"We head to Chicago on a wave of euphoria, exuberance, exultation, excitement and even, you might say, ecstasy." — Maureen Dowd, The New York Times
Looking a little insurrection-ish at Chicago's United Center all of a sudden as Illinois Governor Jabba the Pritzker orders a wall built around the perimeter to protect the Democratic Party from its very own basket of deplorables — the pro-Hamas, Antifa / BLM nose-ring-for-lunch bunch — with the state's National Guard "on standby." The New York Post and other news sources report 100,000 anti-Israel protesters migrating there to liven-up a convention that also has the potential to go off-script inside the arena — since the script was written by a handful of party mandarins, with the gamed consent of the convened delegates, who might be a little ticked off about the deal.

What the party needs most this week is a plausible aura that it is firmly in control of events, having pulled off coup-after-coup on its own rank-and-file. Most recently, Pelosi & friends passed the black spot to "Joe Biden". (The easy way or the hard way.) He took the hint and dropped out. But then, how exactly did Veep Kamala get plugged into his slot? Five minutes prior, they were, like, yccchhhh, her? And then, two seconds later, somebody arranged a pre-convention Zoom call "virtual vote" of the delegates — like a Las Vegas David Copperfield magic trick — followed by "certification!" (By whom? Answer: the certifiers.) Badda bing, badda bang! Their "democracy" got rolled.

So, you can imagine that things might fly out of control in exact proportion to the Mandarins' desperate need to seem legitimately in control — when they are just a clique of scared-stiff tyrants running scams on their own people — and the result looks like the Democrats' certified metamorphosis into the Party of Chaos.

Comment: The Democratic Convention? It should be a 'super duper'.

Should the US abandon Europe?

A refreshing idea has emerged from the American policy establishment, but it should only be the first step.

Foreign Affairs has published a remarkable article. Under the title, "A Post-American Europe: It's Time for Washington to Europeanize NATO and Give Up Responsibility for the Continent's Security," the authors, Justin Logan and Joshua Shifrinson, make, in essence, one simple argument: the US should leave Europe's defense to the Europeans because it is no longer in Washington's interest to do their job for them. Moreover, Logan and Shifrinson add, the Europeans clearly have the resources - economically and demographically - to look after themselves.

This is a smart piece written in the idiom of Realism, that is, the broad school of thinking about international relations and geopolitics which is based on two premises: that states' interests can be defined and understood rationally, and that most of the time, state leaderships seek to act according to such interests. Logan and Shifrinson also strive to be realistic in the broader sense of the term, acknowledging, for instance, that Russia is not poised to "sweep across" Europe's NATO member states and poses no hegemonic threat to them. These qualities make their intervention stand out among the "value" pep talks and ideological scaremongering that, unfortunately, often pass for policy analysis now.

Comment: US is more a rinse and repeat kind of country. Perhaps changing this is part of the Trump appeal.

The forced ouster of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from power by street agitators earlier this week has many dimensions, internal and external, all of which will be problematic in the near to medium term for Bangladesh itself, for India, and the entire region.

Bangladesh politics has been tumultuous, with Sheikh Hasina's father, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, considered the Father of the Nation, killed in 1975 in a military coup, along with all the members of his family - except Sheikh Hasina and her sister, who happened to be abroad at that time.

Since then, Bangladesh has had a series of military coups until the restoration of civilian rule in 1991. This, however, failed to stabilize the country's politics because of the unending rivalry between Sheikh Hasina's Awami League (AL) and Begum Khaled Zia, the widow of former coup leader General Ziaur Rahman, who heads the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

This has deeply polarized Bangladesh politics, making it virtually impossible for proper democratic processes to function. The BNP has not participated in the last two general elections. Khaleda Zia had been under house arrest since 2018 on corruption charges, but was released by the Bangladesh president hours after Hasina's ouster.

Kiev 'regime' poses threat to all of Europe - Moscow

Any attempt by Kiev to trigger an environmental disaster will be met with immediate retaliation, Moscow warns

The international community should resolutely respond to reports about alleged plans by Kiev to attack the nuclear power plant in Kursk, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Saturday.

Earlier, Russian journalists reported on the plot, and the Defense Ministry vowed a swift and harsh response if these plans come to fruition.

The Ukrainian military launched a cross-border incursion into the Russian border region where the plant is located last week.

The facility is 90km from the border, which has become the arena of fierce clashes in recent days.

Fire breaks out at Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant amid Ukraine-Russia conflict
Ukraine as usual accuses Russia of bombing itself. The point is that: "Only Ukrainian control over the Zaporizhzhia NPP can guarantee a return to normalcy and complete safety." From the article:
About 15 minutes later, around 1500 ET, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed on X that "Russian occupiers have started a fire on the territory of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant."

Zelensky continued:
Currently, radiation levels are within norm. However, as long as the Russian terrorists maintain control over the nuclear plant, the situation is not and cannot be normal.

Since the first day of its seizure, Russia has been using the Zaporizhzhia NPP only to blackmail Ukraine, all of Europe, and the world.

