Puppet Masters
While everybody knows that the US has a long history of meddling in Latin American countries, and a shorter more recent history of meddling in Middle Eastern countries, voices on the left, center, and right across the West have fallen into confluence with supporting the Globalists' dream of "restoring democracy to Venezuela."
Why is 'never again' happening again? IS Maduro an evil socialist dictator who kills his own people and imposes authoritarian control upon his country? Is Venezuela's dire economic situation proof that socialism fails? Should people support regime changing a foreign country in THIS case because it's truly exceptional?
This week on NewsReal, Joe & Niall discuss the unfolding 'coup' in Venezuela...

China's foreign ministry called billionaire philanthropist George Soros's criticism of China and President Xi Jinping "meaningless and not worth refuting". Soros, during Thursday's speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, called Xi "the most dangerous opponent of open societies."
Sputnik discussed the US financier's attack on China with E. Michael Jones, an American writer, media commentator and editor of Culture Wars magazine.
Sputnik: How justified is this criticism of China's president by George Soros?
E. Michael Jones: In America we have this expression 'the pot calling the kettle black'. What we have here is George Soros trying to protect us from China, which is great, but who's going to protect us from George Soros? We have three countries here, the United States, England and France, all with popular uprisings against the rule of the oligarchs, and George Soros is one of the main oligarchs, an architect of this system which everyone is finding intolerable. George Soros is trying to create race war in the United States with his Open Society Foundation, he gave $33 million to Black Lives Matter to create race war here. We also have a situation here in the United States where the [name] George Soros is now officially called an anti-Semitic dog whistle. Now for those who speak English and don't understand that phrase, a dog whistle means as soon as you say the [name] George Soros you will be accused of being an anti-Semite. Now we have reached this intolerable situation here largely because of George Soros's "open society program". If this is an open society give us totalitarianism.
"Israel joins the United States, Canada, most of the countries of Latin America and countries in Europe in recognizing the new leadership in Venezuela," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a brief statement on Sunday. However, unlike many of those who denounced President Nicolas Maduro as a 'dictator' and 'usurper' and urged him to step aside, Netanyahu stopped short of openly calling for any action that might fuel internal conflict in Venezuela.
"Appreciation and kudos to the Government of Israel for standing with the people of Venezuela and the forces of freedom and democracy," US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman tweeted upon hearing the news.
Comment: As the saying goes: You can tell a lot about a person by the friends they keep:
- Dictator of Israel? Netanyahu shuns call for snap elections, names himself defense minister (in addition to being PM, foreign & health minister!)
- "Their future vassal": US meddling in Venezuela just like Iraq and Libya - Russian Foreign Ministry

Following Trump's statement, Facebook put a verification icon on the president of the parliament's account, Russian State Duma speaker said
On Wednesday, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin took a swipe at Facebook blasting the social media giant for illegally depriving Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro's account of the blue checkmark verification icon, while bestowing one on the account of his rival, Juan Guaido, the nation's speaker, who unilaterally declared himself head of state, while US President Donald Trump recognized him as acting president of the Latin American country.
Comment: That Facebook would so blatantly play political games reveals how, despite their claims, they are not politically neutral. They are more like the social media wing of the US government.

A billboard showing US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin is seen in Montenegro on November 16, 2016.
Their many opponents on Russia's political spectrum, self-described "patriotic nationalists," have insisted that the country must look instead to its own historical traditions for its future development and, still more, that American democracy was not a system to be so uncritically emulated. Not infrequently, they characterize Russia's democrats as "fifth columnists" whose primary loyalties are to the West, not their own country. Understandably, it is a highly fraught political debate and both sides have supporters in high places, from the Kremlin and other government offices to military and security agencies, as well as devout media outlets.
Comment: Russiagate and the attacks on Trump by the US establishment hasn't only proven to Russians the unenviable state of American politics, it's revealed to a great many more American's just how rotten the system is:

"This is Washington's attempt to start directly managing the political situation in Venezuela which the US elites consider as their future vassal in the region," Zakharova said. "They already 'restored' democracy in Iraq, as well as in Libya. They failed in Syria, or, it will be more accurate to say, they were not allowed to do it. Now it is Venezuela's turn," she added.
On January 23 Venezuelan National Assembly Speaker Juan Guaido proclaimed himself as the country's acting president. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has described it as a coup attempt and announced severing diplomatic relations with the United States. Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez said that the armed forces do not recognize Guaido as interim president.
Comment: The US administration is shameless and is attempting to make the most of the chaos it's overseeing in the country; White House national security adviser John Bolton brazenly claimed that regime change in Venezuela would be a big opportunity for business.

Understanding why Gabbard receives the hatred she does is a complicated task. But it largely stems from two key risks she's taken during her young political career (she is only 37 years old). The first was in 2016, when she resigned from the Democratic National Committee and endorsed Bernie Sanders, the socialist insurgent then challenging Hillary Clinton's coronation. Gabbard maligned Clinton's foreign policy views as unacceptably hawkish, and some Democrats will never forgive her for this grave betrayal.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., speaks during the Women's Unity Rally at Foley Square on Jan. 19, 2019 in New York City.
Conservatives have long warned that the Democratic Party is slowly drifting too far left, and politicians like Ocasio-Cortez are living proof.
The 29-year-old representative from New York was elected in November despite her affiliation with the far-left Democratic Socialists of America, and one doesn't even need to dig into her past to figure out that she's a proponent of socialism.
Addressing a pro-Israel conference last month in Florida, Herzog said that "white supremacists are active as ever..." and "Pittsburgh can recur God forbid." His host Dana Weiss of the Israeli American Council pressed him: "There is an argument being made that anti-Israelism, anti-Zionism on the left is as dangerous as the ultra right traditional antisemitism."
"Well in many quarters it's true," said Herzog, who ran against Benjamin Netanyahu from the left four years ago. He went on:
