The Amnesty International office in Bangalore. India’s enforcement directorate claims the charity has received £3.8m of foreign funding without permission.
Amnesty International has condemned what it described as an "assault on civil society" in India after its office in the south of the country was raided by tax authorities.

Amnesty India's bank accounts have been frozen after tax investigators spent more than 10 hours searching the Bangalore headquarters of the London-based organisation on Thursday.

Staff were ordered to remain in the office, shut their laptops and not use their mobile phones during the search, an Amnesty statement said.

Europe's 'secret' nukes: NATO, not Russia, is - and has always been - in flagrant violation of anti-missile treaties

volkel air base nukes netherlands

At least 22 American nukes are stored at Volkel Air Base in the Netherlands, a fact exposed by a former Dutch PM in 2013.
Is Italy capable of delivering a thermonuclear strike? Could the Belgians and the Dutch drop hydrogen bombs on enemy targets? And what about Germany - a country where fear of atomkraft is so great that the last government opposed all civilian nuclear power? Germany's air force couldn't possibly be training to deliver bombs 13 times more powerful than the one that destroyed Hiroshima, could it?

It is Europe's dirty secret that the list of nuclear-capable countries extends beyond those that have built their own weapons - Britain, France and Russia. The truth is that Belgium, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands store nuclear bombs on their air-force bases and have planes capable of delivering them. There are an estimated 200 B-61 thermonuclear-gravity bombs scattered across these four countries. Under a NATO agreement struck during the Cold War, the bombs, which are owned by the U.S., can be transferred to the control of a host nation's air force in time of conflict. Twenty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Dutch, Belgian, Italian and German pilots remain ready to engage in nuclear war.

Comment: Note that this article predates the current anti-Russia hysteria; it was published during the last years of the 'limbo period' in which Russia was not - temporarily, as it turns out - The Enemy. Politicians across Europe were calling for the removal of American nukes from airbases because they were 'pointless'. But now that "the Cold War playbook has been dusted off," the media reports - matter-of-factly - that both the nukes and European purchases of American F-35s - which are apparently uniquely capable of launching said American nukes - are "necessary" because "Russia annexed Crimea, hacked our elections, made us do bad things, and ate our homework."

Comment: You won't find a Time article today calling time on America's Cold War arsenals in Europe.

The article refers to a key aspect of European countries' vassal status: the 'interoperability' of weapons and military equipment it uses, which, as the US DoD bureaucrat cited above pointed out, is ultimately what keeps Europe politically-aligned with Washington.

The key question for Europe is what will Germany do? Currently, it is trying to get comfortable sitting on the fence, requesting American permission to equip its Eurofighter for carry American nukes...

Democratic Mail-bombs: Raising a False-flag

The envelope bombs sent to select Democrats are an obvious false flag.

Aside from their propaganda megaphone, CNN, everyone who received a package deserves prison time. Brennan, Hillary, Obama, Holder, etc, all are searching for sympathy because they know they are guilty of high treason.

The Deep State is pulling out all stops to gain sympathy and votes for their team. This is a pathetic means of doing it. The envelopes didn't seem to have postmarks. If they were hand-delivered, then there should be video of the perpetrators. Especially on Hillary's property. She has more video surveillance than a drug lord.

The bombs came with digital clocks serving as timed detonation devices that make no sense. The clocks had no countdown function and were added as "bomb props".

Germany now admits it needs a heck of a lot more from Russia than Nordstream 2

Nord Stream 2
During the years the U.S. and its satraps in Poland and the Baltics fought the Nordstream 2 pipeline it was always apparent Germany was in the driver's seat. It was also apparent that this would be the wedge issue that would ultimately force Germany to pursue independent policy from the U.S.

Nordstream 2 is and was always a reaction to the U.S.'s meddling in Europe's energy policy which this cycle of began with the scuttling of the South Stream pipeline in 2013.

From the EU's perspective changing the rules under which South Stream would operate after the contracts for it were signed was a way of gaining leverage over Russia and Gazprom. So too was the help protesters in Kiev received to overthrow the Yanukovich government from the U.S. and the EU.

That operation was meant to put the Ukrainian pipelines under EU control where they could dictate terms to Gazprom and choke the profit out of its gas deliveries. It would also advance NATO and the EU to Russia's western border and there was to be nothing Putin could do to stop the U.S. from putting nukes targeting Moscow there.

Too bad for them it didn't work out that way.

Hardcore neocon think-tank is 'scrubbing the internet of fringe views' via Facebook

facebook censorship
A sweeping purge in which numerous alternative media pages were cleansed from Facebook and Twitter has actually been driven by a figurehead of a hardline neocon think-tank, investigative journalist Max Blumenthal told RT.

"What we saw taking place since the defeat of Hillary Clinton and the victory of Donald Trump is an effort to identify not just Russian-backed media but alternative media as part of the 'Russian influence campaign'," Blumenthal said.

The crackdown on alternative voices spearheaded by Facebook and Twitter are obviously connected to "national security hardliners, funded by Western governments," he said.