We are waiting for the world to react, waiting for the IAEA to react. Russia must be held accountable for this. Only Ukrainian control over the Zaporizhzhia NPP can guarantee a return to normalcy and complete safety.

A meltdown at the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant would make the region uninhabitable, Stanislav Krapivnik has warned
The exclusion zones near Chernobyl is around around 30 km. The zone rouge, or in English, red zone, in northern France that was deemed uninhabitable after WWI warring covered large areas of which most were later recovered, but some remain to this day highly toxic or littered with buried unexploded shells. Given these examples, it is hard to imagine how a prolonged war in Ukraine and now Southern Russia could lead to large areas needing attention? The way the danger of radiological damages has been ignored or downplayed by some parties could leave the impression that they would not mind a wide and extensive uninhabitable exclusion zone, leading to reduced food production, and probably many lost lives.

Ukraine pushing Russia to use nuclear weapons - Belarus
Kiev may have launched its Kursk incursion to provoke a drastic response by Moscow, President Alexander Lukashenko believes

Ukraine's incursion into internationally recognized Russian territory looks like an attempt to compel Moscow to use nuclear weapons, which would irrevocably damage its image globally, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has said.

In an interview with Russia-1 aired on Sunday, Lukashenko warned that Kiev's operation in Kursk Region - the largest cross-border assault by Kiev since the outbreak of the conflict - posed enormous risks to global security.

"The danger is that this kind of escalation on the part of Ukraine is an attempt to push Russia into asymmetric actions, for example, the use of nuclear weapons," the Belarusian leader said, adding that such a move would be a PR bonanza for both Kiev and its Western backers.

"Then we would probably have hardly any allies left. There would be no sympathetic countries left at all," he noted, explaining that this reaction would be based on the universal aversion to the fallout that could be caused by nuclear weapons.

Lukashenko also responded to statements by Ukrainian officials that the Kursk incursion was aimed at improving Kiev's diplomatic position for possible talks with Russia. This plan is "a classic, but it does not work in a struggle against a great empire that has not even begun to fight in earnest," he argued, adding he was sure that the Ukrainians would eventually be expelled from Kursk Region.

According to its current nuclear doctrine, Russia can deploy its nuclear arsenal only "in response to the use of nuclear and other types of weapons of mass destruction against it or its allies, and also in case of aggression against Russia with the use of conventional weapons when the very existence of the state is threatened."

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said on several occasions that there is no need to use nuclear weapons in the Ukraine campaign. Moscow has warned that it may change its nuclear doctrine, but said that any changes would be in response to what it perceives as escalatory moves by NATO.
Many people in Western Europe appear to ignore the potential of the current conflict to affect their lives even more than the Russia sanctions and the depleting of state funds to finance the NATO proxy war in Ukraine has already done. Will that change?

Scottish gov't suspends meetings with Israel until it 'cooperates with investigation of genocide'

Daniela Grudsky Angus Robertson
© Daniela GrudskyDaniela Grudsky posted a photo on social media of the meeting with Angus Robertson.
The Scottish government has announced it will not hold any more meetings with Israeli ambassadors until "real progress" is made in peace talks over the Gaza conflict.

The SNP administration has faced criticism after External Affairs Secretary Angus Robertson met Israel's Deputy Ambassador to the UK, Daniela Grudsky.

Mr Robertson said he was sorry that the meeting was not "strictly limited" to talks about a ceasefire.

He said the government would not accept further invitations from Israel until "real progress" had been made towards peace, on humanitarian assistance and until Israel "co-operates fully with its international obligations on the investigation of genocide and war crimes".

Comment: Israel's position as a pariah state is becoming fairly established across much of the planet, and whilst this move is unlikely to have any significant impact on Israel's diabolical schemes in the Middle East, it at least lends weight to the growing consensus amongst the general public, contrary to the propaganda media message, that Israel is indeed a rogue, genocidal state, and those supporting it, too, are party to its crimes against humanity. However, this is also likely to only compel Israel to become even more desperate, and malevolent, than it already is:

New video appears to show DC police units planting a J6 pipe bomb

One of the great mysteries about the January 6, 2021, events is the lack of curiosity by the FBI about who planted the pipe bombs at the DNC and RNC headquarters. Amid all of the available CCTV video and surveillance technology exploited by the justice department, their transparent unwillingness to identify the pipe bomber has always been a dog that did not bark.

The Occam's Razor explanation for why DC and federal law enforcement have been incurious, points to law enforcement actually planting the bombs. New CCTV video seems to show exactly that.

Shortly after 12:51 p.m. a DC police SUV appears next to the park bench where the pipe bomb was discovered. [Video Below] A man with a bag exits the SUV, points to the bench, pulls up his right coat collar to obscure his face from the camera located across the street, then walks to the bench with the bag. The "pipe bomb" device allegedly was found at 1:05 p.m. by a plainclothes officer from the Capitol Police.

Comment: The game played by these Deep State types has contingencies within contingencies to ensure they get what they want. Usually, they do. Though sometimes at a high cost.

An outcry to the world on the Zionist-Israeli mass homicide

Way over 100 people, almost all kids, lost their lives — and countless others were severely wounded and may also die.

The children were seeking refuge in the school. They were praying when the bombs hit.

