Obama will take executive action on immigration after summer, Obama adviser says

The move could trigger impeachment proceedings against President Obama, said his senior adviser, Dan Pfeiffer. A spokesman for the House speaker called the impeachment comments 'political games.'

President Obama will go ahead with a "very significant" executive action on immigration after the summer - a move that may well trigger impeachment proceedings against him, senior Obama adviser Dan Pfeiffer told reporters at a Monitor breakfast Friday.

"The president acting on immigration reform will certainly up the likelihood that [Republicans] would contemplate impeachment at some point," said Mr. Pfeiffer, who has been at the Obama White House since its inception.

A lot of people in Washington laughed off Sarah Palin's call to impeach the president for executive overreach, Pfeiffer said, but "I would not discount that possibility." Polling shows strong support for the idea among the GOP base, he said, adding that House Speaker John Boehner (R) of Ohio has opened the door to the possibility with his lawsuit against Obama.

US political circus: Republicans may push to impeach Obama If they get the chance

The notion of impeaching President Barack Obama got substantial attention Friday from two White House officials, who both said senior Republicans wanted to see it happen. But they couldn't name any senior Republicans when pressed.

Further, White House press secretary Josh Earnest expressed doubt about whether House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) was sincere when he said impeachment is not on the table.

"I do believe that the speaker said on a number of occasions that there would not be steps taken by Republicans to shut down the government over health care," Earnest said of Boehner, adding, "Maybe you need to ask him a little bit more about whether impeachment is on the table or not."

Some conservatives have called for impeaching Obama regarding executive overreach on issues such as Obamacare, immigration and guns without congressional authorization. The Democratic National Committee and Organizing for America have consistently used impeachment in fundraising emails to warn donors about what could happen if Republicans win more seats in the House and gain control of the Senate.

At least 24 civilians were killed and another 85 injured as the city of Lugansk in eastern Ukraine was heavily shelled by Kiev forces on Friday and Saturday, media reported.

The bombardment of the city, home to over 400,000 people, began at around 06:00 PM local time on Friday and went on during the night and through Saturday morning.

Kiev forces hit 22 buildings, including a school and a kindergarten. Self-defense forces told the LifeNews Channel that 24 have died, adding that the death toll may rise as shelling of the city continues.

An eyewitness told RT that around 10 people were killed at a bus stop in the Yubileynoe village, which is also a part of Lugansk.

"Peaceful civilians were torn into pieces at the bus stop," Viktor said, adding that the attack by Kiev forces was "aimed exclusively at the civilian population."

"They're targeting private houses... There are no checkpoints, no troops, no self-defense forces there," he said.

At least 13 civilians and likely dozens more have been killed by continuing artillery barrages, as government troops close in on militia positions around the city of Gorlovka in eastern Ukraine.

A 1-year old - killed next to her parents - and a 5-year old are among the dead, according to information published by the Donetsk regional administration. Several local journalists on the ground have reported that as many as 30 have been killed, as fighting continues.

Government troops reached the outskirts of the city of 250,000 people late on Thursday, and have pushed militants back into positions inside residential areas.

From about 5am Sunday morning, heavy artillery shells began to explode alongside several of the main highways.

"They were aiming for our headquarters, but missed and hit residential areas instead," a local militant source told RIA news agency.

"One of the mortars hit the top floor of a popular supermarket that had customers inside. Another hit exploded in a courtyard outside an apartment block, and another next to a maternity hospital. We still don't know how many are dead - there are ambulances everywhere," local resident Sergey, who did not want to give his surname for fear of reprisals, told RT.

"My house has been reduced to rubble, and one of my in-laws has a piece of shrapnel lodged in his leg, while another has eye damage," said Vera, another local resident, by phone.

More obstruction from Kiev: Heavy firing keeps experts from MH17 site

International experts have been unable to visit the crash site of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17, due to heavy fighting in the Donetsk area. Kiev and anti-government forces are blaming each other for hampering the investigation.

"We heard indications there's fighting going on," said Alexander Hug, deputy head for the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) monitoring mission in Ukraine.

"The situation on the ground appears to be unsafe...we therefore decided to deploy tomorrow morning," he added.

Hug expressed concerns that the fighting near the village of Grabovo in Ukraine's Donetsk region will "most likely affect crash site."

Forensic experts arrived in Ukraine to recover the remains of passengers that have not yet been returned to the Netherlands for identification.

The Malaysian jet was carrying 298 people, the majority of them Dutch citizens, when it crashed on July 17. Coffins with the remains of 227 victims have already been delivered to the Netherlands.

Although the fighting is disrupting the investigation, the Netherlands, Australia, and Malaysia have ruled out sending an international armed mission to secure the crash site.

"We concluded there was a real risk that an international mission would immediately be involved in the conflict in Ukraine," Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said.

