Puppet Masters
Bottom line is Eliot Higgins, aka BrownMoses, aka one-man 'research group' Bellingcat is funny. He just is. And there's nothing much his would-be promoters can do about that. They try to sell him as a gritty 'citizen journalist', but he doesn't have the face or the CV for it, and it always falls flat. Even casual conversation with him reveals the embarrassing truth that his "research", so lauded in the popular media, consists of entry-level computer skills and an awful lot of smoke-blowing. You or I or literally anyone over the age of seven with internet access could do it. If we thought it was worth while.
Which mostly we wouldn't.
His "BUk research" is little more than "oh look there's that lorry again" type photo comparison. Eliot, believing his own publicity, really doesn't seem to understand that there's nothing to show this particular and much-photographed BUK (or any BUK anywhere for that matter) had anything whatsoever to do with MH17. He doesn't get that all he actually has is a lot of random pix downloaded from the internet. His MSM backers do understand this, but try to elide it and hope none of us notice.
But when Eliot tries to venture beyond this things only get worse. Remember his claims to have "proved" the Russians photoshopped their satellite pics? The MSM are blurry on details of how he did this, because they are so damning to his and their credibility, and try to market his findings as marvellous but unspecified techy-magic.
The very existence of the modern Middle Eastern states have been "shaped by oil business," Kneissl told the UNGA. A Middle East expert herself went on to explain that the borders of the states that were established following the breakdown of the Ottoman Empire were "based on pipelines."
All the wars the region witnessed over the recent decades are just a continuation of this fight for the control over the fossil fuels that still "dominate the energy mix" in the world, the foreign minister said, adding that Syria, which has been engulfed in a bloody seven-years conflict, is "a victim of instability created by all these wars."
Comment: Well now, that wasn't so hard, was it?
After 17 years - SEVENTEEN YEARS! - a Western leader has finally matched her words with reality.
No wonder Putin bothered to go to this one's wedding. She seems at least fairly honorable!
The illegal wars being waged on the Middle East by the West, and helped in large part by Israel and Saudi Arabia, are not only for its mineral wealth, but also for geostrategic purposes which would enable the continuation of the ailing US hegemon:

The Times of India reported, citing its sources in the government, about India's willingness to sign a $5.43 billion deal. It is anticipated that the decision was taken on the eve of Vladimir Putin's visit to the country, scheduled for the beginning of October. However, official confirmation has not yet come.
Deliveries of the S-400 Triumph and frigates from project 11356 were agreed between Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in October 2016. If the contract is officially closed, India will become the third foreign buyer of the Russian S-400 missiles, after China and Turkey.
Comment: Given India's membership in the BRICS and the chance to be a major player in China's New Silk Road, the chances of the US being able to make inroads into India's foreign policy are small. Good thing too. Everything the US touches ends up destroyed.

Commenting on media reports about the transfer of Ukrainian military equipment to the Zakarpattia region, which borders Hungary, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said Budapest doesn't know quite what to make of the possible deployment.
"It's quite unusual that they are transferring their troops to the border of a NATO member country. What the point of all this is something you need to ask them. I don't know the answer," the diplomat said.

As US lawmakers mull a new round of "crippling" sanctions, some traders are predicting the price of Russia's main export will hit $100 a barrel for the first time since 2014. The windfall from higher oil revenue could end up mitigating the effect of even the harshest measures under discussion in Washington and investors are picking up Russian government bonds on the back of crude's gains.
"The surge in oil prices should outweigh the sanction fear," said Viktor Szabo, a portfolio manager at Aberdeen Standard Investments in London. "Russia is one of the strongest among emerging markets in terms of fundamentals."

Up to this day, the Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani has not approved Barham Saleh for the presidency, a position allocated for Kurds (Speaker for Sunni and prime minister for Shia).
The choice of Barham Saleh is contested by the many in the Talbani entourage and the Barzani clan who support Fouad Hussein for the Presidency. This office is the most vexing for all camps, including Iran and the US as they attempt to shape the new government. Barham Saleh has been promoted by Brett McGurk (during his last visit to the late Jalal Talabani's wife) and by General Qassem Soleimani according to the source. Nevertheless, Iran and the Hezbollah envoy to Iraq are both trying to avoid upsetting Masoud Barzani.
Speaking at the UN General Assembly, Ri Yong-ho, North Korea's foreign minister, said the blame for the deadlock in the denuclearization process is on Washington. He argued that it became the hostage of the internal political struggle in the US, which has seen some forces attacking Pyongyang to gain ground on their opponents.
Brian Becker, the national coordinator of the A.N.S.W.E.R. anti-war coalition, agrees that the Trump administration has been sending mixed signals to Pyongyang. "The US is playing its double game here," he said. The day after Trump said that there should not be any "rush" with denuclearization, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo vowed to put more pressure on the North until it denuclearizes.
I will first start this article by saying that I have read, both intentionally and unintentionally (stumbled upon), lots and lots of opinions about this specific topic. The main bulk of these opinions recycle the usual blaming of Russia and offer suggestions for how things "should" have been done and "should" now be done. The consensus seems to be that it is Israel that is solely to blame, and it should thus be severely punished. However, even though Russia was lambasted by social media "experts" for the fact that the state of Israel still existed on September 18th (the day after the downing of the Il-20), the criticism of Moscow's policy vis-a-vis Israel's general airstrikes in Syria has been unwavering.
Examples of the criticism are:
- "Russia doesn't defend Syrian troops against Israeli airstrikes";
- "Putin doesn't verbally threaten Bibi with retaliation should he strike again";
- "Russia doesn't give Syria the S1/2/3/4/500";
- and so on and so forth (you get the idea).
Mitchell, who took a leave of absence from Maricopa County's Deputy County Attorney and division chief the County Attorney's Office's Special Victims Division to join the Senate Judiciary Committee's team of attorneys for the hearing, "broke down her analysis" of both testimonies to GOP lawmakers. In a nearly 30-minute presentation, Mitchell went over the "facts that were established and not established" and concluded that not only would she not charge Kavanaugh based on the record of evidence from both parties, but would not even pursue a search warrant for the judge, which in virtually all cases would require the standard of probable causeto be met, Politico reported.
Brooke Singman of Fox News quoted one source as saying "Mitchell was very clear with senators that based on evidence presented, she couldn't bring the case 'anywhere near a court room.'"
The British government has launched another spiral of information campaign aimed to demonize and isolate Russia across the world, Russia's Embassy in London said on Friday.
The embassy's press release was issued following a publication in the Daily Telegraph, which says that the police and secret services identified a third suspect allegedly involved in the poisoning of Sergey Skripal, a former Russian military intelligence officer, and his daughter Yulia in the English city of Salisbury.
"Unfortunately, we witness yet another turn of a powerful media campaign launched by the Tory government in March aimed at discrediting and isolating Russia on the international arena. The whole situation around the Skripals' case reminds of an endless soap opera as the media are repeatedly referring to anonymous sources in the British security and secret services and publishing multiple unverifiable versions and leaks on a daily basis," the press release says.
