In unprecedented letter, hundreds of pilots, drone operators, air traffic control officers and others urge coalition to 'reach broad agreements' or they will suspend their service...

More than 1,100 Israeli Air Force reservists, including more than 400 pilots, issued a letter on Friday announcing that they will suspend their volunteer reserve duty in protest of the government's plans to overhaul the judicial system.

The announcement — unprecedented in scale and in terms of the centrality to the IDF of those signed onto the letter — was the latest to send shockwaves through the Israel Defense Forces, which is struggling to stem a growing flood of reserve troops dropping out of volunteer duty to protest the overhaul, as defense officials warned the phenomenon could affect national preparedness.

In the (Hebrew) letter addressed to Knesset members, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi and IAF chief Maj. Gen. Tomer Bar, the 1,142 active duty reservists said the government's controversial plans would lead them to halt their volunteer duty, indicating that the threat would take effect if the "reasonability" bill becomes law next week as scheduled.

Comment: Should the protest continue and reservists hold ground, this could get interesting...

'Once you start censoring, you're on your way to dystopia and totalitarianism,' RFK Jr. tells House Committee

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. • Testimony for US House hearing
In a hearing marred by contentious interruptions and attempts by House Democrats to remove him as a witness, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., chairman on leave from Children's Health Defense (CHD), testified before a U.S. House hearing organized by Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government.

The subcommittee, operating within the House Judiciary Committee, said today's hearing was intended to "examine the federal government's role in censoring Americans," "Big Tech's collusion with out-of-control government agencies to silence speech" and the ongoing Missouri v. Biden lawsuit alleging government censorship.

Other witnesses who testified today included D. John Sauer, special assistant attorney general for Louisiana, an attorney for the plaintiffs in the Missouri v. Biden case, Breitbart journalist Emma-Jo Morris, who in 2020 first revealed the now-infamous "Hunter Biden laptop story," and Maya Wiley, president and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights.

Government censorship and alleged First Amendment violations on the part of the federal government featured prominently in today's hearing. Kennedy told the committee:
"We need to be able to talk. And, the First Amendment was not written for easy speech. It was written for the speech that nobody likes you for."

Comment: The Dems just took bias and stupidity to an unprecedented level!

West's decisions driven by 'impotent rage' - Moscow

Ryabkov

The US and its allies have been pursuing a path full of mistakes in recent years, Russia's Deputy FM says...

The geopolitical decisions of the US and its allies are being dictated by "impotent rage" over the West's dwindling influence on the global stage, Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov has stated.

Following his meeting with members of the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund in Moscow on Friday, Ryabkov was asked to comment on this week's hearing at the US House Committee on Foreign Affairs, during which some participants suggested that the strengthening of Russia's ties with Africa was a result of mistakes committed by Washington.

In response, the deputy foreign minister broadly criticized the policies pursued by the US and its allies on the international arena, suggesting that the Western countries have been "making one mistake after another."
"Their path over the past few years is a path of mistakes and suffering - suffering from their own deficiency in international affairs - from their inability to combine their ambitions, their high expectations that everybody around should obey them, with what they see in reality."

Trinity's Shadow

Trinity's Shadow
© Off-Guardian
I sit here in the silence of the awakening dawn's stillness stunned by the realization that I exist. I wonder why. It is my birthday. The first rays of the rising sun bleed crimson over the eastern hills as I imagine my birth. The house and my family sleep.

Someday I will die and I wonder why. This is the mystery I have been contemplating since I was young. That and the fact that I was born in a time of war and that when my parents and sisters were celebrating my first birthday, my country's esteemed civilian and military leaders celebrated another birth: the detonation of the first atomic bomb code-named Trinity.

Trinity has shadowed my life, while the other Trinity has enkindled my days.

Sick minds play sick word games as they inflict pain and death. They nicknamed this death bomb "the Gadget," as if it were an innocent little toy. They took and blasphemed the Christian mystery of the Trinity as if they were mocking God, which they were. They thought they were gods.

Now they are all dead gods, their fates sealed in their tombs.

Where are they now?

Where are all their victims, the innocent dead of Hiroshima and Nagasaki?

Where are the just and the unjust?