Political Ponerology in action: The world is doomed by western insouciance

gaza ukraine deaths
This is a small sample of the destruction that pathocrats create. Left: Bodies of people killed during shelling by Kiev forces in Lugansk, July 18th. Right: on the same day 3 children from the same family, exterminated in Gaza.
European governments and the Western media have put the world at risk by enabling Washington's propaganda and aggression against Russia.

Washington has succeeded in using transparent lies to demonize Russia as a dangerous aggressive country led by a new Hitler or a new Stalin, just as Washington succeeded in demonizing Saddam Hussein in Iraq, the Taliban in Afghanistan, Qaddafi in Libya, Assad in Syria, Chavez in Venezuela, and, of course, Iran.

The real demons - Clinton, Bush, Obama - are "the exceptional and indispensable people" above the reach of demonization. Their horrific real crimes go unnoticed, while fictitious crimes are attributed to the unexceptional and dispensable people and countries.

The reason that Washington demonizes a leader and a country is to permit the creation of circumstances that Washington can use to act with force against a leader and a country.

Flashback Dark journalism: Fox News vs Diana Buttu

This article was posted on Youtube in July 2012, and Gilad Atzmon brought it to our attention when he re-published it today. Despite the date, the video is still relevant because it displays the bullying by so called journalists that people like Diana Buttu have to suffer for daring to publicly share the truth about Palestine. The Fox News and zionazi propaganda pawn wants her to deny what she witnesses in Gaza, and agree with him that it is all Hamas' fault, poor Israelis are just defending themselves! When she doesn't? He cuts her off. Just like today's mainstream "journalism"....

Mr. Fish illustrates the situation in Gaza quite aptly, just as described by Diana Buttu:

SOTT Focus: Behind the Headlines: Israel - Global Pariah or Promised Land?

Image
This week on SOTT Talk Radio Niall and Joe discussed the ongoing conflict in Israel/Palestine and other major recent events in world news. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is the world's longest running conflict, yet very few people know its actual history, when and why it began and why it continues to this day. Even fewer have any understanding of how, because of the conflict, the state of Israel and its 'intelligence agency' the Mossad, has wielded and wields vastly disproportionate (relative to its size and population) power on the world stage and has thereby contributed significantly to the course of our modern civilization.

Other topics discussed on this show include the recent spate of 'downed' commercial aircraft, the ongoing information war between the 'West' and Russia over Ukraine, and much more.

Best of the Web: Nato leaders maneuvering to construct Iron Curtain between Russia and the West

washington iron curtain ukraine
© a-w-i-p.com
NATO leaders are currently acting out a deliberate charade in Europe, designed to reconstruct an Iron Curtain between Russia and the West.

With astonishing unanimity, NATO leaders feign surprise at events they planned months in advance. Events that they deliberately triggered are being misrepresented as sudden, astonishing, unjustified "Russian aggression". The United States and the European Union undertook an aggressive provocation in Ukraine that they knew would force Russia to react defensively, one way or another.

They could not be sure exactly how Russian president Vladimir Putin would react when he saw that the United States was manipulating political conflict in Ukraine to install a pro-Western government intent on joining NATO. This was not a mere matter of a "sphere of influence" in Russia's "near abroad", but a matter of life and death to the Russian Navy, as well as a grave national security threat on Russia's border.

A trap was thereby set for Putin. He was damned if he did, and damned if he didn't. He could underreact, and betray Russia's basic national interests, allowing NATO to advance its hostile forces to an ideal attack position.

We have no opinion on mass murder of children: Irish government abstains from vote on Gaza slaughter

Image
You'd have to have a heart of stone not to feel just a little sympathy for Charlie Flanagan, the Foreign Affairs Minister. It's true that the murdered Palestinian children and their distraught relatives have a greater claim on our solidarity - but, Charlie Flanagan, at this stage of
his life, well, he's been finding out how humiliating it can be to be an Irish minister.

Last week, Charlie had to stand over the Irish Government's decision to abstain on a United Nations vote on the Gaza slaughter. UN member states had a choice - intervene in the slaughter or stand idly by. Intervening by resolution mightn't achieve much, but there was a stark difference between voting for the resolution and not doing so.

It really doesn't matter how appalled and shocked we say we are about the deliberate slaughter of civilians. If we're asked to allow the UN to hold a formal inquiry and we shrug our shoulders we're saying, yeah, sorry about the dead kids - appalled, shocked - but we have other fish to fry.

As the slaughter continues, the Israelis and their enemies lay down ceaseless barrages of propaganda. Turn on a radio or TV and there's always some wide-eyed zealot from one side or the other speaking with intense sincerity in terms that are only loosely related to reality.

Comment: At least some in Ireland still know how to make a stand. This new mural has appeared on the Falls Road in West Belfast:
