Israel scored another major 'PR victory' with many Westerners when it blew off the hands of thousands of Lebanese people last week.

But the Levantine enclave also has a problem. And it's not the normal kind of problem. This week on NewsReal, Joe & Niall examine what could lead a country's government to spend decades plotting to remote-detonate thousands of technological devices in a neighboring country... for no apparent gain. What IS Israel's 'grand plan'? Can it even work?

Also, hardcore Democratic Party supporter Ryan Routh was 'rumbled' at Trump International Golf Course in Florida this week, hiding out in the bushes in the hope of 'taking a shot at' the US presidential candidate. Was he acting alone?

US moving extra troops to Alaska — Politico

Washington has sent additional forces to the region amid an uptick in Russian and Chinese activity, the outlet says.

The US is reinforcing its military presence in Alaska due to increased Russian and Chinese activity off the coast, Politico reported on Friday.

The outlet noted that over the past month, the US has redeployed numerous assets - including the destroyer USS Sterett. In addition, ground forces are now stationed on one of the state's remote islands, and that fighters and other aircraft have been put on heightened alert.

Business Insider reported last week that the deployment included elements of the 11th Airborne Division supported by HIMARS missile systems and counter fire radars to keep an eye on Sino-Russian naval exercises.

Comment: Wherever you are...we are.
Moscow has taken to flexing its muscles in the Indo-Pacific and the Arctic as its relationship with China deepens thanks in part to the war in Ukraine. Largely without allies in Europe to partner with, Russian ships and aircraft have run a series of large-scale exercises in the Pacific as Beijing and Moscow draw closer due to each nation's isolation from the international community, building on economic ties brought about by international sanctions.

Russia's foreign minister Sergey Lavrov is warning that it is "fully ready" for a conflict with NATO in the Arctic:
"We see NATO stepping up drills related to possible crises in the Arctic. Our country is fully ready to defend its interests militarily, politically and from the standpoint of defense technologies. The Arctic is not the territory of the North Atlantic alliance."
The Arctic includes territory belonging to eight nations: Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Canada, the U.S., Iceland and Russia. All except Russia are NATO members.

In July, North American Aerospace Defense Command intercepted Russian and Chinese bombers flying just 200 miles from Alaska's coast. It marked the first time that assets from both countries had been intercepted while operating together, with aircraft taking off from the same Russian air base. U.S. fighter jets had to launch from an airbase approximately 1,000 miles away.

The new U.S. military deployments and alerts come amid the start of a massive Chinese/Russian exercise in the Sea of Japan dubbed Ocean 2024 that includes dozens of warships and over 120 naval aircraft.

The Russian vessels remained on the Russian side of the Maritime Boundary Line while transiting approximately 30 miles inside the U.S. Exclusive Economic Zone under international law.

U.S. Coast Guard Vice Commandant Adm. Kevin Lunday said Thursday during a Senate hearing in response to questions from Sullivan:
"This is a sustained operation that we have in place to make sure that we meet presence with presence and demonstrate the importance of U.S. sovereignty."
U.S. officials said they are continuing to work closely with NATO allies on intelligence sharing and coordinated responses to Russian activities in the region.

Thousands protest new government in France

French protest
Large protests took place across France on Saturday over the appointment earlier in the day of a right-leaning government. Thousands marched in Paris, denouncing President Emmanuel Macron and his new conservative prime minister, Michel Barnier, claiming they had disregarded the results of the July parliamentary election.

The vote left France deadlocked and with a hung parliament consisting of three roughly equal blocs - the left-wing New Popular Front (NFP) alliance, the center, headed by Macron's Renaissance party, and the far-right National Rally. Although no party won a majority, the NFP coalition secured the most seats, which was seen as providing a mandate to present its candidate for prime minister.

However, Macron refused to appoint the NFP's choice, Lucie Castets, triggering accusations that he "denies democracy." Earlier this month, meanwhile, Macron nominated Barnier, from the center-right Republicans party, for the post.

Barnier failed to form a government quickly and when he finally announced a new cabinet on Saturday, it included only one left-wing politician, Didier Migaud, as justice minister. The rest mostly comprised centrists and right-wingers.

Comment: The demonstrations were small considering that Macron basically totally did away with democracy and held the French voters in contempt. The appointed French prime minister was from the party which came in 4th with only 5% of the votes.

