DC uniparty kills House resolutions to end US emergency powers in Iraq, Syria, Libya and Yemen

NEAmap
In a massive show of support for limitless executive power, Congress rejected legislation that would have terminated national emergency powers allowing Washington to wage war across the Middle East - and to test biological weapons on US citizens.

Led by Representative Paul Gosar, a handful of Republican members of Congress launched a protest against 41 nominal "national emergency" declarations, many of which are decades old.

Rep. Gosar has argued the National Emergencies Act is "tyrannical," granting 148 separate powers to the executive branch.

This July 18, the House voted down five resolutions to terminate national emergency powers which date back as far as 2003. The countries affected by the five resolutions include Congo, Yemen, Libya, Syria and Iraq. Each vote saw a coalition of pro-war Democrats and Republicans join together in overwhelming numbers to protect the executive branch's emergency authorities.

Among the emergency declarations still in effect is one authorizing war on Libya on the basis that Muammar Ghadhafi posed an urgent threat to the US; one enabling economic warfare on Syria on the specious grounds that Damascus sponsors international terrorism; and another allowing the president to support Saudi Arabia's military assault on Yemen, which resulted in the world's worst humanitarian catastrophe.

Yet another emergency declaration provides the authority for the US government to test biological weapons on American citizens.

Comment: 'Reap what you sow': A long time coming, the result should be damn interesting.

Russia will 'never abandon' goals of military operation - Lavrov

Unlike the West, Russians know what they're fighting for, the foreign minister has said...

Russia's objectives in Ukraine are non-negotiable and existential, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov explained on Wednesday at an annual meeting with domestic non-governmental organizations and nonprofits. "We can't and won't ever give up the goals that were announced as part of the special military operation." Moscow had warned for years against setting up Ukraine as a direct military threat on Russia's doorstep.
"There were plans to create military bases on the Sea of Azov and in Crimea. The regime that had proven its neo-Nazi essence more than once was constantly encouraged to exterminate everything Russian: culture, education, the media, and the Russians themselves, in those lands where their glorious ancestors lived and built cities for centuries.

"The West can spend their days debating the effectiveness of Ukraine's 'offensive,' how far along their goal of 'liberating their territory up to 1991 borders' is and how Russia is thwarting that. We know what we are fighting for."
While debunking the claims of the Western propaganda machine may look like a Sisyphean labor, the world is already changing, Lavrov told the conference.

China's leader Xi Jinping hails 'old friend' Henry Kissinger in Beijing meeting

Chinese leader Xi Jinping hailed former US secretary of state Henry Kissinger as an "old friend" as the two met in Beijing on Thursday.

Kissinger's visit to China this week has seen him call for a rapprochement between Washington and Beijing, which remain at loggerheads over a range of issues, from human rights to trade and national security.

The 100-year-old diplomat was central to the United States establishing ties with communist China in the 1970s and has maintained close contact with the country's leaders over the years.

President Xi told Kissinger on Thursday, according to state media:
"Chinese people value friendship, and we will never forget our old friend and your historic contribution to promoting the development of China-US relations and enhancing the friendship between the Chinese and American peoples. This not only benefited the two countries, but also changed the world.

"The world is currently experiencing changes not seen in a century, and the international order is undergoing enormous change. China and the United States are once more at a crossroads, and both sides must once again make a choice."
Kissinger, in response, thanked Xi for hosting him at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse's building number five — where he met with then premier Zhou Enlai in 1971.
"The relations between our two countries will be central to the peace in the world and to the progress of our societies."

The Senate Judiciary Committee voted to advance Democratic Rhode Island Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse's Supreme Court ethics legislation to the full Senate Thursday.

In a 11-10 party line vote Thursday, the committee advanced Whitehouse's Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal, and Transparency (SCERT) Act, (brief summary) which would require the justices to adopt a code of ethics, increase disclosure and recusal requirements and establish a process for reviewing and investigating complaints made against justices. Republicans, none of whom voted in favor of the bill, spent the markup slamming it as an effort to delegitimize and intimidate the Supreme Court over decisions Democrats disagree with.

