the Federal Security Service made a decision over this issue at the meeting with the MPs.

The number of police also increased near Cem Ozdemir's house. As Deutsche Welle reports, German Minister for Immigration, Refugees and Integration Aydan Özoğuz urged the Turkish companies operating in Germany to demonstrate clear stance over the threats against the Turkish MPs. "We expect the Turkish organizations in Germany to openly criticize the threats against the MPs. Everyone must understand that we are committed to our origins, however, without being an extension of Turkey", Özoğuz said.

The Recolonization of Latin America: Fighting for the future of Venezuela

Washington wants Latin and Central America recolonized, US-controlled tyranny replacing sovereign independence throughout the hemisphere.

At an Association of Caribbean States summit last week in Havana, Cuban President Raul Castro expressed alarm about Latin American and Caribbean "turbulence," calling it the result "of an imperialist and oligarchic counteroffensive against popular and progressive governments."

Washington orchestrated Brazil's coup, wrongfully impeaching President Dilma Rousseff, forcing her to step down for 180 days, facing Senate trial controlled by right-wing fascists sure to convict her - despite no legitimate grounds. She committed no crimes.

Washington wants neoliberal harshness replacing Venezuelan Bolivarian fairness. Its tactics include making its economy scream, causing enormous hardships for ordinary people, orchestrating violent street protests, and wanting President Nicolas Maduro ousted by coup, recall referendum or perhaps assassination if other methods fail.

A US warplane hit the forces of an allied Sunni Muslim militant group that Washington had trained in an apparent case of friendly fire in late May, according to a WSJ report. Pentagon has launched an internal investigation.

On May 27 and May 28, the US conducted a series of airstrikes in and around the city of Ma'ra, Centcom spokesman Colonel Patrick Ryder said in a statement on Saturday, confirming an earlier media report.

"The coalition was subsequently informed that one of the airstrikes may have hit counter-ISIL forces and their vehicle, instead of ISIL forces. Initial reports were that four counter-ISIL personnel may have been killed in the strike," he said.

The strikes targeted the forces of the terrorist group Islamic State (formerly ISIS or ISIL), but the Pentagon-backed Mutasim Brigade said one of them hit its troops, killing 10 fighters, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.

Sick hypocrites: Britain 'reviewing' Palestine aid, as U.S. pledges biggest military aid package to Israel ever

Palestinian aid is under review by the British government after it was alleged some of the funds are paying the 'salaries' of terrorists. The probe comes as the US promised to give Israel the "largest military aid package in history."

The Department for International Development (DfID) said it is reviewing its aid package to the Palestinian territories as it considers "how best to support" a two-state solution in the region.

But pro-Israel MPs in the British Parliament have criticized the department for ignoring allegations that UK aid money is falling into the wrong hands.

Speaking to the Jewish Chronicle on Friday, Joan Ryan MP claimed the UK government is effectively funding terrorism.

Comment: 1) Prove that any real 'terrorists' benefited from this aid. Palestine is morally and legally entitled to an armed resistance to Israeli military occupation. 2) Even if this is proved, are we really expected to accept that the UK cares? These are the same psychopaths who support terrorists in Syria! The U.S., their ideological ally, is giving $40 billion to a terrorist state: Israel. The hypocrisy is sickening.

Crying McFaul: U.S. bullies Canada to pursue anti-Russian foreign policy

 Michael McFaul

Michael McFaul: another bombastic flunky for Empire
As the world is faced with numerous crises requiring cooperation between the US and Russia - Syria, Ukraine, and international terrorism to name just three - Washington just can't help its Russophobic ways.

Most recently, former US Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul expressed his extreme displeasure (dare I say revulsion) at the idea that the Canadian Government, and specifically its Foreign Affairs Minister Stéphane Dion, could possibly make the independent decision to not follow the diktats of Washington in adopting a Canadian version of the Magnitsky Act, a piece of proposed legislation which would have severe repercussions for the Russia-Canada relationship. McFaul, a staunch anti-Putin crusader whose time as ambassador was marred by countless failures and embarrassing public blunders, went so far as to cast doubt on the commitment to human rights of Mr. Dion and the Canadian Government.

In highly undiplomatic language, McFaul bluntly declared, "Do you stand for human rights or not? If this is an important value [sic] then this is something that should be done." Leaving aside the condescension oozing from every word of that statement, it is quite clear that the US political establishment is not at all pleased with its usually pliant partners in the Great White North who, it seems, are attempting the unthinkable: conducting a foreign policy that is independent of the United States, at least on this issue. Indeed, despite the finger-wagging from McFaul, and the ceaseless lobbying and self-promotion of the vulture capitalist and convicted criminal Bill Browder, Canada is unwilling to sacrifice its increasingly friendly relations with Moscow simply to satisfy the anti-Putin obsession of interests based in Washington and London.

Fallujah, perennial poster-child for US war crimes

Fallujah

Shock and Awe
No city in Iraq is more symbolic of the criminal consequences of the US invasion of Iraq than Fallujah. Prior to 2003, the 300,000-strong, prosperous, predominantly Sunni Muslim community on the Euphrates River, one of humanity's oldest continuous urban settlements, was known as the "city of mosques." After 13 years of destruction at the hands of the US military and its client state in Baghdad, it is today a labyrinth of ruins, a city of the dead.

Following weeks of air strikes by US, British and Australian bombers, a combination of Iraqi government forces and Shiite militias is reportedly on the verge of a final offensive to seize back Fallujah from some 500 fighters of the Sunni-extremist Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), which took control of the city in early 2014. Iraqi special forces units are accompanied by elite troops of the US, British and Australian militaries, who direct air strikes and ground artillery bombardments and provide tactical advice to Iraqi commanders.

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCR) Zeid Ra'ad al Hussein has issued urgent appeals concerning the fate of the estimated 50,000 civilians who are trapped in Fallujah, without food or water. Civilian deaths caused by the offensive have been justified in advance by the US-backed Iraqi government with allegations that the occupiers are using the population as "human shields." ISIS is accused of murdering dozens of people who have attempted to flee.

Men and teenagers who do escape are being detained by Iraqi government and militia units. According to the UNHCR, they are being subjected to "physical violations and other forms of abuse, apparently in order to elicit forced confessions" of being ISIS members or supporters. The UNHCR has received unconfirmed accounts of at least 21 summary executions.

In the media coverage, the question as to how and why ISIS was able to gain control of the city two years ago is largely ignored. To the extent it is raised, the explanation given is Sunni resentment over the sectarian and discriminatory policies of the Shiite-dominated government— after the withdrawal of American troops in 2011. The Iraqi people as a whole are generally portrayed as incurably divided along Sunni, Shiite and Kurdish lines, incapable of living in harmony together and inherently attracted to extremist ethno-sectarian ideologies.A review of the tortured history of Fallujah since 2003 makes clear that this narrative is a lie.

Comment: "America believes ... that it would be a desirable thing if the world did become more democratic, and backward nations did become more like us. We regard that as our own national interest, and in the interests of those other nations as well." -Rational Optimist

USA continues warping history to its narrative with all the usual motives, the consequences inconsequential. In the end there can be only one justifiable outcome, and, if Fallujah is any example, it will not be a slap on the wrist for the USA and its 'democratic' paradise on earth.
