Jumping off the Trump train: Assange was the last straw

On March 6, 2016, this Deplorable issued a statement formally endorsing Donald J. Trump for the presidency of the United State. I now hereby withdraw that endorsement.

No doubt this declaration from your Working Boy will be greeted with the same deafening indifference as my earlier less than earth-shattering announcement of support. Keep calm. The planet will continue to spin on its axis at a 23.44 degree tilt.

As I tweeted on April 4, when it appeared that Ecuadorian President Lenín [sic] Moreno was going to cough up Julian Assange:

"If this comes to pass & #JulianAssange is brought to #US in chains like a Gaulish chieftain in a Roman triumph can we definitively declare that any possible #Trump revolution is over & the #DeepState won?"

A quick perusal of social media since Assange's arrest shows that many others have reached a similar conclusion.

But why? To be sure, there have been other betrayals. The two strikes on Syria on phony chemical warfare accusations come immediately to mind. Or Trump's failure to build the Mexican wall, coupled with repeated humiliating defeats in Congress with the predictability of Charlie Brown's getting suckered by Lucy into trying to kick the football.

Comment: What happened? Donald Trump was sidetracked by several 'loco' 'motives' engineered by his neocon cohorts, the conductors of Russiagate, and switch master Netanyahu. So far he has a ticket to ride, but only if he stays on the rails.

Switzerland will sign an accord backing China's Belt and Road Initiative when President Ueli Maurer visits China this month, cementing ties with a major trading partner as other Western countries view the gargantuan project with scepticism.

President Xi Jinping's new Silk Road initiative has been controversial particularly in Washington, which views it as a way to spread Chinese influence abroad and saddle countries with unsustainable debt, a charge Beijing rejects.

Locked in a trade war with China, the United States has been particularly critical of Italy's decision to sign up to the plan, the first for a G7 nation. Others in the West are less keen to jump aboard, although many have kept an open mind.

President Donald Trump's move to let U.S. citizens file lawsuits over property confiscated in Cuba during the 1959 revolution angered European allies who vowed to challenge the reversal of more than two decades of policy.

The U.S. will begin on May 2 to enforce a provision of a 1996 law known as the Helms-Burton Act that allows Cubans who fled Fidel Castro's regime to sue companies that have used their former property on the island. Like his predecessors, Trump had previously waived the provision, Title III, because enforcing it could result in a flood of litigation against foreign companies.

"Americans who have had their private and hard-earned property stolen in Cuba will finally be allowed to sue," White House National Security Adviser John Bolton said Wednesday at a speech in Miami. "Anyone who traffics in property stolen from Americans will not be issued a visa to the United States. They are not welcome here."

The report, which includes testimony from Enrique Tarrio, the man whose Chase account was terminated, features undercover video of conversations with bank professionals discussing the account's closure.

Said Project Veritas founder James O'Keefe, "Are there unwritten Chase policies that Mr. Tarrio and others were in breach of? 'Debanking' appears to be a new frontier in American politics."

Haftar-led army accuses Tripoli gov't of bombing civilian facilities

The Libyan National Army (LNA), led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, has accused the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) of unleashing airstrikes on civilian facilities in the town of Garyan, south of the Libyan capital.

"The aviation units [based in] Misrata [town loyal to the GNA] attacked civilian facilities in the town of Garyan for its support of the [LNA] army. The town residents condemn these attacks, which have caused material damage to public and private property," the LNA military information department said.

The situation in Libya escalated in early April after Haftar ordered the LNA to move on Tripoli. His army established control over two towns near the Libyan capital. In response, forces loyal to the GNA launched operation "Volcano of Anger" to defend the city from the LNA fighters.

Paris' second-largest church was DELIBERATELY set on fire last month

According to the latest available information, accidental cause has been ruled out by investigators one day after the Saint-Sulpice church fire in the 6th arrondissement of Paris. Investigations are continuing

In the aftermath of the Saint-Sulpice fire, the investigators have already drawn some conclusions. Our sources say that the incident began Sunday at around 1:30pm, at an entrance to the church overlooking Palatine Street in the 6th arrondissement, and that its cause was "human" and "deliberate."

"The near-disaster occurred close to a spot where a homeless person's clothes were stored - though this person was not present at that time," said our source. This same source stated that "accidental origin of an electrical or technical nature, or negligence, have been discarded."

"It's now a question of whether the perpetrator is someone who isn't all there in the head, or has some sort of mental instability. There are known homeless persons who come often, but they are typically peaceful," comments another source.

Comment: Saint-Sulpice church remains open. But after what just happened to Notre Dame cathedral, for how much longer?

Something is clearly going on here. Notre Dame is Paris' largest church (cathedral), and Saint-Sulpice is its second-largest.

We're not aware of any further information from officials in France about what took place at the Saint-Sulpice. It's as if they caught someone doing it, discovered who they were, then covered up for them.

Given this precedent just three weeks before Notre Dame, it's reasonable to suspect that it too was deliberately targeted.

So newly reelected Israeli monster-in-chief Benjamin Netanyahu has boasted, with a grin, that America's President Donald J. Trump followed through on his proposal to declare the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) a terrorist group. Bibi was smiling because the timing of the move, one day before the Israeli election, strongly suggests it was done to assist him against what had become a very strong opposition challenge. That Trump likely colluded with Netanyahu to blatantly interfere in the election has apparently bothered no one in Israel or in the tame American media.

The gift from Washington came on top of recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, threatening members of the International Criminal Court if they try to prosecute Israel for war crimes, moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, removing the word "occupation" from the State Department's assessments of human rights infringements on the West Bank, eliminating relief funding for Palestinian refugees, leaving the U.N. Human Rights Council because it was too critical of Israel, and looking the other way as Israel declared itself a state only for Jews. Washington also ignored the bombing of hospitals, schools and water treatment infrastructure in Gaza while Israeli army snipers were shooting unarmed demonstrators demanding their freedom.

The labeling of the Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist group is particularly disturbing as it means that the United States military by virtue of the Authorization to Use Military Force (AUMF) now has a mandate to attack the IRGC wherever it appears, including in Syria or even in the waterway the Straits of Hormuz, where the guard has regular patrols in small boats. It is a de facto declaration of war and it comes on top of a number of deliberate provocations directed against Iran starting with the withdrawal from the nuclear agreement Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action (JCPOA) one year ago, which led to the unilateral imposition of harsh sanctions directed against the Iranian economy to bring about a popular uprising as well as regularly repeated false claims that Iran is the leading "state sponsor of terrorism." Next month, the U.S. will begin enforcing a unilaterally declared worldwide sanction on any and all Iranian oil sales.

US President Donald Trump has vetoed a resolution passed by both the Senate and the House of Representatives that sought to end US involvement with the Saudi-led war in Yemen. It is the second veto of his presidency.

"This resolution is an unnecessary, dangerous attempt to weaken my constitutional authorities, endangering the lives of American citizens and brave service members, both today and in the future," Trump said in a message to the Senate, informing them of the veto.

According to Trump, the US is "not engaged in hostilities in or affecting Yemen," with the exception of "counterterrorism operations against [Al-Qaeda] in the Arabian Peninsula and ISIS." Nor are any US military personnel "commanding, participating in, or accompanying" forces of the Saudi-led coalition operating in Yemen, he said.

The US does provide "limited support" to the coalition, including "including intelligence sharing, logistics support, and, until recently, in-flight refueling" of aircraft, but that is consistent with statutory authority given to the Pentagon and presidential powers as commander in chief, Trump said.

Trump added the resolution would hurt US "bilateral relationships," counter-terrorism operations against Al-Qaeda and Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS), "negatively affect our ongoing efforts to prevent civilian casualties" and "embolden Iran's malign activities in Yemen."

The Trump administration has released a controversial new US government map of Israel that shows the Golan Heights in Syria as being part of Israel, much to the outrage of many online.

Special envoy to the Middle East, Jason Greenblatt, shared the updated map on Twitter on Tuesday. Israel occupied the Syrian region in the 1967 Six Day War and later annexed it in 1981 in a move that was not recognized by the international community or the UN Security Council.
