Why Iran's strike on Israel was much more successful than it seems

Tehran's retaliatory attack may not have caused much destruction, but it was far from a failure

On the night of April 14, Iran and its proxy forces launched a series of cruise missile and kamikaze drone strikes on Israeli territory. The attacks did not come as a surprise. Tehran had warned that it would respond to the Israeli airstrike on Iran's consulate in Damascus, Syria, on April 1, which killed several high-ranking officers of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), including two generals. The retaliatory strike was called Operation True Promise.

There is still much debate on whether Iran's retaliatory strike was successful. Most military experts agree that there was nothing unusual about Tehran's actions, except that this was Iran's first direct attack on Israel. From a technical point of view, the strategy was simple and correct: Iran first suppressed the enemy's air defense systems with drones and then launched hypersonic missiles which the Israelis and Americans were not able to intercept. Incidentally, in light of this, Ukraine's statements about shooting down Russian Kinzhal hypersonic missiles sound ridiculous.

The US has a new insidious plan for Venezuelan oil

Cancelling sanctions relief and kicking out everyone else looks like a setup for an arranged marriage with Western oil giants...

Six months ago, high oil prices in America amid Western sanctions against Russian oil and gas sent the Biden administration scrambling for more supply that it could control - and ideally profit from.

Washington couldn't influence Russia and Saudi-led OPEC, or relent on the ideologically-driven sanctions idiocy, but it could at least maybe dial up or down the supply to mitigate domestic political fallout of any resulting price increases. So the White House considered the cards it could play, and offered Venezuela a deal to lift the American boot off its neck. It's probably just a coincidence that the country happens to have the largest oil reserves on the planet - largely untapped.

There's also the added bonus of rapprochement to counter China and Russia's advances in Washington's backyard, or mitigating the influx of migrants from Venezuela to the US as a result of people fleeing a country struggling under a seemingly endless embargo.

No Plan B without US - Kiev

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba has said this was the message he relayed to American counterpart Antony Blinken...

Ukraine does not have a 'Plan B' for the conflict with Russia if the US Congress refuses to approve more military aid for Kiev, Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba has said.

The diplomat told Ukraine's Rada broadcaster on Thursday that this was the message he had impressed on US Secretary of State Antony Blinken earlier the same day, when the pair met on the sidelines of the G7 foreign ministers' summit on the Italian island of Capri.

The administration of US President Joe Biden has been unable to push another $60 billion in assistance for Kiev through Congress since the autumn, amid a bitter standoff between Democrats and Republicans over immigration and border security.

House Speaker Mike Johnson announced earlier this week that he will put a standalone Ukraine aid bill to a vote on Saturday, while Biden has promised to sign the legislation if it passes.

The president's latest blunder comes as a majority of Americans doubt his mental capacity for office

US President Joe Biden has implored his supporters to choose "freedom over democracy," in the latest of a long series of gaffes and verbal blunders. Conservative pundits have viewed the incident as more proof that the 81-year-old is unfit for office.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Thursday, Biden rattled off a string of buzzwords as he asked voters whether they would choose him over former President Donald Trump in November's presidential election.

"Are you ready to choose unity over division? Dignity over demolition? Truth over lies? Are you ready to choose freedom over democracy? Because that's America," he exclaimed.

1 dead, 8 injured after overnight explosions shake Iraqi military base

Overnight explosions at an Iraqi military base not far from the capital Baghdad on Saturday left one person dead and at least eight others with degrees of injuries, officials said.

The explosions occurred around 1 a.m. local time Saturday, killing and injuring members of an Iranian-backed Iraqi militia, the Popular Mobilization Forces.

"An explosion and fire occurred inside (Camp Kalsu) north of Babil Governorate on the international line, which includes the headquarters of the army, police, and Popular Mobilization Forces," Iraq's Security Media Cell said on X.

"A specialized higher technical committee from civil defense and other relevant groups was formed to determine the causes of the explosion and fires at the site and surroundings of the accident area."

Comment: The Daily Mail adds:
[...]

A military official, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the subject, said: 'The explosion hit equipment, weapons and vehicles.

'The were explosions in the warehouses storing equipment.

'A fire is still raging and the search for the injured is continuing.'

There were conflicting reports as to who was responsible for the strike with some reports blaming Israel while others claimed it was a US attack.

The strike is believed to have been retaliation for a drone strike in Jordan in which three US service members were killed.

Hashed al-Shaabi, an alliance of mainly Shiite armed groups formed to fight the Islamic State group, is now a part of Iraq's security forces.

Factions within the group took part in months of rocket and drone attacks on U.S. forces in Iraq amid Israel's Gaza campaign but ceased to do so in February.

The attack on the pro-Iranian paramilitaries comes amid spiralling regional tensions over the war between Israel and Tehran-backed Palestinian militants Hamas.

On Friday, strikes blamed on Israel targeted a military base near Isfahan in Iran.
Iraq has been demanding the U.S. leave the country for over a decade. So much for respecting sovereignty:

Best of the Web: Brigittegate: A Primer

brigitte macron trogneux
The greatest political con act of all time?
Given the fact that Candace Owens has received much outrage at her suggestion (and lost her job over the kerfuffle that followed) that Brigitte Macron, the wife of President Emanuel Macron, is in fact a man who transitioned into a "woman," it might serve our readers to understand the data behind Ms. Owens' assertion. The facts of this case are rather startling, to say the least. The video Ms. Owens linked has also long been scrubbed. Why, if it is all fake news?

So, here is a primer of the main arguments.

The questioning of Brigitte Macron's real sex began back in 2021, when the journal, Faits & Documents, published by Xavier Poussard, began a five-part series, entitled, "Le Mystère Brigitte Macron" ["The Mystery of Brigitte Macron"]. The investigation, which had taken three years, was done by Natacha Rey and then furthered by Mr. Poussard. By the end of 2021, there was a great buzz about all this in France.

The main arguments presented in the journal, with much documentary proof, may be summarized as follows:

1. Brigitte Macron was born a man and transitioned into a woman. There is a mysterious video from 1977, which shows a man shadowed out, calling himself "Veronique," who had begun to live as a woman. Documented analysis shows that Veronique's voice is remarkably like that of Mrs. Emmanuel Macron (to avoid confusion hereon in, we shall only use this designation).

2. This initial hint led to a fuller investigation into the background of Mrs. Macron, whose given name is "Brigitte," and whose family name is Trogneux; the family hails from the city of Amiens. What investigators found next was rather unexpected. There were two Trogneux children, a brother named Jean-Michel (born in 1945) and a sister named Brigitte (born in 1953). But this sister (Brigitte) supposedly died in 1961. And the photos of the sister, the late Brigitte, look nothing like the present Mrs. Macron who actually is a dead-ringer for the brother, Jean-Michel. So, what exactly is going on here? A dead Brigitte, and a Mrs. Macron who looks like the brother?

Comment: On the matter of lawsuits, the media often cites a case that Brigitte Macron brought against the two authors of the book that forms the basis of this theory, but, curiously, that case wasn't for defamation but for 'misuse of private family photos'.

'Mrs' Macron won that case, but in fact, upon appeal, the fines issues to the authors were greatly reduced. The judge in that case also told the defendant that 'she' really ought to sue for outright defamation. But, as yet, 'she' has not...

Another assault on privacy: Federal appeals court rules cops can physically make you unlock your phone

The 9th Circuit determined that forcibly mashing a suspect's thumb into his phone to unlock it was akin to fingerprinting him at the police station.

As we keep more and more personal data on our phones, iPhone and Android devices now have some of the most advanced encryption technology in existence to keep that information safe from prying eyes. The easiest way around that, of course, is for someone to gain access to your phone.

This week, a federal court decided that police officers can make you unlock your phone, even by physically forcing you to press your thumb against it.

Flashback Best of the Web: France's First Lady Brigitte Macron LOSES 'transgender lawsuit'

Comment: This is the 'elephant in the room' in the 'conspiracy theory' that France's 'first lady' is, in fact, a man: there has, as yet, 3 years into everyone in France reading about the theory online here, been no defamation case to prove otherwise!

Brigitte Macron transexual
Brigitte Macron, the First Lady of France, filed a complaint last year against two women who uploaded a YouTube video titled "Brigitte Macron is a man." The video alleged that Brigitte had a gender reassignment at 18.

On Wednesday, the French newspaper Le Point reported that Brigitte's complaint against the two women was "voided" by a Paris Judge.
In its decision, consulted by AFP, the court declared void the summons issued by Brigitte Macron for invasion of privacy and image rights, considering that the facts she denounced should have been qualified of public defamation.

Brigitte Macron, her brother, and the three children of the First Lady had assigned two women on February 15, 2022, one presenting herself as a "medium," the other as an "independent journalist."

They asked the court to condemn these two women to pay them damages for having broadcast on the YouTube channel of the "medium", on December 10, 2021, "a perfectly eccentric thesis" according to which Brigitte Macron, born Trogneux, does not would never have existed, but that his brother would have taken on this identity after changing sex.

In Part 1: I explained that the next financial crisis will be bailed out not with central bank money creation but with our stocks, bonds and bank balances.

In Part 2: I explained the multi-year quiet regulatory changes that dispossessed us of our property.

In Part 3: I explain David Rogers Webb's conclusion that a massive financial crisis is pending in which our financial assets are the collateral underwriting the derivative and financial bubble and will result in the loss of our assets but leave us with our debts as happened to those whose banks failed in the 1930s.

Webb begins with the economic formula that the velocity of circulation of money times the money supply equals nominal Gross Domestic Product. V x MS = GDP.

The velocity of circulation is a measure of how many times a dollar is spent during a given period of time, e.g., quarterly, annually. A high velocity means people quickly spend the money that comes into their hands. A low velocity means people tend to hold on to money.

Blinken: Even if Israel evacuates Rafah, a significant civilian population will remain and be exposed to harm

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken reiterates that the Biden administration "cannot support a major military operation in Rafah."

Blinken, at a press conference in Italy, said:
"First, there are currently somewhere around 1.4 million people in Rafah — many of them displaced from other parts of Gaza. It's imperative that people are able to get out of the way of any conflict, and doing so is a monumental task for which we have yet to see a plan. Not only getting them out of harm's way, but making sure that they can be supported with humanitarian assistance.

"Second, even if people are largely out of harm's way, inevitably there's going to remain a pretty significant civilian population in Rafah, and we believe that a major military operation with a large presence of the civilian population would have terrible consequences for that population.

"We are committed, as Israel is, to ensuring that Gaza cannot be controlled by Hamas... But in terms of major military operations in Rafah, that's something that we don't support, and we believe that the objective can be achieved by other means.

"We've been engaged in conversations at senior levels with Israel over the past couple of weeks on this, including as recently as this week."

Comment: Though White House claims it did not give Israel a green light for Rafah op, it's meddling has expanded to Iran:
The U.S. earlier on Wednesday announced new sanctions against Iran in an evident gesture seeking to end the potential escalation in the Middle East after Israel's retaliation believed to take place after the Passover.

According to the source, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have launched airstrikes at the south Gaza areas adjacent to the Egyptian border, with some believed to be used for Hamas arms trafficking.

Cairo is said to be actively seeking to prevent or at least postpone the operation. Earlier on Wednesday, the Egyptian Ministry of Information issued a warning saying the Rafah operation could endanger Israel-Egypt peace.

A ground invasion of the city that shelters Gazans displaced during the past six months is feared to cause further deterioration of the humanitarian crisis in the Strip.
