The "they're all in it together" rebuttal canard - Multipolarity is a crock

Flags of the World
© Off-Guardian
I am among a relatively small group of independent researchers and journalists who question the proposed multipolar world order.

One of the objections often thrown my (and our) way — by those who presumably support a new world order led by the BRICS+ group of nations — is that we critics of multipolarity are claiming, with regard to national governments, that "they're all in it together."

Having never once made that argument, constantly refuting it is very annoying. So let me outline why the "they're all in it together" rebuttal is a canard.

Essentially the "all in it together" response runs something like this:

By only highlighting all the areas of agreement between East and West you are overlooking the very real geopolitical differences and conflicts between the two. You are claiming Putin is a WEF stooge and that Xi is a puppet of the White House. We only need to look at their statements and foreign policy commitments to know this isn't true. Yours is a ridiculous argument, you stupid "they're all in it together" proponent. Obviously you couldn't be more wrong.

While making this reposte suggests the defenders of multipolarity haven't read anything we've written — or have deliberately misinterpreted it — it is a not a cogent argument in any event. It needs to be exposed.

The multipolar world order (MWO) is touted as a potential antidote to the current, claimed, international rules based order or system (IRBO). The IRBO emerged as the Western-led consensus on international relations under the "unipolar world order," headed by the US / NATO alliance of nations states. The IRBO and unipolarity dominated geopolitics following the collapse of the Soviet Union.

The IRBO — and the unipolar world order — is predatory and serves the economic and geopolitical interests of Western developed nations, at the cost of everyone else. It has allowed the West to instigate, sponsor and engage in conflicts all over the world. The IRBO aligned nation states pillaged resources, installed puppet governments and exploited weaker nations as they liked. The IRBO is little more than a neocolonialist project of a public-private empire. There are no actual rules beyond "might is right."

On this we can all agree. There's nothing worth defending with regard to the IRBO.

The problems begin when you start pointing out that the MWO is not, in fact, an antidote to the IRBO. It is the evolution of the IRBO. Multipolarity is virtually an enabling act for a new system of global oppression and the transition to a new global economic model.

The is flatly denied by MWO advocates. The argument between MWO backers and opponents appears to be rooted in a dispute over the nature of oligarchy.

US to deploy 5 aircraft carriers in western Pacific in latest provocation against China

The US is likely to deploy nearly half of its aircraft carriers in the western Pacific this year, in a signal of deterrence against the increasing military activity in the region by China and North Korea, analysts said.

Three US aircraft carriers are already operating in the western Pacific Ocean, with two more on the way. Their arrival will mark the first time that five of the 11-strong carrier contingent have operated in the region.

The USS Abraham Lincoln - part of the US Navy's Pacific Fleet - was spotted heading out of its home port in San Diego, California and was sailing towards the western Pacific as of February 5, according to the US Naval Institute's Fleet and Marine Tracker.

The USS George Washington is also expected to be deployed in the region to replace the USS Ronald Reagan, which will be relocating from Yokosuka, Japan for maintenance at the Puget Sound naval shipyard in Washington.

Comment: As Putin said in his recent interview with Tucker Carlson:
Tucker Carlson: [...] But have never explained why you think that happened, except to say that the West fears a strong Russia. But we have a strong China that the West doesn't seem to be very afraid of. What about Russia, what do you think convinced the policymakers to take it down?

Vladimir Putin: The West is afraid of a strong China more than it fears a strong Russia because Russia has 150 million people, and China has a 1.5 billion population, and its economy is growing by leaps and bounds — over five percent a year, it used to be even more.

Russia: Going Slow

Recently, I wrote about American - a.k.a. NATO military strategy, and the Dunning Kruger syndrome which causes West to overestimate its capabilities and to underestimate those of Russia.

I argued that this way of thinking is a unique expression of Western culture and not found to the same extent in Asian cultures. It is not psychopathology as much as it is socio-pathology.

In the West, all communication is based on the notion that people are of one mind, with one Self. Which logically leads to "canceling" those who think differently.

If you are brought up in the US, in particular, it is hard to accept that people in other cultures don't think as you do. You might tolerate difference - but toleration is not the same as acceptance. When proven wrong, Westerners either just ignore the fact, or try to argue that those who disagree with them are not "right" either.

So Western analysts — while now admitting that Russian capabilities have been "underestimated" — insist that Putin also "underestimated: Western capabilities-- specifically Ukrainian and NATO resolve. We were sorta a little off in our estimates - but he was definitely wrong!

Harris says she's ready to serve amid questions about Biden's age

kamala
Vice President Harris said she's ready for the presidency in an interview last week, amid concerns about President Biden's age.

"I am ready to serve. There's no question about that," Harris told the Wall Street Journal when asked about the challenge of convincing voters she's up for the job.

Those who see her work are "fully aware" of her "capacity to lead," Harris said in the interview, just days before a special counsel report stoked renewed questions about Biden's age and mental aptitude.

Kremlin responds to report Putin offered to freeze Ukraine conflict

The Russian leader has not made any such proposal to the US, spokesman Dmitry Peskov said...

A media report suggesting that Russian President Vladimir Putin reached out to the US with an offer to freeze the Ukraine conflict is false, Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov has said.

On Tuesday, Reuters news agency claimed that Putin had contacted Washington through intermediaries to propose "a ceasefire in Ukraine to freeze the war." However, according to "three Russian sources with knowledge of the discussions," who the agency claims to have spoken with, the US rejected the idea.

When asked by journalists on Wednesday about the report, Peskov responded: "No, this is not true."

In his interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson last week, Putin said Russia maintains contacts with the US "through various agencies."

According to the Russian leader, Moscow has told Washington many times:
"if you really want to stop [the] fighting, you need to stop supplying weapons to Ukraine. If that happens, the conflict "will be over within a few weeks. That's it. And then we can agree on some terms before you do that, stop."
Putin reiterated that Russia remains ready for talks with Ukraine, but in order for them to take place, President Vladimir Zelensky should at least cancel his decree that forbids him from negotiating with Moscow.

Comment: Lavrov says 'Nyet'!
The West will not offer a realistic diplomatic solution to the Ukraine conflict because the US and its allies are still intent on inflicting a strategic defeat on Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Wednesday.

Briefing Russian MPs on his ministry's work and the current international situation, Lavrov stated that Moscow is "at the advance guard in the fight for a better future," adding that the Western-dominated system is giving way to a multipolar world.

The US and its allies, however, remain committed to waging a hybrid war against anyone that prioritizes national interests, as evidenced by the continued Ukraine conflict, Lavrov claimed.

There has been a shift in Western rhetoric due to Moscow's battlefield successes, according to the minister, with officials now focusing on preventing a Russian victory rather than ensuring its defeat. Nonetheless, their core policy of trying to damage Russia remains the same, Lavrov said, meaning the conflict is unlikely to be resolved diplomatically.
"Considering that those who declared a war on us offer no serious proposals and are unwilling to respect our interests and the reality on the ground, getting an agreement at the negotiating table will certainly be impossible. No such scenario is foreseen."
Lavrov insisted that the West had initiated the conflict through its continued quest for "global domination and exceptionalism." Russia, meanwhile, is working with its allies to dismantle the current system, which it perceives as colonialist in nature, he told the lawmakers.

US President Joe Biden reiterated his Ukraine policy on Tuesday, urging the House of Representatives to adopt a Senate-approved foreign aid package including roughly $60 billion for Kiev. The money will mostly fund arms production in the US and will help Ukraine oppose the "vicious onslaught" by Russia, Biden claimed. He said:
"The United States pulled together a coalition of nearly 50 nations to support Ukraine. We unified NATO; we expanded it. We can't walk away now."
If approved, the bill would raise the amount of military assistance provided to Ukraine by the US since the outbreak of hostilities in February 2022 to some $170 billion.

A senior Russian security official has questioned the health of the leadership in Washington...

A high-ranking official in Russia's Security Council has voiced alarm over the risk of a nuclear "catastrophe" arising from the Pentagon chief's health problems and the declining faculties of US President Joe Biden, warning of a possible "management mistake" by America's leadership.