These perpetrators are not humans.

They are not animals.

They are a life satanic infiltration on Mother Earth.

Despite worldwide condemnation for war crimes in Gaza, the diabolical Chief Zionist talks to US Congress and gets 56 standing ovations.

The US Congress, whether Republican or Democrat, is a representation of what the self-styled world's hegemon stands for. It represents their ethical standards, their soul that has long been erased by greed for money and political power, and therefore, no matter whether the representation comes from so-called MAGA (Make America Great Again) US Southern States, like Texas and Florida - they are equally sold to the devil, as some snippets of the Zionist Israel supporters below will show:

The hard and the soft options to bring the criminal Israeli regime to heel

Much as how NATO deployed its vast array of soft and hard power weapons against Russia, so also does this article consider what can be done to bring Israel either into the civilized world or to its senses. Just as with NATO's approach to Russia, so also does the article emphasize the concrete power that comes out of the barrel of a gun, and from the softer power of boycott.

Although the Argentinian Pope is correct to draw our attention to the power of prayer, the fact is that prayer's power has been considerably diminished by the power the Catholic Church, as well as the Anglican-aligned cults, and bestowed to Israeli mouth pieces and agents. Today's Palestinian children, Christians and Muslims alike, will die of old age before any light sufficient to change Israel's mindset will come from those cancerous sources.

Meanwhile, when pianist Jayson Gillham referenced Israel's mass murder of Palestinian journalists in Gaza, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) promptly canceled his scheduled performance. In far-away North London, Norman Lebrecht, the BBC's odious Israeli agitator, informed us that the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is beholden to its "Jewish donors", who vetoed Gillham, whom the odious Lebrecht brands as an odious "anti-Israel agitator", whom "self-respecting Jews will not want to be associated with".

Comment: Certainly the conflict cannot go on forever, even if the Israeli's think otherwise.

Best of the Web: Meta permanently bans media outlet The Cradle in latest attack on free speech

The Cradle
© Esteban CarrilloThe social media giant has singled out an independent West Asian media outlet, as it intensifies its crackdown on Palestinian and regional voices, both on its platforms and among its employees
On 16 August, Facebook and Instagram parent company Meta permanently banned The Cradle from its social media platforms for allegedly violating community guidelines by "praising terrorist organizations" and engaging in "incitement to violence."

"No one can see or find your account, and you can't use it. All your information will be permanently deleted," reads the message accompanying the ban on Instagram, where The Cradle had surpassed 107,000 followers and amassed millions of views.

"You cannot request another review of this decision," the message ends, despite the fact the ban came with little warning or any chance for review.

Comment: For the West-Israel, any organisation that it deems to be an opponent can be categorised as 'terrorist', and supporting a group's resistance to the West-Israel's war of terror can be considered 'incitement to violence'. Regardless of whether this targeted group's resistance is considered legitimate under international law; for example: China tells ICJ Palestinians have 'inalienable right to use armed force' against Israeli occupation

Comment: Notably, earlier this year Google warned advertisers through a change to its terms and conditions that should there be 'sensitive events', it reserved the right to enforce such totalitarian censorship. And this attack on The Cradle comes amidst other chilling attacks and threats against a growing number of dissenting media outlets and geopolitical analysts.

This also occurs alongside other Orwellian developments, such as with the UK protests and riots, where the government have been hunting down people for simply being present at incidents, or resharing incorrect information, and even just sharing memes.

It certainly looks like the crackdown on those exposing government incompetence and corruption, and those who would dare question what their government are doing in their name, is picking up apace:

Terror lovers: Here's how Ukraine is gaslighting the Global South

FILE PHOTO.
© ALAIN JOCARD/AFPFILE PHOTO.
The government of Mali has officially severed diplomatic ties with Ukraine. Ukraine is a country in eastern Europe; Mali is located in the Sahel region of Africa. Their political and commercial relationships are, to put it mildly, not intense, neither in a positive nor - until now - a negative sense. Kiev does not even maintain an embassy in Bamako, Mali's capital, despite having them in a number of other African states; Mali has no diplomatic mission in Ukraine either. At first sight, it is hard to understand how two countries that have so little to do with each other could even have managed to get into such a clash.

But leave it to Kiev to shoot itself in the foot. The strange falling-out is entirely due to Ukraine. Its leadership's aggressive, arrogant, and shortsighted actions have left Bamako hardly any other option but to, in effect, tell Kiev to get lost. While this may appear to be a comparatively localized issue, that impression is misleading. In reality, Ukraine's crude treatment of the African nation has wider significance because it is emblematic of its inability to persuade the Global South or even address it in a respectful manner.

Comment:
Gaslighting is described in the Wiki "as manipulating someone into questioning their own perception of reality.[1][2]" On the one hand Ukraine wants to present itself as in a situation similar to countries in the Global South, but it acts in complete contradiction. If the gaslights in the original 1944 Gaslight movie are faint, Ukraine has switched to playing with high powered flood light. Recall also the grain deal in 2022, where grain from Ukraine was supposed to be exported to developing countries especially in Africa in need of food. Instead much went to the UA army sponsors in the EU.