Arnaud Bertrand writes on X:
France's new government is even a bigger denial of democracy that people feared, it's literally packed with Macron allies - many of which were already in the government prior - even though the voters main message in the elections was "no more Macron!" Just look at that: -

Foreign Minister: Jean-Noël Barrot, long-time Macron ally and Minister for Europe in the previous government -

Minister for Europe: Benjamin Haddad, former spokesperson for Macron's party -

Minister of education: Anne Genetet, former Senator of Macron's party (she spent her entire political career on Macron's side) -

Minister of defense: Sébastien Lecornu. No change: he was already minister of defense in the previous government... -

Minister of energy and climate transition: Agnès Pannier-Runacher. She too was already in the previous government as minister for agriculture. -

Minister of culture: Rachida Dati. Again, no change: she was already minister of culture in the previous government. -

Finance and economy minister: Antoine Armand. Another long-time Macron ally, he headed the committee for the candidacy of Macron during the 2022 presidential campaign. -

Minister of industry: Marc Ferracci. This is perhaps the most egregious: he was literally Macron's best man at his wedding. -

Minister of Civil Service: Guillaume Kasbarian. He too was already in the previous government as minister for housing. -

Minister of the budget: Laurent Saint-Martin, another long-time Macron ally who in the previous government headed the "Business France" agency. -

Minister for tourism: Marina Ferrari. She was secretary of state for digital affairs in the previous government. -

Spokesperson for the government: Maud Bregeon, she was a MP from Macron's party prior to her appointment.

And I haven't gone through all of them. This is absolutely insane: Macron called a snap election after his loss at the EU elections to ask "are you really sure, like 100% sure, that you don't want my party in power anymore?". The French emphatically replied "yes, we're really really sure!" and what they get is: his party remaining in power...

To be fair, the government does have a few non-Macron figures (like Bruno Retailleau, the Minister of Interior) but most of them stem from PM Barnier's party Les Républicains which only got 5% of the votes at the elections.

So they're even less legitimate. Like a former French France's new government is even a bigger denial of democracy that people official was recently saying, "this is the first time in the history of our Republic that we have a government with zero democratic legitimacy."

Was there a palace coup at the White House?

Antony Blinken's foreign policy conduct has been a textbook recipe for a mutiny in the military ranks.

Did we just have a palace coup in Washington?

The events have taken a very strange turn in Washington DC this month. Britain's new cabinet has made it a priority to escalate the West's proxy war against Russia and to bring the U.S. and other allies onboard by hook or by crook. Part of the agenda was enabling the Ukrainians to strike at Russia with western supplied long-range precision missiles. This wouldn't be a new thing exactly, but the escalation they are gunning for is quite substantial, involving possibly even nuclear weapons.

The groundwork for this escalation was being prepared for months. In March this year, the Biden administration approved a new "Nuclear Employment Guidance" in preparation to fight and "win" a three-front nuclear war against Russia, China and North Korea. They followed up with plans to deploy long-range nuclear missiles in Germany and Holland. The preparations were being coordinated between the Neocons in the Biden administration, led by the Secretary of State Antony Blinken, NATO and the members of British cabinets, both under Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and under the new PM Keir Starmer.

The 'War Party' makes its plans

The Biden White House and the Democratic Party machine trying to advance Kamala Harris from No. 2 in the regime to No. 1 gets more interesting by the week, I have to say. The Harris campaign has at last, two months after the party's elites and financiers railroaded her candidacy past any semblance of a democratic process, published a platform it calls A New Way Forward, and I will get to this in due course. I am less interested now in words posted on a website than in two recent developments we ought to consider together even if no one has yet thought to do so.

Slowly and very surely, it becomes clear by way of these weekly turns how a new Democratic regime, should Harris win on Nov. 5, proposes to manage the imperium's business. And however many foolish voters may be illusioned otherwise, if Harris takes the White House her business will be neither more nor less than managing the imperium — the wars, the provocations, the illegal sanctions and other collective punishments, the terrorist clients in Israel, the neo-Nazis in Kiev.

Multiple 'assassination teams' targeting Trump - US lawmaker

The alleged hitmen may be receiving assistance from a "mole" within the Secret Service, Matt Gaetz has suggested.

Five "assassination teams" are currently attempting to kill former US President Donald Trump, Florida Representative Matt Gaetz has claimed, citing sources in the Department of Homeland Security.

Speaking to Breitbart News on Thursday, Gaetz condemned an apparent attempt on Trump's life last weekend as "tragic" and "avoidable," claiming that there is insufficient security around the former president to protect him from harm.

Gaetz went on to claim that he recently met with an official from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), who told him:
"There are at least five teams in-country that are geared toward killing Trump. Three of them that we know are foreign in nature. Two of them we know are domestic in nature, and that calls for a force protection that we do not have around the former president right now."
Gaetz noted that the foreign teams are linked to Ukraine, Iran, and Pakistan.

These teams are able to walk around freely in the US, Gaetz claimed, because there is "insufficient scrutiny to stop them from doing so."

Comment: What kind of fortitude must Trump have to daily face the possibility of assassination? Sanity or Insanity?

Washington's new plan to control the Global South

blink
© rew Angerer/Getty ImagesUS Secretary of State Antony Blinken
Not satisfied with banning RT in most Western countries nearly three years ago, the US and its allies have unveiled a new plan to bully the rest of the world into following suit.

When US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced a new "joint diplomatic campaign" to be implemented in concert with Canada and the UK last week, he clearly set out the initiative's goal:
"To rally allies and partners around the world to join us in addressing the threat posed by RT and other machinery of Russian disinformation and covert influence."
Make no mistake: there is nothing diplomatic in this latest US effort to silence any voice that does not adhere to the Washington- and London-dictated narratives about the world.

The point of all news media is to inform. Any information has the potential to influence people. Thus, the collective West has set out to curtail all potential influence that is not theirs.

Comment: Washington can't control itself.

"I don't understand why it's so difficult for the press to have a consistent narrative about how dangerous Trump is."
— Hillary Clinton
If anything like civil war ignites in this country, the sides will not be the political Red and the Blue but the sane and the insane. Now it happens, unfortunately, that the insane are driving the engine of government. They have been at war with the people of this land for years, depriving them of livelihoods, stuffing them into prison, breaking the social contract, wrecking the country's relations with the rest of the world, and belaboring the peoples' minds with one insulting absurdity after another.

They comprise a bizarre coalition of the permanent bureaucracy, the Democratic Party, and the news media. The permanent bureaucracy includes its own machine for making war on citizens: the intel blob, whose tentacles reach into other agencies: Homeland Security, the State Department, the so-called Justice Department, the Pentagon, the myriad Public Health offices, and the shadowy clique that stands-in for a disabled president in the White House.

You can tell they are insane because they are driven by a single motivation: to remain in power for no other purpose than to escape responsibility for their many crimes against the people. This is insane behavior because it depends on the proposition that reality does not matter, that reality is optional, that there is no such thing as truth, and if it happened to exist, to be a thing, it would have no greater value to the human project than its opposite, untruth.

Everything is explosive: Israel and Lebanon are on the brink of war

On September 17, a series of explosions rocked Lebanon, as pagers used by the militant group Hezbollah for communication were detonated. The blasts occurred in the southern suburbs of Beirut, a stronghold of Hezbollah, as well as other parts of the country and Syria. According to Reuters, the explosions lasted for more than half an hour, claiming at least 12 lives, including the ten-year-old daughter of a Hezbollah member. Thousands were injured, including Iran's ambassador to Lebanon.

The next day, Lebanon witnessed another wave of detonations, this time involving communication devices and equipment installed in cars and motorcycles, as reported by Al Hadath. The explosions occurred in Beirut, southern Lebanon, and the Bekaa Valley, leaving around 100 people injured and at least three dead in the town of Sohmor.

Al Jazeera confirmed that the blasts were linked to portable devices used by members of Hezbollah. Iran's Press TV added that radios and ICOM communication devices were among those that exploded. Al Hadath also reported that laptops and equipment installed in vehicles were destroyed, some of which were unrelated to communication devices. A security source told Reuters that the portable radios were acquired by Hezbollah five months ago, similar to the pagers that were also sabotaged.

Comment: Israel's obsession defines/confines and resigns the future to one path forward. We may not have long to wait.

Is the end nigh? Here's what the Russian Army has achieved in the last two months

Moscow's forces are building on gains on three key fronts as Kiev desperately tries to find a response.

The front line in the Ukraine conflict has shifted considerably since early August. Almost seven weeks later, we can draw some interim conclusions by examining the key areas of the front, from north to south.

The Kursk front

On August 6, Ukrainian forces launched an incursion into Russia's Kursk Region. At first glance, this seemed like just another cross-border raid, similar to many that had gone before; however, it quickly became apparent that this operation was more significant. This time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) advanced under their own flag and clearly aimed to repeat the success they had in Kharkov Region in the fall of 2022. The strategy was to break through a relatively weak front (compared to Donbass and Zaporozhye), quickly capture a large area, and force the Russian Army to retreat without a fight.
