OSCE: Kiev has butchered over 250 civilians in Lugansk in last 2 months

At least 250 civilians were killed and over 850 wounded in June and July in the opposition-controlled city of Lugansk, which is besieged by the Ukrainian military, the daily report by the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission said.

According to the report, the observers met with members of Lugansk emergency first aid brigade on Thursday.

"The doctors said that in June and July alone there were 250 killed and 850 wounded in the Lugansk region," the document published Saturday said.

The figures didn't include civilians killed in close vicinity of combat zones outside the city as well as causalities among those involved in fighting, the report pointed.

The medics also told the Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) that "increasingly more people were being killed by booby traps and mines."

The situation in Lugansk and Donetsk Regions "remained tense with on-going fighting around the city of Luhansk," the observers said.

The report says the "SMM heard the sound of a shell hitting a garage," while patrolling the center of Lugansk.

When the mission arrived on the scene, they found "one man killed lying on the pavement; the garage and a car were totally demolished."

On Saturday night, air sirens started off in Lugansk as a fighter jet was spotted in the skies following a brief mortar shelling. Friday attacks took 15 lives while over 50 more were injured, local authorities said.

Emergency workers sift through Malaysia Airlines debris field

We're back at the debris field of Malaysia Airlines MH 17 as the sun is setting.

The bodies are gone and the emergency workers established a perimeter, only to abandon it less than an hour later. We weren't immediately allowed to get up to the wreck like before, but it is now totally unguarded.

The rebels were even off in their tent and not patrolling the area.

We watched local emergency workers sift through the wreckage, lifting and moving pieces of debris. Coal miners who were brought in to comb the field for remains clamored about the wreckage, lifting up debris and taking pictures with their phones.

To my untrained eye, this looks like exactly the type of thing investigators would not want -- evidence being moved.

7:43 a.m. -- Maybe the light is better this morning, maybe we dare look more, but we're seeing body parts everywhere today in .

All of the bodies we spotted Friday were still laying among the wreckage nearly 48 hours after the crash.

It's been raining. The smell is different today.

Less jet fuel. More like a butcher shop.

It's worse.

Anywhere else in the world, this crash site would be sealed off and crawling with investigators.

Journalists, rebels and a few emergency workers are the only ones here this morning.

As we pulled away, investigators arrived to begin removing the bodies.

Comment: Interesting way to conduct an investigation...buck-a-bag, anyone? Or is it more advantageous to contaminate the evidence?

Common sense cooperation: Germany and Russia agree to international investigation into downing of MH17

merkel and putin

German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Russian President Vladimir Putin have agreed for an international investigation into the downing of a Malaysian Airlines plane over Ukraine, Berlin said on Saturday.

The two leaders, who spoke on the telephone, "agreed that an international, independent commission under the direction of ICAO (UN's International Civil Aviation Organization) should quickly have access to the site of the accident... to shed light on the circumstances of the crash and move the victims," said a German government statement.

A Kremlin statement on the same phone call said that "both sides stressed the importance of a thorough and objective investigation of all circumstances relating to what has happened" and said Merkel gave a "positive assessment of Russia's readiness to send its representative to participate in the investigation."

Berlin considering expanding criminal prosecution to include American handlers of German spies

Criminal prosecution is likely to be expanded on Americans involved in recruiting and supervising activities of German officials spying for the US intelligence, Germany's Justice Minister Heiko Maas told Welt am Sonntag.

If investigators find a body of evidence that alleged double agents in Germany's federal intelligence service and Defense Ministry have been spying to the benefit of American intelligence, "the investigation would extend on their feasible patrons," Maas declared.

According to Welt am Sonntag, the alleged spymaster is the US citizen Andrew M., a 52-year-old international political consultant, who allegedly received confidential military documents from the Germans.

"The law applies to everyone without discrimination," Maas said, stressing that intelligence security laws apply on friendly states either. "Those who do not abide by the law in this country may have to face criminal prosecution," he said.

"Spying among friends is like breaching a diplomatic dam," Maas said.

"The evidence for espionage activities is very strong," an anonymous security officer closely familiar with the case told the paper. "If I were the federal prosecutor, I would press charges."

An unceasing row of intelligence scandals, that started over a year ago with revelations of former NSA contractor Edward Snowden, who have revealed that the US has been extensively eavesdropping Germans, Chancellor Angela Merkel included, for years now.

Comment: It will be interesting to see how far the German government is willing to go in retaliation over US spying.