Speaking to the Izvestiya newspaper for an interview published on Wednesday, Russian Security Council Deputy Secretary Mikhail Popov said Washington's political instability could trigger an accidental escalation.
"In the overall difficult and nervous internal political situation in the US that has emerged recently, the price of a management mistake, committed by the national leaders, either deliberately or involuntarily, has increased significantly. And there won't be much distance to a global catastrophe."
Popov stressed that he was not referring to "a banana republic," but rather "a state that has nuclear weapons and constantly claims to be the world hegemon." He added that US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin's cancer diagnosis and Biden's old age "have raised questions about the global security system" and the US chain of command, asking :
"How is the decision to use nuclear weapons generally made in the United States?

"The secretary of defense is not there, and no one knows where he is or who is replacing him. The press writes that some of his responsibilities were assigned to Deputy Minister Kathleen Hicks. But she was on vacation in Puerto Rico at the time."

The CIA asked its 'Five Eyes' allies to monitor Trump campaign aides, according to a new investigation...

The US intelligence community inappropriately used foreign allies to target Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's campaign to set up the 'Russiagate' conspiracy ahead of the 2016 election, according to a trio of investigative journalists.

Michael Shellenberger, Matt Taibbi and Alex Gutentag - of 'Twitter Files' fame - published the first part of an investigation on Tuesday, in which they claim the so-called 'Five Eyes' were operationalized against Trump staffers, citing anonymous sources close to the House Intelligence Committee.

According to their report, President Barack Obama's CIA Director, John Brennan, had sent America's partners - the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand - a list of 26 Trump associates to target with data collection, misinformation and manipulation.

Dutch appeals court orders Netherlands to stop exports of F-35 parts to Israel, citing war in Gaza

An appeals court ordered the Dutch government on Monday to halt the export of F-35 fighter jet parts to Israel, citing a clear risk of violations of international law.

A trio of human rights organizations brought a civil suit against the Netherlands in December, arguing authorities needed to reevaluate the export license in light of Israeli military action in the Gaza Strip.

"It is undeniable that there is a clear risk that the exported F-35 parts are used in serious violations of international humanitarian law," Judge Bas Boele said in reading out the ruling, eliciting cheers from several people in the courtroom.

The exports must cease within seven days.

The decision came as Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte traveled to Israel to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss the conflict. Rutte was also expected to separately meet with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the government would appeal. "It is up to the state to shape its foreign policy," Geoffrey van Leeuwen, the minister for foreign trade and development said in a statement. In the meantime, van Leeuwen said his office would abide by the export ban.

"We are extremely grateful that there is justice and that the court was willing to speak out on justice," lead lawyer Liesbeth Zegveld told reporters after the hearing.

X removes verification badge from Iranian media outlets under Israel lobby pressure

PressTV
The social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, has removed the blue and gold checkmarks from the verified accounts of Press TV and other Iranian media outlets.

The move came on Wednesday after a report by the Tech Transparency Project (TTP), a nonprofit watchdog group, said that X is providing premium, paid services to more than a dozen accounts belonging to individuals and groups sanctioned by the US government.

The list included the accounts of Iran's English-, Arabic- and Spanish-language news channels Press TV, Al-Alam and Hispan TV, as well as those of Tasnim News Agency, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Mizan, and PadDolat, the official information website for the Iranian government.

Comment: Considering Musk's relatively recent, uncharacteristic, pro-Israel declarations, one can only presume that, indeed, this is due to pressure from the nefarious forces aligned with the US-Israel agenda.

Notably, some Western-backed outlets have smeared the accounts mentioned above as 'terrorist organisations', meanwhile Israeli accounts remain untouched: A few examples of Israel's reign of terror from just the last few days:

It must be clear that there is no room in the country for both peoples.... If the Arabs leave it, the country will become wide and spacious for us.... The IDF's recent airstrikes on civilian areas in Rafah mark the beginning of the final phase of Israel's massive ethnic cleansing project. On Monday, Israel bombed a number of locations where Palestinian refugees were huddled in tents after fleeing Israel's onslaught in the North. Videos of the destruction appeared on a number of Twitter-sites which showed a deeply-cratered wasteland in the middle of makeshift encampments. Not surprisingly, women and children made up the bulk of the casualties with no evidence of Hamas to be found anywhere. According to a witness at the site, body parts and carnage were strewn across the landscape. This is from an article at the World Socialist Web Site:
