Swing states that matter: The real reasons behind Trump and Harris VP picks

Vance walz

The US presidential candidates are trying to tone down their radicalism with the help of their running mates. But who is doing it better?

The election campaign in the United States is gaining momentum and candidates from the major parties (Democrats and Republicans) have decided on their vice presidents. Trump chose Republican Senator from Ohio JD Vance, while Harris chose Minnesota Governor Timothy Walz.

In the United States, the choice of a vice president reflects the final part of the election campaign, when presidential and vice presidential candidates actively move around key swing states and speak publicly. Traditionally, the vice president reflects and mitigates the weaknesses of his senior partner on the ballot and aims to expand the candidate's electoral reach.

The selection of the vice president is a complex process in which the presidential candidate cannot act autonomously. Donors who finance the election campaign and the party establishment who organize and mobilize supporters play significant roles in this process. In addition, the personal characteristics of the candidate, including his age, gender, race and political track record are traditionally taken into consideration.

Comment: Perception management...the only goal that matters.

Poland in 'state of hybrid war' - deputy defense chief

Cezary Tomczyk cited tensions on the border with Belarus and Russian balloons straying into Polish airspace

Poland has slipped into a state of "hybrid war" amid soaring tensions with Russia and its key ally Belarus, Polish Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk has said.

Tomczyk made the remarks on Monday while speaking at a high-level panel on Poland's security situation, suggesting that his country had already entered a state just below the level of actual war.

"What we are facing in Poland today is de facto hybrid warfare. And we can say directly that Poland is in a state of war today, but in a state of hybrid warfare," he stated, as quoted by PAP news agency.

Comment:
1) "It is enough to put a few words in Cyrillic on them, and all portals in Poland will write about it."
This is probably so, and how did that come about? 2) Balloons, potentially dangerous, but are they similar to these? 3) The Polish officials are concerned about balloons. During the Cold War stray balloon were the inspiration for a 1983 pop-hit, "99 Luftballons" which in English became "99 Red Balloons". Here is part of the Wiki summary of the lyrics:
In the end, a cataclysmic war results from the otherwise harmless flight of balloons and causes devastation on all sides without a victor,
The official German music video on YouTube had a comment from a couple of hours ago saying, "I'm from Poland and I love this song 2024." Sure!

Democracy kaput: Germans want peace with Russia, but their rulers only answer to Washington and Kiev

Olaf Scholz
© Filip Singer - Pool / Getty ImagesFILE PHOTO: Olaf Scholz.
Since the beginning of the Ukraine Crisis in 2013/14, German governments, first under former chancellor Angela Merkel, then under her pathetic successor Olaf Scholz, have totally failed to help find a solution through compromise. This is no minor matter, and history won't look kindly on Germany. Representing a traditionally significant if declining and now self-diminishing power in Europe, Berlin could have made a difference - quite conceivably one that would have saved hundreds of thousands of lives.

Yet things are what they are. Initially, under the thoroughly opportunistic yet usually intelligent Merkel, this German failure was mostly due to subservience to the US but practiced in Berlin's then signature style of evasive shiftiness. Yes, Merkel helped Kiev sabotage the 2015 Minsk II agreement, which could have avoided large-scale war between Russia and Ukraine. But she did that on the sly and only admitted it retrospectively, when criticized for having been "soft" on Russia. "No, I wasn't!" she, in essence retorted, "I did my part and lied like a street grifter!" What can one say? Ideas of personal dignity differ across cultures.

Under her successor, the merely opportunistic Scholz, Berlin's approaches have reverted to a certain elementary simplicity. The so-called "Zeitenwende" (epochal turn) he announced two years ago with traditional German modesty means that his coalition government has obeyed Washington in an unprecedentedly self-harming manner. Accepting sabotage of vital infrastructure - Nord Stream - and the systematic demolishing of the German economy by America's beggar-thy-vassal policy, Scholz has grinned submissively, while not just sacrificing national interests but taking a flamethrower to them.

NY Times Turns On Kamala: Publishes Numerous OpEds On 'Weak,' 'Phony' And 'Ignorant' Dem Nominee

Kamala Harris
Joy is not a strategy!
The NY Times on Friday posted a hit on Kamala Harris titled, "Joy is Not a Strategy."

Then, on Monday, The NY Times published an op-ed titled, "Trump Can win on character," something that must have made the leftist elites vomit in their mouths.

It didn't take long for the happy boost from the fantasy convention to flatline. On Monday night, former Biden spox Jen Psaki faced a harsh reality when Don Lemon told her that "no one" knows who Kamala Harris is in the swing states he visited last week.

Maybe that's good news, though? The more people learn about Kamala, the less they like her.

The Daily Mail reported:

Comment: When the establishment media turns on their own choice for president, you know something is up. Have they realised with the latest additions to the Trump team of RFK junior and Tulsi Gabbard, that the gap is just too huge and that no amount of fiddling with the election results will convince anybody come November, that Harris won? The question is, what other tricks do the Deep State now want to try, if they are now throwing Kamala under the bus?

Durov's arrest represents persecution of alternative viewpoints - Maduro

The arrest of Telegram founder and CEO Pavel Durov in France aligns with a broader policy of using maximum pressure to control alternative media platforms, according to Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

He made the remarks on Monday during his address at the 11th summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA). Maduro noted that the ALBA meeting was being broadcast on the Telegram platform.

This is "despite the fact that their president [Telegram CEO Pavel Durov] was taken into custody as part of this policy of persecution, maximum pressure, blackmail, arm-twisting of alternative social and communication networks," Maduro stated, adding that "power is abused across the world. They persecute in order to subjugate."

Durov was arrested at Paris-Le Bourget Airport on Saturday immediately after arriving from Azerbaijan by private jet. The Russian entrepreneur is also a citizen of France, the UAE, and St. Kitts and Nevis.

The French judicial authorities have twice extended Durov's detention. The Paris Public Prosecutor's Office has stated that he was arrested as part of a broad criminal inquiry in relation to an unnamed person.

French President Emmanuel Macron has denied that there was any political motive behind Durov's arrest, stating on Monday that it had taken place as part of "an ongoing judicial investigation."

Durov has previously stated that his commitment to user privacy has made him a target for intelligence agencies. In an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson earlier this year, Durov said he had rejected requests from Washington to share user data with US authorities or build so-called surveillance "backdoors" into the platform.

Azerbaijan, the perfect move: Russia and Iran consolidate the North-South corridor with the help of Minsk

Presidents Putin and Aliyev
Who would have thought it. Since 2022, Ilham Aliyev's Azerbaijan has changed direction and has now become Russia and Iran's new strategic ally. With the authoritative support of Minsk behind the scenes. And the best is yet to come, because there are still many surprises.

The decisive meeting, in perfect Caucasian style

The meeting between Putin and Aliyev on 18 August passed very much under the radar, but in truth it was a very high-level meeting in which, after years of painstaking work, the last stone was laid for the structural strengthening of the North-South route between Russia and Iran.

It emerged from the statements of the two presidents that:

- Russia promotes the multifaceted and friendly development of Azerbaijan and mutual relations;
- Russian and Azerbaijani cultures are in continuous contact and exchange, with a strengthening of popular diplomacy, study projects and historical reinvigoration;

- Cooperation between the two countries will lead to new formal agreements, with the signing of various documents, in the economic and... strategic spheres!

Comment: Western sanctions have only made these countries more resilient and creative in finding ways to work together with other nations outside the Western 'garden'. As a consequence, the West is steadily losing influence and commercial markets.

Global South 'worried' West could relax rules for Kiev's strikes in Russia - Beijing

"Super hawks" in some countries are intentionally heating up the Ukraine conflict, the Chinese Foreign Ministry has warned

Brazil, South Africa and Indonesia share China's concerns about the West easing restrictions on Kiev's use of weapons deep inside Russia, Beijing's special representative for Eurasian affairs said on Tuesday.

Li Hui made the remarks while briefing the media after the fourth round of shuttle diplomacy on the Ukraine crisis, during which he visited the three countries seen as representative of the so-called Global South.

Kiev already has the approval of several Western states to hit "legitimate" targets within Russia using donated weapons, and a concession from Washington for "conducting counter-fire defensive operations" across the border.

Vladimir Zelensky has resumed calls for the country's Western backers to expand the permitted strike range - a prospect that Moscow has warned would constitute an escalation of the conflict.

Comment:
1) Considering how antagonistic some forces in the West are towards China, they might take the latest statements from the Chinese Foreign Ministry as an encouragement to keep doing what they are doing which is using Ukraine as as a means to weaken Russia and putting pressure on many countries, friends and foe alike.