Blumenthal's recent piece suggested that a senior fellow at the German Marshall Fund, a leading think-tank believed to be funded by the US and NATO, partially claimed credit for silencing political speech on social media platforms. "Russia, China, and other foreign states take advantage of our open political system," Jamie Fly allegedly told Jeb Sprague, a visiting faculty member in sociology at the University of California-Santa Barbara.

Comment: And then there's the Atlantic Council (also a creature of NATO's) - playing much the same role in ordering censorship as the German Marshall Fund:

Soros-funded university for US programs 'forced out' of Hungary, moving to Vienna

The George Soros-funded Central European University is set to flee Budapest for Vienna in the latest round of a long-running ideological battle between the billionaire media magnate and Viktor Orban's conservative government.

CEU, which had previously pledged to remain operational in Budapest, is set to open a new Vienna campus which will offer US-accredited degrees from 2019, claiming a new law prevents it from doing so in Hungary.

Hungarian-born Soros has been a vocal critic of Orban's government, accusing him of leading an "unrelenting propaganda campaign" against him and turning Hungary into a "mafia state". Orban, in turn, has accused Soros of supporting "everything that changes the traditional European lifestyle" over his support for immigration.

Comment: The Guardian adds:
The move will dismay Orbán's supporters in Brussels and the US administration. Orbán's partners in the European parliament, the European People's party (EPP), have largely remained silent over allegations of corruption, a crackdown on free media and rule of law issues in Hungary. However, EPP leaders have repeatedly suggested that closing CEU could be a red line.

The US ambassador to Hungary, David Cornstein, a longtime friend of Donald Trump, has made securing a deal on CEU one of his top priorities since arriving in Hungary in the summer. Although Trump has also disparaged Soros, Cornstein said during his Senate confirmation hearings that he understood how important the university was to both Democrats and Republicans.

"Of my first 100 days, I have spent more time on Central University [sic] than on any other subject," he said in a speech at CEU this month. "Right after I unpacked my bags and found out where the office was, the next stop I made was right here at the university. That was to show how important this subject was, not just to the American ambassador but to the American people as well."

Although he repeatedly misstated the name of the university, he said he had raised the issue during a meeting with Orbán, and planned to facilitate meetings between the Hungarian government and the university with the aim of resolving the issue. It now appears those meetings were fruitless.

Orbán's office released a statement denouncing the CEU decision, suggesting it was simply a means of attracting attention.

"The announcement by the CEU is a Soros-style political ploy. Up to now Central European University has operated here, it does so now, and we think that it will continue to do so in the future ... The Hungarian government does not concern itself with Soros's political ploys."

There was no comment about whether the government would sign the agreement that would allow the university to remain in Budapest and issue US-accredited degrees.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino with Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman at the World Cup in Russia.
FIFA says funds for planned new tournaments will not come from Saudi government sources, amid increased scrutiny of the kingdom over the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi at its consulate in Istanbul, Turkey.

World football's governing body is seeking to raise funds for two new tournaments, including a controversial expanded Club World Cup, with speculation that the money could come from Saudi state sources.

FIFA made an apparent attempt to assuage concerns as its council meets on Thursday and Friday in Kigali, Rwanda, issuing a statement to members on funding that was seen by the AP.

FIFA would not enter into a joint venture for this purpose [to fund new tournaments], whether directly or indirectly, with sovereign wealth funds of individual states," the document stated.

Several hundred troops are being sent to beef up security at the US' southern border with Mexico, the Department of Defense said. It comes as a caravan of several thousand migrants makes it way north through Mexico.

Defense Secretary James Mattis is expected to sign an order sending at least 800 troops to the border in anticipation of the caravan's arrival, a government source told AP.

The news seems to deliver on President Trump's repeated warnings that he would deploy the military to the border in some capacity, if Mexican authorities did not do enough to halt the caravan's advance.

Comment: Not everyone in the path of the caravan is happy either.

Migrant caravan
The Venezuelan leader has lashed out at US Vice-President Mike Pence, labeling him "extremist," and dismissed "laughable" allegations that Caracas is funding the migrant caravan heading to the US from Honduras.

President Nicolas Maduro appeared incensed by Pence's accusation that the Venezuelan government is backing hundreds of mostly Latin American migrants who are seeking to enter the US through the Mexican border.

In a speech broadcast on state TV on Wednesday, Maduro said that Pence is playing a familiar card by accusing him "of everything that happens to them."

UK Home Secretary apologizes for 'illegally' forcing DNA tests on migrants

Home Secretary Sajid Javid has admitted that Afghan and Gurkha families - some of whom were relatives of British soldiers - were wrongly ordered to provide DNA tests or be refused permission to the settle in the UK.

Javid admitted that 130 people were forced to give DNA samples. The cohort includes Afghan translators who worked with British troops during their invasion of their country, as well as 51 children of Gurkhas, who fought with the UK military.

The demands for the test were contained in letters sent to foreign-born parents of British children who were seeking to stay in the country.
