Puppet Masters
"Mr. Trump bizarrely devotes the FIRST paragraph of his shameful statement on Saudi atrocities to accuse IRAN of every sort of malfeasance he can think of. Perhaps we're also responsible for the California fires, because we didn't help rake the forests - just like the Finns do?" Zarif tweeted on Tuesday.
The Washington Post columnist is heard demanding to be freed: "Release my arm! What do you think you are doing?"
Habertürk newspaper, citing security sources, released the gruesome quotes on Monday.
In a statement released Tuesday, Donald Trump said that Khashoggi's murder was an "unacceptable and horrible crime," and that as American intelligence agencies continue to investigate the case, "it could very well be that the Crown Prince had knowledge of this tragic event."
Trump went no further with that train of thought, and instead reaffirmed the strategic alliance between the US and Saudi Arabia. The Kingdom, he wrote, is an important ally against Iran and a vital supplier of oil.
The president again touted the importance of maintaining the US' $110 billion arms deal with the Saudi government, which he said means "tremendous economic development" for the US.
Comment: If Trump wants to "consider" what to do, perhaps he might want to look at what is reportedly the chilling last words during and after Khashoggi's interrogation and torture, revealed by a Turkish newspaper:
Release my arm! What do you think you are doing? In the second part of the recording, Mutreb calls Khashoggi, who was taken into the consulate's B unit, a "traitor."
Traitor! You will be brought to account!Another voice is heard in the recording. It belongs to 57-year-old Saudi engineer Mustafa al-Madaini who posed as Khashoggi's lookalike:
It is spooky to wear the clothes of a man whom we killed 20 minutes ago.Trump's full statement, as published on the White House website, and which can be summarized as 'Iran is evil, but Saudi Arabia has cash and oil!':
America First!
The world is a very dangerous place!
The country of Iran, as an example, is responsible for a bloody proxy war against Saudi Arabia in Yemen, trying to destabilize Iraq's fragile attempt at democracy, supporting the terror group Hezbollah in Lebanon, propping up dictator Bashar Assad in Syria (who has killed millions of his own citizens), and much more. Likewise, the Iranians have killed many Americans and other innocent people throughout the Middle East. Iran states openly, and with great force, "Death to America!" and "Death to Israel!" Iran is considered "the world's leading sponsor of terror."
On the other hand, Saudi Arabia would gladly withdraw from Yemen if the Iranians would agree to leave. They would immediately provide desperately needed humanitarian assistance. Additionally, Saudi Arabia has agreed to spend billions of dollars in leading the fight against Radical Islamic Terrorism.
After my heavily negotiated trip to Saudi Arabia last year, the Kingdom agreed to spend and invest $450 billion in the United States. This is a record amount of money. It will create hundreds of thousands of jobs, tremendous economic development, and much additional wealth for the United States. Of the $450 billion, $110 billion will be spent on the purchase of military equipment from Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and many other great U.S. defense contractors. If we foolishly cancel these contracts, Russia and China would be the enormous beneficiaries - and very happy to acquire all of this newfound business. It would be a wonderful gift to them directly from the United States!
The crime against Jamal Khashoggi was a terrible one, and one that our country does not condone. Indeed, we have taken strong action against those already known to have participated in the murder. After great independent research, we now know many details of this horrible crime. We have already sanctioned 17 Saudis known to have been involved in the murder of Mr. Khashoggi, and the disposal of his body.
Representatives of Saudi Arabia say that Jamal Khashoggi was an "enemy of the state" and a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, but my decision is in no way based on that - this is an unacceptable and horrible crime. King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman vigorously deny any knowledge of the planning or execution of the murder of Mr. Khashoggi. Our intelligence agencies continue to assess all information, but it could very well be that the Crown Prince had knowledge of this tragic event - maybe he did and maybe he didn't!
That being said, we may never know all of the facts surrounding the murder of Mr. Jamal Khashoggi. In any case, our relationship is with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They have been a great ally in our very important fight against Iran. The United States intends to remain a steadfast partner of Saudi Arabia to ensure the interests of our country, Israel and all other partners in the region. It is our paramount goal to fully eliminate the threat of terrorism throughout the world!