One effect, or is it a positive outcome of this pressure, is that more and more people begin to understand what they are up against. A year ago, the Chinese Foreign Ministry might not have stated: "All parties believe that the prolonged crisis is not just about Russia and Ukraine, but that the global war system represented by some military-industrial complexes is behind the conflict," even if that was also the case then. Perhaps it is also a recognition on the part of the Chinese government that settling this conflict will be difficult without addressing "the global war system represented by some military-industrial complexes" and that it can not be done without the cooperation between many parties.

2) While the "global war system" is named, what if that is in itself a tool for generating chaos and moving the planet in the direction of an outcome where conditions for depopulation appear as a matter of course?

3) If one reviews the outcome from the perspective of casualties during WWI and WWII, the first claimed 15-22 million, and the second 70-85 million. During WWII there were an estimated 2.3 billion people, today there are more than 8.1 billion. If one imagines a replay of the WWII scenario in terms of lives lost compared to those surviving, we are looking at 200-300 million. Unfortunately many populations probably are less resilient than their forbears that lived more than 80 years ago, which could lead to an even higher number. It is likely that some of the players are aware of such a possible outcome but hardly dare to state it, or reveal what they intend to do.

Vote for Harris if you want radical racial indoctrination of your kids

building a new world
What starts in California and Minnesota is guaranteed to not stay in California and Minnesota if you vote for Harris.

"Liberated" Studies Hit Minnesota

Beginning in kindergarten, the state's schoolchildren will be indoctrinated in radical racial ideology.

The Wall Street Journal reports Tim Walz Brings 'Liberated' Ethnic Studies to Minnesota
Tim Walz was a schoolteacher before entering politics, so what is his approach to teaching? The Minnesota Department of Education will soon release the initial version of a document that lays out how new "liberated" ethnic-studies requirements will be implemented in the state's roughly 500 public-school districts and charter schools.

Mr. Walz signed the law establishing this initiative in 2023. The department's standards and benchmarks, approved in January, require first-graders to "identify examples of ethnicity, equality, liberation and systems of power" and "use those examples to construct meanings for those terms."

Fourth-graders must "identify the processes and impacts of colonization and examine how discrimination and the oppression of various racial and ethnic groups have produced resistance movements." High-school students are told to "develop an analysis of racial capitalism" and "anti-Blackness" and are taught to view themselves as members of "racialized hierarchies" based on "dominant European beauty standards."

The Walz administration has relied on committed political activists to design and guide implementation of the state's education agenda. One of them is Brian Lozenski, an associate professor of urban and multicultural education at Macalester College in St. Paul and a leader and a founding organizer of Education for Liberation Minnesota, or EdLib MN, a group that aims to "be a political force" in Minnesota and "contend with the status quo of colonial education that prioritizes Eurocentric curricula.

The St. Paul course makes "resistance" to America's fundamental institutions a central theme. It instructs 16-year-olds to "build" a race- and ethnicity-based "narrative of transformative resistance" and to "challenge and expose" "systems of inequality." It tells them to "resist all systems of oppressive power rooted in racism through collective action and change." Accompanying artwork, labeled "seeds of resistance," features protest signs that read "No Bans/No Walls" and "Abolish Prison."

Minnesota's experience with this radical restructuring of its public education system may give Americans a picture of what the nation as a whole could soon face.

Comment: Trump's campaign could be better run. But what does the strongest campaign in the world matter when the determining of the election results remains in the hands of those who stole the 2020 election from him? Are Trump's chances of winning better now that he has two former Democrats who were shunned and blocked by their own party on his team, or is a Trump win an even more definitive impossibility?

Trump taps RFK Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard for presidential transition team

Former President Donald Trump has added his onetime campaign rival Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and former Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard to his presidential transition team, a spokesman confirmed Tuesday.

Both Kennedy and Gabbard endorsed Trump in the past week in his race against Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee.

"As President Trump's broad coalition of supporters and endorsers expands across partisan lines, we are proud that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard have been added to the Trump/Vance Transition team," Trump campaign senior advisor Brian Hughes said in a statement to CNBC.

"We look forward to having their powerful voices on the team as we work to restore America's greatness," Hughes said.

The transition team would make staffing and policy decisions if Trump beats Harris in the Nov. 5 presidential election. The New York Times first reported that the Republican nominee planned to tap Kennedy and Gabbard for the team.

Kennedy suspended his independent presidential campaign on Friday. Gabbard, who ran for the Democratic presidential nomination in the 2020 cycle and left the party in 2022, has reportedly been helping Trump prepare for a debate against Harris.

Comment: Well, this is no real surprise but it certainly is interesting. With these two helping select who'll be running the government, will they select themselves for certain roles and what roles will they be?