Where are the living now, asleep or awake as Trinity's progenitors in Washington, D.C. and the Pentagon prepare their doomsday machines for a rerun, the final first-strike run, the last lap in their race to annihilate all the living? Will they sing as they launch the missiles - "So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, good night?"

Joseph Biden, the second Roman Catholic president, while mocking the essence of Jesus's message, pushes the world toward a nuclear holocaust, unlike JFK, the first Catholic president, who was assassinated by the CIA for pushing for the elimination of nuclear weapons and the end of the Cold War.

The wheel turns. We count the years. We wonder why.

Hunter's lawyer files House Ethics complaint against Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene for showing explicit screenshots from laptop

© @RepMTG / Twitter screen shotOn Wednesday, July 19, 2023, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene displayed photos and screenshots taken from Hunter Biden's laptop that showed money from his law firm went to paying prostitutes.
A lawyer representing Hunter Biden has filed a House ethics complaint against Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Greene held up sexually explicit images of the president's son during a House Oversight Committee hearing on Wednesday.

The images are from Hunter Biden's laptop, which he had left at a computer repair shop — before making its way into the hands of conservative media.

Abbe David Lowell, Biden's lawyer, wrote a letter to the Office of Congressional Ethics claiming that the congresswoman's actions "blatantly violates House Ethics rules and standards of official conduct."

Comment: MTG hits back:

Fun fact about Hunter's lawyer: He's made a career out of getting politicians and other public figure out of sex and ethics scandals. He has counted among his many clients, Jill Kelly, the "other woman" in the Patraeus scandal, NC Senator John Edwards, Kevin Spacey, and the biggest fish of all, Bill Clinton. It's no surprise that Daddy tapped such a big gun to defend his wayward child.

'Most dangerous moment in world politics': US, China heading for conflict, and it's not clear whether it's avoidable - Orban

orban
© AP Photo / Markus Schreiber
The United States' global standing is declining and the country is heading for a clash with China, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on Saturday, adding that "the million dollar question" is whether this clash can be avoided.

"We are now seeing that America's dominance on the world stage is constantly shrinking... We are now living through the most dangerous moments in world politics, when the number one world power sees that it is slipping into second place... We are moving toward a clash day by day. The million dollar question is whether it is possible to avoid a collision," Orban said in the Romanian city of Baile Tusnad, as aired by the local broadcaster.

Comment: This comment from Orban is particularly notable considering the following event: President Xi meets with China's 'old friend' Henry Kissinger in Beijing, Washington says visit was not on behalf of US gov't

And the meaning of Kissinger's visit is analysed in detail in the following Twitter thread:
100-year-old Henny Kissinger went to China for what reason? It's not about US debt, not about the trade war, not even about Taiwan. In this thread, we find out what Kissinger and Xi discussed behind closed doors, something that will affect us all.

#1/10 The biggest threat to the world is not China, but $31.4 trillion US debt. US bonds price will crash inevitably and nuke many countries' economies. Hundreds of millions of jobs and trillions of dollars in pensions will disappear. Why wouldn't Kissinger ask China to help?

#2/10 When Xi Jinping started his 1st term, he was advised that the Chinese economy couldn't withstand the US bonds crash. China's deleveraging campaign was launched in 2013. It sent the two largest real estate developers to bankruptcy in 2021. Did Xi make a deadly mistake?

#3/10 During my first visit in 2018, everyone in China was in a state of euphoria. Businesses borrowed like crazy to expand. Housing prices were sky-high. Jack Ma was further expanding his empire by giving young Chinese free loans. It was a disaster waiting to happen.

#4/10 By popping its own financial and real estate bubbles, in a controlled manner, the Chinese government defused an economic time bomb. But Western experts say Xi is driving China into the brink of collapse, right?

#5/10 I went shopping for a new condo last week. My agent told me that, yes, local govts had to step in and fund most unfinished building projects. And things weren't great for the last 3 years. But she's busy again. Home buyers are taking advantage of lower housing prices.

#6/10 Here's a gorgeous 100 square meters condo with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms for 1.6 million RMB. But I digress. Back to Kissenger.

#7/10 If a 100-year-old man is going to go on a plane for 14 hours, he'll need a medical team along with him. Kissenger jeopardized his health to travel to China for what reason? It's got to be something about his own legacy.

#8/10 China has spent the past decade insulating itself from the inevitable US bonds crash. It won't be as enthusiastic about saving the US as in 2008. The US economy is near its end. The only exit is war. Kissinger travelled to Beijing to discuss the possibility of war.

#9/10 Kissinger's trip to Beijing has only one purpose - to discuss how to minimize damage when (not if) a war breaks out between China and the US. I hate being so doom and gloom. But here is a Chinese phrase - 危机 Whenever danger lurks, opportunity awaits.
Indeed the US is ramping up its provocations against China, however how this war on China and how it will progress remains to be seen. However what is clear is that the US-led West is failing in its proxy war on Russia, and so it's highly unlikely that it'd get very far in a proxy war, or direct war, with China.

'Possible annexation of Western Ukraine by Poland would be unacceptable' - Lukashenko

© Sputnik / Ilya Pitalev
Russian Foreign Intelligence chief Sergei Naryshkin said earlier that Poland is considering establishing control over the western part of Ukraine through the deployment of its troops there.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said on Sunday that the transfer of western Ukraine to Poland would be an unacceptable scenario for Minsk and pledged to help the region if it asks for assistance.

"The secession of western Ukraine, the fragmentation of Ukraine and the transfer of land to Poland are unacceptable. And if the population of western Ukraine needs this, we will, of course, support them. I ask that you discuss and think through this issue. Naturally, I would like you to support us in this regard," Lukashenko was quoted as saying by a Belarusian news agency during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Comment: Putin's recent comments also support the notion that this plan by NATO and Poland is indeed in the works: Putin: 'If Poland's troops enter Ukraine, they will remain there... forever'

A Ukrainian drone strike has resulted in an explosion at an ammunition depot in the central part of the Crimean peninsula, local Governor Sergey Aksyonov said on Saturday. According to preliminary information, the incident has not resulted in any casualties, he added.

Writing on Telegram, Aksyonov said the detonation had taken place in the Krasnogvardeysky district. "A decision has been made to evacuate the population within a 5km radius from the site of the emergency and place them in temporary accommodation facilities," he added.

The governor stated that the authorities had also suspended rail traffic in the area in order to "minimize risks," while expressing hope that the emergency would be dealt with quickly.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have confirmed the strikes, claiming that they "had destroyed an oil depot and Russian military warehouses" in the area.

Kiev used grain deal to stock up on military supplies - Russia

Ukraine has used the Black Sea grain deal to accumulate sizable military and fuel supplies, Russian Deputy Ambassador to the UN Dmitry Polyansky told the organization's Security Council (UNSC) on Friday. EU nations have also exploited the agreement to reap profits from cheap Ukrainian food products, he said.

Since the UN-facilitated deal was introduced a year ago, "the Kiev regime has built up significant military and industrial [supplies], as well as fuel... storage capacities in the areas near its Black Sea ports," the diplomat said during a UNSC meeting convened after Russia's decision to withdraw from the agreement.

A large number of Ukrainian soldiers and foreign mercenaries have also been stationed in the areas protected under the deal, he said, adding that Russia could "remedy this situation" now that it has left the deal.

UK sanctions on kids' center are 'height of insanity' - Kremlin

British sanctions against the Artek international children's center are a standout example of London's shameful behavior, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Thursday. Artek is a complex of nine recreational and educational camps for children, located in Crimea.

"To be honest, what got to me lately were the UK sanctions against Artek. This is the height of insanity," President Vladimir Putin's spokesman said. "Were I British, I would probably feel ashamed."

Artek was included in the list of 14 Russian individuals and entities sanctioned by the UK on Monday, as being part of Moscow's alleged "attempts to destroy Ukrainian national identity."

UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly claimed that Putin was carrying out a "chilling programme of forced child deportation" in which Ukrainian children were exposed to "hate-filled propaganda spewed by his lackeys."

"Many deported children are relocated to a network of re-education camps in illegally annexed Crimea and mainland Russia, where they are exposed to Russia-centric academic, cultural, patriotic, and military education," the Foreign and Commonwealth Office said in a statement.
