New normal: Amazon unveils an augmented reality to enforce corporate America's social distancing

Amazon warehouse

Amazon demonstrating its new augmented reality-based technology for use in its warehouses. Now workers are really the robots.
Should you be one of the dozens of people working minimum ten-hour shifts at Amazon's fulfillment center in Kent, Washington these days, you might very well be at the vanguard of the "new normal" for American blue collar workplaces.

The 1 million-square-foot facility located about 20 miles south of Seattle is the site of a new wearable technology device to enforce prescribed COVID-19 social distancing rules. As described, the device itself doesn't exactly seem to be state-of-the-art. A "clear plastic sleeve" with an LED light and a small audio system will alert warehouse personnel if they are too close for coronavirus comfort.

The idea is to startle workers who may inadvertently (or purposely) violate social distancing rules with flashing lights and digital alarm bells to elicit a Pavlovian response from them. The rationale, of course, is to prevent the spread of COVID-19. But, there is more just day-to-day workplace safety involved in this Orwellian application of technology straight out of Fritz Lang's Metropolis.

More UK Covid 'experts' under fire for serious data manipulation charges

Professor Peter Horby
The Government's leading body for Covid19 drug trials - led by the controversial character Professor Peter Horby - stands accused of grossly misleading negative trial results for the coronavirus management drug Hydroxychloroquine. Will this at last be a wake-up call for Boris Johnson?

The lead story in today's France Soir - a long-respected and unaligned French online daily - presents compelling evidence to suggest that the Whitehall/Cabinet Covid19 "advice" team cannot be trusted....and raises yet more doubts about BBC complicity in a false Coronavirus narrative.

Last May 10th, The Slog wrote a scathing critique of the interview given by 'Recovery' boss Professor Peter Horby on the Marr Show. Subsequent events would appear to be proving my analysis correct.

Professor Peter Horby is an epidemiologist, and the Professor of Emerging Infectious Diseases and Global Health at the University of Oxford. He chairs the UK government's New and Emerging Respiratory Virus Threats Advisory Group (NERVTAG). In addition, seven weeks ago he was charged with leading the 'Recovery' trial team into drugs for COVID-19.

Trump suggests legislation that would jail people who burn the flag for a year

Donald Trump
President Trump suggested at his campaign rally in Tulsa, Okla., on Saturday that legislation be proposed to require a minimum sentence of a year for anyone who burns the American flag.

"We ought to come up with legislation that if you burn the American flag you go to jail for one year," Trump said, pointing to Oklahoma Republican Senators Jim Inhofe and James Lankford in the crowd.

"We oughta do it. We talk about freedom of speech... but that's desecration."

Burning the American flag is not illegal.

Pompeo says UN Human Rights Council hits 'new low' with anti-US resolution on race, police

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Saturday criticized the U.N. Human Rights Council, after the controversial organization passed a resolution criticizing the state of policing and race in the U.S. -- even as it is accused of ignoring egregious human rights violations from those on the council itself.

"The United Nations Human Rights Council, now comprised of Venezuela and recently, Cuba and China, has long been and remains a haven for dictators and democracies that indulge them," Pompeo said in a statement. "It is a grave disappointment to those genuinely seeking to advance human dignity. Even so, the Council's decision to vote yesterday on a resolution focusing on policing and race in the United States marks a new low."

The Council, which the U.S. left in 2018 over concerns over both its membership and its anti-Israel bias, passed by unanimous consent on Friday a resolution on the "promotion and protection of the human rights and fundamental freedoms of Africans and of people of African descent against police brutality and other violations of human rights."

Comment: The US has for decades used the UN as a platform to denounce manufactured crises in many countries (created by its own hand) for political leverage and global hegemony. It's not surprising that other countries are now using the US' own manufactured crisis against itself.

New Hezbollah video threatens to pound Israeli sites with guided missiles in response to attack

The Iranian-backed militant group last clashed with Israeli forces in September 2019 following a retaliatory strike in northern Israel. Hezbollah has repeatedly warned that it is ready for a war with Israel but does not seek one.

Hezbollah has threatened to bomb Israel with pinpoint accuracy using precision-guided missiles.

A video released by the Lebanese militant group appears to show the coordinates of sensitive sites in Israel and the Palestinian territories that could be targeted in the event of an attack.

It features a voice-over provided by Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, saying that the group is able to bomb "very specific targets in Tel Aviv and also anywhere in the occupied Palestine".

The 39-second clip ends with shots of missile launchers emerging from beneath the ground. A caption in Hebrew and Arabic reads, "Whatever you do to block the way — it's over, done and completed", as translated by The Times of Israel.

Israel plans to annex 30% more land of Palestinian State

Palestinian children
Israel's annexation is the final nail in the coffin for the peace process or any prospect of a Palestinian state.

The territory is a fertile strip of land, home to 65,000 Palestinians and 11,000 settlers and it constitutes half of the agricultural land providing food security to Palestinians

Israel plans to annex 30% more land of Palestinian State. The annexation of the West Bank by the Israeli occupation is not only another blow to the peace process. Rather, it is the announcement of elimination of peace process by Israel. It surely reflects that there is hardly any chance for a Palestinian state.

The proposed Israeli-American plan would annex around 30% of the occupied West Bank on July 1st. It includes the Jordan Valley and the Jewish settlements in the West bank. These settlements are fundamentally illegal as it violates the Fourth Geneva Convention.

The plan also comes in accordance with US president Donald Trump's 'Deal of the Century." Palestinians strongly oppose it since its revelation to the international community in late January.

5 facts BBC fantasy series "The Salisbury Poisonings" forgot to mention

BBC tv series Salisbury Poisoning

Still from the BBC series "The Salisbury Poisonings"
The BBC's new drama The Salisbury Poisonings concluded over the weekend. A three-part story "based on actual events", claiming to tell the story of the alleged poisoning of Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury in 2018.

It's exactly what you'd expect. Schlocky tat. Poorly researched, badly written and woefully factually inaccurate.

The Guardian gave it four stars. Because of course they did. Because when you're dealing with government-backed narrative everything that reinforces it must be described as having value. It's one of the hallmarks of propaganda, that no story which supports the propaganda - however ridiculous - can ever be questioned, criticised or disputed.

There's room for an in-depth review, and indeed Craig Murray has done a fine job deconstructing the series. But here, I just want to focus on everything they don't tell you.

Here are five key facts the BBC simply forgot to mention.

Netanyahu threatens Israelis with more lockdown if they don't wear masks and social-distance

Israel joined most of the rest of the world in instituting tough COVID-19-related lockdowns earlier this year, reporting about 20,700 cases and 305 deaths among its population of 8.9 million. Starting in late April, the country began a gradual reopening of stores, schools, and public areas. However, authorities have now warned of a 'second wave'.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has urged his countrymen and women to stick to guidelines aimed at slowing the spread of the coronavirus, saying the government will reinstitute lockdown measures if citizens fail to do so.

"If the public does not stick to wearing masks and social distancing, we will be bringing back a full closure," Netanyahu warned, speaking at a cabinet meeting on Sunday.

"This morning, I asked for a meeting with the director generals of the relevant ministries, heads of local governments, head of the national security council and various experts who gave their assessments. They gave me different forecasts...but these forecasts are all tough. We must flatten the curve now," Netanyahu added.

DOJ slams Gleeson in filing: FBI knew before interviewing Flynn he wasn't a Russian agent

Michael Flynn, Emmett G. Sullivan, John Gleeson, Sidney Powell
Department of Justice prosecutors submitted a filing Wednesday to U.S. District Judge Emmett G. Sullivan in Washington, arguing against an amicus submitted by former U.S. District Judge John Gleeson to examine the Justice Department's conduct in the case, stressing that the evidence uncovered in former national security advisor Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn's case reveals serious concerns with the FBI's conduct in his investigation.

Flynn, who served a short stint as President Donald Trump's national security advisor before the bureau's investigation led to his firing, has been battling the charges against him for years and withdrew his guilty plea early this year.

Flynn's defense attorney Sidney Powell also submitted a scathing response to the court Wednesday against Gleeson's amicus. She pointed out in her motion of opposition that Gleeson's amicus filing on behalf of Sullivan was nothing more than a "wrap-up smear" against her client.

Nuland's cookies again: Maidan midwife's plan for US policy on Russia is dumb, delusional, dangerous

Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland (C) and Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt (L) distribute pastries at Independence square in Kiev, December 11, 2013
Victoria Nuland, the infamous State Department diplomat who "midwifed" Ukraine's 2014 coup, has outlined a Russia strategy for the Biden administration. It is based on fantasies and projection, offering nothing of value to anyone.

You may remember 'Tori' Nuland from the so-called "revolution of dignity" in Ukraine, in particular the publicity stunt in which she doled out pastries to "peaceful protesters" on Kiev's Independence Square. Standing next to her was US Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt, who will be recorded some weeks later discussing with Nuland which protest leader will be allowed to form a government. Soon thereafter, the people they named led an armed coup against the government in Kiev and set up their own.

That was the zenith of her diplomatic career, however, as she resigned from the State Department after the inauguration of President Donald Trump and went into the private sector - currently working for Madeleine Albright's consultancy group in Washington. Now Nuland is making a comeback, with an article in the July-August edition of Foreign Affairs titled 'Pinning Down Putin.'

Comment: Nuland has some nerve taking Russia to task, when she was up to her eyeballs in Ukraine's corruption. She is now angling for a spot on Biden's "team" in the unlikely event he is elected. Perhaps she would be tasked with cleaning up Hunter's Ukraine mess?
