Puppet Masters
Hunter Biden's accountant Eric Schwerin sent Hunter a reply to how much income he could expect to make in 2017 even if he had to go to jail. Schwerin responded that Hunter could conservatively estimate around $750,000 annually, even if he went to jail:
The fact that Hunter was worried or concerned about going to jail says something - that he was aware that he was doing something illegal and that he could go to jail for doing.
We don't know all that Hunter was up to specifically related to his concerns above but we do know that Hunter and his business partner Devin Archer were copied on the announcement that then Vice President Joe Biden was traveling to Ukraine.
The Home Secretary said she would not spend the holiday season with her family in other parts of the UK - and that she would "of course" inform the police if she spied her neighbours ignoring the rules.
Comment: Nobody should aspire to be like Priti Patel, she has done a number of things that no upstanding citizen would dare do: UK MP Priti Patel resigns after admitting to secret meetings with Israeli politicians and trying to divert taxpayers money to Israeli army
Speaking to BBC Breakfast, the Home Secretary said she would dob in her neighbours.
"Any individual that saw any laws being broken would take that upon themselves," Ms Patel said.

Long gone are the days of Snopes assuring readers there isn't a million dollars waiting in a Nigerian bank account for them. Distant are the happier times when fact-checks assured us there was no hook-handed hitchhiker killing our grandparents on the local highway.
Instead today, we see an alliance between corporate media and corporate tech titans to squelch debate, silence conservatives, and literally censor regular Americans, dissenting scientists, newspaper competitors, and even the president of the United States. No longer even content with simply nitpicking and undermining debate, the fact checks on the United States' COVID vaccine timeline expose how outlets like NBC, The New York Times, and The Washington Post are willing to attack American dreams and aspirations to score political points.
Comment: The counterbalance to news bias is a honed discernment by the reader.
The two House members are proposing bipartisan legislation designed to limit government surveillance of people without warrants and probable cause.
The Protect Our Civil Liberties Act would repeal both the Patriot Act and the FISA Amendments Act that permitted government agencies to collect mass telephone and email data. Gabbard and Massie argue that this surveillance violates Americans' right to privacy and their civil liberties.
In a video announcement Wednesday, Gabbard said the bill would make sure that Congress
"reexamines how best to strike this balance of protecting our national security interests while also ensuring that the constitutional rights of every single American is preserved."
"Protection of our civil liberties is essential [...] Join us in making sure that our constitutional rights are upheld." The Hawaii Democrat also called out the intelligence community, saying it "has not been transparent or honest with the American people or even Congress about what they've been doing."
Comment: The whole Congress should be questioning this act and the implications it holds for interference with Fourth Amendment rights. They were elected to be the gatekeepers, not the gate.

Behind the scenes: A top Biden official was unaware of the directive. Administration officials left open the possibility cooperation would resume after a holiday pause. The officials were unsure what prompted Miller's action, or whether President Trump approved.
Why it matters: Miller's move, which stunned officials throughout the Pentagon, was the biggest eruption yet of animus and mistrust toward the Biden team from the top level of the Trump administration.
Comment: Newsmax adds:
The order comes after the Office of the Director of National Intelligence warned thatWhy be telling a senile old man secrets he probably won't be needing to know?"the Intelligence Community will not meet the December 18 deadline, set by Executive Order and Congress to submit the IC's classified assessment on foreign threats to the 2020 U.S. elections. The IC has received relevant reporting since the election and a number of agencies have not finished coordinating on the product."The intelligence community is also currently dealing with a reportedly massive cyber attack targeting several federal agencies, including the Departments of Defense, State, Treasury, Homeland Security, and Commerce, as well as the Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration.
UPDATE: Acting SefDef Miller released the following statement:
DoD continues to support the presidential transition aligned with the President Transition Act, White House and Biden-Harris Transition Team Memorandum of Understanding, and DoD policy.

Federal prosecutor David Weiss paused a criminal investigation of Hunter Biden months before the 2020 election.
Tony Bobulinski and James Gilliar worked with Hunter on a business deal with Chinese Energy Company CEFC in 2017 and sought to get Hunter's father, then the former vice president of the U.S., involved in the deal to make it appear as "truly" a "family business." The two also involved Joe's brother, Jim Biden, in the deal, as well, according to the messages obtained by Fox News.
In an April 30, 2017, exchange, Bobulinski asked Gilliar: "What is the deal w Jim Biden as he wasn't part of the discussion but now seems a focal point[?]"
Gilliar responded: "With H demons, could be good to have a back up, he strengthens our USP to Chinese as it looks like a truly family business, and I like the dude."
Later in a May 11, 2017, exchange, Gilliar wrote to Bobulinski: "Man U are right let's get the company set up, then tell H and family the high stakes and get Joe involved."
An algorithm tweak that saw Facebook users deluged with mainstream media stories following last month's elections has been reversed, the social media behemoth told the New York Times on Wednesday, insisting that the change - which significantly boosted traffic for establishment outlets like CNN, NPR, and the Times itself while suppressing alt-media and right-wing sites - was never meant to be permanent.

Senator Jacky Rosen (D-Nevada) appears remotely at a hearing with ex-CISA director Chris Krebs, December 16, 2020
Krebs, a former Microsoft executive who led the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency until he was fired by President Donald Trump last month, testified before the Senate on Wednesday.
While the president tweeted that Krebs had been "totally excoriated and proven wrong" at the hearing, Rosen, a Nevada Democrat, dismissed all claims by the Trump campaign lawyer Jesse Binnall as baseless.

This is the essence of all good storytelling — create characters who rise to be role models for us as we navigate our way through a Universe hostile to our very existence.
While I hesitate to ascribe such noble ideas as 'character' to any politician there are a few out there who have shown great potential. I've written about all of them at various times in the past few years.
Matteo Salvini in Italy, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Russian President Vladmir Putin, Nigel Farage in the UK and even a flawed figure like Donald Trump are all examples of men who history will remember as having stood up when needed.
The group, calling themselves the Secular Democrats of America, sent the letter to Biden's team under the title "Restoring Constitutional Secularism and Patriotic Pluralism in the White House: Prepared exclusively by Secular Democrats of America PAC for President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris Transition Team."
The document, presented by Reps Jamie Raskin, D-Md., and Jared Huffman, D-Calif., and endorsed by Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-Calif., states that an incoming Biden administration must "educate the American public," particularly those identified as the "religious right," on the need to keep their "religious dogma" to themselves. The document calls for a purge of social conservatives from all levels of government, labeling them as "white nationalist" and "conspiracy theorists."
"They don't have a problem with churches, they have a problem with conservative churches that voted for Donald Trump," Brannon Howse, a conservative radio host who aired a program on the document Monday night, told LeoHohmann.com. "And some of the people promoting this are members of the leftist neo-evangelical community."

Comment: Hunter is a dirtbag. According to Joe, he's also "the smartest man I know."