Republican Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy, said:
"This legislation is meant to be a court killing machine. It would allow any jack loon out there in America in a tin foil hat whose own dog thinks he's an utter nutter to file a motion to recuse [a] United States Supreme Court justice."

Warsaw is looking to take control over western parts of Ukraine, the Russian president claims

Polish leaders are planning to form a NATO-backed coalition to intervene in the Ukraine conflict and take over parts of western Ukraine as well as, possibly, Belarus, Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed on Friday.

Speaking at a meeting with permanent members of Russia's Security Council, Putin said the government in Kiev is willing to go to any lengths to stay in power, including selling out its own people and handing over Ukrainian territories to "foreign owners."

Best of the Web: The Real History of the War in Ukraine

A chronology of events and case for diplomacy

The American people urgently need to know the true history of the war in Ukraine and its current prospects. Unfortunately, the mainstream media --The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, MSNBC, and CNN -- have become mere mouthpieces of the government, repeating US President Joe Biden's lies and hiding history from the public.

Biden is again denigrating Russian President Vladimir Putin, this time accusing Putin of a "craven lust for land and power," after declaring last year that "For God's sake, that man [Putin] cannot stay in power." Yet Biden is the one who is trapping Ukraine in an open-ended war by continuing to push NATO enlargement to Ukraine. He is afraid to tell the truth to the American and Ukrainian people, rejecting diplomacy, and opting instead for perpetual war.

China's Defense Ministry says the drills will help bolster military relations to counter mutual challenges and threats in the region.

The joint exercises between China and Russia, dubbed Northern Interaction 2023, reflect important understandings between the leaders of both countries, China's Defense Ministry said on Friday.

"These drills have made it possible to implement in practice an important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries," the Ministry said in a statement.

It noted that these interactions confirm once again the high level of trust and friendly relations between the Chinese and Russian armies. The statement added that the naval drills conducted in the Sea of Japan allow for the live testing of coordinated maritime operations.

'Extreme hypocrisy': US using Kiev to clean inventory of banned cluster bombs

US manufactured cluster bombs are hard to sell because they have been banned in so many countries, hence the Pentagon is only too glad to unload them on Ukraine, former Pentagon analyst and Air Force Lieutenant Colonel, Karen Kwiatkowski, told Sputnik.

"The Pentagon's interest seems to be in getting rid of stockpiled munitions, and these cluster bombs are honestly difficult to get rid of for profit as so many nations have banned them," Kwiatkowski said.

"From a US military industrial perspective, the consequence is the Pentagon and its contractors will get [to] clear old inventory... to design and sell more profitable new weapons that serve a similar military purpose - to terrorize populations and slow a military advance."

Citizens of the African nation are dissatisfied with imperialist attitudes of the West, officials told RT.

Western nations have always maintained hegemonic control in Kenyan politics, Miguna Miguna, a former presidential adviser, has said, supporting Moscow's recent claim of interference in Nairobi's internal affairs.

Speaking to RT on Friday, Miguna said that even after independence, Western powers continued to impose their interests on the East African nation, as they do in other parts of the continent.

Hunter Biden faces 10 criminal referrals from House GOP, including the illegal transportation of women for prostitution

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer on Fox Business said that Hunter Biden could be facing up to 10 potential criminal referrals, but with the amount of punishment he is getting, Comer commented Hunter was the "ultimate white privilege guy.

On Thursday, the Kentucky Representative appeared on Fox Business and said to the investigation into the President's son may result in "between six and 10 criminal referrals" and spoke to Fox after Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene presented evidence of Hunter breaking laws concerning prostitution.

A criminal referral is a non-binding communication from Congress to the Department of Justice giving evidence of a possible crime, and asks that the Department of Justice investigate the matter further.