'Killary' Clinton urges the EU to use the MH17 disaster to dump Gazprom

Ah, now the agenda is starting to make a bit more sense. Hillary Clinton doesn't want a good crisis to go to waste. She told Charlie Rose that her recommendation to the European Union is to take advantage of the shot-down MH17 tragedy to "Immediately accelerate efforts to find alternatives to Gazprom."

'Stop the genocide': South American leaders condemn the extermination of Palestinians in Gaza

The presidents of Venezuela and Bolivia have decried the IDF's incursion into Gaza as genocide and called for the UN to condemn Israel. President Nicolas Maduro likened the latest operation, which has claimed over 350 lives, to an "extermination."

Venezuela called for an emergency session of the UN's Human Rights Council to address Israel's ongoing military incursion in Gaza, on Saturday. The South American nation's government reiterated its support for the Palestinian people and warned the Israel had "initiated a higher phase of its policy of genocide and extermination with the ground invasion of Palestinian territory, killing innocent men, women, girls and boys."

"President Nicolas Maduro has instructed the Ambassador to the UN Jorge Valera to call for an emergency session of the Human Rights Council," said an official statement on Saturday, adding the UN should address the "systematic violation of the Human Rights of the Palestinian population in Gaza by the State of Israel and adopt the necessary measures to halt those violations."

Venezuela has been a staunch supporter of Palestinian statehood, with the previous president, the late Hugo Chavez, severing relations with Israel after he compared its 2009 military incursion into Gaza to the Holocaust.

Downing of Flight MH17 compares to WWII submarine attacks on passenger liners

Air routes in the eastern Ukraine were shut down yesterday after the shock destruction of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 from a missile attack, but questions remain about whether authorities should have closed the route sooner.

Europe's Eurocontrol said Ukrainian authorities had informed it that routes through Dnipropetrovsk Flight Information Region (FIR) were closed until further notice and flight plans filed for the routes were now being rejected.

The influential Flight Safety Foundation has already called for an immediate independent international investigation into the incident and there are calls for a new body to better estimate the risk posed by global trouble spots.

University of Central Queensland aviation specialist Ron Bishop, who spent 23 years with US Air Force special operations, said a better notification system for global hotspots was needed.

What really happened to Malaysian Flight MH17?

Image
Washington's propaganda machine is in such high gear that we are in danger of losing the facts that we do have.

One fact is that the separatists do not have the expensive Buk anti-aircraft missile system or the trained personnel to operate it.

Another fact is that the separatists have no incentive to shoot down an airliner and neither does Russia. Anyone can tell the difference between low-flying attack aircraft and an airliner at 33,000 feet.

The Ukrainians do have Buk anti-aircraft missile systems, and a Buk battery was operational in the region and deployed at a site from which it could have fired a missile at the airliner.

Just as the separatists and the Russian government have no incentive to shoot down an airliner, neither does the Ukrainian government nor, one would think, even the crazed extreme Ukrainian nationalists who have formed militias to take the fight against the separatists that the Ukrainian army is not keen to undertake - unless there was a plan to frame Russia.

Weathering the propaganda firestorm surrounding flight MH17

MH17 propaganda
The level of unsubstantiated propaganda being directed against Russia regarding the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 has reached unprecedented lows.

There is tangible desperation across Western media establishments, their political spheres, and within their corporate-financier funded policy think-tanks as they attempt to reassert their agenda and narrative not only upon the crisis in Ukraine, but upon the entire world as their weakening grip becomes apparent to all.

The dangerous desperation emanating from the West follows the latest in a series of growing failures - the previous and most comparable being the loss of its proxy war against Syria and the desperate criminal conspiracy they unleashed in a failed attempt to save it.

Israeli military sprays Palestinian homes with chemical that reeks of sewage

Image
Israeli forces sprayed homes and shops along Bethlehem's Manger Street with a foul-smelling chemical on Friday night following clashes with local youths protesting in solidarity with Gaza.

On Friday evening, Israeli forces opened fire on youths in northern Bethlehem with stun grenades and rubber-coated steel bullets after large marches broke out in the area near Rachel's Tomb.

After midnight, Israeli forces brought in trucks that sprayed the sides of buildings along Manger Street with a putrid-smelling chemical known as "Skunk."

The chemical was sprayed along Bethlehem's main street primarily in the areas in front of the Paradise Hotel and Azza refugee camp, and as of morning the area continued to smell of sewage.