I understand there are members of Congress who, for political or other reasons, would like to go in a different direction - and they are free to do so. I will consider whatever ideas are presented to me, but only if they are consistent with the absolute security and safety of America. After the United States, Saudi Arabia is the largest oil producing nation in the world. They have worked closely with us and have been very responsive to my requests to keeping oil prices at reasonable levels - so important for the world. As President of the United States I intend to ensure that, in a very dangerous world, America is pursuing its national interests and vigorously contesting countries that wish to do us harm. Very simply it is called America First!
Meet People's Mujahedin of Iran, also known as the MEK, whose recent gatherings were graced by the likes of Donald Trump's National Security Advisor John Bolton and the US president's lawyer Rudy Giuliani. Quite a guest list for an organization that started as an Iranian Marxist-Leninist armed group trying to oust the US-backed shah along with the Ayatollah.
After falling out with the new government in Iran, the MEK started a campaign of bombing and assassinations of loyalist officials. Then they got kicked out of the country and found refuge in Saddam Hussein's Iraq. During the war between the two countries, they fought against their own countrymen. More recently, MEK members were helping Israeli intelligence assassinate Iranian nuclear scientists. So, you may guess how big of a supporter base they have in Iran now.

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, a former skeptic toward President Donald Trump who in recent months has become one of his fiercest supporters, has publicly stated his interest in becoming Judiciary Committee chairman in the event of a vacancy.
Meadows, who is chairman of the House Oversight Subcommittee on Government Operations, told Hill.TV's Rising that it's time to "circle back" to U.S. Attorney General John Huber's investigation with the Justice Department into whether the Clinton Foundation engaged any improper activities.
"Mr. [John] Huber with the Department of Justice and the FBI has been having an investigation - at least part of his task was to look at the Clinton Foundation and what may or may not have happened as it relates to improper activity with that charitable foundation, so we've set a hearing date for December the 5th," he told Hill.TV during an interview on Wednesday.
NATO fighter jets and surveillance aircraft landed and took off from the airport in Rovaniemi during that training event. In his weekly interview with the national public broadcasting company YLE Radio Suomi, the PM said the electronic interference was "almost certainly deliberate."
He thinks it is quite likely that Russia was behind the episode, which jeopardized civil aviation in addition to other concerns. An experienced pilot himself, Sipila said that the incident would be treated as a breach of Finnish airspace. Finland has launched an investigation into the matter. Foreign Minister Timo Soini has promised to provide a report to parliament about the alleged Russian jamming.
A number of things have happened in the past few days which pushed Mr. Browder's future into uncertainty. The first occurred on September 30th when the Chinese President of Interpol Meng Hongwei was recalled to China on unspecified corruption charges.
Now that his formal resignation letter has been received by Interpol, the most likely person to replace Meng is Russian Interior Ministry official Alexander Prokopchuk. And Mr. Prokopchuk is no fan of Mr. Browder.
Comment: And Western powers are predictably going nuts about it: US senators rally against Russian Interpol head candidate, Moscow calls it 'intervention,' MSM hysterical
On the heels of this news Russia has now opened up multiple new lawsuits against Browder (who they convicted in absentia last year to nine years in prison for tax evasion) citing him as the creator and coordinator of a criminal conspiracy.
Comment: The screws are being turned on Browder, and probably only by Russia, but the likelihood of him seeing the inside of a prison cell is as likely as Hillary doing so (highly unlikely). Bill Browder is a 'made man', protected at the very highest levels.

Yemen is a strategically key geopolitical stretch of land at the critical connecting point of the Red Sea which links to the Mediterranean via the Suez Canal and the Indian Ocean. It's the site of one of the world's most strategic shipping choke points, the Bab el Mandab, a narrow passage a mere 18 miles distance from Djibouti in the Horn of Africa, making it one of the US Department of Energy's Oil Transit Chokepoints. According to the US Department of Energy an estimated 4.7 million barrels of oil passes through Bab el Mandab in both directions daily, including oil bound for China.
Many of the groups are registered with the Internal Revenue Service for tax purposes as 501(c)3 "educational" or "charitable" foundations, which enables them to solicit tax exempt donations. One might dispute whether promoting Israeli interests in the United States is actually educational, but as of right now the Department of the Treasury believes it can be so construed, protected by the First Amendment.
But there is a more serious consideration in terms of the actual relationships that many of the groups enjoy with the Israeli government. To be sure, many of them boast on their promotional literature and websites about their relationships with the Benjamin Netanyahu and his cabinet, so the issue of dual loyalty or, worse, acting as actual Israeli government agents must be considered.
