Analyzing Putin's new Mediterranean strategy

While attention has been focused in recent weeks on the role of Russia and President Vladimir Putin in brokering a new ceasefire in eastern Ukraine, the Russian president has made time for two crucial state missions—one to Cyprus and one to Egypt. What they both share in common is a border on the shore of the eastern Mediterranean Sea, a strategic body of water whose importance in the escalating NATO confrontation with Russia cannot be underestimated.

For more than 2000 years the Mediterranean Sea has been one of the world's most strategic waters. It joins Middle East oil and gas with markets in the European Union. It joins Indian Ocean shipping, increasingly from China, India, South Korea and the rest of Asia to European markets and to the Atlantic Ocean through the Egyptian Suez Canal. It joins the vital Russian Black Sea Fleet naval base in Crimea to both the Atlantic and Indian Ocean. In brief it connects Europe, Eurasia and Africa.

With this in mind, let's look at Putin's most recent travels.

Comment: While the West flails its arms trying to bring down Putin, he is going around gaining allies by the day with smart, calculated decisions that positively affect not just the rich but also a country's whole population. It's not hard to think that that is one of the reasons the Western Empire so desires to remove him from power. They don't like any world leader doing good deeds for the people of the world.

Suspected communist militants have taken a chief prosecutor hostage in Istanbul as revenge for the death of a teenage boy hit by a tear gas cannister during anti-government protests.

Men believed to be members of the banned Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C) posted pictures on social media of a gun being held to Mehmet Selim Kiraz's head, threatening to shoot him unless authorities meet their demands.

The group's flag could be seen in the background as Mr Kiraz was held gagged and with his hands tied in front of him.

According to a statement released on halkinsesi.tv, the militants gave authorities until 3.36 pm local time (1.36pm BST) to meet their demands - three hours after they stormed the court building.

Speaking to the Hürriyet Daily News, Deputy Chief Prosecutor Vedat Yiğit said negotiations between militants and police "continue via a mediator that they picked".

"Our negotiators and Umit Kocasakal, the head of the Istanbul Bar Association, are talking to the militants," Istanbul Police Chief Selami Altunok said.

"We are trying to resolve the issue without anyone being hurt."


Comment: This 'Marxist-Leninist People's Liberation Party/Front' (DHKP-C) has been accused of being one of the many faces of the Ergenekon network in Turkey, which is effectively NATO's stay-behind deep state Gladio structure in Turkey. The accusations are not without foundation...
DHKP-C shoots member who planned to reveal group's ties to Ergenekon

A terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) member has confessed to police to having shot Asuman akça, a former member of the far-left Revolutionary People's Liberation Party/Front (DHKP/C), just as she was planning to reveal the group's ties to the Ergenekon terrorist organization.

Akça was shot in the head in her Istanbul home on Oct. 24. She is currently undergoing medical treatment, and doctors say she is in critical condition. S.A. was captured by İstanbul police on Oct. 28 on suspicion of being connected to the attack. The man declined to reveal the purpose of the attack at first, but he recently told the police that he was ordered to assassinate Akça as she had plans to make public the ties between the DHKP/C and Ergenekon.

Ergenekon is a shadowy network nested within the state bureaucracy which is believed to be behind a large number of assassinations and other activities which the group hoped would eventually lead to the overthrow of the government.
Like all such networks, it's not so much that their aim is to overthrow the governments of NATO member-states, but rather to ensure that their governments toe the party line (ie, Washington's line).

Greece's Prime Minister hopes for 'true reset' with forthcoming visit to Russia

Greece's Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras hopes his forthcoming visit to Russia will help boost trade and economic links hit by the EU sanctions against Moscow and the Kremlin's ban on food imports from the Union.

Greece doesn't support the sanctions against Russia as they are a "road to nowhere," Tsipras said in an exclusive interview for Russia's TASS news agency published on Tuesday.

The visit to Moscow due on April 8 is expected to give a fresh impetus to the Russian-Greek relations, Tsipras said.

"This is a possibility for their true reset," he said.

Tsipras singled out energy, trade, agriculture and tourism as the key areas offering opportunities for boosting bilateral relationship.

He went on to say the Russian ban on imports of agricultural produce from the EU has dealt a heavy blow to Greek farmers, inflicting a serious damage to the Greek economy.

"We are in a geopolitical environment of special tensions and have common challenges, and we need to look at how we treat them," the Greek Prime Minister said.

"The new European security architecture must include Russia," he said.

U.S. 'emergency broadcast alert' confuses TV viewers nationwide

The residents of about a dozen US states received a scare when an ominous message rolled across their TV screens announcing an 'emergency alert' with the names of their states - without any explanation or further information.

A test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) began shortly before noon on Monday and was seen by millions of television viewers in Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Washington, DC, Infowars reported.

EAS is a special department run by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and the National Weather Service (NOAA/NWS).

The alert interrupted regularly scheduled television programs for 10 minutes with a listing of affected states and an announcement that the alert would remain in effect until midnight.

War on Yemen: US Imprimatur, Proxy Lies and an Impotent Body

There is a perfect reason why United Nations officials and Western diplomats are fleeing Yemen. They are complicit in Saudi war crimes.
Thanks to their all-out support for the illegal invasion, calls for peace and diplomacy continue to fall on deaf ears as the medieval Saudi regime and its US-allied cohorts continue to unravel Yemen.

The United Nations or the so-called international community should hang their heads in shame. They have all largely pontificated over a non-existent Iran-Saudi proxy war at play in the impoverished nation. Reports from the ground highlight the deepening crisis for the country's 26 million residents, largely forgotten and caught in the cross-chairs of an unnecessary war.

We used to think that presidents are elected for one purpose only: To serve their nation. In Yemen it's the other way around. They are "chosen" to serve their foreign masters and launch war against their own people. Former president Abd-Rabbo Mansour Hadi - elected in a single-candidate system with "no" votes allowed - is such a politician. The Saudi puppet is the one that called for this nascent war after he resigned and fled the country!

Comment: This has been ongoing, for some time. It's similar to the U.S. bringing up North Korea as a great evil when it's convenient for them to do so, to distract people from what's going on elsewhere. For example, it could be said that since the war in the Ukraine is becoming unpopular to Western nations, distracting those nations peoples with this ongoing war, will help them forget the United States and its allies are supporting Nazi's in Ukraine.

A responsible financial institution would not extend a new loan of between 17 and 40 billion dollars to a borrower already struggling to pay back an existing multi-billion dollar loan. Yet that is just what the International Monetary Fund (IMF) did last month when it extended a new loan to the government of Ukraine. This new loan may not make much economic sense, but propping up the existing Ukrainian government serves the foreign policy agenda of the US government.

Since the IMF receives most of its funding from the United States, it is hardly surprising that it would tailor its actions to advance the US government's foreign policy goals. The IMF also has a history of using the funds provided to it by the American taxpayer to prop up dictatorial regimes and support unsound economic policies.

Comment: It seems only the destruction of the world will bring an end to the feeding piranhas of world banks.

Yemeni Army, Ansarullah Reinforcing Buildup in Aden

More backup forces and equipment have been sent to Aden to help the army and Ansarullah in the war against the forces loyal to Saudi-backed fugitive President Mansour Hadi after Ansarullah conquered most parts of the city yesterday.
The military sources announced that backup forces have been sent from Al-Elm region to Al-Arish and then to the surrounding areas of Aden International Airport, Aden Al-Qad news website reported.

The Yemeni forces, backed by Ansarullah fighters, are on the verge of milestone victory by seizing control of the city of Aden in the South.

Fierce clashes are currently underway in Aden and the Army and revolutionary forces have managed to take control of many districts in the city, Al-Massa Press reported.

The Ansarullah forces have just regained control of the city of Taez, Yemen's third largest city in the North of Aden a few hours ago.

Aden is seen as the main stronghold of forces loyal to the ousted president, Mansour Hadi, as well as terrorist troops.

Friends of Germanwings crash pilot say he is being framed by Lufthansa to cover-up mechanical failings

Andreas Lubitz - framed?
Friends of killer pilot Andreas Lubitz claim he is being framed for murder as part of an elaborate cover-up by his airline company to hide mechanical faults with the plane.

They have set up a Facebook page titled 'Andreas Lubitz A320, we are against the hunt' where they have been sharing their theories about the cause of the Alps disaster.

Some suggest the black box voice recorder had been tampered with by Germanwings parent company, Lufthansa, to make it appear as if Lubitz had deliberately crashed the plane.

From found to damaged to lost: Lufthansa now says flight data recorder on Germanwings Flight 9525 'may never be found'

This is the first 'black box', the cockpit data recorder, from Germanwings Flight 9525. The second 'black box', the flight data recorder was earlier reported found but with its memory card missing... and now 'will probably never be found. Ever.'
Germany's national airline Lufthansa says that the flight data recorder which could provide key evidence about the causes of the Germanwings plane crash last Tuesday may never be found.

Speaking on Gunter Jauch, a popular Sunday night talk show, the Lufthansa manager Kay Kratky said "it could be that the damage was so serious that it [the flight data recorder] is sending no signal."

While the first black box, which contains audio recording from the cockpit was recovered soon after search and rescue teams arrived at the crash site, the second black box's whereabouts have remained elusive.

The plane is reckoned to have hit the crash site in the French Alps at a speed in the region of 800 kph, causing the plane to fragment and scatter over a wide area.

Comment: On March 25th, The New York Times reported that:
At the crash site, a senior official working on the investigation said, workers found the casing of the plane's other so-called black box, the flight data recorder, but the memory card containing data on the plane's altitude, speed, location and condition was not inside, apparently having been thrown loose or destroyed by the impact.
And yet, 5 days later, Lufthansa says it will never be found?

What is war good for? Yemen refugee camp hit by airstrike

45 people were killed and another 65 injured in an airstrike by a Saudi-led coalition at a refugee camp in Houthi-controlled northern Yemen on Monday, the International Organization for Migration (IMO) said.

The bombardment took place in the vicinity of the Mazraq refugee camp, Joel Millman, IMO spokesman told Reuters, citing the organization's staff on the ground.

It was not immediately clear how many of the casualties were civilians and how many were armed personnel, he added.

Comment: The only clear goal of this war is control of the oil flow and big money.
